• Michele (8/5): Great location and comfortable - Reasonably priced hotel located adjacent to the Gion district in Kyoto. I booked a small double which is 12sq metre so be aware of the size of the room and how limiting this is with space for bags etc. Other than that well priced and comfortable. Free breakfast was a mixture of hot and cold western food and much appreciated.

• Verified traveler (4/5): 工夫は面白いが清掃がイマイチ - ベッドなしの小上がり風のお部屋で、コンパクトな中に必要なものは全て詰まっており、工夫は面白く感じました。 ただ、清掃は「見えるところだけ」。布団の中やシーツの端から、髪の毛が何本も出てきました。ベッドなら「ベッドの下」は見なかったことにもできますが、厚みはあっても布団なので 気になります。 部屋の匂いも気になりました。 朝食のパンは内容の割に美味しかったです。 お安いので仕事の時に利用できる候補に入れられるかと期待していましたが、2回目はないかな…

• Mei-Lan (10/5): - This hotel is in a very convenient location. It is within walking distance to Kiyomizu-dera and some other sites. The train station is also within three minutes walking distance, making it easy to get to other tourist attractions. The hotel is good value. You get complimentary breakfast and drinks. There is a good selection of drinks and food. There is free laundry available. You will only need to pay a small amount for some detergent. Staff will go out of their way to help you. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

• Barbara (10/5): Highly recommend! - Highly recommend this hotel! A generous breakfast is included. Room is updated and very clean. Safe area. Walkable along the river to the big market. Subway and bus right outside if you don't like walking. This was one of our favorite hotels in Japan, and was the lowest price by far. The room is small but well set up, so quite comfortable.

• aparna (10/5): - Hotel was very comfortable. Rooms have enough closet space to put your travel luggage away. Breakfast was good. Not a lot of options but satisfying enough. Walking distance to Metro, temples, Gijo food district and shopping. Will definitely stay here again.
• Alexandr (10/5): - Hotel is located right next to a train station. It is a station away from Gion. Fushimi Inari is several stops away. Kiyomizu-dera is 15 min of walking. The stuff is very nice and polite. My room was a bit weird mixture of traditional japanese and modern styles, but it was nice, clean and comfortable. Excellent value for what I've paid!

• Rebecca (10/5): - Friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are a bit small but that’s to be expected in a Japanese style hotel. The beds are futons on the floor, so be prepared for that as the pictures don’t make that completely obvious. Overall a great experience.
• discobro (2/5): Terrible place, bad location and extremely unhelpful staff. - Sorry to post this but, I printed the hotels contact details out directly from their website. The taxi driver that I showed it to, rang that number given and dropped us off... at the wrong hotel !! I had to walk my 85 year old mom a further 20 mins to arrive at the correct location, Urbain Hotel Kyoto. I politely told the staff what had happened upon arrival and the staff thought it was funny. Maybe it was, but I still don`t seem to think so. I asked the staff the next morning for any travel tips to get to Nijo Jo, he said "get a taxi". "Friendly, helpful staff" ?? I don`t think so. The restaurant tables were filthy and unkept, the hot food was always switched off and cold during breakfast hours at the buffet, the hotels one and only elevator automatically stops at the second floor, each and every time because reception is located there, every time you you use it... and the hotel is not on the main bus route allowing really difficult access to Kyoto`s many temples... Do NOT waste your time here !
• Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a cute and convenient hotel - however the space is very, very small! The bed takes up 80% of the room. Thankfully this was not too bad of an issue due to us having two bags, but I would recommend this place mostly to solo travelers or couples who pack light and don’t mind compact spaces and no room view. The breakfast buffet was nice, so was the staff. The room itself included a refrigerator, toiletries including toothbrushes, a brush, hairdryer, etc. It had everything we needed.

Tasty breakfast and really friendly staff. Rooms are quite small and mattress is on the floor but very clean and sufficient for sleeping as days are so full in and around Kyoto.

