Guest Reviews
- Abbygale (10/5): - Complimentary wine and cheese sitting on the porch after dark listening to the waves: heaven. Bathroom floor mat perhaps?
- Justin (9/5): Lovely, quaint little inn with a lovely view of the sea and friendly staff - it was a very quaint facility and I loved how close to the water it was, the continental breakfast in the morning was nice as well. Friendly staff My room was smaller than I thought it would be but overall it was a nice stay
- nancy (9/5): Enjoyed! - Coffee was great and the location even better! Everything was great
- Kirsten (6/5): - Good location - walkable to the beach. Friendly manager/front desk. They offer a Continental breakfast and afternoon wine in the public area. However, this is a historic building and the walls/floors are really thin. I got to hear all kinds of fun things from my upstairs neighbors—from snoring to conversations to sex. No daily maid service; they said it was "upon request," so I requested that the bed be made. Still no service. Would not stay here again.
- Dan (10/5): - Great spot! Not luxurious but absolutely fine and in a super location near beach.
- Neus (7/5): - Kind service, very clean bedroom, good situation Very poor breakfast, in my opinion, the hotel price is expensive in relation quality/price.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Staff was great and the room was exactly what I needed. Highly recommend staying
- Kerstin (10/5): -
- Harry (10/5): If anyone were to go to Chatham , I would highly recommend staying here. - Great location , the staff were awesome and friendly ! Definitely will return for another trip. Absolutely everything was provided , beach chairs and blankets , towels. Commercial ice machine and coolers. There was absolutely nothing that could need improvement. Well maybe a microwave in the kitchen/ breakfast area.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): - Room was small but clean, Laura was very attentive, location was fantastic.
- Lachlan (10/5): Absolutely loved the Surfside Inn and its location in Chatham. Can’t wait to visit again -
- landon (10/5): Cheers to Chatham!! - Loved this quiet, quaint and friendly place.
- Anthony (10/5): Magical - Superb location , rooms recently refurbished small but perfect. Greeted with cheese and wine.Lots of extras for the beach fire pit for the evening.
A few yards away, down a small pathway will reveal one of the finest beaches in Cape Cod Can’t really fault
- hannah (10/5): -
- garry (10/5): - Great spot.
- Saswata (8/5): - Excellent location. Beach is less than a minute walk through a dreamy path. The beach is super clean and secluded, so feels like a private beach.
Beer and refreshments available to purchase 24x7. Free wine and cheese happy hour, breakfast. Abundant beach gear for free. Bedding was comfortable. Slightly overpriced based on amenities.
- Deborah (10/5): - The service was exceptional.
- Helio (8/5): This rustic beach hideaway is a nice place to stay - The inn is situated in a quiet neighborhood, yet it’s conveniently located just a few steps away from Main Street. It’s also a stone’s throw from the beach, and the inn even provides beach equipment for guests to use. The inn offers a simple and rustic accommodation. Nothing particularly negative stood out for us. However, it’s worth noting the absence of a refrigerator in the rooms. There’s a communal refrigerator outside, but it’s not very convenient. The breakfast is quite light and simple, consisting only of bagels and coffee. So, don’t expect much.
- Charles (10/5): -
- Luca (10/5): - The inn was perfect. The location way exceeded our expectations, had a tiny beach right beside it that was not busy at all. 5 min walk to the main village in Chatham. The manager is also very nice and helpful. The rooms themselves are clean, recently renovated. I would highly recommend to stay here.
- joseph (10/5): A wonderful stay. We've stayed at the Surfside Inn over the past three years and we hope to return s - Location, breakfast, Happy hour and the staff were all wonderful. A small rusted area at the base of the toilet could be addressed.
- Patricia (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable room and bathroom. Great front porch
- Paula (10/5): - Didn’t like anything. This is a great place to stay close to town, the beach and other spots one must visit here on Cape Cod’s “Elbowland”!
