Guest Reviews
- Russell (10/5): - Friendly staff and clean room
- Victor (10/5): - Great location
- Roberta (10/5): - Beautiful setting at the top of the Bighorns, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend it!
- Kevin (8/5): - Owners are very friendly and normal which is hard to find
- Kim (8/5): - Staff and service was great in an amazing location. Restaurant and bar had really good food (fresh homemade salsa) and great beverage selections. Pool and hot tub shown in pictures is closed permanently; guest room cleanliness was pretty poor - fortunately the bed was clean. Location was great.
- William (6/5): Not good for the price - Bathroom kind of nasty. Peeling paint, mold, water stains. Carpets dirty and somehow bubbled up as you walked over it.
- Kristin (6/5): - The location is great however, very little hot water for a shower and low pressure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pretty good experience overall. Friendly staff and good service. Buildings are a little worn but function fine. Make sure to read check-in instructions before leaving home because you likely won’t have cell service here. Internet works well once you’ve checked in.
- Jean (10/5): - Heather and Steve, the host couple, was very welcoming. Had a great breakfast.❤️
- steve (2/5): Double check twice! - I reserved this room..,and then drove from s as Alabama and showed up on my reserved day and the place was closed…, had to stay somewhere else and the worst part is… they charged me for the room!!!! Not again
- Janet (4/5): - Beautiful location. Property has potential, but dirty and needs a lot of maintenance. For $170/night we expected more. King bed was two singles pushed together. Big gap in the center of the bed. Everything was dirty in the halls and building entrances. A bird nest over the front door -bird crap you had to walk through.
Bar/Grill was mediocre. Bar service was good, but slow because only one worker running hard. Breakfast was good. Service was poor. 9 of us came in four were served reasonably, two more in 45 minutes and the last in 1 hr 20 minutes. Saw others getting up and leaving.
Overall, it served it's purpose, but pretty spendy for what we got.
- Donald (10/5): - The rooms were comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The staff and owner was super nice and we were very accomodated. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return.
- Tim (6/5): - We were very disappointed in our stay. We have stayed at the Wlk View before and loved it. The place is just run down. There's no staff if you have a late check in. There's a note to get your key from a white drop box by the bar. Upon arrival, no key. Went into thw bar and waited 45 minutes for the bartender to get my key to me. (And it wasn't busy) Got to the room and the door looked like it had been kicked in. Door handle didn't turn all the way. No ice or vending machines or in room fridges or microwaves. Oyr shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. We didn't have enough towels after cleaning that up. Asked for towels 2 days in a row before finally catching a maid in the supply room and getting them from her. The pool and hot tub room were shut down. Not sure why but it breaks our hearts to see a place we have had so ma y great memories, become so poorly neglected.
That being said, when you find someone who works there they are really nice.
- Natalie (10/5): - Great service with friendly staff. Food was great and Taco the bartender was a great mixologist.
- THOMAS (4/5): - Was expecting a better quality place given the price. The WiFi didn't work and there was no cell service in the area. Dated room but somewhat clean. The parking area was a gravel mess from all the 4 wheelers. Would recommend staying.
- Jan (6/5): - If you are looking for a warm quiet place in the mountains this place is for you. The lodge is currently under new ownership and they are trying to make this place competitive. The pool and hot tub were not functioning.dinner was seeved in the bar. The room had no fridge and for a king bed we were given a handicap room making the showering experience awkward. The staff was friendly. They did have a really cool rustic lodge and atv rental. No cell service, but based on the location, that is to be expected. Absolutely the quietest stay we have had anywhere.
Once they finish the updates and remodel this will be an absolute must visit lodge.
- Ed (6/5): - Upon arrival there was no clerk, the office was closed, 4 PM, the key was in an envelope and no WIFI password, this area has no cell service. No ice machine. The overall appearance of the property and room is extremely poor. The paint was peeling off of the walls in the bathroom. No microwave or fridge. 2 nights with all fees was $360. Would not rush right back, sorry. NO pets were allowed and I can not figure out why, at least my pet could of kept me occupied and happy during this stay.
- Vicky (10/5): - Small staff currently and they are doing a fabulous job! Owners are super friendly and they are so accommodating! Resort is in need of some maintenance but they are working towards that. Resort is super clean!
- kathleen (6/5): - Liked location and wildlife, large room,
Disliked driveway potholes, broken/noisy air conditioner, stained sheets.
