- Tori (10/5): - .
- Justin (10/5): - Clean room friendly staff free breakfast.
- Justin (10/5): - Clean room friendly staff free breakfast. It was so awesome to stay there.
- Ellen (10/5): River weekend - Everything was great! Perfect location. Yummy breakfast.
- Kym (10/5): Fun florida feel Hotel! - This is a wonderful place to stay with lots of old Fl feel. I am a native and love finding places like this and it met all expectations. The only thing I would suggest is new pillows on the beds and maybe a more comfortable mattress in the Captains room as we had both Captain and Manatee rooms.
- Nelson (10/5): - The Chassahowitzka Hotel has exceeded our expectations.
Check in and communications was a breeze and our room was clean, quiet and well appointed.
The first thing we said to each other was 'we've got to come back!"
- Sharon S (10/5): - Lovely and very comfortable hotel. We felt like we were right at home. Loved the rockers on the porch and the beautiful trees and the quiet. Waking up to the smell of coffee brewing is a wonderful experience and the breakfast offering was very extensive. Enjoyed a quiet morning having coffee on the porch. Everyone we spoke with was courteous and eager to help us enjoy our stay. We look forward to returning!
- Danny (10/5): recommend - it was Great... Very clean and near everything. good breakfast in the morning.
- Zachary (10/5): - We had a long weekend stay at the Chassahowitzka hotel. Our room was well set up and clean. This is a great old Florida type place. There is a boat ramp and a spring nearby that was great to hang out at. We also enjoyed the local bar just a short walk from the hotel. The front porch is a great place to relax after a day of exploring. We will be back again.
- william (8/5): - Interesting, quaint and convenient to the river. Not luxurious, but a great value.
- Christine (6/5): - Unfortunately, the hot water heater broke and the repair took until late in the night. We left a day early, without asking for any money back.
Rough crowd at the boat ramp.
- Marion (10/5): - Very quiet area.
It was very clean and comfortable.
Like a bed and breakfast more then a hotel. Parking right at the door.
Continental Breakfast was good. Had 5 kinds of cereal with a bunch of kinds of toasts, bagels etc. Fresh fruit cut up berries each morning.
Peanutbutter, nutella, jellys, cream cheese. Pretty much everything.
Coffee at will with a k-cup machine in common area. Communal full size fridge. Always had oranges and muffins out for guests. Nice front porch to sit on for whenever.
We ate breakfast outside each morning.
Just a nice place to stay. Not overly fancy, just nice and comfy.
- arlene (10/5): Great comfortable ckean peaceful place!!! - It is a hiden gem! Clean, spacious, lovely grounds, fire pit, gas grill, picnic tables. Porch and balcony with rocking chairs. Horseshoes. Friendly staff who are very helpful! Short walk to river to see manatee, fish or rent paddleboard, kayak or canoe. Definitely will return thank you@. Nice contential breakfast with fresh strawberrisand blueberries. Great options oak milk, suguar free. Very nice@!!!
- Laurel (4/5): - We did not enjoy this stay as much as we hoped. It appeared dirty, the towels were stained, and was not very private. The staff seemed very nice and when we asked for more blankets they accommodated us.
- virginia (10/5): - Staff was super friendly & nice
- Barton (10/5): - Beautiful Historic Property……comfortable clean rooms, very reasonable rates and the best continental breakfast I have ever had! You will want to stay here!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice but maybe not my first choice - We had a nice stay at this hotel. Clean, quiet. I was not sure of the setup but found out when we arrived that our four rooms shared one bathroom which had double sinks, double showers and double toilets. We shared the rest of the home with maybe four other rooms but was a bit unsure of which areas we could use. So we were a little uncomfortable and stayed in our areas. It would have been nice to have some hot items for breakfast. There was a great stove which seems to never get used. I had never seen packaged scrambled eggs and boiled eggs before! Appreciated the use of the one fridge and microwave, but wish that was in the description. I would stay again but maybe not my first choice.
- Christina (2/5): - Horrible
- Robert and Trevor (10/5): - We loved our stay. Very clean and reminded us of our family retreats to Wisconsin! Thank you for your hospitality!
- Adam (10/5): - Beautiful property.
- Joshua (10/5): - Its a renovated hotel, and a nice piece of history. Clean and quiet. I liked it so much. I decided to stay a few more days.
- Thad (10/5): - The "Chazz" Hotel is a beautiful, historic building. The common area is large & comfortable.
The dining table is large enough for everyone to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. (You won't go hungry) Or play one of the many games found on the shelves.
The upstairs rooms have access to the building-long deck. The rocking chairs are perfect and enjoy the view of woods and listen to the sounds of wildlife.