- william (6/5): - Beautifully situated on a charming quiet street VERY close to a secluded beach. The room was clean well laid out, the lobby and porch were comfortable. For the price, there should have been maid service. At the very least, emptying of the teeny waste baskets and supplying of fresh towels.
- Anettemh (7/5): Location perfect - the little things that were missing would make the experience so much better. - The Location was perfect, free parking, free beach chairs and umbrellas. Ice and fridge for the guests. We had a newly renovated room with a nice bathroom but without a wardrobe to hang clothes on and there was only a little cabinet with two drawers next to the bed. I had also asked for a luggage rack and a hair dryer. You had to ask for a service to clean the room or get new towels. The room was very noisy with thin ceiling and walls - you can hear everything from the other guests in the room above. The breakfast was very basic. On the last morning they didn't have any milk for coffee - this shouldn't happened.
- David (10/5): - Convenient
- Alan (8/5): - New to the BnB deal. I thought the room was ok but small
- Zachary (5/5): Wonderful location, really bare-bones accomodations. - Incredible location, steps away from the beach. There is an access path on the dead-end road to the beach that isn't apparent on Google Maps. We walked barefoot without problems. They recently renovated and they left out some important things, like shelves in the shower. Or hooks. Or place to unpack. The only thing they kept was the old bedframes, which were uncomfortable.
- Jason (6/5): - Good location, was disappointed about the room size.
- Eleanor (5/5): Passable -
- Balderas (10/5): Amazing staff, location, and stay!! - The location was very close to Main st and right next to the beach! There was a cute walkway to the beach that was courtesy of the Chatham preservation foundation. It was also very close to the Lighthouse! At low tide, you could see the sand banks!! The inn was very quiet and relaxing, and the sights were absolutely beautiful. We found the price to be very fair considering we were staying in Chatham. The host, Laura, was very very sweet and offered us a complimentary drink for our honeymoon! We didn’t use any of the beach supplies, but it was nice to know how easily accessible they were and how abundant they were! There was also plenty of parking! Nothing! Everything was perfect and we had everything we needed.
- Kyla (10/5): - Super cute property on a quiet side road. It's outdated, though that gives it most of its charm. Staff were super friendly and was greeted with wine and cheese when we arrived. The only issue was that I was not expecting the stairs to be so steep (was traveling with an older person). Right near the beach and walking distance to downtown Chatham.
- Gal (10/5): excellent - everything, she helped us with everything we needed
- Terri (8/5): we were staying over night to visit some friends. It served our purposes but was a little high price - it was ok. rooms could have been bigger for the price paid
- Avery (8/5): 5 star location and staff - The location of this property is why you should stay here. You can walk to a quiet beach, you can walk to the best restaurants/shops, and you can make a day trip to Provincetown or Nantucket easily. The breakfast provided is a nice start to your day. The room included a skylight that let in a bright sunshine as early as 6:30 AM, also we were in able to hear snoring/conversation of other guests while in our room through the walls/floors
- Siobhan (5/5): It was an amazing location but the room was not worth the money. - I loved the location - it was so close to the beach and to Main St. I loved that they provided beach gear, too. It was very old and outdated - of course we were warned about it being “vintage” beforehand by the property. The pictures made it look much nicer. You could barely fit in the shower - and I’m only 5 ft 2 in. The AC didn’t seem to work. It was hotter in the room than in the hallway when we came back from dinner and the AC was set to 70F. Luckily it was cooler outside, so the windows being open worked well. There was so much dust - on the walls, in the corners, in the toilet paper roll. The breakfast provided was lil bites muffins, store-bought danish, and bagels. Not very filling, nothing warm, and no protein offered.
- Bonnie (7/5): Good -
- Carl (5/5): It was less that satisfactory. - Breakfast was poor Breakfast, room was poor.
