- Sakshi (10/5): - Nice and quite area, the entrance of the property is a bit dodgy cos the front door on the street isn’t open , but rest was all good . The mattress was absolutely comfortable. Large room with large bathroom . Lovely stay.

- Colin (6/5): - Hotel was fine but the hotel is house immigrant families and they was shouting all night, so when I have to get up early for work and get very little sleep becomes a problem.

- Ben (4/5): Fallen glory - Don’t believe the website pictures, these were taken years ago. You can see this hotel was once a 4 star hotel, beautiful building and lovely period wood paneling in the reception. Sadly, the hotel now has a a lot of permanent residents, family in the common areas and toys lying around. The restaurant is closed and now and temporary kitchen, the place is dark and dingy, with smell of food and damp in the air. Having said that, we stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, which was very nice and well appointed but it felt like walking through Pandoras closet!
- Candice (6/5): - It’s clean and the room was in good shape. Front desk person was nice helpful. That said, it looks like a lot of the rooms are longer-term rentals. There were several children playing in the parking lot and running around in the lobby area. I also saw toys in some of the ground floor windows, indicating that people were living there. While the room we stayed in looked recently updated, the lobby is pretty rundown. And the restaurant and lounge are closed (with refrigerators and microwaves in what I assume was previously the dining room—probably for the tenants). It’s too bad because it looked like it was a really cool hotel/tavern/restaurant at a previous point in the past. Not planning on ever being back in this area, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

- Tracy (6/5): - I know we have had a heat wave but room was so hot i barely slept. The windows barely open. The fan was just blowing warm air around. Also am not sure but felt they are now using hotel for single mums. Although not a problem as i was there once. But i feel people should be aware if this is the case. Didnt have a problem with this as was hardly there. I had clumps of hair over our carpet not mine i hasten to add. Was disappointed as have stayed here before a few years ago but has gone downhill
- Patrick (2/5): Not as fancy as it looks. - Stayed four nights. Two of those were interrupted by noise next door. Walls are very thin and it doesn't help that TV is mounted onto party wall. No air conditioning, slow or intermittent internet, soap not replenished for two days. An endless walk to the car park and exit. The room was big though.

- Gillian (2/5): - Nothing to like. Its so wrongly advertised as an upmarket hotel, no restaurant or bar as advertised? Rooms are less then basic, dirty, felt more like someones bedroom or being in a hostel and the reasons for this are (which you aren't informed about prior) is that its now being used as temporary accommodation. Information which should be disclosed ??? Whole reason for our stay was completely ruined because of all of the above issues and wrong advertising and information. Rooms are worth £30 if that so there will an incoming complaint and refund expected

- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a great hot - Hotel was boiling hot, room was very hot and basic, for an executive room. Just a bar of soap in the bathroom, although reception gave me a shower gel when I asked and supplied a fan for the room. Shower was awful would only adjust to boiling hot or freezing cold. Front of house staff were friendly
- Lee (2/5): - Can honestly say this was one of the grimmest hotels? I’ve had the misfortune to stay in in a long time. Despite apparently being a four star hotel, what they don’t tell you is this hotel appears to be a migrant hotel which also allows paying guests. Both the restaurant and bar are permanently shut, everywhere you go all you hear is screaming children, rubbish thrown everywhere, facilities all closed and the externals haven’t been cleaned in a long time. Our room not only had a waterfall shower that didn’t work, but the makeshift showerhead that was fitted was both broken and didn’t allow the mixing of cold and hot and therefore it was either freezing or scolding and no in between. The toilet you had to flush six times to get it working. The room was so hot that we literally couldn’t sleep in it and ended up having to spend time sitting in our car outside with the air-conditioning on just a cool back down. When we got into the room, there was one towel between the two of us when we asked for another towel we got the smallest bath towel possible which has stain stains on it, there was a very poor fan in the room however all the plug sockets were so badly positioned. We ended up having to move the bed so that we could actually get some air from this fan. Upon moving the bed we found half a packet of nuts left across the floor that hadn’t been cleaned and dust that I’ve been there for ages. This hotel is at best a two star and is an absolute lie that it’s a four. Avoid!!

- Andrew (4/5): - Room was dirty with toe nail clippings across the floor. Cabinets in the room were broken. No fan or air conditioning Website stated there was a gym and well maintained garden area. No gym and the garden was completely run down. Windows in the hotel were covered with sheets. Dark and smelly.
- David (6/5): - Room size was good and clean but pretty dated. No electric points nor light switch near bed. Electric points were in odd places. Drawers in room instead of desk to sit at. Bed was comfortable enough but walls pretty thin - could here music and snoring from rooms next to me. Walk to room was pretty long and lifts out of order. Made for a tiring trip from car to room with baggage. Staff were warm and friendly.

