Guest Reviews
- Maciej (7/5): Good -
- Michaela (9/5): Perfect Budget Friendly Option in Fort Williams - Location - right in the heart of Fort William, next to Lidl, with views on the Jacobite Steam Train, 5 mins walk to the bus and train station
Easy check in, kitchen available with all one needs
Rooms - as advertised, this is not a hotel and it would be wrong to expect it to be - a typical student accommodation: a small bed (it is uncomfortable for two but not too bad), small bathroom but all functional. During the first night, the room was really hot and as the windows are small it was almost impossible to let the fresh air in.
- Kuldaking (7/5): Good - Location, near Lidl and centre of city, shared kitchen with fridge, en suite bathroom (but very squeezed) , cleanness Very simple accomodation just for sleep over, the size of the bed might not be suitable for two adults
- Anonymous (9/5): Excellent accommodation! - This accommodation was excellent value for money. It's located a few minutes walk from the town centre so really close to bars and restaurants. There was a Lidl next door which was very convenient. The room itself was spotlessly clean and it was great having use of the kitchen/lounge area as we could make our own breakfast and watch TV. The staff were lovely. The caretaker found us a hairdryer to use which was really helpful and the cleaner was very friendly and gave us useful information about Ben Nevis. All in all, this place exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend. It was all good. :)
- Douglas (1/5): Bad - Location
to town Woke up by loud banging and loud music at 2.30 am, no TV in room
- Timothy (8/5): Very good -
- Jackie (5/5): Passable -
- Jayne (3/5): Manageable, just! - Location No bin in room, no soap, kitchen facilities and cleanliness dire. Bed uncomfortable. Bathroom dirty.
- Robin (8/5): Very good - Good location All ok
- Gary (8/5): - The bed was uncomfortable not designed for a couple.
- French (8/5): Comfortable functional accommodation with helpful staff - Accommodation was functional. We were climbing Ben Nevis so just needed a comfy bed to sleep in and a private bathroom. The two members of staff we met were lovely and very helpful. Location is on the edge of town behind a retail park so a 15 minute walk from the High Street. Not great when you're exhausted from a day climbing Ben Nevis but okay otherwise. Beds are very small and 3/4 size rather than a double.
- Daniël (4/5): A little disappointing - The accommodation was close to the train station and city center. The check-in and check-out was smooth This accommodation is not expensive, and sadly, the quality of the place wasn't great either. The beds are full of metal springs that make noise when you move. All the doors close really loudly, so if you go to bed early you get woken up by all the other people coming in later (even with earplugs). If you go to bed later you'd be woken up by other people in the morning, I'd reckon.
- Philip (9/5): Convenient place to stay! - This is quite nice student accommodation. It is well located in town next to a LIDL outlet which is perfect for stocking up on groceries. Free parking is available on the site. Each suite of rooms has a kitchen and lounge area with for self catering. On the ground floor next to security is a small laundry (one washer and one dryer) that takes contactless payment via a wall mounted kiosk which is handy. The 'Hogwarts Express' (Jacobite Tourist steam train) passes next to the property every morning and Security alerted us to this and told us where to stand to get a photo! This is university accommodation so the beds are fairly basic and although advertised as a double bed it was really a generous single. The room numbering and lift floor numbers are a little confusing but the incredibly helpful security staff will always be on hand to help. When we were there the place had a curious lack of bins or waste receptacles.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (7/5): Good -
- Kerrie (8/5): - Very convenient to supermarket & transport.
Shared kitchen was handy
- Jackie (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Les (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location. Clean, tidy and secure. Parking available on site Room was a little small for two but great for the price for one night
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional Staff - Location and staff, Robert, John, and his wife. Their assistance and local information made our stay one to remember.
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (5/5): Passable - Very close to the train station and we were able to store our luggage before check in. The room didn’t really feel suitable for two people as there was only one chair and not much room in general. Also the bed was very narrow for two people.
