Guest Reviews
- Zara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tiyasha (10/5): Amazing service and staff - Honestly surprised at how nice the views were from the hotel and how welcomed we felt, the nearest beach was also a 5minute walk which made it so easy.
Not only that but before checking in I was unlucky to get a venomous sea urchin spike and upon arrival the hotel staff were kind enough to take us to the nearest hospital to get it checked and cured, they even stayed the whole time we were in there. Upon payment it seemed the hospital staff overcharged us by over 10x the usual price and the hotel staff did not like it, so they called their boss to complain about the price. Whilst I was there they tried to get me a refund but it was not possible so instead they published a facebook post to warn other people coming to the area not to go to that hospital. As a kind gesture the hotel staff then gave us free drinks and a free leg massage. I’m shocked at how good the hospitality is in this place.
- Luca (10/5): Great stay with ocean view - Beautiful little house just in front of the ocean, you can hear the sound of the waves throughout the night which is amazing.
Great view from our porch.
We had both dinner and breakfast here which were both great.
Staff was very welcoming and helpful, highly recommended Slightly small room but not a big deal for short stays
- Sanchit (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (8/5): Exceptional location, delicious breakfasts. Nice rooms. - Beautiful location View from room was beautiful and could fall asleep listening to the waves. Very short walk to two beautiful beaches, cafes, restaurants and yoga. Amazing breakfasts, especially the French toast- the best I’ve ever had! Sink was blocked, no side tables, bed side lamps or charging points next to bed and no surfaces in bathroom to put toiletries.
- Shahriar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Excellent location, facilities and food - The property was amazing, right by the beach with excellent views and beautiful facilities to enjoy such as common sitting areas and its own small balcony. The breakfast which were included in our case were exceptional with large portion sizes and amazing quality. Unfortunately, the restaurant staff and some of the hotel staff did not display very good customer service and often seem disgruntled at small requests were often on phones and not seeming very happy to be at work. Some of the staff members were excellent including the reception stuff however it was obvious amongst myself and my other guests that there was much progressing me made with some of the customer service.
- Mustafa (7/5): Good -
- Gillian (10/5): Great Stay - Lovely hotel by the sea, you can’t swim there, but watching the waves crashing against the rocks is very therapeutic.
The staff were great and helped us with anything we needed, including doing my laundry. My partner and I had a massage on site while we were, which is recommended.
The food was sooo tasty, we had breakfast every morning and dinner one night, which was delicious.
Highly recommend staying here.
- Naduni (10/5): Marvelous - A nice and calm place with beautiful sea view, ( cant get off my eyes from this view) nothing
- Otto (8/5): Very good -
- Irem (10/5): In general a wonderful place - The view ,location , the restaurant and service was amazing The rooms needs at least some cloth hangers and the windows mosquito net or swatter
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Thimathi (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent food
- Ellen (8/5): Very good - Amazing location, easy walk to the beach (if you ever want to leave the views at the accom), with restaurants and cafes nearby.
The staff were so kind to give us a welcome drink and foot massage on arrival. They were helpful for the entire stay and great to chat with. The clay cabins are really cool but just need a bit of maintenance after the busy season. There were gaps in the door and ceiling that were stuffed with tissue paper. We had quite a few ants come into the room, so might be a good idea to replace the door.
- Becca (8/5): Very good - Beautiful sea views. As our rooms air conditioning was broken, they upgraded us to the clay house in front of the restaurant which had the best views. Breakfast was included and the best breakfast we have had whilst travelling Sri Lanka :) The check in staff was rude, asking why I am late checking in as everyone else today has checked in, when in fact on what’s app earlier I was asked what time I would be checking in and arrived within the times I confirmed.
Although the view of the clay house is incredible, as it is right next to the restaurant it is noisy and a large speaker is right by the bathroom window with music playing until late
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lewis (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (8/5): The best views - The location and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. One of the best breakfasts we've had and so well presented. Wish we were staying in Hiriketiya longer for the views alone A few issues with the room (No.7), very small for a "family room" - nowhere to hang towels, no bedside table for the bunk beds. Our room was below a seating area and the noise from chairs moving above us was incredibly loud and disturbing. As it's a bar/restaurant above the room it was very disruptive for sleep if you go to bed early.
