- eimantas (10/5): - very nice peaceful and also very kind owners really welcoming

- Jordan.Broome (10/5): Peaceful experience throughout š - Wow, what an amazing stay we had. Our visit was only brief but the cottage and surroundings gave me and my family everything we wished for a relaxing trip. Stephen was a fantastic host, ensuring we had all we needed. Would love to stay for longer in the future and especially utilise the pool!

- Siobhan (10/5): Absolutely wonderful cottages for families and friends alike - We booked all three cottages as part of a stay with friends (three separate families). The cottages were perfectly situated (just off the A1 and close to the city if you want it, but in a countryside setting). They were clean, well stocked with pans/cutlery etc and the hosts were an absolute delight. If you want a quieter, comfortable country village stay with a lovely big garden and access to country walks, but also access to a city if you want it, which is great for families and/or friends alike then we really recommend. It's a little gem.
- Nikita (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): A wonderful place, lovely relaxing place, highly recommend - A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location, the grounds are exceptionally beautiful. Love all the details the owners have done to keep it in line with the character. Absolutely nothing, couldnāt fault a thing!
- Chris (10/5): -
- Martin (6/5): -
- Gerry (10/5): The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into creating three delightful cottages. Perfect for our family get-together - Lovely. Clean, fresh, comfortable and well equipped in a lovely location. Nothing negative. Wish we had stayed longer.
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely place and great hosts - Great spot N/a

