Guest Reviews
- Thiseas Panagiotis (10/5): - Great stay at Elia Dorotheou! Everything was perfect—clean apartment, excellent staff, and very good cleaning service. Comfortable, well-located, and highly recommended!
- Iris (8/5): -
- Solin (10/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): - Good breakfast.
Quality room Room was directly over pavement cafe restarant. Noisy in evenings.
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Barry (5/5): - Room made up well every day There was no key to the safe, and even the two spares had gone missing so we had 2 weeks of carrying all our valuables and passports everywhere.
Very little natural light
- Marco (8/5): -
- Christina (8/5): - - friendly staff
- good location. Near sightseeing places, 10mins walk from KTEL bus stop
- good variety breakfast - Next door is a restaurant, so it can be a bit noisy at night
- Hadasik (9/5): -
- Alex Z-B (8/5): - Schönes Zimmer in sehr zentraler Lage.
- Lorit (10/5): -
- Tomas (8/5): All in all good value for the money. - I liked the cleanliness, located in the heart of the city. It was a bit noisy in the evening since there were tables downstairs where people were dining snd drinking.
- Julie-Anne (8/5): Very clean, convenient - Very convenient to Old Chania Town It was all perfect
- Abir (9/5): Superb - Well located in the center of the old town, cute and cosy rooms. Breakfast was good, fair enough for the price and the people on the reception were so helpful and welcoming.
- Israa (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (6/5): - Amazing location on a charming side street in Chania and very walkable.
Can be tough to find initially though. There was a large stain on the chair which I used the provided robe to cover it up. Strange smell in the room which was off-putting. Quite loud until 2am every night since there is a restaurant directly outside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were amazing. Super friendly and helpful.
- Γωγώ (10/5): Exceptional -
- Αντώνης (10/5): Exceptional -
- leonormig (10/5): Perfect place in the city centre - Such a lovely little hotel in Chania town centre. The room was so comfy, and I had all I needed, including bathrobe, slippers, toiletries, fridge... super convenient.
Also, I would book just for the breakfast. Such a great selection and quite delicious
- Edel (9/5): Superb -
- Vafeiadis (6/5): Quite decent but really noisy. - The location was great and all of the staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was abundant and tasty. Starting with the location, my room was right above a cafe-bar-tavern so it was always very noisy as the window was really old and did not provide any soundproofing. Same with the building in general, there were always noises. Also the room was really small, I barely could sit by the desk in order to use my laptop. Lastly, the fact that the reception and breakfast was in a different location close by, was a bit inconvenient.
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good - Very clean, even tho it’s a B&B room cleaning service available every day, amazing staff and breakfast. In the center of the city. Extremely loud noise outside until 2 AM from bars and restaurants.
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Anastasiia (5/5): Not bad, but smell of dampness - The place is good, stuff is friendly, quite clean The smell of dampness! small window and noise from the street. But smell was the worst
- Ericansah (6/5): Great location to visit all interesting sites, with many food outlets and shopping streets - The location was great, right at the heart of Chania Old Town and close to all attractions, including the Venetian harbour and Lighthouse, the covered market (which was closed), a cathedral, a Franciscan monastery and main shopping street Chalidon.
The room had all the basics, including; a wardrobe, table and chair, airco, a TV set, bedside lamps and hot water. The washroom in the property can be improved with a normal tap handle and improved water pressure. The night time curtain did not cover the whole width of the windows. The street below was very noisy late into the morning. While the noise is understandable, given that the property is in the middle of the busy tourist area, a double glass panel at the window could help to reduce noise from the alley below. The room could be freshened up once again before a guest checks in.
- Irene (9/5): Would visit again for sure - Excellent location right in the heart of the city, small room but excellent choice to explore the city No elevator
- Lucia (8/5): Very good -
- Lucya (9/5): Superb - The comfy bed and the delicious breakfast The noise from outside until 2 am.....I can't sleep well ,:(
- Marculescu (8/5): Very good -
- Cameron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Konstantina (10/5): Excellent! - Location is amazing, super clean, comfortable and friendly stuff!
- Patricia (10/5): Great, comfortable and spotless place to spend some days in Chania ❤️ - My second time here and no doubt that I will come back if I come again to Chania ❤️ Everything is neat! Rooms always perfect, very comfortable beds and pillows and also great bathroom. Everything was perfect ❤️
- Ulvi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Limae00 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evgeniya (7/5): Good -
- Marina-andreea (9/5): Superb -
- Goda (10/5): Exceptional - Good stay. Great location
- Sînziana (9/5): Perfect choice for a short stay in the heart of Chania - Everything was very nice: the super central location, very friendly hosts, 24/7 reception, super clean and beautiful room, equipped with everything we needed.
- Patricia (10/5): Confortable, clean and really good place to stay in Chania 😍 - Everything was perfect, well located, super clean, comfortable and cute room. The bathroom and the shower was really clean and good, something sometimes difficult to find. Everything was perfect! The only thing is that parking is not included but it would be impossible as it is in the center of Chania where no cars are allowed.