- Anonymous (9/5): Very good place overall - Very good location. The staff was very nice and overall it was a good place to stay in. The shared space was quite nice too Some extra kitchen utensils would have been nice: there was cutlery and small cooking pots but things like a pan, a cutting board and a kitchen towel would have come in handy. The oven was also not very clean.
There was no bin in the room or bathroom, that would be useful to add
- Glancy (9/5): Superb - Central, convenient location, room was clean, en-suite, perfect for a couple of nights stay! Nothing really, no TV in room but there was one in the lounge/kitchen area.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Good location for what I wanted Not cheap but little in Fort William during the summer is.
The room over-looked the train tracks but the trains did not bother me much.
- Alistair (6/5): Stay in Fort William - The location, only 5 minutes from the train and bus station The cost, very over priced
- Alastair (4/5): Disappointing - The accommodation was dirty. The entrance was used by the staff to smoke, lots of ash and cigarette butt's. The kitchen was dirty. The blinds were broken. Very few pots and pans or kitchen utensils. Bin was broken. The accommodation was dirty. The entrance was used by the staff to smoke, lots of ash and cigarette butt's. The kitchen was dirty. The blinds were broken. Very few pots and pans or kitchen utensils. Bin was broken.
- Anonymous (9/5): Very happy - Everything was fine Soap in the room would have been good
- Laura (5/5): Passable -
- Tessa (6/5): Somewhere to sleep for 2 nights - The room was clean. The pillows were very flat. Unable to open the window to let air flow through was a problem. The room was extremely warm. A fan would have been very useful.
- Jonnel (7/5): Perfect location! - Very close to the city centre and food shopping. Weather is hot which is best for travelling but my room was like a sauna. Unfortunately, no portable electric fan. Further, maybe due to the weather too, the cold water in my room (Second floor Room 4) was not working so taking a hot shower on a hot weather! Great! All others are perfect!
- Jorge (10/5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Review: UHI Fort William Campus Accommodation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - My stay at **UHI Fort William Campus Accommodation** was absolutely incredible, but if there’s one thing that stood out above all else (besides the stunning views and spotless facilities), it was the **exceptional service from Kensh, the receptionist**.
**Kensh is hands down the best customer service professional I’ve ever encountered in all my travels around the world!** His kindness, warm demeanor, and willingness to go above and beyond made my experience here unforgettable. No matter the time or request, Kensh always had a smile, helpful advice, or a quick solution. He’s the kind of person who doesn’t just do his job—he does it with passion and dedication, and that makes all the difference.
The accommodation itself is **comfortable, clean, and well-equipped**, perfect for students, travelers, or anyone visiting Fort William. The rooms are cozy, the common areas are well-maintained, and the location is ideal for exploring the Scottish Highlands.
But what truly takes this place to the next level is the **human touch**, and Kensh is the perfect example of that. If I ever return to Fort William, I’ll definitely stay here again—and I hope to see the world’s best receptionist once more!
**Thank you for everything, Kensh! You’re a legend. 👏🏼**

- Colin (9/5): Budget accommodation with all the facilities - Located in a central location for Fort William and close to the bus and railway stations. Free parking on site. Very handy for Morrison's Supermarket (3 minute walk). Relatively peaceful location Although the building is fairly new it has seen some usage and a little but if maintenance is required to bring it up to standard. Re;- blinds broken in communal kitchen, several cords to stop windows being open fully broken.
- Jorge (10/5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Stay at UHI Fort William – Kensh Made It Perfect! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I can't recommend **UHI Fort William Campus Accommodation** highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the **warm hospitality, modern facilities, and breathtaking Highland views**. But what truly made my stay extraordinary was **Kensh at reception** – quite possibly **the most outstanding hospitality professional I've met anywhere on Earth!**
**Kensh isn't just good at his job – he redefines excellence in guest service.** His genuine care, lightning-fast problem-solving, and infectious enthusiasm turned what could have been just another stay into something truly special. Need a dinner recommendation? Kensh knows the best spots. Having trouble with your key? He's there before you finish explaining. His ability to anticipate needs while making every guest feel valued is nothing short of magical.
