Guest Reviews
- Dale (8/5): - Everything other than shower having no pressure at all was good but feel a little let down by shower as stayed before and never had problems. Maybe just in this room not so good?
- Douglas (10/5): - It’s clean and the staffs were very nice. Great service
- stephen (8/5): - it was warm , clean bedding , very basic . , didnt use shower or bath as no blinds over large window , i would rate it 5/10
- Andrea (10/5): - Fantastic beach within 2 minutes walk.
- Martyn (8/5): - Nice big triple room at a good price, the helpful lady on arrival let me check in early which was very much appreciated, the room itself was clean/tidy and very comfortable, it even had a fan to cool me down if I got hot, the shower worked ok but slightly under the pressure I prefer for a shower but it does the job, I will say the drainage of the shower needs looking at I was standing in a puddle by the time I finished my shower, the room view wasn't great but that wasn't a problem as I wasn't looking for that, the hotel lift appears to be out of use with signs reminding you not to use which can be a problem if your carrying heavy bags and luggage up the narrow stairways, the overall decor of the hotel is in need of some updating but the room I had was more then suitable, I would stay here again when I visit Eastbourne should they have the right price and availability.
- Sandeep (6/5): - Good hotel for overnight stay for solo business traveller.
The WiFi was reliable. Bathroom clean.
- Dalma Virag (8/5): - I stayed couple of nights with my friend. The hotel is okay for the stay we needed it for. We left in the morning and returned back late night, so we didn’t spend much time in the hotel. The seaside is literally 2minutes from the hotel, which is great. The station is approximately 10min walk and there are shops and restaurants close by. The staff is polite and always helpful. Thank you ☺️
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - Was an ok stay, comfortable sleep, room was in ok condition for my short stay, bon empited most days.
- Ruby (8/5): Value for money stay - A pleasurable stay. The room was clean and well presented.
The queen bed was very low and quite sunken in as I nearly fell off the bed in my sleep. New mattress’s to be placed and full 5 stars would be given.
- Atanaska (2/5): - Unfortunately I had very bad stay in this hotel. First, my booking was for 3 adults. We received 1 single bed and 1 bed and half where slept 6 night 2 big person. Terrible! After I ask for towel.Had only 3 bath towels. After agein ask for coffee, tea, sugar - boxes was empty in room. No one come to clean our room 6 days! Room become dirty and dusty. I have allergic asthma and this dust make me big issue. I was emergency in hospital. I spoke with manager about this and I had request to refund part of my money. He told me that will speak with team and will talk with me. Until now no one contact me. By Expedia today I understand that hotel don't want to refund some money for service who no one did.
Never I had bad experience like in this hotel.
Beds was uncomfortable and we don't rest. So Sea Shell hotel completely destroyed our holiday!
- Joanne (10/5): - Love the staff xx
- Francis (6/5): Second stay at Sea Shell - Sea shell is very sensible priced
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is in need of updating but it was ok for what we needed. the only real big thing was that the lift was not working and we were in the 3rd floor with a toddler. The staff were very friendly when there
- perry (6/5): Could be better - Hotel room was nice size but a bit undated couldn’t of done with a clean here and there bathroom shower try was painted and bits coming of shower was very dirty around it all could not flush toilet properly has handle hits the wall it was ok for a one night stay room did not look like in photos when we booked
- Joanne (4/5): - When i arrived i was shown to an unacceptable room with a blind stuck into the open window .the sink looked not particularly clean & the room smelt unpleasant.
However ,to be fair to the staff ,when i complained i was given a much better ,clean room with a functioning window and curtains.
I was travelling to visit my brother who us in hospital. I am just disappointed that i was not initially considered Deserving of a Decent room .
- SIMON (6/5): - The hotel is old and very basic. The shower is very weak which takes time for bath. Toilet flushing is weak and the water replenish is very very slow that it may take 2-3 times to clear up the waste.
The credit is they provide tooth brush, slippers, shampoo and shower gel that a bit surprise. Location is good, just few minutes to the bus station for journey to Seaford or Brighton. Staff are nice and friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - Absolutely discussed after being treated so badly at one of the worst places iv stayed.
No tv remote, and asked twice to be ignored
Dirty sheet on bed. Someones old tissues left used.
We work nights so as we was talking got a knock on the door and told to be quiet.
2 mins later another knock and asked to leave. It was 3am. No arguments i was out of there. Never sgain.
- Cas (8/5): - Next time the lift works.
- James (2/5): Do not waste your time and money - Extremely dirty, tired, stunk of cigarettes and staff not up to running a hotel. Mattress had collapsed by just pressing on it and was stained. Don’t let the professional stock photos fool you.
- Samit (8/5): - Stayed for 2 nights and the room was good but the size of the double bed was a little smaller than expected.
Overall worth the price 👍
- Daniel (10/5): - Great location 5-10 mins walk to most parts of town for shops restaurants and bars. Excellent service on arrival. Room surprisingly big for what it costs to stay here.
