Guest Reviews
- D (10/5): - Very hot in the room
- LINDA (4/5): Quite noisy - The room was very noisy as when the door in the corridor opened or prople were walking through it was so noisy it felt like someone was in the room. On the ground floor you could not leave the window open at night as there was not a tilt option and no small windows.
- Joanne (8/5): - Basic university-type accommodation, with plenty of storage, a comfortable bed and decent, if small, bathroom with walk in shower. West Accommodation is situated the furthest away from the bus stop, with buses which go straight into the centre of Bath, with tap-in-tap-out: so convenient. We stayed over a weekend. There was plenty of free parking but perhaps during the week that may be different. Our stay was during the hottest weekend of the year. The re are really good blackout blinds but the windows do not open very far, so the room was hot and humid. A fan or air conditioning would have been very welcome. The staff were really helpful and knowledgeable. The cold water pressure in the bathroom was very low, so the shower was hotter than I would like, especially considering the weather. I reported it to the staff but nothing could be done during our short stay. The breakfast was continental style with a good selection of cereals, toast, pastries, cheese and meats, some yogurt and fruit, a wide selection of teas and coffee, fruit juices. We would stay there again: the price was very reasonable compared with the alternatives, the breakfast suited our needs, and the bus link to town made it very practical for tourists.
- Hui (10/5): - easy check in,good breakfast,big car park
- Paul (10/5): - Staff very friendly, parking easy. link into town very easy, will use again. thank you.
- Chun Fai (8/5): - Sound proofing of room may need to be improved since there is noise from corridor and upper floor
- Baronie (10/5): - Clean, neat and friendly staff. Good bathroom facilities and lots of storage. Bed was a little snug for 2 sharing.
- Seda (10/5): - We liked the room. The breakfast was very delicious. The bed was a little bit small for us, but this was not their fault, because they stated the bed size in the room properties.
- dawn (6/5): - Long queues to book in. But a third person did come to help. Felt a little like I was in a bank and the manager came to out of his office to ‘bust that queue’
Rooms need some maintenance but are just as they show on the net.
- Fatemeh (10/5): - It is in the university campus and very good for the visitors
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent use of student accommodation - Perfect for a solo stop over on a very long journey made 3 hours longer by traffic
- Furat (10/5): - .
- Carol (10/5): - Comfortable, clean room with great bus service into centre of Bath leaving your car safely parked in the university car park.
- Andrew (8/5): Ideal place for an event at the university - Very clean and comfortable stay. Some better signage to find the block would have helped. At breakfast we were told it was until 10am, a couple after me arrived at 9.40 to be told it finished at 9.30am.
- Benjamin (10/5): Short stay - One night stay. Comfortable rooms, secure location helpful staff. Would definitely return if visiting the area again
- Antony (2/5): - Dirty bathroom, hairs in the bed, missing handle on the shower, bedside lamp broken, ironing board broken. Very disappointing, I will be avoiding in future.
- Kane (10/5): Great for traveling to Bath - Had a problem with the TV so I got moved to a different room, but the staff were very helpful. Very good location. Very good for travelling alone.
- Helen (8/5): - Bed too soft. Food good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A kitchen you can't cook in! - The house was surrounded by cordoned off building works. Property advertised with kitchen, but be warned, there is no crockery, cutlery or pans, so you can't even make a cup of tea unless you take equipment. There was one grill tray which was absolutely filthy and contained old food. On arrival the staff at check in argued about giving me the token/ wristband to get breakfast, even though I showed my booking confirmation which clearly stated breakfast was included. The breakfast was decent. The room itself was clean but the flat sheet over the mattress stopped about 25cm from the top of the bed. I remade the bed but the sheet was only just long enough to reach from end to end (with nothing left to tuck in at the head or the foot.) The second night a hen party turned up so I got very little sleep. Mentioned it in passing at checkout because I kept yawning - they gave me a voucher to spend in the coffee shop, even though it wasn't their fault. At least I had enough caffeine to keep me awake on the drive home! This accommodation is OK for a cheap crash pad and it does have a good desk and free wifi, so useful if you need to get some work done. Convenient for exploring Bath as there is a regular bus service into the city centre that runs quite late. On the Sunday the buses didn't run on time: one didn't turn up, the next was very late, so a looong wait!
- Lolita (10/5): Very good stay - Very good stay. We are very happy with the room, breakfast and parking.