- Christoforos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (5/5): Noisy! - Loud, nonstop bar noise past 3am. A hotel room where you can't sleep is as useful as a car that you can't drive.
- Dmitry (7/5): Good - Breakfast is really good compared to what can be expected from a two-star hotel. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A nice small restaurant with local cuisine on the ground floor. Very small and quite dirty bathroom. Not enough electric light in the room. Room fragrance has unpleasant smell. All clothes have the same smell thereafter.
- Adelaida (10/5): Exceptional - The location was excellent, in the heart of old town -- very closed to the shops and restaurants. Our room was in the back of the building so it was quiet. The room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly.
- Elias (1/5): Bad -
- Cortney (6/5): Pleasant - It’s a great location and the staff are helpful and kind. The room is small and dark. It sits right on the street so the noise at night is unbearable as people are out there until 2:30am.
- Jill (10/5): Excellent!! - Everything was good, from friendly check-in, great room with excellent facilities and a delicious breakfast.
We like the Elia hotels very much and have already booked another stay.
- Anonymous (10/5): Easy and short - Really nice accommodations
- Jacquie (8/5): Amazing location, great value. - Location was perfect for a short stay.
Lovely spacious room with coffee machine. Nothing really except the shower didn’t drain very well so the bathroom floor got wet.
- Johan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Iñigo (8/5): Very good - The hotel room had a wonderful, rustic, country vibe with beautiful flower bedsheets. It was in a great location with easy access. The staff was so wonderful and helpfull. We will 100% be recommending this hotel! The only problem we had was the noise from the street below. It was difficult to fall asleep due to the loud people sitting at the restaurant outside, and then in the morning the restaurant owners getting to work.
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian W (10/5): Elia - best in Chania? - can't go wrong with the Elia Hotels group
- Itamar (8/5): Very good - Location in center
Clean room
Nice stuff
Good breakfast
Good value for money The reception and breakfast are at different building 100m from the rooms.
The proximity to the church bell will wake you up everyday at 7:00
- Christakis (5/5): Overall a good stay. - Booking. Com does not give reliable info. Misleads clients by giving unclarified info causing problems. There was no reception at the place I stayed and this is not at all helpful. A big negative because you have to check in at another hotel of the chain before going to the room you stay.
- Cheri (9/5): Superb -
- Najat (9/5): awesome - modern room, very clean and well-equipped, the location is the best; in the heart of the old town very small, no elevator and noisy at night
- Mswoodall (8/5): Very good - Clean, great location and had the minimal comforts that I require. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cute room! The noise from the restaurant/bar next door. It was ok, until I had to get up early for day trips and the airport. The noise doesn't stop until approximately 2am.
- Liam (8/5): Very good - Staff, location, and facilities provided were all excellent. The bed was also incredibly comfortable . Would recommend staying here if looking for a short break in Chania. The room was a little tired and needed some redecorating/ general maintenance. The balcony was a nice touch but there were no chairs, so it couldn't really be used.
- Nuno (7/5): Noisy tinny hotel in central Chania - Stylish small room in central down town of Chania There's nearly any space to move in the room and the restaurant below is open until late night and the same adds difficult for people to sleep
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksandra (7/5): Good - The hotel is in a very central location and the room itself (although super small) was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and big bonus was letting me keep my luggage at the reception after checkout. The room is located above a bar that works until 2:30-3:00 after midnight. It’s is extremely loud (music and especially the people talking). I was even turning the TV volume very high as I couldn’t even hear/watch a movie.
- Veronica (6/5): - Veldig god service, helt ok rom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): 4/10 - I booked a room with balcony and they gave me room with just a tiny window over the bed overlooking a roof of another buildng so it was useless! They said that hotels.com made a mistake and lied that the hotel didn’t had balcony’s bit clearly you could see one on the third floor! So Hotels.com contacted them and they offered me a room with balcony the next day of my two day stay! I didn’t want it after cuz i didn’t wanna go through the hustle of changing rooms and i was upset that they lied to me when they said that the hotel doesn’t have balcony’s! The room btw was ok for the money you are paying in Chania! Plus the check in is a mess! You have to go to a sister hotel of that one to check in but that is not mentioned anywhere! I had luck to ask one of the people who was staying there in the hotel already and help me out!
- Tracy (10/5): Elia hotels in Chania Old Town - When I arrived I found they had moved me to another nearby property, Elia Potie. The room they gave me was larger than what I'd reserved, and had very nice decor. And a small balcony! It is in the heart of shopping & restaurants, and a short walk to the harbor. The only drawback was that there was a popular nightspot on the ground floor of the building, with music and crowd noises until around midnight. The noise level wasn't too much, and should not bother you unless you're a light sleeper.