Every room includes a full private bath.
Just a five-minute walk to the "boat launch". Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle around the fresh-water, spring-fed waterways. Manatees are everywhere in the Fall, Winter & Spring.
- Ann (10/5): - Love it
- Jennifer (10/5): Quite and Perfect - I picked your place from the picture of the Living Oak out the main entrance ☺️ The Manatee Room was great. Simple and comfortable. The breakfast spread was perfect. The English muffins was my favorite.
Having the river just right around the bend was amazing!!! The manatees were unbelievable.
- Tonya (10/5): - Very clean and has a home feeling. You can walk to the local bar which has awesome locals to meet and you can walk to kayak n see manatees during season.
- MARY (10/5): - Barely saw anyone, coded entry and decent breakfast in the morning. Walk to the river was easy, though the manatees were not too visible in the dark river water. It was a nice stop.
- Ian (10/5): - Very laid back and quiet. Although the house is older and a little creaky, you can’t hear it in the rooms. Well equipped
- Cheyenne (10/5): Wonderful stay. - It felt like home. It was great stay. Very convenient to everything! Had room for everyone we needed. We love it. Definitely looking to revisit and stay there again.
- Hongyu (10/5): - everything is perfect. A really good choice surround the crystal river area
- Liz (10/5): - Very quiet relaxing environment ….
- Andrew (10/5): - Loved everything
- Roberto (10/5): - We had a very nice stay there.
They have the most comfortable bed in the world and everything incuding the bathroom was very clean and bright.
The breakfast had a lot of healthy options. Lots of coffee and tea, in a dining room so cute, that you do not want to leave.
We love the place!
Of course we'll be back!
- Joseph (10/5): - Best place to relax folks that run it are great w communication n make it so simple n easy to unwind for a night thank yall
- Hernan (10/5): - Great
- anthony (6/5): Captains Room Stay - 1) it was very clean
2) had an inn type vibe, very homey
3)ordered a queen size bed minimum, received a double, which doesn't work for my wife and I. Mattress was worn and sagged in the middle V-wise. Highly recommend a new mattress for this room.
4) front door lock was faulty. Couldn't get in without a call or text.
5) very private, as we were the only guest.
6) Quiet safe neighborhood.
7) family style continental breakfast.
- Santiago (10/5): - Beautiful. Totally recomended.
- vivian (10/5): Awesome place! - This experience was awesome. The hotel was beautiful, like a bed and breakfast. We were the only ones there (off-season) and everything was great! Anna was the best! Breakfast was filling with a variety of things. We rented a kayak with the campground (it belongs to them as well) and we were able to enjoy the springs right from there. Beautiful!
- Celayne (10/5): - Clean room with very comfortable beds.
- Dodji Kossi (10/5): Amazing - Amazing and pleasant place!
- Nellie (10/5): Beach time - Cute little place to enjoy the beach.
- Maria (10/5): - Anna was such a wonderful person to assist/accommodate us anytime we had questions .
Looking forward to another adventure here very soon.
- Brian (10/5): - This is a Great place to stay if you are into boating or kayaking. Great host and very helpful.
- Greg (10/5): - We have absolutely enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful and peaceful property surrounded with huge oak trees. We walked to rent our kayak just across the road in the campground area (same owner). Perfect beds comfortable mattress - we had the manatee room. We woke up with fresh coffee, cereals, bread and all spread possible and fresh fruits. It was very generous and appreciated.
I was able to work and enjoy florida back country. This is big hit for us!
- Gail (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Really cute place, our room was downstairs just outside kitchen and perhaps the handicap accessible room. We had the whole place to ourselves as no one was there that night, so we did not have to share the kitchen or TV room. The outside had lots of potential, beautiful but was not swept or cared with planters, soil etc lying about, perhaps for an upcoming project? Veranda was quite appealing but also needed sweeping and perhaps a rinse. Breakfast was very generous even for our vegetarian options. Our room had a strange unclean odor but once we opened the door it aired out and staff quickly responded but nothing was needed. Really nice place, totally recommend, would stay again. Lots of food nearby. There are no direcctly accessile spings only via a water transit option, kayak, canoe, etc. Hunters Spring for swimming
- Doug (10/5): More of a Rustic Lodge - This is our 2nd time staying at the Chassahowitzka Hotel.
I would actually consider it a Bed and Breakfast in a lodge setting.
It's not fancy however very clean. Workers are very friendly, and breakfast is plentiful.
Perfect for outdoor people who are fishing, scalloping or swimming with the manatees.
Great location for all the above.
Even an overflow lot for boat trailers.
Gas grill and firepit for your additional use.
Definitely returning for a 3rd time.
