• Verified traveler (10/5): - This was my second stay here and the staff made the stay perfect. They were, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable and so accommodating. The room floors could do with a scrub as well as washing and tidying up the curtains. Other than that everything else was perfect. Washroom facilities were spot on but shower floor corners need a clean. What we took away...the beautiful staff. They are your best assets there. Then comes the views. Thank you Emma and Team
• Walter (10/5): - We loved our stay here. We stayed in Sentinel Rm. 4, which was large and comfortable. The views from the lodge are fantastic. We ate breakfast and supper each night at the lodge restaurant and were happy with our meals. Like most visitors here, we were here to hike to the top of Tugela Falls via the chain ladders. The hotel handled the logistics for us--the transport to the trailhead and packed lunch. The next day, we had a massage at the spa located on the property, which was also amazing.
• Marie (10/5): Bel endroit pour départ de randonnée - Un joli hôtel bien situé pour effectuer la randonnée de Sentinel Peak. Le personnel est accueillant gentil et les restaurant est bon. Les bungalows sont confortables. Si nous devions revenir dans le drakensberg nous re ferions un stop ici.

• Akihiro (10/5): - Tugela Fallsへの登山目的で利用しました。 宿泊前からメッセージにて丁寧なご案内があり、相談にも乗って下さりました。また当日も、当方は片言の英語でしたがレセプションの方には熱心に相談に乗っていただけたのがとても助かりました。ロケーションは山の尾根上にあるため周囲には絶景が広がっていて抜群。その絶景を眺めながらの夕食も美味しく素晴らしかったです。朝一のシャトルを予約してであげるTugela Fallへと向かいましたが、登山用のお弁当セットも用意して下さり、滝を眺めながら食べたサンドイッチが格別でした。

• Hanspeter (8/5): - A good starting point for walks. The Sentinel room was nice with a good outlook to the mountains. The food in the restaurant was not really special. We wifi in the Sentinel room was very poor.
• Alison (8/5): Overall good experience - The hotel is in a great place for walking and has a beautiful aspect. The rooms are fairly standard with a good bathroom but fridge or tv. The hotel provides a good breakfast and food throughout the day and it is very good value. There are options to hire guides for mountain walking if you’re new to the area.

• Michael (10/5): - Wunderschön gelegen, Sonnenaufgang direkt vor der Tür. Frühstück war sehr abwechslungsreich und das Highlight war die Wanderung mit 4x4 Anfahrt zum Amphietheater.
• Christopher (10/5): - Fantastic views, and the best place to start the hike to Tugela Falls. Very quiet. The only sounds at night were the sounds of the horses eating grass. Excellent breakfast. The road to the property is paved, but the road from there to Sentinel Carpark is definitely a rock crawl and best left to a transfer by the lodge. Note that there’s a fee to get to the property (save your receipt for the way out as they ask for it). There is also the transfer fee and hiking fee. Also, the queen size bed is German style (2 mattresses shoved together, each with separate bedding).

• Richard (8/5): - Very unique place to stay if you are hiking in the area. Our stay was very brief, arriving on one night and checking out and hiking the next day. The staff was great, assisting with transportation and packing a lunch since we would be missing breakfast. The room was very comfortable sized. Would recommend a side with a view of the mountains if you are staying a bit!

• Kaajal (10/5): Absolutely fabulous place - Agnes at check-in was kind and friendly. Another staff member came through and gave us some advice on our hike. The 4 x 4 trip return was with kind , informative drivers, Mr. Goodwin, I don't recall the gentleman that drove us back. He taught us things about the Drakensburg and Maluti Mountains that we didn't know. Eddie at the Sentinel parking was a gem. I absolutely loved our stay. Clean rooms, bedding and toilet/shower facilities. Thank you and all the best to you all always

• Yves (8/5): - Il faisait chaud dans la chambre en ce mois de décembre. Pas de climatisation. A la limite... Mais au moins un ventilateur aurait été utile. Difficile de trouver le repos dans cette chambre quand il fait chaud pendant la journée. La chaleur reste à l'intérieur.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Witsieshoek was a great weekend getaway, with stunning views from each room. Unfortunately, we got stormed out and did not have the time to wait around to go on any hiking trails. As a result, we were stuck around the property, which in itself is beautiful, however it does not have functioning wifi in the rooms (or tvs), which made the stay a bit bland. Of course, had the weather been nice, a lack of wifi or tv would not have been of any concern, but I do think the lack of functioning wifi is a deterrent to many people.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Impressed with the reception staff who were tremendous. Always willing to go the extra mile to help. Example I was a day late because of having an upset stomach and I expected to have the 90% charge in these situations. The receptionist went the extra mile and spoke with the owner and the charge was waved. That is the type genuine down to earth people working here. They do everything possible to make your stay a happy one. They can't provide everything a town hotel might provide because they are situated high up an isolated mountain. But they do their best and more than make up for any lack by homeliness, a warm smile and a genuine concern for the welfare and comfort of their guests. A very enjoyable stay. My only regret was that I did not have the time to stay longer. very well done to all the staff at this value for money and convenient lodge situated with amazing views when ithe weather is fine and a bundle of laughs and great hospitality when the weather is foggy or wet. this is a real mountain lodge on a gloriously beautiful mountain. Well done all at Wisiehoek Mountain Lodge. Very impressed.
• Norbert (8/5): Grandiose Lage - Die Zimmer sind groß und sauber, das Personal äußerst freundlich, das Essen von der Karte hervorragend, wenn allerdings große Gruppen vor Ort sind, gibt es nur Buffet und das war leider grottenschlecht

Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit, das Essen war seht gut und die Zimmer gut in Ordnung gehalten. Die Baulichkeiten der Lodge sind in die Jahre gekommen und die Bezeichnungen der einzelnen Häuser könnte eindeutiger bezeichnet werden.

• Clara (8/5): Bel hôtel très bien situé !! - Très belle hôtel avec une vue sur la montagne. Les chambres sont grandes et confortables et la nourriture est bonne. Nous avons choisi cette hôtel car nous voulions faire la Sentinel peak car l’hotel est situé à seulement 15 min de voiture du début de la randonnée. Attention une voiture 4x4 est nécessaire mais l’hotel propose à ses clients de les déposer devant la randonnée alors n’hesitez pas à leur demander !!
• Peter (10/5): - Great starting point to hike on the Sentinel Peak trail. My family enjoyed the breakfast. We drove up the road to the parking lot at the trail head. There are some big rocks on the road, but you can make it with out 4 wheel drive easily in the dry season.

• Kelley (10/5): Warm & Comfortable Lodge - Wonderful place to stay for he amphitheater hike - just be aware the shuttle to trailhead has limited space, so sign up as soon as you arrive (unless you have a 4x4 and don't require the shuttle). We enjoyed the food and service at the restaurant, and the bar/lounge area is a great place to relax after exploring the area.
• Alexander (6/5): Guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen am Sentinel - Während gesamten Aufenthalt Stromausfall. Es gab nur Abends und am Morgen Strom als der Generator lief. Somit auch Warmwasser erst ab 21:00 Uhr! Zimmer spartanisch eingerichtet jedoch sauber. Mitarbeiter sehr bemüht. Zu empfehlen ist außerdem der Shuttleservice zum Sentinel Car Park für ca. 15€ pp. Die Strecke wäre zu diesem Zeitpunkt für ein Nicht-Allradfahrzeug das Todesurteil gewesen.

Given the expensive fee charged to access it, proper marking and information from attendants would be the mimimum expected. Fading paint marks make you have the very unpleasant impression of having lost your way!

• English couple (10/5): Wonderful care at the top of the mountain p - It seems like all the rooms have now been refurbished and to a very good standard. The bed was huge and very high quality. The restaurant has a wonderful huge bay window with fantastic views. (eat early or late so you get a table at the window). The food was extremely high quality, with about 6 or 8 mains to choose from. There were hot options for breakfast too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Try to stay for at least 3 days. The sentinel hike is the big pull. But I suffer from virtego so found several less cliff edge walks which were much more to my liking .
• Kevin (10/5): Beautiful Mountain Retreat - Witsieshoek Lodge is definitely off the beaten path, but it's a good thing. The road to the lodge past town only leads there and to the hiking trails for The Sentinel and the Ampitheater. The lodge itself has nice rooms and a good diner / bar, but the best part is the amazing views and the proximity to some great hiking. This place is definitely a great starting/ending point for the nearby hikes, and it's in excellent condition. Wifi isn't the best, but there were places around the lodge where you could find 3G/4G.
• Sean (10/5): Wonderful visit marred by a few bumps - The Mountain Lodge is wonderful. The location is fantastic. Tucked away near the top of the Drakensberg Mountain Range and a short hike to the Tugela Falls (second highest waterfall in the world). The views from the resort are breathtaking. You can tell service is important because all the staff are very kind and welcoming. The accommodations are comfortable with a wonderful, large, bed - with enough blankets and space heater to keep you warm. The food is not great. There are very few vegetarian options and most dishes lack flavor. The lamb dish and the chicken pie were both better options. Internet is spotty and the power often goes out at the lodge. I think this adds to the character of the place and it did not detract for me overall, but I could see how it would for some. The price is very reasonable for the accommodation, but there are a lot of separate fees for the resort that can add up - just be mindful of that. I would strongly recommend staying here. The views and the proximity to an amazing hike of Tugela Falls more than make up for the small short comings it has.

We stayed in the hiker's cabin and it was exactly what we needed as a base for our hiking trips. Very good food at the restaurant as well.