- Aleks (7/5): View is incredible but they need better trained staff - View was exceptional, the restaurant / bar view is phenomenal. The ocean noise at night is soothing. Staff are not very accommodating nor enthusiastic. Any bit of assistance you request feels like a burden. The accomodation is overpriced, as the clay houses are not in good condition, the door doesn’t close properly and the shower door doesn’t close. Things in the room were broken eg.towel rack.
- Natalie (9/5): Beautiful calm two minutes from the main beach entertainment - the views and surroundings were stunning.
the food is exceptional here.
- Julie (7/5): Lovely setting and breakfast was the best we had. - Amazing breakfast
Only thing that let it down was the lock on the front door. And also bathroom door didn’t shut. Easily sorted.
- Daniel (10/5): Cosy stay with epic view and great food & drinks - Beautiful location and view from our bungalow. Really nicely done simple modern clay bungalow perfect for a family. Contrary to some other reviews there were no insects at all getting in (maybe that’s the clay family deluxe sea view house vs the other wooden ones - so ask for that one if concerned). Very comfy. Great fusion food with huge portions and nice choice - we didn’t try much other places in the area cause we almost always wanted to eat there. Seriously good drinks. Staff are nice guys. Every morning seemed like a parade of different kind of animals - monkeys, peacocks, chipmunks - great for kids.
- Khaled (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (7/5): Good location but likely better value for money elsewhere - Good location in between Dikwella and Hiriketiya beaches (a short walk to both). Air conditioned room, helpful staff, kettle for tea/coffee More expensive than other similar accommodation in the area (and others included breakfast). Near to a bar with music playing 8am-10pm. The front 2 or 3 huts have a great view of the sea, but most look onto the back of another hut.
- Eva (7/5): Good - The location, staff and food were excellent The staff is excellent, super friendly but the management is only interested in $ and this was obvious when they insisted on charging their bank charges of 3% to the customer « us » (in addition to the already 10% service charge). This is illegal in Sri Lanka and our reservation with booking.com clearly stated all taxes and charges were included. This is bad practice and should not be allowed.
- Frances (9/5): Beautiful locations with sea views - Amazing location, and the breakfast was great! We loved our stay, with it being only 5min walk to Hiriketiya beach, or a short TukTuk ride to Dickwella beach.
The property is beautiful, & we would recommend for anyone looking for a great place to stay in Hiriketiya.
- Katrina (9/5): Wonderful property & views. - The views are incredible, especially as we had the family room closest to the sea. The food is incredible too. The room is well kitted out. The bathroom was a little basic
- Egidia (9/5): We felt we had found the best place to stay in the area. - Clay house is situated perfectly between Hiriketiya and Dikwella beach , short walking distance to both.
The view from the property is nothing but stunning . The Gardens around all the rooms were beautiful .
The food was some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka , delicious … Nothing
- Dasith (7/5): Good - I think this place more prefer to the overseas people compare to locals.
Foods good for the overseas.
Good vibe.
Service was all right.
Good for young lads. Service, Service may need to be improve.
- Joao (6/5): Pleasant - - Nice location, just a short walk from the beach and away from the busiest area.
- Nice food at the restaurant.
- Friendly staff. - The view from the Family Room with Sea View is amazing, but you're also the view of the restaurant clients. If you want to enjoy the room view, you need to be prepared to not have much privacy in your room since everyone in the restaurant terrace and see to your room if the blinds are open.
- No shower gel neither shampoo in the room.
- The lights constantly go out when you're showering.
- The service at the restaurant is a bit slow.
- The Wifi was not working in our room
- Nevedha (8/5): Very good -
- Rahal (10/5): Exceptional - The location and view Nothing
- Jelte (8/5): Very good - Nice cabana and view! Food tastes great but takes very long. Expect to wait for 45 minutes on your breakfast after ordering.
- Nikhileswar (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Idyllic - Location: WOW. A stunning sea front view. Having the waves crashing on the rocks as you have a drink or some food in the bar is something truly special. The food and cocktails from the bar are absolutely top notch, some of the best we had during our time in Sri Lanka. It's a short walk to Hiri beach and Pehembia beach in either direction, around 10 minutes tuk tuk ride to Turtle Point. The room was top class, a sea view, well equipped, comfy bed, and good facilities. We honestly couldn't have hoped for more from this, which was our "treat" at the end of our tour of the country. It can be a little loud from the bar area in the evenings, this didn't bother us as we were very much a part of the noise but something to bear in mind if you're planning an early night
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and quiet location, amazing food
- Tilda (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place and a great mix of modern and authentic style! The restaurant by the sea was wonderful for breakfast. Walking in 2 minutes to dikwella and 5 to Hiriketiya, so perfect location!