- Barbara (2/5): - Dirty, falling apart, no staff around, pool and hot tub unusable, vending machine empty or broken, disgusting excuse for a blanket on the bed and waaaay overpriced for all this "luxury". Stay away!
- Dana (4/5): - The hotel room had open wires where an overhead light had been. The bathroom had broken tiles and missing grout on n the floor tiles. There was no security at the hotel building. The rooms needed serious updating. Definitely not worth the price!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful setting! Nice staff. Cleanliness in the rooms was awful. Didn’t say anything as I know they, like everywhere are short staffed and hard to find workers.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Ok place but had no fridge or microwave, no gas, almost nothing for food! Would not stay there again. Also pool was not open, they used the COVID excuse
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This inn was a huge disappointment. The rooms were dirty and obviously hadn’t been kept up in years. Smoke alarm was just wires hanging out of the ceiling. No screens on windows. Entranceway stunk of smoke. No clear signage of where to check in (there were 2 separate buildings). Unexpected $10 key charge in cash only refundable when key returned. But lobby wasn’t open when we left. Inconsistent application of policy-some guests in same group not charged a key fee. Rooms were not ready upon arrival. Dining hours were limited and breakfast was only offered at a different lodge down the road. No refrigerators in rooms and no ice in hotel.
Food was good. Portions were large. We were offered a free drink due to rooms not being ready. They seemed very understaffed and not unprepared for the large number of wedding guests.
The scenery was amazing and we saw lots of wildlife. ATVs were available for rent.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Sheets stunk like they were used. Very dirty! No WiFi!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room lighting was very poor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was nice, food was good. A great place to stay if you are competing in big horn run.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The paint was peeling in the room, there was no table, soda machine didn't work, no ice machine, old box TV with fuzzy picture, very little inside to buy to drink or eat, restaurant wasn't open except for lunch so we had to go to the other resort to eat, had to order a sandwich from the bar for dinner because that was the only option. Would not stay again. They had an indoor pool and jacuzzi but they were off and dirty. We are sad that we spent our 20th anniversary there 😢.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place beautiful view.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome place had great time will dif do it again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great snowmobiling lodge. Has the best beds/rooms out of the 3 local lodges.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pros: Clean, large rooms. Very nice lodge, restaurant & bar, plenty of parking. Cons: 1 hour check in window, & limited help due to severe understaffing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - They had somehow canceled or reservations so we didn’t get the room we were supposed to get ended up with a lesser room
- Jerry (8/5): hunting stop - welcomed stop during hunting trip. nice shower and good food when needed most. thanks.
- Gail (8/5): Mountain Views - Beautiful location, comfortable beds and clean.
- Linda (8/5): - Clean rooms, needs to update some of the carpets and such...there was no ice machine and needed to go to the main lodge which was quite a long ways away. The vending machine for drinks didn't work either. I had to pay $3 for a full bag of ice even though there was no refrigerator in the room and we couldn't keep the ice for the entire night...the restaurant was closed but the bar had food to order...all of it was fried food and not that good...gorgeous area and views...comfy bed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Will stay elsewhere next time - The place is a bit run down which is understandable but the service was terrible. I can understand some delays due to COVID but the staff was not trained well and took FOREVER to check people out (I’m talking a line 6 deep and I’m #2 and have been standing for 30 min!) The bright spots were the young man who waited on us in the restaurant (however the food was terrible) and the bar tender who was pleasant and gave great service despite being slammed!
- Andrew (2/5): Never left a hotel review it before but… - Bathroom didn’t look like it had been cleaned. There was only one towel. We went to the front desk to get more but they had closed early. Went there again in the morning to ask for more. They said they bring more to our room, but never did. Our whole family ended up having to use the same towel. Also the shower didn’t work consistently. Sometimes the water pressure would slow down so much it was dribble then stop completely. The only way to get it back on was to turn the water on cold. We ended up checking out a day early.