• Seana (10/5): Awesome experience - Awesome staff. They helped us a lot to try to places where we wanted to go. They also have a great breakfast menu. Daily room clean was available. The place has Lawson, Family Mart, and 7-11 within walking distance less than 2 min, 30 sec walk to the closest KH line station and 10-20 min wall away from Kiyomizu-dera. I would totally stay here again next time coming to Kyoto!
• Verified traveler (10/5): 깨끗하고 친절한 비즈니스 호텔 - 2박동안 트윈룸을 예약했는데 생각보다 방이 넓었고 성인 남자 2명이 사용하는데 크게 좁지 않았음. 화장실이 다소 좁아 욕조가 조금 짧지만 바로 따뜻한 물이 나오고 깨끗하였음. 넉넉한 옷장과 캐리어 보관칸이 있고 기본적인 어메니티는 거의 있으며 침대 머리쪽에 콘센트와 전등 끄는 스위치가 있어 좋았음. 매트리스는 깨끗하고 푹신한데 사람에 따라 많이 푹신하다고 느낄 수 있음. 냉장고는 작았지만 잠깐 음식을 보관할 수 있었고 작은 소파가 있어 유용하게 사용하였음. 와이파이는 잘 터짐. 조식은 빵 2~3종류에 밥 국 및 반찬 몇 가지와 스크램블 에그 요거트 음료수이며 한 가지 반찬은 매일 바뀌어 나왔는데 개인적으로는 맛있게 먹었음. 호텔 주변에 편의점이 여러 개 있고 맛있는 라멘집이 있어 식사하기 좋았음. 청수사까지는 걸어서 15분 정도로 갈만한 편이나 호텔 자체가 버스 정류장과는 어느 정도 거리가 있음. 5분 정도 걸려 걸어갈 수 있는 버스 정류장에서 주요 관광지로 갈 수 있으므로 크게 불편하지는 않았음. 큰 도로가 앞에 있으나 주변이 조용한 편이고 깊은 골목으로만 안가면 대로 주변은 비교적 밝음. 게이한 선을 타고 오사카로 이동하기 편했음. 리셉션과 서비스가 항상 친절하였음. 교토를 다시 방문할 기회가 있다면 또 이용할 생각.

• kenji (10/5): 朝食がオススメ - すぐ近くの仕事の関係で宿泊しました。 部屋はダブルですがそれほど広くありません。ですがコンパクトにまとまっている感じです。畳みたいな感じのフロアとベッドもいいと思います。 エレベーターは入室用カードを使用するセキュリティーで安心です。 オススメは朝食セット。パンとコーヒーだけのホテルとは違って結構充実してます。パンもご飯もあり、驚いたのはご飯で出汁茶漬けができるように出汁や漬物などもある事。朝食は軽くしたいという方にも十分満足できると思います。 駅近くでコンビニも2軒ありますが、意外と食事や飲むところには苦労するかもです。

• Melanie (10/5): Really happy with this hotel - I really liked this hotel, good location - not far from Gion & Kiyomizu-dera & public transport. The room had a wardrobe & a space to store suitcases as well as a little nook in the entry for coats & the like. The bed was really comfy - just note that it's on the floor & this might be difficult for those with physical issues. The free breakfast was nice, not a huge range but what's available is good quality. You can sit and eat breakfast overlooking the street. Fantastic laundry facilities & an excellent elevator. The elevator was always quick & I really liked that! Staff were nice, I didn't interact with them too much, but they were all professional & good at what they do. I would stay here again, it's a really good hotel.

• Gek Fang Cindy (4/5): Terrible hotel staff attitude - Majority of the hotel staff could not speak English nor Mandarin. Hotel sign is facing 1 direction which makes it easily miss. On the day when I checked out, I decided to buy some food from local shops next the hotel. I brought the food to the hotel cafe but the receptionist told my mom that the cafe was closed for cleaning. I didn’t see anyone cleaning and the sign said closed from 20:00 to 24:00, so I went in to get a drink. The female receptionist came from behind, shouted at me and slammed the cafe door. All of us were shocked at her rude attitude and felt humiliated. My impression of the hotel staff n Japanese culture have been good until this incident happened.