The accommodation itself delivers **everything you could want**:
✔ **Spotless**, well-designed rooms with comfortable beds
✔ **Excellent** shared facilities and social spaces
✔ **Prime location** for exploring Fort William's outdoor wonders
Yet what makes this place **truly world-class** is its people – and Kensh sets the gold standard. His professionalism, local knowledge, and tireless dedication create the kind of welcoming atmosphere that travelers dream about.
**To future guests:** You're in for a treat with both the accommodation AND Scotland's finest receptionist. **To Kensh:** The hospitality industry needs more stars like you – thank you for making my stay perfect in every way!

(Pro tip: If you see Kensh at reception when you check in, consider yourself lucky – your stay is about to get 100% better!) .
- Meghan (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient location, evening staff member was very helpful and went above and beyond to help us locate some luggage that had been dropped at a different location by mistake. We enjoyed our stay!
- Emiliano (9/5): Reasonable option to stay at port williams - The property was comfortable and a few blocks located from the center of Port Williams. Everything was clean and in good conditions.
The facilities has a shared kitchen with everything you need to prepare a proper meal. I think its quite expensive considering its a students apartment.
- Hector (9/5): Superb - This was a great and excellent located accommodation. Lidl and Morrisons were a few steps away as well as the train and coach station. Definitely a great option! The weather was too hot those days and accommodation has no AC. However, totally understandable and the room was provided with a fan which was very useful.
- Ricardo (4/5): Bad choice for families - Acceptably clean Beds were way too small for two people. Bathroom not very comfy.
- Fiona (8/5): A good stay - Good location easy walk to the town centre and shops and train station and bus station. Shower where a bit small. If your obese it would be very difficult to use.
Was not informed that door did not lock behind you when you exit your room many days my room was left unocked as I was not aware of this.
- Callum (2/5): - Misleading advert. Not big enough to sleep 2 adults.
- M (10/5): Enjoyable experience - Good value for money, wonderful staff. Location, convenience.
- Irene (8/5): Good basic accomodation - Clean comfortable basic accommodation that is good value for this time of year in Fort William. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy to get food from Lidl and Morrisons. Shared Kitchen - 2 large fridge freezers, microwave, cooker. Cups, plates, cutlery but only one pot. Some glasses. Couple of settees and breakfast bar. Room- It’s a small double bed and small toilet washbasin and shower but perfectly functional. Need to bring your own soap. Overall suited us well for a hill walking weekend. Nothing - its basic student accommodation and as long as you recognise that before you book it’s fine.
- Peter (8/5): Great value for money - Close to town , excellent value for money . Rooms were very warm , but it was July .
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - The stay was great. Everything went smoothly, clean room and lovely staff.
Parking was also super easy and the location is great for anyone who wants to visit Ben Nevis. There was a kitchen in the room, which was very convenient, but it would have been even better with some dish soap and a few more kitchen utensils.
- Gary (6/5): Pleasant - Convenient location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Basic but functional. Slightly overpriced for quite basic accommodation that does not include breakfast. No problems that would stop me booking again.
- William (6/5): Comfortable enough, but it will be a hotel next time. - Nice location Not as well cleaned as it could have been. No litter bin in the room. Shower cubicle very small.
- Joao (8/5): Very good - Great location and staff, with a good price-to-quality ratio compared to nearby options at the time of my travel. The beds could be more confortable. On my trip I stayed on other similar student accomoidations that took more care on things like giving some complemnentary sample of tea, shampoo etc...
- Malcolm (7/5): Okay - Needed a stop over in Fort William before I headed further north. Was good for what I needed but the facilities were a bit basic to say the least. But it was clean and tidy and the staff were nice and friendly. Also very close to Fort William high street for shops and food etc. There are no soaps or toiletries and no tea coffee facilities in the rooms but I knew this in advance.
