We had to leave early so we didn’t get to experience the breakfast, but we’d definitely come back. Everything was first rate. If you can’t do stairs you might have trouble, but that didn’t bother us.

Our room was ready early and Marissa, the Assistant Inn Keeper, called to let us know. Our special add-ons were ready when we arrived and everything was wonderful!! Excellent breakfast, beautiful room, Inn and friendly, nice staff! A wonderful place to stay for an Anniversary! Didn't notice anything.
• Gary (10/5): - Loved the late nineteenth century decor. We took full advantage of the sitting room to entertain guests. Great to walk around Fredericksburg and enjoy the unique shops, restaurants, and history. Overall a luxurious and interesting place to stay.
• gordon (10/5): - The Inn has been there since the mid to late 1700s, and served a decisive purpose during the Battle of Fredericksburg during the Civil War. The facility is very nicely decorated with mostly period-style furnishings, with very comfortable beds. The other accouterments, such as the wine and cheese charcouterie board and the early departure breakfast, made our very short stay a pleasant experience.

I’ve never stayed anywhere that treated you like a celebrity 😉 Breakfast was amazing and they provided a gluten free option that was delicious! Really good location. You can pretty much walk anywhere. We stayed in the Olivia room which was very spacious and had its own attached bathroom. The only thing I would suggest is to have black out curtains in the rooms facing the street.

Also, you could not ask for a better location. You could walk to lots of restaurants, shopping and sights to see. The complimentary bourbon in the room was a nice touch. Our only issue was the bed. Although it looked great and fit the style of the room, the bed was making a lot of noise. That did end up waking us up again and again. There were earplugs provided in the room. I thought it was for traffic noise, but now I am thinking it was for the bed.

• Sheik (10/5): - The Richard Johnston Inn is a historic inn with loads of charm. We stayed in the Virginian room, furnished with antiques and modern amenities, alike. The Inn is supposed to be haunted but we felt no ghostly presence! Rather, the warm welcome from the super friendly and efficient staff, plus the delicious, freshly cooked breakfast, made us feel completely at home. Highly recommended for a short getaway or as a base for exploring the surrounding area.
• Sophia (10/5): - Liz provided wonderful host services and we felt very taken care of. Check in was a breeze and parking was convenient. This is an excellent location in downtown Fredericksburg and you can walk to everything. We will definitely stay again!

• Matthias (7/5): Great setting for Fredericksburg but no luxury - Loved the historical setting and seasonal decoration. Absolutely lovely staff. Even though on the pics the rooms look like a boutique luxury hotel, in the end this is an Inn. Our room didn't have a bathroom so we had to walk across the hall. Also, all of the flowers in the hotel were plastic. The house is very old so expect creaking floorboards everywhere. I guess a small hotel like this isn't cheap to run hence the high prices.

Bed was high up off the floor and there are wooden step stools to aid in climbing into bed. Mattress was comfortable. Breakfast is delivered to your door in a picnic basket. We had a waffle with syrup, fruit and butter, yogurt with granola and orange juice. My wife thought it was cute that the OJ was served in a mason jar. Nice quiet location. The description on the website of hearing the pool fountain from the balcony is misleading as the balcony offers a view of the rooftop of the structure below and all you can hear is the A/C unit. Maybe you can hear the fountain in the winter time? But the coziness and comfort of the room makes up for the balcony.

• Steve (10/5): The service and quality of our room and breakfast was great as was the location - I will return! - The breakfast was tasty and of nice amount. Service was outstanding and the morning coffee and tea, along with the juice was great to wake up to.
• Vicky (10/5): Loved it! - We stayed here because of a family wedding....and we LOVED it! Such a wonderful to stay in downtown Fredericksburg. The hospitality, the room, the decor, the snacks and food...all.of it.

• Yvette (10/5): - The inn keeper and all other staff with whom we interacted were friendly, helpful, and efficient. They accommodated our slightly early arrival and late departure, which made our trip extra relaxing. The bed was super comfortable and all areas of the inn were clean, tidy, and welcoming. We enjoyed relaxing indoors, both in our room and in the public areas inside the inn, and out on the patio. The breakfasts and snacks were good. The location of the inn is excellent and easy walking distance to multiple shops and restaurants.
• Joann (10/5): - Beautiful surroundings, total eye candy. Beautiful interiors with ultramodern kitchens. Chandeliers in the bathrooms. Gorgeous reading nooks.
• FRANCIS E (6/5): $$ - They decided not to have anyone at the facility because of the Corona virus. For half the price the Courtyard a couple of blocks away maintains people on staff. The room was a bit cluttered and the arrangement of the furniture impractical. It also smelled. Showtime 2 was the only premium channel offered and there was no refrigerator in the room. Best features were the breakfast offerings and the comfortable ambiance of the lobby areas.
• Linda (10/5): What a wonderful place! - We had an amazing stay at the Richard Johnston Inn. The building is beautiful and is furnished exquisitely! The staff are so friendly and helpful. Betsy made the most delicious cookies and recommended an excellent Italian restaurant Orofino's. Beth made a delicious breakfast. The location is excellent. You can easily walk to many historical places, shops and restaurants.
• Kristin (10/5): - History of the property was amazing. Gorgeous renovation with beautiful antiques. Breakfast was top notch!
• John (10/5): Even the Ghosts are friendly! - We had unknowingly booked a room without an ensuite bath and were offered an upgrade to a king bed with bath on the top floor at no additional charge. Very nice of them. Breakfast was great and everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. They say that even the ghosts who reside there are friendly and although we didn't encounter any I can believe it.