Especially breakfast - 5 star.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was not told beforehand that there were building works happening at the same time as my stay and only found out when I entered my room and saw several workmen directly outside my window. As I had been travelling all day, I just wanted to relax, which is hard to do when something is being continuously drilled into your wall. A sign on the window said the work would only take place 9-5, but continued until 7pm and I was woken up the next morning around 7:30 with the sound of work restarting and workmen spitting outside my window.
The overall cleanliness was poor, it was quite dusty and there were soap marks in the shower/sink and the floor wasn't clean.
The staff on reception were lovely and breakfast was great too.
If I had been aware of the building work beforehand, I wouldn't have stayed there and I'm annoyed that I've paid £55 for this.
- Ian (10/5): Good value alternative to ‘premier lodge’ - Great value accommodation in peak tourist season, room was clean and tidy and breakfast was much better than expexpcted when an equivalent premier inn would be £90/night
- Dan (6/5): - Rooms are tiny, not very clean. All average, but the only affordable place anywhere near site. Bath is a massive rip off
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Check in appalling no info key not working map inadequate
- Sally (8/5): - The only thing I would say is that a kettle/coffee in the room would have been great. Fine to make coffee in the kitchen in the evening, but having to get up and make oneself respectable before heading down the corridor in the morning to get coffee seemed less than ideal.
Otherwise, I was most impressed with the accommodation, and a good value-for-money breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The sports villiage is close by, and there is a nice atmosphere on the campus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well worth the money. Accommodation in Bath in the summer season is not cheap. Bit far from the city but a regular bus service till midnight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - ............................................................................................................
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice clean and quite...............................
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet and plentiful breakfast. Good bus service to city and free parking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and quiet. A bus or taxi ride requires as much too far to walk. Breakfast very commercial would worry lot of food wasted.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great accommodation close to Bath. - Excellent. Staff were all very helpful. You benefit from all the amenities of the University and you are close to Bath city centre and some great town and country walks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Room - I found hairs on the bed, towel and on the side - also the kettle kept tripping the electrics. other than that its great. The brekkie is super yum!
- Tom (8/5): Very good quality at an excellent price, BUT: - Difficult to find in the dark - the address wasn't full enough from the Expedia website and I ended up in a farmyard.
Having found it, the accommodation was very good: very clean and new, and the breakfast in te morning was very good, even if it was quite a walk away from the room; I'm not sure if there is a covered access for bad weather.
The worst thing was a motor running all night; I thought it was the fan in the bathroom at first but that had a different sound and stopped after switching it off. This noise sounded as though it was not in my room, but in the building, possibly in the room next door, It was not a general hum, but had a pulse to it which made it even more annoying.
- Anne (8/5): Good - Very helpful staff on reception. Clear instructions on how to get to my room(330 acres site) room was ok could do with painting. Food was excellent, hot and well cooked considering the large amount of people.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value for money - The room was spacious and had all I needed. The breakfast was excellent value for money. It was great to have a restaurant on site, including a bar. The parking arrangement was great too. Being able to hop on a bus which was really regular was great. Highly recommended.
- Saqib (4/5): Needs some attention - Not a good experience on last couple of occasions.
Booked the basic room the previous week and was surprised so had no choice but o upgrade at a cost, this time booked the comfort room at higher cost but this time TV did not work room was not fully clean and felt a little short changed
- L (6/5): Uni halls - It was as expected - student halls
No frills student accomodation with decent breakfast choice.
Good, very cheap bus service into Bath,
- Mark (6/5): - No towel no TV no cup in the room but it was cheap
- Paul (4/5): Not suitable for people on business. - Allocated a room with another guest in the room already . I entered the room to find a man in the room, luckily for all he was in a towel. Allocated another room, noisy with people trying my room door at all hours.
No towel in the room, the website did not explain that the room does not come with a basic thing like a towel.
Stifelling room and no air con
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great alternative place to stay in Bath. - The guest accommodation at the University of Bath is a great in between place to stay if you're looking for something less expensive than a hotel but nicer than a hostel.
- Gail (6/5): Student room on campus, shared facilities, parking - Single student room with hand basin in three storey block. 5 rooms on each floor sharing one loo, one shower. Very basic breakfast, toast, cereals and yoghurt or cooked, coffee machine, no fruit, no croissants. Parking closeby on campus in NCP car park, charges from 8am-5pm. Frequent bus service to city centre takes about 15 mins.