- Avril (10/5): A very nice cottage very clean and everything that we needed - Very quiet and very comfortable , it had everything that we needed Nothing
- Meimei (10/5): Lovely two night stay before Christmas. - The cottage was extremely cosy and comfortable, perfect for a couple of nights away.
- Lucy (10/5): Excellent. - Perfect location and a lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed. Stephen could not have been more helpful and we didnāt want to leave.
- Nadezda (9/5): Nice cottages in a cute country side village. - The property is really nice with many period features and a cosy feeling . Every cottage has all the tableware you need. Unfortunately no firewood was provided even though cottages have a fireplaces which can be used. There also was no salt , pepper , napkins etc, so you need to bring everything with you.
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely and cosy, felt right at home. Will stay again. - It was homely, cosy and quiet. Very nice surroundings too. The duvet covers were a bit 'loud'! :D Also it could do with a few more amenities in the kitchen, a coffee maker perhaps and some kitchen roll.
- Rogerio (10/5): Amazing- left with the desire for more⦠- Very cozy, well maintained chalet. The decoration is pretty. We had a baby with us, sometimes noise from floor when walking on top floor was a bit of concern, but not an issue eventually. The house was built 1802, maintained to its original - so charming and wood floor movements contributes to the whole amazing experience.
- Heather (10/5): - Lovely spacious cottage. We had 4 adults in our party and we were very comfortable.
The instructions were very good. Our hosts were away however everything was explained and we had no difficulty with access and amenities.
- LEE Wright (10/5): Nice place - Very clean warm and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen good WiFi and easy to find. Excellent instructions and communication from Stephen. I will definitely book again when I'm next in the area. Nothing
- Lesley (10/5): A charming cottage in a riverside location. - Beautiful, traditional property set In picturesque grounds, with a homely feel.
- Andy (10/5): - What an absolutely beautiful place! The location, with the river and lock nearby was serene and the ideal place to go to relax. Stephen and Philip were excellent hosts, they were very friendly and approachable. The cottage itself was cosy and everything you needed was included. I would definitely recommend River Nene Cottages to anyone and we will definitely be returning. Having to come home!
- Qirjazi (10/5): -
- Ben (10/5): -
- Susan (10/5): A lovely few days spent with friends in a quiet location. - ThƩ cottages were well equipped and comfortable. We were a group of friends who hired all three cottages. This was perfect for our purposes. Stephen was very friendly and helpful when we had any queries etc.
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent stay at River Nene Cottages (Barley Cottage) - Peaceful riverside location for walks to nearby villages yet just off A1 giving easy access to Stamford, Cambridge and Peterborough.
The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with lovely stylistic touches and interesting features.
Owners were on a rare break themselves but 'caretaker' Adrian did a fantastic job of answering any questions and kindly made time for a chat with us by the pool.
Can't forget to mention Myshka, their friendly husky who was never far away when wanting a tummy rub. The late September sunshine every day was the icing on the cake.
Overall a brilliant stay. No negatives to report.
- Jones (10/5): Amazing amazing amazing!!! - The owners were soso kind, it felt so welcoming and everyone was so nice. Really loved the cottage we stayed in their dog was soso cute!! I donāt have anything I didnāt like about it
- Gitte (9/5): - The cottage was very charming and nicely laid out with all you need in a home away from home. It was brilliant with access to the outside pool. The only negative was beds, which wasn't quite suitable for 6'4 bloke.
- Nimaya (9/5): - Beautiful location, quiet neighbourhood and a very cosy cottage. There are nice walks nearby and the garden is beautiful. We made good use of the outdoor pool! Self-catered - there are supermarkets within a short drive. The hosts were lovely and responsive. This can't be helped given it's an old building (hosts did inform us at arrival) but the floorboards upstairs were very noisy. We managed fine, potentially frustrating for light sleepers.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Hosts met us on arrival and were very welcoming and friendly, we loved the location on the riverside and the outdoor pool was amazing, the cottage was spotless and very cosy, can't wait to go back
- sheridan (10/5): Perfect break in a beautiful cottage in the perfect location - It was in a fabulous position with beautiful gardens leading right down to the river. Very quiet and secluded. The cottage was beautifully presented and an ideal size Nothing it was perfect for us
- Lorraine (10/5): Just what we needed - Such a peaceful place with plenty of greenery and wildlife around - got to see plenty of cows, sheep, signets and even some seals! The garden area is so dreamy with the lushest grass, a magnificent willow tree next to the tranquil water.
- Lilley (10/5): - Beautiful cottage. Great access to facilities. Stunning gardens. N/A
- Rachel (10/5): - Nothing to not like - great hosts (thank you), lovely cottages, great location. Best option in the area.
- Anna (10/5): Perfect stay for relaxing. - The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the nearby country side. The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented on arrival and the garden was a lovely space for relaxing and enjoying sunshine. Well done on creating a cottage as lovely and cosy as this and good luck in a future.
Definitely recommend!
- Allen (10/5): A little paradise outside of Peterborough with exceptional hosts. - Location was exceptional next to the river Nene. Hosts were friendly and helpful, cottages and gardens were well kept containing everything you needed for a self catering stay. No negatives come to mind.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Stephen and Philip are the perfect hosts at these idyllic cottages .
We stayed in Yew Tree cottage for 2 nights and left wanting more !
The cottages are set across the courtyard from the amazing pool where thereās many comfortable seat's and parasols on offer !
The cottage is very well equipped , clean neat and tidy and everything in good working order ,lots of hot water , great shower and luxurious furnishings.
The cottages are located on the River Nene which itself offers lots of entertainment. (Kayaks and canoes are available for hire further along the the river )
Stephen and Philip are more than happy to share their properties and amazing gardens with guests !
A trip into Stamford is an easy drive and a must from here , a great market town with lots of eateries and independent shops .
Such an enjoyable experience
- Bryony (10/5): Wonderful break with a friend - Lovely cottage and great location Nothing
- Sophy (9/5): Superb - Stunning location, very comfortable and hosts very welcoming
- Aimee (8/5): Stunning cottage and location - Immaculate and beautiful cottage (we stayed in Barley) with all home comforts. Access to a gorgeous swimming pool and gardens. The location in the hamlet of Water Newton is stunning and gorgeous walks through the countryside are abundant.
This isnāt a conventional self catering arrangement because the owners live on site and the cottages have a share with permanent residents. This means that you canāt invite friends or family over in daytime or evening without advance express permission. This makes it tricky when plans change or the weather doesnāt behave the way you had hoped. But fully understanding this and how seriously it is taken in advance is helpful.
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb - Lovely location by the river, lovely gardens & pool area. Comfy cottage with all you need. Easy, private parking. Very friendly & sociable hosts
- Richard (10/5): Superb stay in cosseting surroundings that smooth away the stresses of daily routine drudgery ;-) - Stopped a couple of nights at the Coach Cottage and wish we had been able to extend our stay. It has everything you need for a comfortable self catered break if you want, but is also within easy walking distance of a nearby village and the cafe/pubs there. Obviously with the A1 nearby you have access to everywhere if you want to drive.
The provisions within the cottage are excellent. fridge-freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, all cutlery, pots, pans, plates, dishes etc, a dishwasher, iron, Tv, DvD player, fast wi-fi and usb-a charging ports on every electrical socket in the cottage. The Information pack is something to behold, very detailed, beautiful photography and so much info.
The garden & swimming pool are available to all guests and you can take a coffee whilst sat in the sunshine admiring the vast lawn and river views (if you're weather lucky).
Since returning home I realise I have no photographs of the inside of this superb cottage as I spent so much time out and about photographing the location.
Stephen and Philip are brilliant hosts and will make you feel so welcome and happy to share this idyllic location with them. Getting onto the A1 through the roadworks (which were present during our stay), was a bit hair raising on day 1. On day 2 we could have cycled onto the A1 (NOT RECOMMENDED) there was so little traffic. I don't know if they are going to close the central reservation cross-over when the road works are completed, but if you're heading northbound from Water Newton, I would suggest going south for a couple of miles and crossing over the bridge before rejoining Northbound as the easier solution.
- Tim (8/5): Very good - Lovely welcome - gracious hosts - fascinating surrounds
- Danielle (9/5): beautiful setting, lovely old building that has been modernised. Stephen was really friendly and nice and made us feel v - Stunning property and surrounding buildings and area.
Shame we didnāt get to swim in the pool but it was a little chilly. N/A
- Watson (10/5): Excellent place for a "Get away from it all" break. - Stephen and Philip were very friendly and accommodating hosts. There was nothing I thought could be improved.
- Faye (10/5): Exceptional - Everything . Just super

- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect cottages, immaculately clean and very pretty location. Great hosts! - Perfect place to stay, immaculately clean with great facilities and very helpful and friendly hosts - nothing was too much trouble which was much appreciated! We enjoyed sitting round the pool and relaxing overlooking the beautiful grounds and river frontage. Hope to be back soon for more R & R.
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ella (10/5): Perfect stay! Stephen was so welcoming and the cottages were in excellent condition. Thank you! - The hosts were excellent. Very welcoming. Both properties were in excellent condition and the location was perfect for paddle boarding and seeing the sights.
- Paul (9/5): wonderful and enjoyable little cottages set in a beautiful location - The location and the cottages.we stayed in were wonderful and just what we needed.
The beds were comfortable and the living space and kitchen area was well serviced. So apart from providing your own supplies. The cottages had all we needed.
Good that taxi service was able to reach.
We did not stay long enough to really experience it, but the garden and pool area right by the river was beautiful and you could easily spend days enjoying the sun and family. The mugs need to be bigger š.
Unless I missed this in the instructions - it was not clear how to access the grounds of the property to begin with.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liliana (10/5): Great cottages, an idyllic garden, an amazing cathedral, lovely towns and walks near by! - The location was great, the cottages were really cosy and pretty. The garden was gorgeous, very well kept with a nice swimming pool. The view with the river was very picturesque! Facilities were really good, we had a great BBQ!