- Kathleen (6/5): Ehhh… - It was clean and homey and the water had great pressure although there was no hot water in the sink, only the shower. The breakfast was really nice. The main areas of the house were cool but our room was very warm all night even while using our own fan that we thankfully brought with us. The other couple on the bottom floor complained of the same thing.
The sheets were thin and the bed was hard to sleep on. Tossed and turned all night because we were uncomfortable.
Having breakfast made was great but our room was right off the kitchen so we were woken very early after not sleeping well. Even though it wasn’t horrible I don’t think I will stay here again.
- william (10/5): Highly recommend - Highly recommend, pleasantly surprised. Very close to homohassa state park, which i would also highly recommend
- Meagan (10/5): - Our family has never stayed at a bed and breakfast and we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by the room and accommodations. Breakfast was a nice added touch. This place would be perfect to rent out for a family reunion or vacation.
- Blaine (10/5): - Really quaint and at home feeling stay! Breakfast was great. Thank you staff
- Natalie (10/5): - What a unique place. love the set up and history
- Marc (6/5): - Need a good cleaning, help was nice but they need to up their game. Could be charming as they are the only game in town but are currently mismanaged.
- Sterling (8/5): Nice hotel! Cool story - Nice hotel. Excellent breakfast setup. We played Cabot Citrus Farms and was very pleased with our stay. We would come back!
- Robin (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay! It was very clean and comfortable! The breakfast was awesome! We would definitely recommend it!
- Shirleen (8/5): - Accommodation is in an historic house that used to be a hunting and fishing lodge. We were comfortable in The Captain's Quarrters.
Never saw anyone there but there must have been a body who set out a generous buffet breakfast.
Beautiful scenery.
- Enrique (8/5): - Nice place
- Billy (10/5): - This is the best for a anyone looking for a place in this area - 1 person to a large group! We stayed in a room that slept six (2 large bedrooms and a very large bathroom). The breakfast was fresh. We would definitely stay there again!!!
- Marilyn L (4/5): - Site was beautiful. Very nice upgrades on interior. Bedroom was minuscule, could not walk around the bed.,No instructions for usage of TV streaming system or the Keurig coffee machine.
The breakfast selection was vast. However there were only 4 guests in the hotel. It made one wonder if food, eggs, meat, yogurt, etc. were safe to eat and how many times they came in out of the refrigerator.
This place overall was amazing in both good and bad ways
- Dian (8/5): - We received a checkin code but no staff was there. We were the only ones there! It was very quiet and we had access to a lounge area with tv, snacks and refrigerator. In the morning we woke to an amazing breakfast and as we were leaving a staff gave us suggestions on what to do in the area. Very friendly and helpful. The grounds were very pretty and we saw lots of wildlife there.
It was a little creepy at night though being the only ones there.
- Bonnie (8/5): - We liked the quiet area and loved the breakfast in the morning! Thank you for that! The grounds were lovely and the porch was nice for relaxing and bird listening.
The owner was very helpful with restaurant options and the television!
This place should really be called a bed and breakfast, not a hotel however.
We aren’t big fans of shared spaces when we stay somewhere and the description didn’t really explain that.
We really didn’t want to put the food from our cooler in a shared fridge.
We assumed it would be more like a hotel.
The rooms are more like a sleeping space with a bathroom.
There was nowhere to plug in chargers so that phones could sit on a counter. We had to leave them on the floor.
One side of the bed was up against a wall, so my husband had to crawl in and out of the end of the bed. We don’t have serious mobility issues, but it was a challenge.
Not big issues, more inconveniences.
- Pamela (10/5): Dream setting - Perfect quiet setting, with a bar/grill at walking distance from the hotel. Had a beautiful spread for breakfast, too.
- Michael (10/5): - More like a B&B. Huge breakfast spread, big dining and living area. Manatee room had a large private bathroom and comfortable beds.
- Carolina (8/5): - .
- Julie (8/5): - Very quaint and quiet.
- Stacy (10/5): Comfy Stay! - Wonderful stay at the Chass Hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is much more than a continental breakfast. They also leave snacks out for their guests to enjoy during the day or in the evening. We stayed in the Captain’s room, and there was no closet, so keep that in mind if you are coming for a long stay. Close to all of the wonderful springs and natural beauty of central Florida!
- Paige (10/5): Came to kayak on the Chaz - A lovely spot off the beaten path. This B&B is a wonderful spot if you are planning to spend time on the Chaz over. The property is lovely and the Live Oak in the yard is incredible! The historic building is lovely and has a great history. The accommodations were basic but very comfortable. The breakfast was ample and it is clear they seek options for people with all types of dietary needs. Nice to have the snacks and fruit available through the day! Thanks for a great stay!
