- Pascal Dominik (6/5): Disappointing - The location in Richmond is truly beautiful and the building itself has a lot of classic English charm. Especially the entrance area and the lobby feel elegant and atmospheric. Since I have visited Richmond several times before, I already knew the Petersham from the outside and had wanted to stay there for quite some time. After several rather simple accommodations during my Europe trip, this was supposed to be the special finale. Unfortunately, the room was disappointing for this price category. It was very small, the floors and doors creaked heavily and there was mold in the bathroom. A historic hotel can of course have character, but historic charm should not be used as an excuse for poor maintenance. In a much cheaper countryside accommodation, this probably would not have bothered me as much, but at this price level I expected more.

- Lewis (8/5): A perfect location and beautiful suite. - The property has an unbeatable perfect location in Richmond. The view from our room and its balcony, was beautiful. The room facilities were fabulous (except water pressure in the shower). Some improvement needed in the communication between staff to avoid stress on checkout. What was promised in relation to airport transfers occurred, but as it was apparently not recorded in the booking records, other staff with surprisingly less than perfect English, misunderstood. The only other negative is poor water pressure in the shower. Whilst we were in the most beautiful suite on the top floor and everything else was perfect, the shower was barely a trickle. Perhaps an investigation of whether a water pressure booster could be installed for the property. We would stay here again despite this issue, but improvement in the shower would be much appreciated.

Grotty, tiny outdated bathroom. And the rude receptionist called Helena who took joy in charging us for two rooms when we’d only booked one room via booking.com. Most off hand and unhelpful. Booking .com admitted it was their error and they would compensate the hotel - but The Petersham still refused to refund us the unwanted second room . Your loss Petersham. We won’t be back.
- Alexander (9/5): An outstanding anniversary stay - We stayed here for our 5-year anniversary and I am in love with the property and its staff. The hotel is a prime location in Richmond and its proximity to the park and the views from the balcony were outstanding. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant is outstanding. The general manager wrote a handwritten letter to congratulate us which made the sentiment so personalized and special. The facilities of the bedroom need a few repairs.

I ordered a Caesar salad from room service, ) one that I’ve had before at the hotel), and it was very poor, actually inedible. The chicken was hard and dry it looked very old! As if it had been cut days before and left uncovered. There was no Caesar dressing or Parmesan. Hardly any lettuce. Nothing like the one I’d had before.

- GrandTour62647034552 (8/5): Great place for a hot drink and snack - I dropped in here for a cup of tea and a snack while in the area for a haircut. The waiter did take what seemed a while to come over and take my order, hence the one star reduction, but once he did so the food and drink arrived very quickly and were excellent. The view from the window over the park and the river was lovely. I would definitely come here again.

The dining room looked very nice and we would have eaten there but we found the menu to be boring.

Set menu dinner package had lovely food and good albeit at first too quick service. Food before wine. Breakfast was the disappointment. Good choice nice food but why no fruit platters or yoghurts. Breakfast costs £34 per head whilst set dinner £39 per head. Seems disproportionate.

- andy0x (6/5): It’s okay - My wife and I stayed for one night and also had the afternoon tea which was a Christmas present from one of our children. The staff were efficient and reasonably friendly and the view from the restaurant of the river is a bonus. Our room was ok but I think I have had better rooms and value for money at a Premier Inn. We didn’t have breakfast as it would have been £60 for the two of us and you could only have one type of breakfast for that, so if you wanted fruit in addition to a full English that would have been extra….ridiculous! Would recommend Bills for breakfast which is a short walk into town and is excellent. Would I stay again, I don’t think so.

Loved that as a resident I could get a drink and snacks whenever I wanted. The bed was a little soft and uncomfortable. The shower was not as powerful as I am used to, but it was ok. The lifts are a little old but that is to be expected.

Last Monday was a non rain day they suggested I walk to Richmond (10mins) and cut down by the river which has lots of cafes etc so get your coffee there. I was so happy I booked for next month when I'm visiting London again. The View of the Thames is unbeatable and it hadsn't changed in a 100 years. Thank You to all the Staff XXX Richmond is full if super restaurants, but I would like the Hotel restsurant to open say 6 nights a week. After a long day it would be nice to eat in the hotel restsurant rather than the bar area or at least have tablecloths on all tables as its not cheap - a Ceasars salad ( excellent ) bowl of Fries and a glass of wine at £93.- I expect a bit more in terms of style... as the hotel is beautifully decorated.

Good layout and design so enough storage, easy to move around but still with a useable desk and couple of comfortable chairs. - stevebG6121BX (10/5): Memorable 80th Birthday Party - Yesterday my wife - together with both myself and over 30 of our closest friends - celebrated her 80th Birthday in the lovely River Room at the Petersham Hotel which overlooks the River Thames in Richmond which it has been doing (originally as the Star & Garter Hotel) since 1865. Our function went extremely well and one of the keys reasons was having such a capable and user-friendly Events Coordinator in Amy Cahill. She was excellent from start to finish - something replicated by the service provided on the day - quite simply, we couldn’t have been better looked after. Both we - and all our guests - were also extremely happy with the Cold & Hot Reception Buffet (excluding cakes which the Hotel were happy for us to source from another local supplier, one of the relatively few we were able to find that made Lamingtons - my wife’s favourite New Zealand Dessert Cakes). All in all - and as we were confident it would be - the Petersham Hotel proved the ideal venue for my wife’s 80th Birthday, so much so that I shall bear this in mind when planning my own!!

- Susan (8/5): Other than the shower and the breakfast, very happy and would use again - the hotel was lovely and in a beautiful location within walking distance of Richmond town. Staff were very friendly. Room was lovely and had everything we needed. The view from the restaurant was lovely. The shower was terrible. Hardly any water pressure and basically ran down the side of the bath making it impossible to actually stand under the shower, so found we were getting cold whilst scooping water with hands to wash. The cost of the breakfast was ridiculous considering we were expected to pay extra if we wanted to have something like cereal, fruit salad, porridge as well. Usually when paying a set amount for breakfast it covers everything. Definitely not worth the £33 per person we were charged (including the mandatory £8 service charge they added on to the bill for the breakfast!). So we did not have breakfast the second day. Plus fact that the tomato wasn't fully grilled as stated, the hash brown was clearly shop bought frozen. there are so many lovely places to have breakfast in down, so highly recommend visitors not to have hotel breakfast.

- Cynthia (10/5): The Petersham was so cozy and lovely, we will visit again. - It was so charming and just out of the way of the busy city but close enough to walk to the Underground. There was nothing we didn’t like.

- parnarama (6/5): Could be better - Beautiful gothic building in a lovely position. The room was fine. The interior deco is prerty awful and doesnt do justice to the buildings heritage. The dining area is nice but the menu is extremelly dull and overpriced. The best things about this hotel are the views from the terraces.