- Anthony (8/5): Great location, clean and comfortable place to stay in Fort William with shared kitchen facilities - This is student accommodation that's opened up to the public during the Uni breaks. My room was perfectly fine, clean and the ensuite bathroom had a perfectly serviceable shower, toilet and sink. There's a common kitchen area, where you can cook with a full stove top, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, etc. The location is perfect, just on the edge of the town, near the main supermarkets. I walked to the top of Ben Nevis straight from my room. It was a great day! Nothing bad to say, it met all my expectations; not flash but what I needed for a 1-night stay.
- Whelan (8/5): Good place and clean - Very handed for walk
- Aniela (1/5): Terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here. - - The experience was appalling. I paid €140 and was given a completely dirty room. I spent two and a half hours trying to find someone from reception because no one was answering the phone. At 10 PM, I was finally relocated to another room, which also wasn’t clean.
The bed was full of hair and bodily fluid stains. The shower and bathroom were dirty. The kitchen items were unclean, and the floor hadn’t been cleaned at all.
It’s very disappointing, especially because Booking.com contacted the property requesting compensation on my behalf, and I haven’t received any response so far.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - Great location very comfortable
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Location near train station Nothing
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (5/5): Comfortable but basic stay once cleaned - The location was good. Close to a grocery store, bus and train station. The room itself was basic but comfortable once cleaned. The staff were helpful. On arrival the kind security chap had to change the battery on my door bc the lock didn’t work. I then had to find a broom to sweep out the room bc it wasn’t clean. The shower was tepid/cold. Luckily I had my own soap. I washed the few kitchen crockery items there were in the communal kitchen before using them and the kitchen itself needs a thorough deep clean. For the price it was really disappointing.
- Peter (7/5): Pretty good value for FW in summer, but for goodness sake improve the maintenance! - Perfect location for seeing the steam train. Friendly & efficient staff. Need to improve maintenance. Our blind didn’t work, the card door locking system is iffy, and generally it feels a bit shoddy.
- John (10/5): - This was a most acceptable place to stay with very helpful and considerate staff.
- Paula (9/5): Superb -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Panchal (8/5): Very good -
- Aileen (8/5): Comfortable stay - The room and bathroom were spotless as was the linen. The communal kitchen was a bit grotty.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and it was in a great location for the finish of the west highland way race.
- Michael (8/5): Good - Bed was small double Shower mixer difficult to operate
- James (7/5): Good - The only issue we had with the room was the bed. We booked a double but the bed in the room was not a double. More like a three quarter that was no use for 2 adults Locarion
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- Bonnie (8/5): Convenient quick stay in Fort William - Great location, very convenient to train, grocery stores nearby, walkable, easy checkin, friendly staff, clean room, basic kitchen amenities available. Preferences vary, but bed was uncomfortable for me. Too firm and could feel springs. Worked okay for one night, and no other issues.
- Gabriela (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly and helpful staff Low hygiene, missing rabish bin, narrow bed for 2 persons, common blanket
- Ros (6/5): Very helpful and friendly staff on duty, and a good location, but more basic and utilitarian accommodation rather than c - Spacious room. Very helpful staff. Felt very safe. Location was excellent for us. It was expensive for what it was. Bed linen and towels were fresh and clean.
Great WiFi, and very accessible throughout with easy parking right outside. It wasn’t well equipped, for example one room had no rubbish bin, very limited crockery and cutlery.
It wasn’t comfortable, for example no comfortable chair, or even a dining chair, just a high stool and a swivel chair.
It wasn’t very clean, shower in one room not cleaned well, crockery and cutlery not washed well, kitchen sink had food debris in the bottom of it, splashback behind cooker rings had tomato sauce dried onto it in several places and the floor in the room was quite dirty.
Fridge in one of the rooms couldn’t really be used as it wasn’t very clean and had a strong smell of sour milk/cheese.
- Claudia (7/5): Convenient place to stay. Staff were great. - Location and generous space. Kitchen and kitchen items weren’t very clean.