- Allan (10/5): Exceptional - Great yoga in the morning, cafe, and perfect location.
A great stay for the price we had.
- Gregscott (8/5): Ideally located accomodation with a cracking view - Good location about equidistant from Dickwella and Hiriketiya beaches. The view from the hotel is amazing, overlooking the sea crashing onto the rocks. We had breakfast included which was one of the best breakfasts we had while in Sri Lanka. The check-in process wasn't great as there wasn't anyone at reception although I didn't inform them what time we were arriving. The room is also pretty small so we were a bit on top of ourselves with our luggage in the room. The door was broken as well so we couldn't lock our room although that didn't worry us at all.
- Gav (9/5): Wonderful place with very attentive staff - Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Really good food. Avi the manager was very helpful when we requested assistance with a medical matter. He also joined us to do some painting! Room 07 the family room has a fantastic view of the sea but it is surrounded by dining tables and sunbeds. So although it's a great spot it isn't very private and can be somewhat noisy in the evenings / mornings.
- Emily (9/5): Simple but luxurious stay by the sea - Beautiful property right on the sea. The room is basic but comfortable. The cafe restaurant is good too, and the staff are friendly. It’s only a short walk to the beaches. The water flow of the shower was very little, which I can understand being a clay hut.
- Randini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional - The sea view was absolutely stunning. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The food was really good. We especially loved the French Toast.
- Pien83 (5/5): Passable - Beautiful location, right next to the sea with a beautiful view on the rocks. The rooms look very cute in the green scenery. Well maintained looking hotel!
The food in the restaurant is very good! This place has no beach as I thought it would have. It's quite far from other restaurants and bars. The rooms are very small. There is not enough space to comfortably put our stuff in the room and walk around the bed at the same time. There is no extra socket to charge phones or other devices. When you take a shower in the bathroom, everything, including the toilet paper, gets wet.
In the restaurant/bar, we waited almost an hour to be attended to.
Our neighbours took our sunbeds, we asked the staff to point this out to them, but they didn't. We asked ourselves, but they wouldn't give them back, leaving us without our own sunbeds.
There were dogs fighting/barking throughout a large part of the night.
For this amount of money I expected a lot more than we got with this experience...
I would recommend to pick some other place if you're going to spend this much.
- Elly (7/5): the location and outdoor space is the appeal - - location is perfect between hiri beach and pehembiya (which we actually preferred, less busy and broader, calmer)
- room was small but fine for what we needed
- comfy bed
- friendly staff and very tasty breakfast served in beautiful grounds with amazing views
- we liked the idea of staying in traditional clay huts and the electricity and showers and everything worked fine, but… - there were so so many ants and other bugs in the room that I didn’t want to unpack suitcase fortunately the bed had a mosquito net which warded most off from there but some still got in the rips
- the important things were clean (towels and bed sheets) but other things like curtains and the top of the mosquito net could do with replacing or cleaning
- it was the most expensive place we stayed in Sri Lanka and not one of the best room-wise, you’re very much paying to be in a cool trendy area on the beach front vs for the quality of the room
- Geke (8/5): Very good -
- Michèle (10/5): Excellent stay, would recommend! - It has a stunning view, really nice staff and the room was super clean. Price is a bit high but I also booked it during high-season.
- Ruby (7/5): Good - good location, friendly welcoming staff the bathroom was a bit dark dingy & damp & the bedroom felt more cramped in real life
- Suren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paulina (1/5): Not worth it. - The restaurant is in a nice location and has a nice view. Staying at the Sea View Clay House feels like a gamble, and unfortunately, my four-night stay turned out to be my worst hospitality experience.
I had booked a sea-view room but was instead given Room 06. This room is situated in an extremely unfavorable location—right between the restaurant kitchen, staff house, reception, parking lot, and generator. The lack of soundproofing in the clay house exacerbated the situation, as it felt like being in the middle of a noisy city. The noise started as early as 7 a.m. with the generator and kitchen operations and continued until midnight when the staff finished up and left on motorcycles.
When I raised concerns and requested a room change or compensation for the disruption, I encountered inconsistent responses from various on-site managers and the reservation manager in Colombo. It became clear that no one was in charge when something went wrong. While I was promised a discount, free breakfast, and a move to a better room, none of these were delivered. Instead, I spent one night in a room with one bed, despite having booked a room with two.