Staff were really nice and the room was actually nice but it’s not a hotel. 90% occupied by people living in the rooms whilst awaiting being housed elsewhere. That’s fine but should not be advertised as a hotel on hotels.com!

- Peter (6/5): Cheap but poor - Cheap accommodation but decor tired. Whole hotel smelt strongly of curry. Very uncomfortable bed and poor shower. It was clean though and staff were nice
- Marcus (8/5): - Very pleasant, recently renovated hotel in a quiet location in Dunstable. Rooms were clean and comfortable, bathroom was great. Only downside (for a recent reno) - no USBs in the room. Almost everyone carries a USB rechargeable device these days, and it's remit of hotel not to provide USB ports, and require us to carry an adaptor. Also, my room had no bedside lights whatsoever and no way to turn off the room light from the bed. Currently no food or drink on site. Though there are walkable options.

- Victoria (2/5): - Terrible! Curtains all closed downstairs. No food or drinks available. Only 2 bulbs working in the bathroom and 1 was flashing on and off. The shower head was broken and only two out of the 20 parts filtering water were working. The temperature outside was 25 degrees yet the hotel still had the heating piping out and it was a ridiculous temperature inside the hotel itself. It was impossible to sleep. The hotel was housing immigrants and they were cooking food for themselves inside the hotel. It was a terrible experience and would never visit again!

- Oliver (2/5): Avoid. - Appears to be used as a migrant hotel. Ver poor state of repair. It looks to have once been a good place, not any longer. Spent an hour there and drove home.
- David (8/5): helpful staff very good value - staff are great and helpful the only issue i had was other family guests of a minority background letting there kids run around and bang about until quite late, but to be very fair to the staff due to an issue with my room lock (which they sorted) they did offer to move me to a different room. all i actually did was turn up the TV a little loudwer than i normally would

No basic toiletries in bathroom, no drinking glasses or fridge. TV and phone didn’t work. How on earth can this be a 4 star hotel. I questioned all of these points to member of staff and received no response.

Stains on the bed and pubes in the shower. No shower gel even after we asked. The was soap but it was grime, it is also housing refugees. Which is fine however there was a lot.

Moved to a family room. Again, 1 pillow each. Hand towels only. 3rd floor, lift broken. Honestly a poor place to stay. Apart from a comfortable bed this place is awful!
- Philip (10/5): Work trip - Very nice old building I booked an upgraded room , it was super clean and had air con the shower was a rain style and it was massive , the bed was comfy and the tv was big .. although there is no food or drinks available you can literally walk round the corner to Dunstable Main Street and eat and drink what ever you want
- Verified traveler (4/5): Tired and in need of much TLC - The hotel is in poor condition. My room was 'tired' and the tv didnt work. Phone point broken, damage from previous visitors and black fragments in the cold tap water. Such a shame as it used to be lovely.

I’m glad i brought my noise cancelling headphones (thin walls) and the bar & restaurant were closed. The shower was good, that was the only positive.

- Max (8/5): - Nice property - it was unfortunate that due to the major cancellations at Luton airport there was a long wait for check-in but this was, I imagine, exceptional. Nice small hotel, friendly staff and good choice for breakfast.

- Glyn (2/5): - This could be a nice property but if they are hosting a wedding when you visit then you'll never find out. On arrival we found out that there were no dining facilities, no lift to reach the room nor anyone to assist with bags. Like many venues they were struggling for staff so getting served at the bar was a challenge. The worst aspect had to be the complete lack of sleep possible with wedding guests making noise until 5am. Following morning breakfast was set-up for mass catering with watery coffee served from a catering style vacuum flask. Cross-contaminated serving utensils even after advising staff of a mushroom allergy. I sure with no wedding ongoing we may have enjoyed a completely different experience. I'd recommend checking at the time you book what else if planned in this hotel especially if you actually want any sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well managed family party - Fantastic sevice from Alex, who arranged our family dinner in a private room and was super helpful, and reception were also friendly. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles with staff who couldn't cope and werent professional, but overall a good stay - the food was excellent quality and value. Walled garden is pretty and the old part of the hotel is nice - the new parts lack any sort of character, but are comfortable enough.