- Brandelyn (10/5): - The property was very quaint and quiet. It was comfortable and captured the uniqueness of the location.
- Sky (10/5): - Really cool historical building. Nice for a night or two and close by the boat launch/ kayak launch area for river/springs access.
- mary (10/5): - Quiet and clean!! Love the location, huge front yard with stately tree
- Rhonda (10/5): - Comfy, cute, wonderful staff and great breakfast selection.
- Darlene (6/5): - Although it was beautiful it was NOT on the river. That is the main reason I selected it from others that were actually on rivers. I felt it was deceptive advertising to show the picture of the boat launch as part of the property when in actuality that business was a good 10 minute walk away and was a totally separate property.
The lady that met me to check me in was very brusque. She said that she sent me a text giving me the code for the door but I never received it. She seemed angry about that.
It was very cold the evening that I was there and I had no access to heat because Ann the lady in charge lived off premises and I didn’t feel comfortable calling her to inquire about heat After the BIG hurry she was in earlier. I was the only guest in the hotel that evening which should have been indicative of an unpleasant stay. Beware of false advertising!!
- MICHAEL (10/5): - The hotel was clean and very close to the kayaks. The manager Ann and cleaning girl forgot name was very nice. I definitely would stay again.
- Julio (10/5): - The property was clean cool and comfortable. Staff was great and the breakfast was succulent and a abundant. Access to major intersection was easy as well as. To restaurants and shopping.
Thank you for making our stay a great one. Will definitely return with the family next time.
- vinay (10/5): - Great place
- Carl (10/5): - I was unable to stay at the hotel, so they gave me one of their cottages, which was delightful, and I'm sure, an upgrade. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good hot water and pressure. Comfortable bed. Cold A/C. WiFi was good, but wouldn't connect with my laptop. Would stay again.
- William (8/5): Trial run overnighter - Liked historical aspect. Staff was very friendly. We will return 😊
- Janice (10/5): - The place is great, the staff is amazing. Kim treated us like family. Looking to go back very soon.
Great experience. Thank you!
- Alfredo (2/5): - The room does not reflect the actual condition
- william (10/5): Old world Florida stay - Beautiful property, charming area right next to the spring... couldn't have asked for more.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Manager tries hard - Older building from 1920s. Stairs only. Outside stairs difficult to see steps on way down during the day. Strange room arrangement of suite separated into bedroom. Very large rooms. Non-COVID dispensers of cotton balls and cotton swabs in bathroom. Bathroom window would not close all the way. Manager tries hard but new to the area and seems unfamiliar with locations and restaurants.
- Samantha (10/5): - The hotel is in a perfect area to enjoy the chaz River. Angela greeted us and made our stay very enjoyable. We stayed in the bottom room by the kitchen ( mermaid room) the mattresses were not the best and the pillows were not the greatest, if I do stay here again and I most likely will, I will bring my own pillow ( kinda a snob like that ) lol be open to a hotel that’s like a bed and breakfast. It’s clean and it’s perfect for a few nights.
- Summer (10/5): - What an amazing place to stay! Wish I would have booked longer than one night! This place accommodated my husband and I, my son and his girlfriend, and my daughter! Staff was so friendly and inviting! I slept more comfortable than I do in my own home lol! We will def be booking here again! Thank you
- David (10/5): - Our first visit. Definitely will not be our last. The easygoing old Florida charm is very evident in the facility and staff. Made to feel welcome from beginning to end. Thank you Jim for a wonderful visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Seriously, this has been the most lovely accommodation experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been to multiple countries and a place just 3 hours away from me blew them all away in terms of service and the experience.
It felt like “home”
They didn’t bother us (but always ready to help with smiling faces) they let us use another room because one was still in the process of being cleaned and didn’t hassle us to give the keys back until the next morning. Even then they didn’t hassle us, I gave them to them.
Would come again and again and again!
- Christopher (10/5): Great little place for a relaxing weekend - This was a great hotel. I think it used to be a bed and breakfast but they seem to be running it as a hotel right now. The owner/manager and the housekeeper were super helpful. Really above and beyond. We stayed there to go on the chass river and the staff made sure that happened. It's super quite there, very peaceful. If you want dinning it's really only 15 min away although there is a publix nearby. The bathrooms are detached from the rooms but are very big. The are kind of set up for a group so it's this group has this bathroom that groups has that. I'd imagine great for a group of fishermen or a family. I'm sure it could accommodate a larger family gathering. Hotel probably hold 3 groups max I think their are 6 bedrooms. Very historic feel to the building but it's well maintained. Nice porch nice second floor porch. Rocking chairs. The bed was super comfy. We enjoyed. The staff really made it above and beyond though