- Alan (7/5): Acceptable but understaffed and could be improved. - Location was close to the station and supermarkets. The studio room had a stovetop, microwave and fridge. Bed was comfortable. On arrival the entrance door was locked and nobody about. I was unsure I was at the right place. No signs or intercom indicating how to enter. Eventually a security person arrived; he had been busy seeing someone to their room. It turned out that there is only one person on duty at any time. That is not enough. There was no coffee, tea or milk in the room. No TV. The bathroom was small and the shower was tiny. I asked for a quiet room but the train tracks were immediately under my window, I like trains but that was too close.
- Lauren (8/5): Very good - Good value for money. You get exactly what is stated in listing. No hand soap in bathroom. Shower was blocked and drained quite slowly. Everything else was fab!!
- Monika (8/5): Comfortable place for this price and great staff :) - Very, very nice and helpful staff!
Great location, next to Lidl and electric car charger.
Good price for the quality.
Silent at night.
Clean room and bathroom.
Free parking. No hot water in the shower and clogged drain.
No soap or shower gel.
Kitchen could be better equipped and cleaner.
- Paisley (2/5): Very poor - the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the sheets were not cleaned properly and our door did not lock. the room was not cleaned properly
- Eva (1/5): Bad - Beds not really big enough for 2 adults. Not very clean. No curtains on the window.
- Caterina (4/5): Uncomfortable room for two people - The staff member was friendly and happy to help us with the issues we found in the room. The room and bed are small and uncomfortable for two people.
The cold water in the shower didn't work.
As this is a student room for most of the year, it would definitely need some redecorating and adjustments before opening to the public.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - Very good location. University rooms are always a bit basic but this was clean and comfortable. Just what we needed for the one night. The security person who met us and showed us the room was great too. A bit more space - but not a dealbreaker.
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Pauline (5/5): Not for a light sleeper ahm afraid - It was clean and private It was quite noisy - I felt lile I was sleeping in a washing machine
- Pineau (6/5): For the money, it works if you were just one night passing through town.. would not want to do more than 1 night.. - Good location. Security staff were friendly and helpful. Shared Kitchen was not clean.
Beds did not seem to be clean and the showers for at least one of the rooms. We had issues with one of the doors locking, but security staff were helpful to resolve.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Mari (6/5): - Very basic.
Lots of hair on the bathroom floor.
Couldn't have the window open safely overnight but the nice staff brought me a fan.
- Anonymous (9/5): Absolutely fantastic, loved it the stay. - The location was absolutely brilliant - central to town, 2 supermarkets next door, within walking distance of Ben Nevis (3 miles), Neptunes Staircase also delightful canal paths. A variety of eating places, cafes, restaurants all within walking distance for everyone. The staff (amazing) are so helpful, whether it's knowledge of the area, or support in order to make your stay in the accommodation trouble free.
I recommend it with pleasure. It would be outstanding accommodation if there was a protective mattress cover for the bed also protective pillow cover for pillows.
- Anonymous (7/5): Not completely satisfied due to the issue mentioned above - What breakfast?? There was nothing there not even liquid soap in the toilet. That I was locked in the room as the lock got jammed and I couldn’t find the way to open the other and member of staff couldn’t either. He was very helpful but this things should not happen! As well as the key/card system it doesn’t seem to work for some. I witnessed people trying to get into the building by using the card and not able to do it. Also while I was waiting for the kettle to boil the water an explosion happened as the kettle burned completely causing a big noise that I had to unplugged immediately reported it and they were very supportive and replaced it for a new one. Again like the cards to open doors in rooms and main entrance should be checked from time to time as it could have been worse!! Rubbish bin in the kitchen needs to be empty frequently.
- James (4/5): Would not stay here again, we were disappointed. - Fort William is a lovely town, the property is a small walk from the town centre and very close to shops. The staff were very friendly. The room was not clean, there was hair on the floor and in the bathroom. The blind in our room was broken. The room is not worth the price.