- Karen (6/5): Only stayed one night and the view in the morning was beautiful. - Close to the beach. Free parking, continental breakfast, comfortable bed and could hear the ocean when window was open. No towels in the bathroom or room. Toilet and sink were very small and cramped. Said there was a hair dryer, but my room didn’t have one.
- Frederick (9/5): Superb -
- Maya (4/5): - Extremely loud, including the cleaning staff slamming doors and stomping at 7 in the morning and generally thin walls. The sheets had what looked like blood stains and the breakfast and other offerings were mediocre at best.
- Kim (9/5): The place was immaculate. - The location from the beach was excellent. The coffee was good, as was the breakfast. My only comment is that the selection of food for breakfast was a bit limited.
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Such a quaint and adorable location, Minutes from Lighthouse Beach, lots of beach amenities, solid continental breakfast, very clean room and gorgeous views. ots of parking. Nothing really.
- Victoria (6/5): - While the location and the common areas were perfect, the room was tiny and the bathroom was ridiculously small with barely any access to the toilet. The view was spectacular but a dorm room is bigger than this one. Also, I specified that it was for 2 adults and a 17 year old. We knew it was only one queen bed but assumed there would be a sofa or somewhere for the third person. There was nothing. Just the hard, uneven, old hardwood floor. We thought it would be "quaint" but not this rustic. Especially for the price.
- Bhavani (8/5): Lovely location - Staff was wonderful. Location is perfect. Just close enough to the town Centre get away enough and closer to the water. Rooms are not the best.
- Tom (8/5): - Value oriented, well
Located (beach about 2 mins and downtown the other way 5 mins). Staff was attentive and friendly. Clean, well taken care of. This is not a high end hotel despite its high end location. You’ll find clean, updated rooms. Bit of a throwback when you could bring a family to a Chatham and not break the bank (and be treated fairly).
- Dominik (7/5): Good for sleep and be outside the rest of the time - Nice location close to the sea in walking distance to town, familiar mood, relaxed Very simple rooms for the price, veranda seating only limited due to hot AC blows out of the rooms.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (2/5): Very poor -
- Mark (9/5): I’d go back - Breakfast was good Mattress was a little uncomfortable
- Leonard (7/5): Good -
- Margaret (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (7/5): Great location, accommodation lacking - Location and views were great. We did not know there wasn't an elevator, in advance. We had to carry our heavy bags up and down two flights of the narrowest and steepest stairs. The stairs were painted black and there was no lighting, at night you couldn't see anything, it was very unsafe! The window AC unit broke in the middle of the night and made for very uncomfortable sleep temps. The rooms have hollow core doors and thin walls, other guests in our hall were coming in at 3 am, and you cannot help but be woken up. They need solid core doors.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (8/5): Very good -
- Cheryle (10/5): Great visit - Convenient Small room up two flight of stairs
- Mosie14 (8/5): Very good - Fantastic location! Close to town and beach. Beautiful town too.
The B&B is a lovely building with a great verandah we made use of.
Laura was a great host. Nothing much ....just a couple of additions would make it perfect, a mirror in bedroom and a chest of drawers, we had to live out of cases as nowhere to put anything.
- Deyan (9/5): Superb -
- William (8/5): Good - Picture perfect setting. No suggestions.
- William (6/5): Quant, Old, Overpriced! - Chris, the manager was fantastic...Responded to advance restaurant recommendations as well as being available and offering additional insight when ever needed. They said breakfast was included... it was continental at the best...but not really! I left the clean room tag on the door and it was not cleaned. We actually needed to use the same towels two days in a row!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great property! Close proximity to the beach, short walk to shops and restaurants, and friendly staff. Daily happy hour and morning continental breakfast add to the experience. We are looking forward to staying again!
- John (10/5): - Excellent value
- Allyson (9/5): Staying here really gives you the true Chatham experience of old. Relaxed, welcoming and comfortable. - So convenient to town and beach. Beds were really comfortable. Amazing views and ocean breezes. Free beach blankets, chairs towels and wagon to cart everything. Wine and cheese at dusk! Hooks instead of a closet or dresser.