- Glenda (8/5): 2 Easy things to fix this hotel to a 5 star rating - Would have been 5 star BUT 2 things let it down badly 1. No room thermostats and the rooms were far too hot. 2. Bathrooms need complete modernisation, showers are outdated and not very good, mixer taps to set the temp, not good or effective. No grab handle or anything to hold onto when you step out of the shower, and with a shower over a bath these are an absolute ESSENTIAL. That being said, the beds were comfortable, clean, and the rooms a very good size, Service and food in the restaurant were excellent. All staff were extremely attentive and very helpful. Just a real pity about the heat and the bathroom

- Thomas (6/5): Average - Wedding was going on when checked in . Went out came back to our room at 9 loud disco directly below our room. Would have been impossible to sleep . Called reception who moved us to a new upgraded room at the back of the hotel and floor above and no noise. At breakfast discovered numerous wedding guests had stayed so surely all rooms on the first floor need to be assigned to weeding guests. Also at breakfast huge tables for wedding party meaning felt no room and unwelcome if a wedding is on they need a separate breakfast room . And the wedding party need there own bar and area otherwise you are walking around wedding guests . If not a wedding on be great place to stay if a wedding on would avoid.

Yet again staying at this Hotel(if you can call it a Hotel) was a Joke. No internet, when I called I used my own Mobile as I was to lazy to move.,No one picked up, I tried at least three attempts, I thought giving the 80's phone in the corner of the room a go. wow!! someone did answer I said i have no internet he said someone will be there (you guessed it) no one turned up, so I called back and said don't bother I might as well go to bed However I looked at the 70's version of a air-con unit in the far corner of the room I turned it on. This unit had no power even to to cool the room if you left it on and could not Sleep due to the noise and if you turned it off. you heard noise as the room walls are so thin The Hotel had the nerve to charge you over £70 for the worse night sleep I have had.
- Yasmin (10/5): Superb place - We had an amazing time, we had a great meal in the Henry room. The slow cooked beef was delicious and would definitely recommend it and the biscotti cheesecake. The room was great and the service was too. Loved the walled garden and as it was a gorgeous day we sat out there till late having a few drinks from the bar in the garden.

- Julie (10/5): Slightly disappointing - My booking says breakfast included but we were told at the desk it wasn’t and the price would be £9 each. Room was extremely hot, no air conditioning. Bath was a bit rusty in places. Only one bedside cabinet for a double bed. Net curtains were ripped and hanging off the rail. Was expecting a bit better considering the price.

- Matt (8/5): Whipsnade Zoo Weekend Stay - Stayed at the Old Palace Lodge in Dunstable, very close to the zoo and the downs (what a view!!) Not a good start, checked in and had to tell the receptionist we had breakfast included, no apology received. Also had to ask the directions to our room. Booked the room (with the cow picture on the wall) very nice indeed, very modern and quite spacious, bathroom was lovely, however we did find quite a few small black hairs on the bed sheets that we removed and air conditioning seemed to be freezing cold no matter the temperature. Ordered the fillet steak off the menu which was delicious and came with chunky chips, disappointed to then order a meal that included chunky chips the following night, only for them to be different. Got woken up numerous times throughout the night through the hotel telephone from what seemed to be cold calls from reception, the phone was eventually unplugged and stayed that way for the remainder of the visit. Apology was received but a promise to discuss this with the manager never happened, not great when paying £140 per night. Generally, I thought there was a lack of customer service and courtesy from the receptionists, to the waiters and waitresses, seemed more concerned with serving the locals in to watch the euro championships football on the big outside screen than a care for the paying guests paying a substantial price to stay.
- Suzanne (6/5): OK.... ish.... - Being completely honest I expected more from the pictures on the website. Our room was tiny and only had one beside table - the wardrobe was at the other side of the bed. Also you couldn't sit up against the headboard on the bed as it pushed the bed away as it was on wheels! In the bathroom the shower rail was held up by some twisted wire, the toiletries were only sufficient for one person and there was no extractor fan in the bathroom. However it was clean, the staff were friendly and there was plenty of car parking.

- Mark (10/5): Excellent happy staff in all areas of hotel - Great stay in an executive room , Reception staff so helpful and friendly . covid 19 rules working well . lovely garden and coffee only down side if your up early for coffee etc the bar area doesnt get cleaned until later in day , hotel please take note . will be staying again

- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not a great experience. Firstly there was an event there we were not aware of, I wouldn't have booked to stay there had i known. This meant the restaurant was shut so we had to go elsewhere to eat. Breakfast was not served until 8am, we had to leave at 7am, so had to look elsewhere fro food. Then to cap it all off they refused to believe that the hotel was pre-paid through Expedia (using my points) and tried to make me pay for it. Room was reasonable. Beds were comfy, and facilities ok. The bathroom was a bit tired with some peeling paint, but overall clean.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the bathtub in the Jane Seymour room! That was such a highlight, especially with the bath salts provided. I also appreciated the on-site gym which was well-equipped. The staff were helpful and friendly, and did quality checks to make sure rooms and guests were satisfied.