The staff’s disorganized handling of the situation wasted at least four hours of my time, adding to the stress and discomfort. Overall, this was an unpleasant and disappointing experience.
Hiriketiya has so many lovely places to stay, and I deeply regret not choosing a different option.
- Katie (3/5): Disappointing stay, too expensive for what you get and service poor - View nice Not as advertised, rooms are dated and bathrooms cramped and dirty smell. Door to bathroom didn’t shut and main door hard to use. Not luxury property. One of our rooms had no electricity all night. We complained but no action taken and staff didn’t appear to care. For cost of property, very disappointed
- Inês (8/5): Sea view on spot and close to center of the village - Walking distance to the main beach and restaurants. Had a very good stay with a luxury view of the sea. We were three and the room was not spacious enough, but super ok just to sleep!
- Stine (10/5): Helpful staff and lovely view! - We loved the staff, beeing so friendly and helpful. When my friend got sic and needed medical attention, they helped us all the way taking our health seriously. We loved the view and the feeling that the place wasn’t a big uncharming place. There was also any monkeys around, giving it an authentic feeling! The breakfast was supergood, highly recommend this and the dinner! Beeing so close to the nature, the rooms quickly got a lot of ants. We had an ant attack when we checked in who was unpleasant. The staff was helpful and cleaned it. The rooms are also a bit small, not so easy to organize our stuff.
The staff also knocked on our door several times different days in the morning, witch is inconvenient as we like to sleep in. But I guess this could easily be resolved with us communicating this to the staff.
- Lauren (10/5): Breakfast was our favourite! Staff were very accommodating. Would definitely stay again - Excellent staff and customer service. Bedroom was clean. Great view to the beach and walking distance to the swimming beaches Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): We had a great stay at the Clay house for two nights. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and the service was fantastic. - Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, close to both beaches, great food
- Andrew (10/5): We had a great stay at the Clay house for two nights. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and the service was fantastic. - We had a great stay at the Clay house for two nights. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and the service was fantastic. The on site restraunt had a great menu with delicious food and drinks. The breakfasts were the best we had. We also had a massage while we were there and felt so good afterwards.
Big shoutout to Avi, Prageeth, and Dineth who were the main people looking after us! We will be back
Andrew and Sib - Australia N/A
- Salvador (10/5): Exceptional - It was an amazing stay I wouldn’t think of any other place to come back to in Hiriketiya.
Avishka was super helpful and polite since we arrived, giving us advice of where to go, booking a good transfer to Yala park and then Ella for a good price and even sorted out returning a tuk tuk that we rented from Welligama a couple of days before but that we couldn’t return ourselves.
Also the rest of the staff from the bar to the kitchen where very lovely, attentive and helpful.
Location, view and set up where superb.
Good value for money 👍💪🙌
- Philipp (9/5): Superb -
- Shanilka (9/5): Superb - The manager prageeth was very accommodating . Lovely place and excellent price point.
- Mendis (10/5): Great stay and we enjoy a lot that gorgeous propoerty - Nice gorgeous eco friendly premises managed by friendly guys. Food and cocktails were quite good and we enjoy the location very well. Sea view was some what blocked due to next cottage and trees. Any way clean and tidy friendly location with good vibe. Beach was rough due to cyclone
No hesitation to recommend for others. We will visit again Cleanliness and facilities of the rooms and beach, and parking place
- Lucinda (9/5): perfect tropical stay - the staff just couldn't be more helpful. it was so incredibly friendly. we loved looking out at the ocean and we could see it from our bed. it really is the perfect setting. we stayed in a quad room with the kids and loved it. classic cute beach huts with all the mod cons nothing.
- Sheran (5/5): Overall my stay was okay but not great. - Close to the beach, friendly staff so that part was really good. The "clay houses" were quiet shabby with very little amenities and very small. Cleanliness was also not the best.
