Guest Reviews
- Diana (10/5): Nice bright room with a comfy bed and the loveliest host family - The room is nice and bright and comfortably big. It has a little cupboard to hang and lay your clothes. The bed is big and I found it super comfy! I slept very well. Pillows of two different sizes/thickness, which I appreciate a lot as I don’t like very thick pillows. Also I loved the blanket. Thicker than a sheet, but not too warm. I also got a towel and the bathroom had soap, shampoo and toilet paper. The AC worked well. Water kettle, coffee and tea are also provided. The outside area is nice to sit and relax. The place is super central at Jalan Hanoman, but you don’t get the noise of the street as the house is slightly in the back.
I also had 2 massages and one manicure in their spa. The massages were really good (proper strong Balinese massage) and the prices are very fair.
But what really made my stay outstanding was the family. They are so kind and lovely! They offered me their breakfast a few times and we sat together in front of their house and chatted for quite a while. Also the mother showed me how to make Canang Sari, the little offerings made from banana leaves, which she prepares every morning. They really made me feel welcome. I had booked 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights.
The parking situation was first a bit unclear as apparently parking on the street is not allowed anymore. In reality everyone parks their, but they told me police comes once a day and checks, but that they would warn me if I’m in the room. 😅 In the end it was no problem for me to park in front of the house on the street every day. The water in the shower takes quite long to become hot. First I thought there’s no hot water in general, turned out it just takes until the end of my shower time pretty much to become warm. 😅 For me not a big issue.
- Siri (10/5): Perfect! -
- Lea (10/5): - Our stay was just perfect! And especially the owner was one of the most helpful and kindest person I've ever met. She was always there to help us with everything and always had such a lovely and positive energy. The room was also perfectly clean, quiet and comfy. I was shocked by how good the value for money is at this place. I would not sleep anywhere else in Ubut anymore and can recommend everyone to come here!
- Kaan (7/5): -
- Shiju (10/5): - Edu the buddy who takes care of us plus everything there Nothing

- Anna (10/5): Amazing budget option; central location but very quiet - Really central and convenient for monkey forest etc., lots of places to eat and shop but so quiet, you couldn’t hear any noise at all! The hosts are super nice and helpful. Great value for money. I guess the bathroom is starting to look a little tired but it doesn’t really matter.
- Jonathon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (9/5): Perfect for a short visit. I would stay again! - Friendly staff with a private room. Excellent location! Would like the bed to be slightly more comfy. But it was not too bad.
- Eleonore (7/5): Good -
- Irina (10/5): I loved my time at Rumah Ary Homestay and would definitely stay here again 🥰 - My room was extremely comfortable, clean, and pretty - and with my extended stay, it really felt like home. The family who runs the Homestay are lovely.
- Romina (10/5): Thank you !! :) - July and Michael are amazing!!! They go out of there way to make the guest comfortable!! Thank you for everything! If I go to Ubud, I will stay here :) Nothing, all good.
- Nadine (10/5): Exceptionally - A fantastic place. The owners are super friendly and helpful. There is coffee or tea in the morning which is very tasty. The room will be cleaned if you want it, you just have to let them know. You can go for a massage. The room and bathroom are modern, bright and really clean. The air conditioning is top. I would definitely go back.
- Hababy (7/5): Thanks to Micheal and his family for everything ! If I ever visit Bali again I will spend sometimes - It’s a home stay it’s decent if you’re on a budget trip !
- Danielle (7/5): The host was very friendly and the room was nicely prepared when I arrived. - The host was very friendly and accommodating! She helped arrange transportation to the airport very early in the morning and was there to see me off. The entrance was difficult to find at first. The sign is different from what I saw in the pictures and google maps shows that it is on the opposite side of the street. Fortunately, the neighbours were very helpful and pointed me in the right direction.
- Melo (8/5): Very good - Likes: Nice Balinese house and the room has terrace and clothes rack. They provide hot water every morning and on my last day, they accommodated my request to have hot water at an earlier time. Clean bathroom with exhaust fan. Room has cabinet which you can lock. Pretty comfortable stay. Nice location with shops and good restos nearby.
Dislike: they cancelled my first night coz fully booked so I had to look elsewhere.