- Karnet (8/5): Nice place. - This is a nice place. Rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. The restraint was only open certain days. The bartender was friendly and helpful. There is poor internet service and the outside could use some places for people to sit other than the parking lot. We did see lots of moose and elk near the hotel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Friendly staff, but room was terrible. Bad odor and ac didn't work best. No microwave or refrigerator
- Phil (6/5): - I I didn't like making a reservation with Expedie in January, then not having a room when I got there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Best part was the bartender
- Verified traveler (6/5): - had problems with a change in reservation
older but clean place to stay
did not have a fridge or microwave in room and no breakfast with stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the money. - Upon booking a stay at Elk View, the reviews and ratings seemed great. Once we arrived at Elk View, the overall customer service was terrible. The assistant manager was rude and not helpful. When we arrived to our room, it wasn’t the cleanest.. The cable box was missing, and the room was very unkept. We attempted to have dinner in the lounge / bar, but it was jam packed. The bartenders were so “busy” they wouldn’t even look at us to try to help us. We ended up eating at Bear Lodge where it was 10 times nicer and had great customer service. Just overall, a terrible experience. Not to mention, the price of the rooms for what you get is not worth it. I along with my family, will be staying at Bear Lodge just up the road from now on.
- Amber (10/5): - The service has much improved here!! The room had everything we needed!
- nms (10/5): - Good place to stay for a snowmobile trip. Rooms are large and clean. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast buffet is a good way to start the day.
There is no cellular service in the area. ElkView does have feee wifi, but the service gets overloaded easily, especially at night. Just expect to have minimal communication with the outside world while on the mountain.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There are not many places to stay in the bighorns. There are no 5 star hotels on the mountain. This one did not provide cleaning services as stated. The parking lot could use a good plowing. Everyone was getting stuck. My shower broke. I asked for the maintenance guy to fix and he just placed back on and never fixed it. Unfortunately there are not many places to stay on the bighorns, so will probably stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Needs an update. Old tube TV. Needs a refresher on paint carpet .
- TheTallMan (8/5): - Simple lodgings for hunt and ATV parties. But for us travellers it was a bit spartan, though we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and convenient overnight stop. Food and beverage service in bar area was better than we expected.
We’d stop there again if our travels took us near that route.
Did have a SCARE when the fire alarms went off at 3am forcing all guests to congregated outside or in their vehicles (41f outside) for 30+mins till a False Alarm was determined😱
- Troy (8/5): Good clean friendly place - Everything was great except the tub handle to turn off and on water was stripped out and the hottub wasn't full of water.
- MooseLover (6/5): - This is a wonderful place sitting in an extraordinary location. They are scrambling as hard as they can to make sure you have what you want. The part that made this less than an optimum review is that this terrific place is sorely in need of a handyman to fix the weathering edges of things. Otherwise, we had a great stay and really enjoyed the tiny staff. You won’t go wrong to stay at Elk View. I’ll be back.
- Travis (8/5): - Only complaint i had is the resteraunt only has burgers and sandwiches. Room was clean and the beds comfy. They also give a sizable military discount that i was unaware of. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly people and nice quiet location. WiFi is minimal at best but not a huge deal
- luke (10/5): - I will suggest this place to every one. customer service was great. rooms were clean and comfy and there atv rental was a blast out there in the mud.
- Jennifer (8/5): Couples trip - Snowmobiling trip. It was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The heater in our room didn't work, they tried twice to fix it & eventually just moved us to a new room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great. From the beds all the way to the bar food, everything was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The restaurant was not open for breakfast on Sunday morning. The staff suggested we go to a near by lodge for breakfast or help our selves to cold waffles, no syrup or butter, no fruit, dry cereal with warm milk, or muffins on the tray that were not covered since they were put out. Glad the room was clean and warm. With the room rate at $110, the hotel well over half full, any one would expect the restaurant would be open for breakfast and lunch. We will find a different place to stay.
- Janae (6/5): Snowmobile vacation - All the hotels in the area are run down. This one was not as bad as the others. The room was clean and i had no issues. I just wished the rooms were connected to the restaurant. To get to the restaurant you have to walk in the cold. I didn’t like the breakfast. It was buffet style. The dinner menu could have been larger. I prefer rooms over the other lodges in the area, but the food could improve.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean rooms, good food, easy access, nicely priced
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were two of only four people staying at the inn. Apparently the off season. A little bit strange but everyone was very nice. Ate dinner in the bar and the food was good. Room was ok.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room is described as king bed while in fact it's 2 twin beds moved together - one slides toward the gap in between.
Also WiFi is pretty bad - even in the lobby.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel can be difficult to find if you are travelling from Lovell on the Alt 14 - when you arrive at Arrowhead Lodge you need to turn right and not towards Dayton. There are no sign posts
The day we arrived the restaurant was closed but we were able to get some bar food.