- Ravindra (10/5): A great first trip to Hiriketiya Beach with friends; lovely stay, great food, superb beach! - My friends and I like many things about our stay:
- The proprietor Uditha and his team were very friendly and accommodating
- The location was a short walk away from the Hiriketiya beach which was ideal
- We had a lovely view from the Room as well as from the restaurant
- The rooms were lovely with comfy beds
- The breakfast was delicious The bathroom door could be full sized instead of saloon type in rooms accommodating more people :)
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything from the service to the room and the food. Staff are super friendly and the rooms are very unique, but not much space. Toiletries provided are soap, toothpaste and toothbrush. It's a great experience staying at Clayhouse and we were very sad that they were booked up and we could not extend our stay. Breakfast was included, which was not clear from the booking info. And it was the best breakfast of our trip so far. They are very obliging when it comes to children, making plates of French fries and off menu items for breakfast. You cannot swim directly in front of the rooms, but it's a short walk into town to the swim beach
- Lia (8/5): Very good - Tha most amazing view in Hiriketiya
- Rosien (3/5): Would not recommend - Location was good A/c didnt work, no hot wated, door couldnt close properly so ants in the room
- Nick (6/5): it's decent - the gardens are lovely, the clay huts are pretty cool and the staff are nice. the bathroom has a cowboy saloon style door. this room ain't private enough for the two of us...
- Sasiri (7/5): Good -
- Francesco (9/5): Little paradise facing the sea - Incredible location facing the sea, just a few minutes from the beach of Hiriketiya. Staff is very friendly and available to support. The breakfast/dinner a must, food is very tasty!
- Robert (9/5): Stunning view, friendly staff and great accommodation! - The cabana’s are very nice and the sea view is stunning 😍. De staff is very helpful and vriendly and we had the most delicious breakfast!
- Morgaillard (9/5): Superb - We had such a lovely time at Sea View Clay House! I had been to Hiriketiya before and loved coming back and staying here. It's the ultimate relaxation place! We had booked the room right in front of the ocean, it was amazing. The view is just great! The room was quite spacious, confortable, and we loved having our own terrace! If you plan to walk around Hiriketiya, good luck! The walk is not that long but there's a huge hill to go up to the hotel. But it's definitely worth it!
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay at Clay House. The rooms are beautiful, the views are amazing and the location is perfect as its a few minutes walk to hiriketya and dickwella beaches. The Sri Lankan breakfast is delicious (one of the best curry, dal and roti I've had all trip).
What really topped off our stay was the staff, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left Charlie and the team were fantastic!
Thank you Clay House Team!
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Great ocean views, safe neighborhood No wifi and bad phone signal but they did their best to accommodate our other needs.
- Rosie (10/5): Such a lovely place to stay, sleeping with the sound of the waves. - Location was breathtaking! Nothing
- Caro (3/5): Poor - The view Although the outside area is really nice, the inside of the clay houses is up to some restoring because it's really outdated.
The fridge was not plugged in, probably for a while and smelled horrible so we couldn't use it. The paint is chipping off the walls and there was also little to no shelves or hooks to put or hang your stuff so we had to put all of our stuff on the ground, including in the bathroom.
There was one bar to hang a towel, but it fell to the floor after barely touching it. There was also only one outlet to charge a phone.
After 2 days we put the sign up to clean the room and that also didn't happen. When we wanted a small snack around 7pm, there was no one to be found. When we wanted to check out in the morning there was also no one to be found.
They said it's because of low season, but please if you don't want any guests just close down.
Weird experience and way to expensive
- Sian (8/5): Really good - Property was great, unreal location right in between hiriketeya and Dickwella. Loved our stay! Don’t book a taxi through the hotel, they’ll massively overcharge you. Book direct with the taxi or via pickme
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maxine (7/5): Lovely - On the seafront, close to two beautiful beaches and the best restaurant (smoke & bitters), lovely staff Air con was broken in our room, thankfully we were moved to a different room after complaining. Rocky sea cannot be swam in safely
- Liezl (7/5): Good - Beautifull place to stay right by the ocean with a private seating area. Swimming beach is walking distance. There was a horrible smell coming from the shower drain. We asked management to take a look but they could not come up with a solution (not so nice for a 3 night stay). The room is located right underneath the restaurants rooftop seating area which makes it was very noisy (especially when chairs are pulled out). The accommodation was also very pricy compared to other places in Sri Lanka.
- Erica (8/5): Very good - The place was right at top of cliffs. But in walking distance to 2 different beaches. People were friendly. Breakfast was a big disappointment.
Room, although a bungalow, was quite small. Only a few shelves to put things on.