• Verified traveler (8/5): 静かな室内で良し - コンビニや24h営業のスーパーが近くにあって、とても便利でした。 バス亭も近くにあるので、そこからあちこち行けたのでそこも良かったです。 京阪の駅が道を挟んで目の前なのも良かった所です。 何より新選組ゆかりの場所も徒歩圏内。ガイドさんにも恵まれて充実の時間を過ごせました。 一つ不満な点は、景色でしょうか。 建物の間に立っているので、泊まる階によっては景色が無いお部屋に。 食事はどれも美味しかったです。さすが京都って感じでした。
• TomTom (10/5): - -Good location with underground access (Kiyomizu-Gojō) nearby and taxis frequently passing by, bus stop outside, lots of good pottery shops, convenience shops such as family mart and Lawson and local restaurants (udon, takoyaki, ramen, bars etc) -Breakfast was satisfying and was of good quality. It is an all you can eat buffet catering a mostly Japanese style breakfast -Staff were always welcoming and saying displaying the usual pleasantries of good morning and were always available to help you as best as they could
• Hairet (10/5): Lovely staff and very clean - Had a great time staying here with my mum. Small rooms but with all the amenities you need. Somewhat hard pillows but comfy mattress. Good location if you don't mind walking a bit, 20-30 min to Gion and same to Kyomizudera temple. Staff was helpful (some better at English than others) and the cleaning immaculate. We would definitely come back again!
• clarissachou (6/5): Small room! - Our Japanese style double room was really small. There was hardly any room to walk, let alone open our luggage to get our things. It does not justify the price we paid. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. Breakfast was ok, with pastries, Japanese food and very good coffee. The hotel is well-located, close to a train station and sights.
• Cheng Li (4/5): Small room! - We had a Japanese double room, and it was really small. There was only a narrow walking space to reach the wardrobe, and no space to place an open bag. For the price that we paid, there are other better options. Won't recommend this place.
• jw (10/5): Nice hotel - A simple room but with mattresses on the floor, The location is convenient; very walkable to many of the sights.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great Location - This is a new hotel. I was surprised that the futon/bed was on the floor rather than elevated as was shown in pictures. Rooms are much smaller than we are used to in North America. The japanese style breakfast buffet is good and I enjoyed the welcome drink in the evening. Staff were helpful.
• HananB308 (6/5): Ok hotel, but not for me - I admit to total surprise that this hotel is given a 9.0 rating on one of the booking sites. I stayed 4 nights and did not see how it excelled that much. Some of the reception clerks' English is weak; there is no safe in the room, and I thought the breakfast not particularly good due to the very small selection available. I had thought to write that the room was relatively large until I discovered that I was in a double room. And what are the virtues of this hotel? First, it's location bordering Gion, and just next to public transportation. Second, it is relatively new so the aircon and TV are modern, and everything in the room works. Finally, there are some small changes in the daily breakfast menu. I did not enjoy having a bed on the floor, but that is perhaps a matter of culture. Finally, the hotel is relatively inexpensive. However, I will not return.
• richard (10/5): - Very good value for money mid range hotel. Clean, new. Mattresses on tatami floor, small rooms but enough space for luggage. Clean private bathroom. Breakfast buffet included was surprisingly sufficient Japanese-style for room rate. Located on main street (Gojo dori), easy to find, right next to kiyomisu-gojo subway station. Walk 10 min to Gion or Karamachi.
• futsanglung (6/5): A nightmare check in - When arriving at the hotel you will notice that the reception is down a corridor and then up one flight in the lift, great if you know this but when I arrived the sign by the lift was missing ( it did return later). Up to reception and they had great trouble finding my booking even with the confirmation in their hands, the hotel claims bi-lingual staff. maybe so but one of those languages was not English. After a worrying 15 minutes I got my room key, no explanation as to what had happened. The room smelled of stale smoke despite it being a no smoking room with clear signs, apart from that the room was OK. Breakfast was a let down and nowhere near as good as what I had in another hotel owned by the same chain.
• Andrew (6/5): dissapointing - The problems started straight away at this hotel, reception is down a corridor and then up one floor in the lift, when I arrived the sign explaining this was missing but it returned later. On getting to reception they seemed to have problems locating my booking, a worrying 20 minutes later I was checked in. On arriving the room had the smell of stale cigarettes despite it being a no smoking room complete with no smoking signs. The room itself was fine, small but that is the norm in Japan, everything was fairly new and in good condition. The breakfast was so-so, not as good as in a previous hotel owned by the same company. Local area was convenient for the Keihan Line station but not too much else in the close vicinity.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel and staff - Stayed for four days and couldn't be happier. Got a room upgrade upon check in, to my surprise. Hotel offers a refreshment drink service until 20:00 and free laundry. Hotel staff are kind and professional. Will be revisiting this place later on this month because they did such a good job.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, compact, value for money room - Good value for money, clean, compact room- like many in Japan. Futon on the floor (although not tatami). Tight space but fine for sleeping and showering. Not too far from main temple areas, walk is acceptable for the price. Right next to subway/train line so convenient for further travel in the city. Breakfast included.
• viaminlins (8/5): Urbain Kyoto Kiyomizu Gojo - Really friendly staff, they take their time to talk to the guests. The room was big enough, the bed was on the floor but still really comfortable. You have a bathroom with bathtub. The breakfast was good. They have washing machines and you can buy detergent for 50. I would stay here again.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Great value - Nice, clean hotel in a good location(a little bit hard to find, some taxis will have trouble). Service was great(little bit of a language barrier, but should be expected), breakfast is Japanese style with limited selection but good. Rooms are small, but bed was comfortable and a/c worked great!