- OUStudent (2/5): Ver poor show Bath Uni - Arrived at 08:50, spent 5 mins or more trying to find the Hotel entrance, which I did not think was that well sign posted. Went to the Lime bar (Where breakfast is served), asked one member of staff where it was, she did not know, asked another who gave me wrong directions - grew start Bath Uni - Well done.
Checked in, staff excellent and very helpful.
Then tried to get a beer, oh dear - 2 bars on Campus - Both shut at 9pm. There is nothing that serves beer of food anywhere close.
Now I would say the room was excellent, if you ignored the fact that when I walked in, was obvious previous occupant had been a smoker, due to the nice weather tried to open windows - I could slightly, this turned out to be a bonus due to the incredibly noisy foreign language students, till late and don't mention the seagulls!!!
My room was near the entrance that every time somebody came in or out, the door slammed and tried to throw me out of bed. This went on until after midnight, started again at 6:30, but was awake well before that anyway due to the noisy seagulls.
I would say it was excellent if you ignored all of this things, but after no food, beer and minimal sleep - I can't.
- Verified traveler (6/5): night of the living dead - for $50, you can't be too choosy, especially when it's a dorm room. But there was something old about these dorm buildings. it was tough to figure out how the door locks worked. there was a shared bathroom and shower. I could handle that. But the worst part was the seagulls that haunted the place overnight and squawked intermittently in their demonic, gutteral way, keeping me awake. it was not a restful night. the nearby lime cafe had good food and a good selection. that's the saving grace--affordable food, healthy and a good selection. I was happy to leave. further, although i was a paying guest, and had the room till 10 a.m. on a weekday, I was told I had to clear out by 8 a.m. or pay a full day's parking fee. Yes, I had to shell out an additional 3 pounds english to stay past 8 a.m. it's a university, for pete's sake, not a Hyatt in NYC. Still, I paid and took the bus into town the next day. It was easy to grab the bus from campus and spare my nerves the driving on English roads on the wrong side.
- Heather (8/5): Excellent place to stay - The university is situated up the hill from bath, however it has an excellent bus service, that drops you off within a four minute walk of the accommodation block and takes you right to the bus station and Bath Spa train station. The area is lovely and quiet, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room is clean, bed very comfortable, hot shower. Kitchen area with microwave, fridge and tea and coffee supplied. The rooms and accommodation block are secure by use of a key card. Reception, cafe all close by, buffet beakfast is very good. Overall, a very nice place to stay and I would consider staying here again in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleasant and the restaurant was Really great - I just wanted a pleasant room, close to Bath and so very happy.I was visiting family and an event in Taunton.
- Andrew (8/5): Good value for money stay close to Bath - Stayed in a comfort single room during the week in September 2017, whilst working in Bristol. Small basic room (think of hard wearing to survive students!), very small shower room, clean and comfortable. Didn't need to test heating or ventilation. Average (but unlimited) breakfast, good kitchen facilities. Plenty of parking in the evenings, free overnight. Overall I'd be happy to stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient clean great student accomodation - Staff were helpful, it was a brilliant idea for visiting the uni, bus service into town prompt
- Jeff (8/5): Good student accomodation - Modern, bright student room with an excellent buffet breakfast in the canteen included.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was compact and cosy, perfect location for visiting Bath on a budget. I was very happy with my stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - bit hard to find due to it being on the campus, but brilliant whilst there
- Daniel (8/5): Great value accommodation for Bath - Overall, this place was great for 2 things: price and convenience. Busses are plentiful to the center of Bath, and if you're out too late for bus service on a weekend it's a cheap cab ride back to the hotel. The room was a tad small, but as I was traveling alone it didn't matter; I was in the city all day. The only downside was that the temperature control in my shower was broken, but it wasn't a big deal because the service was pretty good.
- Mike (10/5): City centre location - Excellent value for money. Would stay again
Pleasant surroundings on uni campus
- jennifer (6/5): Little boxes - Couldnt find it and it was just a box!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for a bed - If you don't want to pay hotel prices and need a bed on bath...book here
- Steve (6/5): Not value for money. - Some aspects were good, such as the position, convenience, tranquillity, transport links, breakfast and parking. The room was very spartan and the bed sheets did not fit properly and there was no mattress cover. The door lock was faulty. Therefore the room was not good value for money.