- Anja (10/5): Lovely service and a beautiful stay! - Fantastic service and a beautiful property. I loved staying close to Balinese families and being around local traditions. The breakfast was great and I loved having a thermos of hot water to make coffee on my balcony. The wifi was unfortunately a bit weak at times
- Irina (10/5): My stay here has been super comfortable, pleasant, and all around ideal 👍🏽 - My room is lovely! Very clean, comfortable and I love my balcony. The family that own and run the Homestay are super sweet, helpful, and accommodating. Also, even though there is a street address, the place is quite far removed from the busy and noisy street…which is perfect. For me, it feels like a home away from home 🥰 No complaints!
- Laurette (7/5): Was okay for the price and was not in the room very much - No breakfast ants in the sugar
- Ella (9/5): Loved it! Comfy, pretty, relaxing and great location - The location was so perfect, the rooms were so nice. the beds were so comfortable, I stayed in a twin room with my friend and the beds were so big comfy and spacious. The staff were so lovely and friendly. It had a very relaxing vibe a d quiet evening though it was right in the centre and the pool was so nice to have too!
- Doris (7/5): Good - -location
-quiet in busy Ubud -bathroom
-dark room
- Nami (7/5): Overall it was nice - Good value for price. Room smelled amazing! One of few places that asks if you want the room cleaned. Good location to walk into town. Lovely kind hosts. Unfortunately it was a bit noisy. Construction and children were quite loud, so not a great place to work from during the day. But if you’re out during the day and come back in the evening, it’s not a problem.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Denis (10/5): Best location, warm owners, green and beautiful. - The location is really the best. Pretty much the center of everything you could think of — Monkey Forest + the biggest supermarket + all of the coffee shops and restaurants.
The atmosphere within the premises is quite nice. The courtyard is all green and beautiful. The wi-fi (especially on the 2nd floor) is not great for working, or video calls. That's probably easily fixable, so that's not that big of a deal, you can also buy a sim card with a hotspot available that would solve the issue.
The second minor problem was that there's a really loud rooster, but you can opt to earplugs (bring earplugs!).
Other than that it's all good.
- Genevive (8/5): Very good -
- Marco (10/5): Exceptional - The location is very good near to ubud palace and monkey forest and many shops near to it and famous restaurant and cafe ,, the room very clean , i didn’t find any insects inside the room during my stay There is no kattle in the room
there is no fridge
- Gisele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (9/5): Friendly , clean and wonderfully located - Really friendly staff, the room was cool with both air conditioning and fan . The shower worked very well (good pressure) and we were delivered hot water to make ourselves tea / Balinese coffee every morning ! A lovey place to stay :) extended our stay for two more nights to stay here longer .
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tiagoua (8/5): Very good - Great facilities. Good breakfast for the price. Only negative is the WI Fi connection which was constantly breaking so I had to use my mobile hotspot.
- Krystal (6/5): Good location. Good for a short budget stay. - Good location. Area is not too crowded. Easy access to main attractions. Lots of food options and shops. Friendly staff. Room smelled very musty. There are no windows, only the large sliding door which I had to keep closed because my room was on the ground level.
- Furkan (8/5): Very good - Clean, comfortable, good location, good price. Too many lizards and mouse voices at night.
- Gabriel (9/5): Great service and great value for money. - Great location, very helpful and friendly staff, room was very clean, air conditioning worked perfectly and very good value for money! If I’m being picky, the bed was quite hard and not as comfortable as I would like (but for the price you pay to stay it’s not something I can argue much). The coffee provided in the morning came in a thermos which unfortunately was as dirty both nights.
- Jacqui (8/5): Right on Hanoman Street and close to Coco mart and cafes - Clean, hot water for tea, somewhere to hang clothes Downstairs room so Dark and family very close. Didn’t feel peaceful but I prefer to have space away from the family.
- Rita (8/5): Very good -
- Elena (10/5): Excellent - Nice and clean and polite Everything was great
- Kyung-ok (7/5): Good -
- Reggie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Anirban (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing room - Everything was so nice, clean, super quiet. The family very respectful. Bring me everyday hot water to make my coffee in the morning. Really appreciate. Also the breakfast was good!
- Victoria (10/5): A wonderful find - Though in a busy area (and walking distance to the Monkey Forest and other attractions) the property itself was far enough from the street to be very quiet.
