- ANNETTE (6/5): A bit of a hassle, but OK. - Location for us was perfect. There was no on in the office when we arrived. There was a Ring doorbell that said was broken with a sign saying to call the number. No one answered the call, so I left a message with my number. I didn't get a call back, so I contacted Booking.com. While I was on the phone with Booking.com, we decided to try the "broken" Ring and received a response. We were able to get in our room finally, but it was a bit of a run-around. Room was dated, but clean.

- Gail (2/5): - First and foremost, there was no hot water in the shower. I stayed five nights and mentioned it to them four times and there was still no hot water the day I left. I requested a partial refund due to this fact. Who ever heard of a motel with no hot water for a shower? There were no eating utensils, but they did have two coffee cups and one drinking glass and four stoneware plates. There were three pots, but no frying pan. No word from the owner regarding a partial refund.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Not happy - The pictures do not reveal the actual condition of the rooms. There was mold everywhere, holes in the wall, duct tape on the bedroom window. The original tv broke so they put a second tv in front of it. The room smells of pot and there were cigarettes butts out front and out back. The AC was super noisy. The pool was ok but needed a bug cleaning. The room should have been half the price for the condition and what was offered. Don't be fooled by the photos and pet friendly advertisement. Englewood beach and surrounding area doesn't allow dogs. Its a 30 min drive to the closest dog beach.

The day I was checking in, I got a call saying they changed my room to 2 TWIN beds. Asked if I was going to get a discount? I was told No, same price! The room was in desperate need of a repair. There are no outlets in the bathroom to blowdry your hair. The refrigerator door was so dirty I didn’t like touching it. There’s a few dishes, but no dish soap. A coffee maker but no coffee or filters. The shower curtain was all ripped up. The whole place looked unkept. It was a place to sleep at best.

The couch cover looked filthy. Stayed there in the past and it was always clean. Looks like it has changed hands since then.I think there are new owners.
- Gary (2/5): - The property texted at 5:30pm on Sunday, the night before 2:00 pm check in on Monday to tell us we had no room!! This is a small beach community and there were no other options. Our trip was ruined.
- Shelby (2/5): Stay at your own risk - The pictures must be outdated because while they show a very simple motel, the reality of it is, I’m not sure this should be a functional establishment until some work is done. Amenities included a full sized fridge and stove which was nice. We were given three tiny hand soaps and a half used travel bottle of shampoo. The floors turned your socks black so we wore our shoes the full stay. I believe there was black mold throughout the shower in the large cracks that were poorly recaulked. There’s no vents in the bathroom so the expectation is that you open the tiny window, unfortunately there’s no screen and you’re within view if anyone is out back. The blinds didn’t fully cover the windows so picture frames were set in them to try and provide privacy. There was no check in or out instructions. A text was sent to me on the day of check in that said my key was sitting in the unlocked room. I have no idea what check out instructions were so I left the keys where they were when we got there. I don’t typically write bad reviews but we were stuck staying at this motel because there was no other places to go once we got there. I spent close to $500 on a place I felt uncomfortable in and I don’t want anyone else to get stuck doing the same. We even went out and bought towels and pillows because the ones provided smelled so bad. It could be a super great place if time and money were put in, but right now, I’m very surprised they are allowed to rent rooms especially at the price.

Booking charged me in 2 installments. Then the hotel charged me the same amount for the room . If I had 300 to pay for a room I would have from the jump ! I have two numbers and no one can give me a reason as to WHY they won't issue me my refund when I provided documentation from my bank and booking that I was charged by the hotel as well . Scammy ! The fact they won't issue my refund after I provided documentation that they also charged my card AFTRT booking charges me .
- Carol (2/5): - We arrived late at 1 a.m. due to our flight delay. They left the door unlocked for us which was nice however the main office didn't open until 10:a.m. the next morning. Our room (#1) was rundown with old furniture and half painted. We slept with lights on wearing all our clothes afraid of bed bugs and cockroaches. It's too bad because it's a lovely area! I don't know what the rest of the rooms were like because I couldn't talk to anyone the next morning. I couldn't wait to get out of there!

A joke. There was a wad of purple gum stuck to the side of the table that was so old it was hard as rock! The toilet felt like it was going to fall off. Bed was very uncomfortable and pillows were flat. Fridge was very rusty looking. There was a hole in the wall with exposed wires that were capped. I wouldn’t have given even 1 star it was that bad! Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!

- Andrea (2/5): Not a good choice! - The room was filthy and the toilet didn't flush. When we complained about it, the owner denied that it was not clean and said the toilet was working. We showed her the proof and asked for a different room, which she said she did not have. We cleaned up the mess ourselves. She then said we could just check out because we were complaining too much and that she already rented OUR room to someone else! This motel was great under the prior owner, but this new owner is HORRIBLE! I also called during the hurricane to see if they had water or power and she said no water but she was still renting rooms, which I'm pretty sure you are NOT supposed to be doing!! Sketchy, sketchy!! We will never stay here again!