- Sally (8/5): Uni stay - Accomodation vert basic as expected , directions very poor.we weren't told where our booking was i.e. What block and where to park. It was good park and ride near by and buses every 20 minutes
- Paul (10/5): Will stay again - Pleasantly surprised with my single room with en-suite. Modern and comfy bed with TV and mood lighting and plenty of USB and power charging points. Breakfast was plenty and good variety. Was allowed to take my road bike into the room and felt very secure. Arrived late there and was still able to get food in the restaurant
- Verified traveler (6/5): Best for budget - Stayed in the basic single room, bedding was fresh room was clean. Communal kitchen had tea & coffee facilities and all kitchen appliances, old and mouldy food from previous people was still in fridges and cupboards, shared toilet and shower were really clean. The only bad part of the accomdation is that the walls are thin in the sense you can hear everything and everyone in the house, so as a light sleeper doesn't help but this might not conern others. Staff in accomdation office and the lime tree are really nice. The continental breakfast at the lime tree is good. I was at the accommodation for half a month for work and would come back late and the lime tree had hot pizza and choice of other food which was great.
- N (8/5): - Great place to stay if you wish to visit Bath Uni during the summer.
Staff very helpful in returning left-behind phone charger
- Verified traveler (4/5): Uni accommodation - Sticky floor, mouldy bathroom, no hand towels provided, only bath towels provided.
- Sandra (6/5): Clean and Tidy Accommodation - I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and its surroundings. As a sole female traveller I felt safe and secure. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful with any queries I had.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for a short stay visit to Bath. - Excellent value room, really cl an & modern with nearby kitchen with microwave, kettle etc. Also very basic lounge nearby but a 5 minute walk to the refectory for breakfast which was pleasant as weather was fine. Lovely selection of fruits, cereal breads and hot food as good as in a 4* hotel. Staff very helpful and obliging.
Website could have given details about the parking charges per day/ night as I had presumed it was free. Also had to move my car further away at certain times which was a little inconvenient.
- Michelle (10/5): Bath University - It was a decent stay for the price we paid.
- Norwich (6/5): Typical university accommodation - Room was comfortable but nothing special, what you would expect from university accommodation. Breakfast wasn't too great, the cooked breakfast was cold! Overall the stay was good and as you would expect for a university. Not sure I would stay again but the price was appropriate.
- Noel (10/5): The Comley review of August 2017. - Would stay again if in the area.
- Philip (6/5): Okay but basic - Very basic room but clean As I am a. Courier all I wanted was somewhere to sleep and shower.
- James (8/5): - Arrived st night in dark quite difficult to find. The listing information was not enough. We had to ask a few people where it might be and could not get the final directions on the GPS.
- Malene (8/5): Nice room - Nice afirdable room. Easy to get to Bath with the bus... but you should know that it is very quiet during the summer period.
- Jane (8/5): Conveniently located - Great location - cheaper and easier to park at the uni and bus in than try to park in the town centre. Staff were incredibly helpful. Room was just as the pictures portrayed it to be. For what you pay it's great.
Hotel facilities rated 4/5 simply because the shower curtain is annoying.
- nene (10/5): amazing - very comfortable room and good night sleep. modern and decent.
good breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap, simple, effective - The title says it all really. Not as enticing as a city centre hotel, but does the job for a fraction of the price.
- John (8/5): room clean and tidy ps the lock needs a look at! - hi had a problem with the lock on the room door, key kept on turning round in lock??room was clean and tidy with plenty of hot water great. seagulls outside making lots of noise even after 11.00pm at night????
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value - Such good value. Comfy bed and even includes a breakfast. Can't go wrong there. Due to the cheap price to do need to pay extra if you want towels tho, which was irritating. But otherwise, would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay, student accommodation some a little 'cell' like, but comfortable and very good value for money.
- ZACHARY (8/5): BATH TENNIS TOURNAMENT STAY - It was alright for a short stay & access to the tennis courts.
- Verified traveler (8/5): a clean and simple accomadation - The bed is comfortable. The shared toilet and bathroom are both clean . There is some spider web in the room on the ceiling. My room is in the grond floor near the kitchen, there is a little bit smell.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs more information, the WiFi was very poor. - There needs to be more information on what to do when you arrive, it is a very large campus and I had no idea where to go upon arrival, everyone was very nice but it was finding them that was the problem. Seems a little overpriced for what it is, it had wear and tear of student accommodation. The internet must be terrible for students, the campus did not seem that busy but on the evenings the internet was shocking and would of only been any good for email. Probably better for small groups, not ideal for business trips.