- Niklas (2/5): Helpfull security, but overpriced; avoid at all cost, spend your hard earned coin elsewhere. - Parking included. Elevator included. Disgusting kitchen, unusable dish & cookware, filthy. Repurposed dorm room, not suitable for more than 1 person, especially the so called 'bed'. Linen & towels stained, plastic wrapped & heavily worn matress. Insufficient noise cancellation of room. Cost-value-ratio not representetive in the slightest. 200 GBP for 4 persons for one night, way overpriced (at least twice the appropriate rate).
- Xochitl (6/5): - Staff is very friendly. Is it very easy to arrive and everything is walking distance
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- David (2/5): UHI Fort William Campus "What a Dump" - Not very much at all. The property was a complete and utter dump. 1. The room is designed for a single bed but has a double bed squeezed in it's place. You have to climb over each other to get in or out of bed.
2. The bed mattress and pillow were atrocious. The mattress was thin and lumpy. The one pillow that was allocated to each room mate was so thin, you had to fold it in two.
3. The shower cubicle was tiny and the hot/cold mixer was jammed and on the first shower it was sholding hot.
4. The communal kitchen was disgusting. The bins were overflowing causing an unpleasant smell. They were never emptied on the 3 days we were there. There was very little to cook and eat with regarding cutlery, plates, etc. The 4 glasses in the cupboard look to have been pinched from one of the pubs in town. I never saw anybody cook in there.
5. There other issues, but the most glaing of all was that the doors to all of the rooms in our corridor did not lock. As you entered the room using the key card and close the door, it wasn't locked. As you left the room same. There young girls I the adjacent rooms shocked when they realised the rooms were never locked. Serious security issue there.
- Gillian (6/5): The basics could be better . - That its basic Water too hot - turn down a few degrees save energy . The hob control not sure which direction to turn as numbers worn off - no bedside table
- Steven (9/5): Nice room in a location that’s handy for the local attractions. - Location, comfortable bed, closeness of local amenities.
Secure. Friendly and helpful staff. No toaster in the shared lounge (minor gripe as I brought something that needed toasted for breakfast) but other wise kitchen area was good. Keycard reader on the room door was a bit temperamental, but worked fine one the entrance doors.
- Christian (2/5): - Sehr hellhörig, Bad dreckig, wir hatten drei Zimmer, in einem fehlte die Jalousie, in einem weiteren hatte die Dusche nur kaltes Wasser, generell nicht zu empfehlen.
- Fiona (6/5): This poor shower experience has put me off staying in this type of residence again! - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The shower was scalding hot and so I couldn't use it ! It wouldn't cool down! I had to ask for somewhere else to shower. A nice security officer helped me. But we had to look at 2 more rooms with showers that didn't work properly before locating the 3rd room, with a shower that had proper controls that worked!!! So I got a shower and was very relieved! I lost time that morning sorting all this out, so I was rushed to get to work and didn't manage to sort out a nice cooked breakfast in a cafe before work.
- Vanwari (5/5): Passable -
- Lynne (6/5): Pleasant - Location
Kitchen facilities
Parking Cleanliness of bathroom and bedroom
- Janet (7/5): Good -
- Carsten (10/5): Clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation in a good location - Clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation in a good location. Super Markets close by. Easy reach of Fort William Town Center.
Very friendly and welcoming staff and helpful staff on arrival and during our stay.
- Jm (9/5): Comfortable stay - Location is great, close to everything, good safe property. I appreciated that they had laundry on site. The staff were friendly and kind. Would definitely return. I traveled solo but for a couple the bed could be slightly small (still doable). In the middle of the summer (I was there July 27 - Aug 2), it can get a bit hot in the rooms, sleeping with the window open can help.
- Louisa (5/5): Passable - Good location Bed was so uncomfortable so wouldn't recommend for that reason
Also very expensive
- Freddie (9/5): Superb -
- Colin (4/5): Disappointing - Price Shared kitchen not clean