Everything was completely overgrown, including all the gardens, there were ac units broken down just laying around the premises, too much other junk to count, and the place was filthy. Room 1 had roaches and the cottage looked like someone was living in it before we arrived. There is not much to like about this place. Do not spend your money here. Had we know the actual area we were going to be in we would have found better accommodations. This place is an absolute nightmare and the poor clerk was the only thing that was good there....and he looked about run ragged. Absolutely everything

- Kelly (2/5): - Please do not stay here. This location is not as described. The man who answered the phone when I checked in seemed fine. Nothing wrong there. The room was a total disgrace. It was advertised as having a pull out couch. This is not true. There is a broken futon. It is also advertised as sleeps 4. Two people cannot sleep on an average sized futon. The tow twin beds were very broken down and one of the mattress covers had blood or maybe coffee splashed on it (I didn’t get close enough to make the call on what the substance was). There was a bandaid holding the outlet plate cover to the wall and it had been painted over. The property was also a mess. The pool gate was broken and on the ground (this is really unsafe overall). The furniture by the pool was all broken. There were multiple air conditioners just hanging out behind the rooms in the areas where you would walk to the pool or use the advertised grill (there were a few grills, none I would recommend using). There was a tampon just on the ground. Weird wiring and things from the rooms. Overall, I would really just like my money back but whatever. We ended up leaving less than 24 hours after check in.

- David (4/5): Grove City - Slightly disappointing. We made the reservation for a 1 night stay. Did not want to spend a lot of money for 1 night due to the fact we would not be there most of the stay. Just spending the night. The property was overgrown with vegetation which wasn't inviting to start with. The units are set up with full kitchens. The room was spacious but very dated. The air conditioner did not work but luckily was not needed due to a cool evening and ceiling fan in the bedroom. The shower head was leaking and half effective distributing water. Overall I guess you get what you pay for. Probably would spend the extra money to stay elsewhere.

- Lidia (6/5): Could be nice but is just functional. - I like the studio, having a kitchen with fridge, stove, some cutlery, a living room with comfy sofa and good wifi internet. The staff is nice. You don’t see much of them but that’s fine, someone is there if needed. The shower head is awful. The place really needs some love. It is not dirty but is not clean either. It can be an amazing place but needs a strong hand on the little details

- Robyn (8/5): Vintage Beach Motel - Easy, breezy experience at a old school beach motel. Everyone was freindly. Quick access to Manasota Key. My family and I enjoyed the stay.

- Dennis (8/5): Very good - The place was clean. All the amenities necessary for comfort were provided. The bed was comfortable. I am a laryngectomee which means I'm without a voice so I communicate by messaging only. Joe was there as soon as a message was sent to him. Overall very good experience and I will definitely be back.
- Anne (7/5): Good - Places for breakfast/lunch walking distance. But also able to cook in the room. Close to town, beaches.also as a solo , older female traveling alone I felt safe. The place is old, but it is clean. Manager is clearly working to improve old facilities. Full size fridge was nice!
- Rose (6/5): - The room was clean enough. The walls are so thin you could hear the neighbors talking. Had a coffee pot but no coffee cups. Overall it was okay for one night.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Grove City Motel - The overall stay was good. Joe the Manager allowed us to check in early and was very hospitable and accommodating. The area was safe and very quiet at night, allowing us to get a good night's sleep. Although, the only negative was that the hotel is very outdated. We stayed in the cottage and it could have been cleaned a little better. The window coverings were old curtains and blinds that didn't fit the window sills, allowing some light to creep in at night. The bed was comfortable and the old window AC had to be kept on all night in order to cool the room, and it was quite loud. Other than that, with a few upgrades the place is worth the stay for a one-nighter.

- Reeves (10/5): Weekend Getaway - Came to town for a wedding and stayed in the cottage for a weekend. Great location, great room, Joe was a very responsible manager, and the breakfast place next door was a Major plus!! Super close to drive to the grocery store, bars, and Venice beach.

- Shannon (8/5): - Joe was very nice and helpful. Cottage was average. Bed was comfortable. No bugs ;) Everything works,TVs & appliances. Accommodating for our 2 dogs. The pool was within walking steps from the cottage door. Coffee/breakfast shop right next door. Mexican restaurant within walking distance. Lunch Box across the road. 10-15 min drive to Manasota Key, Beach & the state park and other nice restaurants. Property was being cleaned up from the storms, def making progress.
- Laurie (7/5): Good - Perfect location for us to visit our son and his family just up the street. Got a really good breakfast sandwich from the local eatery next door.
- Heather (6/5): Pleasant - I like the staff, very friendly and very helpful. I did like the location.. not far from the beach. The inside was pretty run down, several areas need a coat of paint. There's no outlet close to the sink for hair straightener..it was across the room from mirror. No full length mirror to check out any outfits. The small kitchen and living room were fine though. The bathroom needs the most attention. For the price, it should be cleaner.

- Emily (4/5): Don’t think I’ll be staying here again - The fleas outside made it unbearable to enjoy the pool, check in took 30 minutes because we couldn’t get ahold of anyone and the office was closed. The bathroom shower didn’t drain at all hardly , there was mold in the bathroom. Overall it was extremely disappointing. The only compliment I can give them is the fact that we did wake up late and didn’t have everything packed at check out time and they were very understanding about that.
- James (2/5): - The management was not on site so there was nobody to talk to about the condition of the rooms. We had 2 rooms and we're there for work. They were left open and we were texted that the keys were inside the rooms. When we arrived we found that the rooms were so so old and the furniture so nasty q Add that we wouldn't sit down. Since we booked through Expedia there was no way of getting our money back. These rooms were so nasty that we decided to forfeit the money and go somewhere else. The Expedia rating on these rooms are way high. I can't believe anyone would ever give them a rating over terrible.
- Del-bourree (9/5): coming back to a familiar place - we have stay here before several times over the course of 20 years - it is simple, but clean and very pleasant. Hurricane this year of course damaged the lush tropical foliage, but the inside was fine and comfortable. it is fine