- Wijegunawardene (9/5): Superb -
- Kale (9/5): Superb -
- Aoife (9/5): Great accomodation in beautiful location - - Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea. Room was clean with a small outdoor seating area. Good location between Hiriketiya Beach (good for surfing) and Dickwella beach (much quieter)- less than 10 minute walk to either. Not all rooms have a direct sea view and you can’t swim from directly outside the accommodation due to the rocks and waves but we were aware of this before. Excellent breakfast with several options and helpful and attentive staff. We really enjoyed our stay here
- Marissa (8/5): A lovely place to stay in a special location. - The location was great with two really beautiful beaches either side. Walking into town for anything you need, surfing, food, yoga and more. Smoke and Bitters was down the road and we enjoyed some evening cocktails and food there one evening. We loved Dikwella beach for a quiet swim and cute shade huts, and Hiriketiya Beach for a surf and fun vibes. The view from our room was great, beds were comfortable and Charlie in particular was so lovely during our stay. They also happily organised a safari and drivers to and from our stay.
- Jenni (9/5): Close to the ocean. Lovely gardens and outlook. - We booked the last room here for two nights and weren’t disappointed by the view and family room. It’s the closest to the ocean. So amazing to hear the waves at night and in the morning see peacocks jumping along the rocks. For us it was all about the view. Lovely gardens. Staff were helpful too. Close to Smoke and Bitters. I wasn’t that taken by the Sri Lankan map sculpture but others might like it.
Food could be better. A little overpriced.
- Alizanne (9/5): Idyllic scenic spot in perfect position to explore both Hiriketiya and Dikwella. - The position overlooking the rocks and ocean is magical and the lush well maintained garden and seating / lounging areas are great too. Staff are very friendly …just a little more anticipation of some things would be welcome but it is a very relaxing holiday environment. The breakfast was tasty but food arrived at different times and was almost cold.
- Katie (9/5): Beautiful property - The views were amazing and the property was beautiful. The room was nice and clean. It was a bit small as there was nowhere to place luggage on but that wasn’t a big deal at all. The terrace was lovely and the food was great. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were so kind. Recommend staying here.
- Stuart (9/5): Great accommodation in a brilliant location. - Staying in one of the clay houses was a welcome change from the usual hotel room.
Sea view from our terrace was beautiful.
Bed was very comfortable.
Private bathroom with rain fall shower.
Breakfast was excellent.
Location was great - in the middle between the two beaches. Not much - the only small thing missing was having somewhere to sit inside the property (other than the bed, which had a mosquito net around it).
- Keerthana (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect, breathtaking view Toilet door isn't completely closed but open top and bottom.
- Joe (10/5): Hidden find - Amazing sea views in quiet enclave with wonderfully designed gardens. Located between the two beaches with clean rooms.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb - The location is great. It was quiet, peaceful and directly at the sea.
As there is no beach, only rocks and a strong current/waves, swimming in front of the hut is not an option.
But it is in between two big beaches, Pehembiya beach (5 min walk) and Hiriketiya beach (10 min walk).
The room was clean and the bed was comfy.
The breakfast was not very special. It took long and they could not adjust to my diet restrictions (gluten free). We cannot recommend the breakfast.
Overall it’s a beautiful and quiet place, maybe a little overpriced.
- Jhap (9/5): Superb - Very clean, good wifi, staff are super friendly. Property is beautiful and well maintained with AC.
- Karolina (9/5): Beautiful location - I love the location and the concept of clay houses.
The welcome cold towel and fresh juice was amazing. The cleaning was not the best and plug accessibility. I have request two times some information from reception and he never get came back to me.
- Daria (7/5): Good - Location is lovely. It's definitely overpriced.
- Aldis (10/5): Exceptional - In two weeks of sri lanka this was hands down the best place i stayed at. I stayed at the newer built house which is a bit more expensive and possibly a bit more comfortable then the clay houses but has the best location right in front of the sea with a very quiet and peacefull atmosphere. The closest beach is around 5minutes away. The food and cocktails served at the restourant was really good but, ofcourse, it's much cheaper to eat outside of the place. People working there are really friendly and always willing to help with anything. Hope i can return here some day.
- Natasha (7/5): Good - The ocean view and breeze were lovely. The staff at breakfast and dinner did a great job. Nice location, close to both Dickwella and Hiriketiya. The room was very small. The bar/restaurant is close to the huts and was open very late, which creates noise for guests. We chose this accommodation to be in a quiet setting away from the party scene, and therefore, this was frustrating for us.
- David (9/5): Superb -