- Lawrence (8/5): - Excellent for the price paid. It must be a nightmare keeping these old buildings going
- Iain (2/5): Dangerous Behaviour - The staff had been clearing the adjacent room and left everything in the corridor blocking access to my room. This is a tripping hazard and in the event of a fire a serious risk to safety.
- Barry (10/5): Tennis weekend - in general very good, arrived very early but that was not a problem as my room was ready. was given key and car park permit, that was very helpful. pity lift was brocken as i was 2 floors up. very space room for a single. will came again
- Francis (8/5): Sea shell stay - I was Treated well.
A Convenient place just off the seafront.
No complaints.
- Wojciech (10/5): - 👌
- Maurice (6/5): - A good stay. Shame about the fire alarm going off, on Sunday morning at 9.00 . Not good

I booked a hotel room at OYO Palm Court Hotel in Eastbourne.
On arrival at OYO Palm Court at approximately 19:30 hours. There were no staff on site and I was told by a resident that the premises has been taken over by the council and is now an immigration hostel. I tried over 10 times to get through to the hotel who passed me from one person to another wasting half an hour. At 20:00 hours I began desperately trying to contact Expedia, both through the online chat and help number. I was in such panic about not having anywhere to stay but hoped that Expedia may be able to help given the reputation of the company.
Throughout my contact with Expedia, I was hung up on without a call back despite the advisor taking my contact number in case of such event, I was on hold for a total of two hours to two separate departments and I was told by relocation services they would need to wait for the original hotel provider to sort out alternative accommodation.
After begging to have another hotel provided the advisor told me I would need to pay for the new hotel myself and be reimbursed at a later date. This was not possible due to my finances on the night. The advisor eventually agreed to assist me with booking another hotel only after she took the original payment for OYO hotel no longer in existence, by this point is was 23:10 hours.
We missed dinner, walked around in the rain and still have not heard back from Expedia.
- Aysha (2/5): Plop plop - It got cancelled 2 hours before check in
- Paul (8/5): Squeaky but good ... - Good value hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable, big big bed and good shower. The only thing was the ceiling and the room above. It was very squeaky when it was walked upon though to be fair, some of the the other parts of the building are very squeaky too! Despite this minor flaw, I would happily return as the location, close to the seafront and town centre is excellent.
- Richard (8/5): - Good position. Continental breakfast was fine . Room adequate . Shame about the bathroom door scraping on the floor .
- Karl (8/5): - booked two rooms the same
One was better than the other
Radiator didn’t work
But clean overall for the price
- Verified traveler (10/5): antonio work stay - Great hotel with good wifi
excellent comfort level
and will return
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the location and overall value for money.
- Douglas (8/5): Cheap n clean - For the price it was nice. It was clean. Its not luxury but everything was clean apart from one staicase but then i aint sleeping on the staircase.
Breakfast inc (continental ) but all really fresh and croissant really quality all for around 30quid
- Alison (4/5): - I. Dont. Think. I. Stay. There
- david (10/5): - All good very good for the show we want to
- Janine (10/5): Highly recommended - Worried when found our hotel had been sold and temporarily closed for refurbishment but need not have worried. Hotel being redecorated but our room was freshly painted with very comfortable beds and pillows, plenty of storage and comfortable armchairs. Complimentary continental breakfast. Parking right outside for £1 a day and very central to beach, shops etc. Will definitely return.
- Jenny (10/5): Central accommodation in Eastbourne - Lovely small hotel near seafront & Bandstand which has amazing weekend tribute bands at reasonable prices, also only 10-20 minutes walk to town centre and theatres
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was a bit hot, pillows not plump enough, bed small.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was not comfortable as the walls are too thin. I could hear every single word of the guest next room and every step of the guest on the top floor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Brighton .. but not so BRIGHT ..... ROYAL ALBION - Terrible room
Dirty walls carpet and filthy carpet leading upstairs into room 43 . Why don’t you get decent cleaners in and take care of what would be such a lovely old building . Take care of your property such a shame .
- Peter (8/5): Did what it said on can - Very comfortable and satisfactory stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): Gone downhill - shame! - The hotel needs a touch of modernising. Breakfast was very basic. They now make you pay extra for car parking unlike previous years
- sandra (8/5): Weekend at palm court - A pleasant weekend at the palm court, staff covered many jobs and were quite pleasant and helpful.
- John (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable, ideally situated for beach and entertainment.
- David (10/5): Nice Hotel Bowler friendly - Excellent rooms and meals, staff friendly and very helpful. Nr seafront not too noisy.
- M (4/5): - Jaded hotel especially in hall and lift areas. Room small and very tiny bathroom. Room view ugly and looked over back. Rusty stairs and backs of other properties. Beds comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very friendly staff - Very friendly hotel can't believe it's a 2 star. Was impressed with the way the staff and owner looked after some residents which were blind will be going back
- Rachel (4/5): Not a good hotel - This hotel is very run down. Rooms still have brown sheets and blankets! Curtains had brown stains on them. Paid £100 for a room - not good value for money.