The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast (optional at a small charge) was very good - an having breakfast served on the terrace in front of the room was very nice. On mornings I didn't eat at the homestay, I enjoyed the coffee service provided (coffee, sugar, tea if you like and a thermos of hot water waiting on the table on the terrace.
I arrived very late but they were expecting me and immediately showed me to my room (helping with the luggage) and let me complete check-in and payment the next morning.
The room had both a/c and a fan which I find the best combination and the wifi was very good (dropped once or twice briefly during my stay of several days, but was otherwise fast and reliable). There was nothing I didn't like.
- Andrea (9/5): Cozy and quiet place - Everything! Cozy place, clean room and comfy bed. Pretty quiet place close to everything Nothing. It would be great if it included breakfast
- Karim (10/5): More than money's worth - Despite being located on a busy road, it is surprisingly quiet. The staff is nice and helpful. Everyday they provided coffee and tea on the balcony for without even havong to ask for it. You get more than your money's worth here.
- Lizzet (10/5): Exceptional - A great home stay, super comfy bed, everything was clean, and they even have an adapter/charger for phones.
Their massage therapist is amazing 🤩
100% recommended
- Momir (7/5): Good -
- Katharine (6/5): Decent place but needs some TLC. - Very nice people. Good location, thermos of hot water daily. Tired room, shabby bathroom.
- Nalini (10/5): Wonderful staff who are always helpful, clean and comfortable room, in a great location! - Wonderful staff who are always helpful, clean and comfortable room, in a great location!

- T. (10/5): Don't think twice, book this place. - Everything. Spacious room and bathroom, great balcony space with free coffee, tea and sugar on the table. Very clean overall, bed is comfy, AC works nicely, wifi is great enough to have teleconferences and stream movies. Staff are fabulous and very helpful. Location is amazing, walking distance to supermarket, atms, laundry, tons of warungs, bars, and the monkey forest. Great massage at your doorstep. There is a communal fridge you can use. Best part: they drop a thermos every early morning with mugs so you can have a coffee right after you wake up! We liked it so much we are actually extending our stay here. Nothing.
- Nalini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olga (10/5): Amazing value for this price, quiet but in the center. Recommended !!! - Quiet place but in the downtown/center, very clean, big bed and AC with a fan, amazing value for this price. Family is very welcoming ! Thank you very much!
- Joyce (9/5): Superb -
- Inbalshoham (8/5): Very good - Very clean, comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot water, AC + fan, great location, family is very nice! The room isn't being cleaned during the stay
Room a little small

- Arthur (8/5): Very good -
- Sdf- (9/5): Superb - Very clean and seemed quite new. Nice view from upstairs rooms and room gets a lot of sunlight. Aircon is a plus. The location is one of the best in Ubud. The WiFi doesn't really work properly in the upstairs room. It connects for ten minutes and then will disconnect for two minutes continually. The staff had someone try to fix the issue, but they were not successful. Not recommended for anyone who needs to be online regularly (maybe a downstairs room is better). Bathroom did not have a pleasant smell after using the shower. Room was not cleaned for duration of stay.
- Ashley (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Nalini (10/5): Fabulous! Would definitely recommend Rumah Ary Guesthouse :-) - A cosy, family run place with warmth and always a smile, and ready to assist when needed. Great location, walking distance to restaurants, shops, sights, etc. And great massages available on site! Everything was great!
- Nalini (9/5): An awesome place to stay while in Ubud, definitely recommend it. - The staff are super friendly and helpful. Comfortable, clean room with an outdoor sitting space. Great location, walking distance to restaurants, activities, supermarket, everything in Ubud! Nothing at all, loved it!
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - They wewre kind There wasnt enough turtles
- Ashwin (10/5): Awesome Stay! - Mr. Kadek helped us all the way from the Airport pickup. Its a family run setup where they pretty much do everything. To us it was worth it as we didn't have to haggle with folks. He showed us around Ubud and we did white water rafting one day as well. Room is quiet and away from the street, homestay folks are very kind and helpful. If we come to Bali again we will surely stay again.Room is clean, large and decent air con. Bathrooms are clean as well
- H (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evan (8/5): - As a whole I thought the property was great value for what it is. The a/c worked fine, breakfast was good, and the family was very nice. The main reason why I'm unable to give them a better review, is that they overcharged us by 100k rupiah each for a ticket to gili. However they were nice enough to reschedule the trip at the very last moment due to a sudden illness. All in all, a good stay, but buy your onward travel tickets elsewhere.