- MARY (10/5): comfortable wilderness - Quiet peaceful getaway. Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. If absolutely necessary did have access to internet and satellite phone, but was a great time to forget it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Reserved a room with King Bed, During check in desk claimed Expedia over booked rooms and ended up with two full size beds don't think they were queen size. The hotel definitely has staffing issues. No server in restaurant for breakfast (Sept 2), no breakfast, no available microwave or fridge in building. not a good stay. will not use Expedia again do to over booking.
- Mike (10/5): - Everyone very nice and helpfull We rented atvs and had a great time We ate at their sister lodge Bear Lodge and the food was very good
- Ron (4/5): - The staff was great. food was very good. The Inn was dated but good.
The problem was simple. Bed was ok but the quilt/comforter was horrible! Only had it and a sheet on the bed and no blankets in the room. Way too heavy and constantly slid off the bed. Wife and I fought it all night. Finely at 4 am I through it on the floor and had to take Tylenol because my hips, knees and feet were hurting from the weight and fighting it. I don't think we got 2 hours of sleep! I'm not comfortable with just a sheet. Not good or safe when your traveling. Seems you have had many complaints about this and refuse to offer a blanket on the bed.
We travel the area often and thought we found a very unique and adequate place to stay. I'm sure I wont be back as the purpose of renting a room is for a good nites rest.
And yes we will share our experience with friends, family and anyone that asks. Can not recommend your Inn.
I hope you change your attitude and policy and think of your guests comfort. It is too bad.
- Julio (10/5): - The property have a nice view and people are very friendly
I when out late that for a short drive and I saw moose 😀
- Jim (8/5): - Lighting was inadequate for reading in bed. More bedside tables would be nice. Otherwise a comfortable room.
- AW (8/5): - Beautiful location. could use an ice machine in the hotel. good restaurant.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was not happy with hotel. Hotel was understaffed and didnt even open up their own restaurant so we had to go down the road 2 miles if we wanted to eat. The pool was WAY too cold to get in! The WIFI was only available in the bar/restaurant area and still didnt ever work there. There was no microwave or fridge in rooms so we couldnt bring in food to eat. The air conditioner in our room wouldnt stay running long enough to cool the room down. The one nice thing was we had coolers and they provided us with bags of ice
- Glenn (2/5): - The address for the motel is listed in Dayton, Wyoming. We had no phone service until we got to Dayton. Then we looked on a map app to find the motel. It showed that the motel was 26 miles behind us, which was after we had driven down a 10 miles 8% grade drive out of the mountains. We called the motel and were told that Dayton was just their P.O. box and they couldn't update it on Expedia. The staff informed us that we shouldn't have missed them because there were signs on thr road. Probably, but not on highway US-14 coming from the west. They never apologized for that problem which made us drive up that steep grade 2 extra times.
Also, since we got there more than an hour after we had planned to, their on-site restaurant was closed and we had to drive to another restaurant and hotel to eat. No refrigerator, microwave, or Wi-Fi service were available and inconvenient for us. The shower handle in our bathroom was broken and the hot tub that were hoping to use after a long day, was constantly full.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everyone was very friendly
- LH (8/5): - Nice quiet place to stay and sleep. Not a 5 star hotel, but this is a lodge in the wilderness. Visiting the Big Horn mountains will be an amazing outdoor experience. You will see Elk and Moose and beautiful scenery. Elk View Inn is clean and friendly and quiet. They have a bar and restaurant on the premise but we didn't use it. Our friends were at the campground down the street and so we cooked our meals camp side and packed sandwiches and hit the trails on Atv's. You won't have cell phone service or internet in your room but if that is what you want then I wouldn't visit the Big Horn Mountains at all. This is our 2nd time staying at the Elk View Inn.
- Brian (10/5): - Staff was outstanding, ended up staying an extra day to ride the UTV’s. Definitely the way to see the Bighorn mountains. Food was excellent as well. Can’t wait to return!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The website said there was wifi and there wasn't any in the room, we had to go over to another building to use the very slow connection. The staff wasn't very helpful with much, and our key was very difficult to use.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place
- Donna (8/5): Great place to stay when sledding in Bighorn Mount - Check in was average. No wi-fi or cell coverage. Restaurant on property was awesome! Snow melted in parking lot and wasn’t cleared so people were actually getting stuck in the parking lot. Bed comfortable. Hot tub and swimming pool were nice. Trip was end of March during the week.
- Mer (8/5): Great outdoor recreation area - Snowmobiler in the area for 4 days - excellent conditions - little windy but still nice. Will go back many more times.