Be aware, you will check in at Elia Betolo, a short distance from both Elia Dortheou Episkopou and Elia Potie. Breakfast is at Elia Betolo as well, if you reserved a room including that. Note that all three hotels are on the edge of the Old Town which restricts motorized traffic. If you have a car you will need to park and walk a distance to the hotel. Also, there are no lifts (elevators to Americans). There is only one key per room.
- Ekaterina (8/5): - Cute and comfy hotel, the only problem is the noise from outside restaurant, even with the windows closed cannot be avoided. But it is not the fault of the hotel really, just something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper.
- Michelle (8/5): First time to Chania! - We loved how spacious the room was and the hotel is in an awesome location. Front desk suggested we go to Golden beach and we’re glad we did! Short public bus to the beach. Awesome stay.
- Robert (8/5): - Friendly staff couldn't have been more helpful when I told them of noise from event happening in street below. Was upgraded to double room away from noise for remainder of stay - thank you. This small hotel is excellently located close to pretty harbour, restaurants and bus station. Had a great weeks holiday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Siisti hotelli keskellä kaupunkia. Siisti ja puhdas, myös kylpyhuone. Huone on pieni. Alapuolella taverna, joten äänet saattavat häiritä herkkäunista.
- TEK (4/5): - + Rooms are really nice: simple, clean and modern (I loved the bathroom faucet!).
+ Location is excellent.
+ Tv, air conditioner, safe locker, small refrigator, toothbrush, small shampoo bottle etc are found in the room. Also free wifi.
+ Bed is great (semi-hard mattress is really good for your back!) and memory foam pillow is great.
- Once you enter the building where the rooms are, you notice an odor which is best described as a mix of fresh paint and a mold problem. Later I noticed that air humidity is quite high and water stays on a shower floor for a very long time, if you don't wipe it with a towel. There's definitely mold problem in this building.
- Closed windows don't block any sound here, so bring your earplugs if you are bothered by sounds when you sleep - there's a small restaurant under windows. With ear plugs I slept ok.
- No light-blocking curtains in the rooms, so you might wake up early in the morning because of the light.
- Tiny, black, flying butterfly-looking insects in the bathroom.
- And finally the worst: Cockroaches. Hotel stuff was really nice until I very politely told them that there was two cockroaches in my room. No apologing, no nothing, just explaining that "we don't have them in our house, they come outside".
Despite the moldy odor and other little minuses I first really liked this place and was planning to come back with my family, but this cockroach-episode changed my mind.
- TEK345 (4/5): I wish I could like this hotel more, but... - + Rooms are really nice: simple, clean and modern (I loved the bathroom faucet!).
+ Location is excellent, right in the middle of an old town. Hotel lobby (where you pick up the keys) is really close.
+ Tv, air conditioner, safe locker, small refrigator, toothbrush, small shampoo bottle etc are found in the room. Also free wifi.
+ Bed is great (semi-hard mattress is really good for your back!) and memory foam pillow is great.

- And finally the worst: Cockroaches. Hotel stuff was really nice until I very politely told them that there was two cockroaches in my room. No apologing, no nothing, just explaining that "we don't have them in our house, they come outside".
Well, of course they originally come from outside, but my windows were always closed, those cockroches were really fat/big (there's restaurant in same building) and they knew exactly how to navigate in the room so they definitely weren't there "by mistake" or just because of an single accident.
Despite the moldy odor and other little minuses I first really liked this place and was planning to come back with my family, but this cockroach-episode and how to stuff handled it, changed my mind.
I left 4 euro tip every day for the cleaners and tried to be a nice customer in every way, but when there's cockroaches in my room, they don't even apologize or say that it's unfortunate.
Because of that, my earlier 4/5 ranking is now 2/5.
- stiffjegs (10/5): Tidy and great location - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and staff considering how little I spent. The location is excellent as it is only a stones throw from the main tourist area. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very central - Not really a hotel-just a building with 5 letting bedrooms. Good bathroom and excellent shower
- s (8/5): - Jättefint, Lagom stort tum, med sköna sängar o lugn miljö, mitt i chania
- 815antonis (4/5): Damp and mouldy room - When we booked this room we were aware of the fact that it has only a small window and no balcony. When we got there we realised that the walls in the bathroom and the bedroom itself had visible damp, and the room smelled strongly of mould, probably due to bad ventilation. We asked to be moved to another room but were told there were no rooms available. We ended up finding alternative accommodation for our stay in Chania.
The staff were polite and we got a refund for our room.
Maybe other rooms in other hotels of this group are fine, but it was not possible for us to stay in this particular room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very charming place
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice hotel - good clean comfortable and relaxed room for a day stay in the center of old town
- Dimitris (10/5): Το Καλυτεροτεροτερο. . . .
- Lisa (8/5): Central and comfortable hotel - Really comfortable room and friendly service
- javgeris (6/5): ΑΓΕΝΕΣ ΠΡΟΣΩΠΙΚΟ! - The location was very good and the room clean.
However, there was no room to dry your towels and your swimming suits and the personnel the rudest I have ever met in any trip I have made (and I have made a lot!!).
Not recommended to stay there!
