Guest Reviews
- Florence (6/5): - The outside of the building looks terrible. Abandonbed. I thought my husband was joking when he said that was it.
But the inside was completely redone and surprisingly modern and clean.
Communication was terrible, but thank goodness the couple who cleans was there and they were a huge help, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get our access code.
- JYOTHI (8/5): North Star Was a Pleasant Stay - North Star Apartments in Rif was a pleasant stay. Nothing exceptional. But it was good. The apartment was adequate for a family of five (my 4 year old slept with Mom in bed). We were able to get extra sheets, pillows, and bedding from a couple that stayed on the floor with us. I think they were the custodial/janitorial staff. No one else was in the property which was eerie for us. But it turned out OK. The exterior of the property looks run down and old but the inside of the place is as fine as any other hotel or apartment. No food here. But there are nearby towns and restaurants. We didn't get the email/message notification for our stay and the key entry. We checked our junk mail/spam folder as well but nothing. So we had to call the main office and get that. Luckily, someone picked up and answered to get us that info. Other than that, North Star was a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place was clean and had a comfortable bed. The TV had less than 5 channels, of which some did not work all the time. But there are plenty of beautiful sights to see in the area!
- Sunday (8/5): - The place I stayed Apartment 7 was really comfortable.it has its own stove bathroom, spacious room and a ref. When we went in we just found out there were 2 big flies and I dont know where it came from. From the outside the building looks run down but inside it was clean and well maintained. There is no reception there and you only get an email for the code to get in into the room so be aware.I read one review that she didnt know about it and the email went to her spam.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice inside. Two rooms are large. Close to the national parks: very short drive to see the craters and to join the lava cave tour.
- Wes (8/5): - When we first arrived to the property, we weren't sure if it was for real. The outside looked like it was an abandoned property, as there is a spot where what used to be a supermarket now lies dormant. There were rust stains on the walls, and not a soul in sight. However, when we opened the room we were very surprised to see its condition. It looked like a 4-star hotel room as everything is clean and modern. There's one TV channel for cable but it was a nice, quiet place to spend the night. Check-in was a breeze, and there were no issues at all with the amenities provided.
- Fidel (8/5): Surprise! - We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. When we pulled up, it appeared as the hotel was abandoned. It looked pretty run down on the outside. When we finally got into our room, we were pleasantly surprised of the nice and clean room with the kitchenette. We only stayed for one night, but we enjoyed our stay there. There is nothing in the area for restaurants, stores, etc.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The towel was dirty and a very bad smell in the room and in the bed clothes
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No check in counter, email was sent promptly a week before your stay for access code. Room with kitchenette was clean and nice and located in a quiet town with minimal activities. Definitely will stay again.
- Namhun (2/5): Heater not working - The room was large enough to stay 3 people. The equipment was also okay. HOWEVER, the heater was not working. I contacted the number that was mentioned at the room. Even though the staff came after one hour, he couldn't speak English at all. His body language indicated the temperature would be going up after 1 hour. HOWEVER, the heater didn't work in ICELAND!! Also they didn't response at all after the first communication. Terrible service!
- clay green (8/5): dont judge book by its cover - nice room, kitchen, but outside of building lacks attention and no TV or microwave as advertised. very convenient location to national park.
- Lisa (8/5): quiet and quaint - Nice hotel in tiny location. No service, you are on your own. They have TVs with only one channel, and music channels. Clean and comfy.
- GAURAV (8/5): Avoid if possible. - No checkin desk, no staff. Really dirty linen.. bed sheets stained. Towels dirty. Had to use own linen. No facilities. Would avoid. Better and cheaper options available.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - TV cable was broken and one of the electric outlets were open i.e. electric hazard
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, spacious and comfortable - The location of this hotel is excellent, close to the glacier that draws everyone to this area. Food and groceries are available within a 5 to 6 km radius. Our apartment was very nice, clean and spacious, with sea views. The building has no elevator, so you have to carry your bags up the stairs. Overall a great place to stay.
- stanley (2/5): never come here again - feel like we stayed behind the factory and run down property !
- Andrew (10/5): Pleasant stay - Very good apartment. Ideal base to view all attractions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy and clean - Very clean and comfy room with a kitchinette. Heated floor was very welcomed after a chili and rainy day. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great start to our trip accommodations! - I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this location - there were not a ton of options near Rif to stay, but my friends and I were pleasantly surprised! I'm thankful for the reviews here so I knew to look for the code to let us into the hotel, otherwise, that may have been an obstacle. The room was clean, the accommodations great, and the kitchenette was a nice addition. For this price, I would send anyone looking to stay in the area to this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean hotel - Located in the sleepy fishing town of Rif, this hotel was very easy to find. There is no front desk when you check in but you will receive a password for the keypad on the assigned rooms. The whole process was seamless. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The floors in the bathroom were heated which was a great advantage in the middle of the night. Our only concern about this hotel was that it supplied a coffee maker but no coffee was provided. I suggest they leave single serve sizes for future guests.