- Mr. (8/5): Good Breakfast, Friendly Staff and Location. - I like the breakfast, the friendly staff and the location. The bed was hard and the bathroom smelled, probably from humidity or the drainage.
- Graham (10/5): Happy as - Really clean, friendly, quiet, good breakfast. I had a good stay. Could be nice if it had a pool. Entrance through alley off-putting but as one enters the property at the back it's obviously lovely.
- Jakub (8/5): Nice and quiet place - Located in a courtyard this place provided some privacy, except for occasional rooster sounds it was calm and quiet, the walls were good, so the neigbours were not disturbing. The room was clean, bathroom too and had a door (which is not standard here as we have learned XD).
AC was sufficient.
The staff was very nice, tried to make a different breakfast for us everyday. the bathroom could use some ventilation
- Ashley (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient and quiet area.
A bit difficult to find. Some drivers had problem to find the place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Moldy, cups/silverware covered in lipstick - Upon checkin the smell of mold was overwhelming, but it is the tropics, so I turned on the air conditioning and fan in the bathroom to air out the room for a few hours. Was manageable through the night. When breakfast the arrived the next morning, it was clear that the mugs had not been washed from the past guest- they were covered in lipstick. At this point, I decided to end my stay early as I just did not trust the cleanliness any longer. Didn't use the duvet in the room, as there was no top sheet.
- Nuno (8/5): A lot of bang for your buck - This guesthouse is very cozy, the owner is friendly and the room is comfortable and with great size. What I like most is the fact it is indeed a local home. The guesthouse is somewhat easy not to find, since there is only a small entrance that leads to 3 different guesthouses. The breakfast was à la carte (you could chose a couple of options). It was not plenty, but for the price you pay for the room, you can't ask a lot more. The only issue I had was with the internet connection; in my room the signal was very week and even around the grounds of the guesthouse, I always had difficulty to connect. As there is not tv in the room, having some wifi helps.
- rory (10/5): Bang for your buck! Delicious breakfast... - Room was clean and spacious with powerful shower and large bed, only minor complaint would be no top sheet, but other than than amazing amenities for the price. We loved the breakfasts which were bought up to our room by our friendly host, he offered fair prices for beer, tours etc as well. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
- Brendan (6/5): Nice place but bad internet, expensive - The hostel itself is very nice, well located on the main street in Ubud. Breakfast is nice, and the rooms are very cozy and comfy. However, for $15/night (which in my opinion is expensive for Indonesia), I would expect to have great wifi. Unfortunately, the internet kept cutting out for me on the second floor, and even when I went downstairs to the reception it wasn't so good. If you aren't too picky about price, it's a very relaxing, quiet place, but for me, good wifi is critical. I've stayed in $3 hostels where the internet was better than this place. So consider that before you book here.
- sang yoon (10/5): first time in ubud - i had a good stay. the bed sheets where a little itchy. but everything else was perfect the breakfast was good. the service was great. the roosters is loud every morning but a great way to get up. can't go wrong. thanks for a pleasant stay oh by the way go ro the coffee shop aunmam next door on rhe second floor the best coffee shop great view down the street a vegan buffet for 500.000 all you can eat awesome.
- Oriana and Mark (8/5): Secluded Homestay in the middle of Ubud - Stayed in room downstairs, which was nice and clean, but would have preferred upstairs room with sunset views over roofs of Ubud.
Despite the general cleanliness of the place, the only criticism was that the flask and crockery appeared to have seen better days and have not been cleaned in a very long time.
Overall the breakfast was satisfactory, especially as we paid £11 per night which included breakfast.
The host and her family were friendly and helpful, although be aware that reception is not always manned and therefore ask any questions whenever you see someone. If they don't understand they call the host immediately.
The homestay is located on a busy road, but tucked away nicely and therefore no noise at all is to be heard from the road. It's in the middle of town and in easy walking distance of the Monkey Forest, the market, shops and loads of cafés/restaurants.