- Michaela (10/5): Hidden Gem - Anyone who gives this place a bad review is a picky binch. Rooms are clean and comfortable, property is adorable, proximity to beach spectacular, staff delightful. Yes, it's not the Chatham Bars, but it's also not Bars' prices, so get over it.
- Hans-jörg (10/5): Exceptional - The team is very friendly and helpful! It was a great pleasure staying with them. The beach is close and you have a small sea view from the terasse. There is a small breakfast and additionally a complementary wine hour in the afternoon! Super! I accept that the price is high in places like Chatham, but the whole level for this area is much too high... I don't expect that this will change in any other direction than going even higher... so if you want to enjoy this nice place... you have to accept it...
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Rooms had no closets. Also only a very small mirror in the bathroom which made it difficult to put makeup on. Also no full length mirror.
- Maraike (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly team, town in walking distance (european walking distance), beach close and quite, beautiful terasse, traditional house
- Ken (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (6/5): - Room was a dated motel room at $375.00. Continental breakfast was mediocre. The beach area (small) was the back bay so no waves. You could walk to the town of Chatham from there around 10 minutes which was nice. All in all very expensive for accommodations. In Mystic we stayed in a literal mansion (Captains Mansion) for $50.00 more a night and it was 5 stars. Surfside was 2 stars.
- John (9/5): Superb - Location and the amenities. Close to town and the beach. It had good seclusion.
- Patricia A. (10/5): - This was a very quaint inn, close to the water and very walkable to town. The staff was fantastic. The bathroom could use some updating along with places to hang up clothes. Saying all that, I would stay again.
- Burtts (8/5): - Location is great, guests were friendly.
Our bathroom could use an upgrade but everything was quaint.
- Andrea (10/5): - This is my eighth visit in 7 years. They are always wonderful, clean friendly Just a great place to stay!
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Janice (10/5): - Very accommodating, nice staff, essentials included for the nearby beautiful beach. Will certainly return.
- Michael (9/5): WONDERFUL - THIS PLACE WAS GREAT JUST LIKE HOME WOULD GO AGAIN IN A MINUTE NA
- Deborah (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Surfside Inn. The accommodations are modest but clean and comfortable. There is easy access to Lighthouse Beach and to restaurants and shopping downtown. In addition to a continental breakfast, there are beach wagons, chairs, and towels available for use, and a guest shared fridge and ice machine. There is a 5-6 pm wine and cheese hour, and also wine glasses available for you to borrow for your room. There's plenty of outdoor seating for guests to enjoy as well. We will definitely return!
- Kathleen (8/5): - It is a modest property, clean, well-managed, friendly staff and great location. The only problem for us was the noise in the lobby and hall--you can hear EVERYTHING so even a moderately loud conversation echoes everywhere. Maybe in a room far from the lobby, this wasn't an issue but anywhere close to the lobby and stairs, it is annoying. There was a group there for a wedding and they were very loud. Without a manager on site, there was no one to monitor the noise so it went on until we went to the lobby and said something.
- Gerhard (10/5): - Great location; old building but in decent shape; very friendly and helpful manager (Chris);
We plan to return.
- Kristen (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (2/5): - This hotel is a pit. It should have been torn down years ago. It’s a fire trap.
- Jafarli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Cute inn with great staff. Somewhat outdated but a great value. Walkable to beach.
- Lisa (10/5): - A beautiful inn on a quiet street!
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Lori (10/5): Exceptional - Chris… the gentleman in charge of hotel operations was amazing. He was kind and pleasant and helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure every single guest had exactly what they needed!! Thank you Chris! You made our trip!!
- Beth (4/5): An average stay - It is well located near the beach and the Main Street in Chatham. The room and amenities were incredibly basic and very disappointing for the room rate.
The Wi-Fi did not work in the room.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - The location is excellent. Easily walkable to the center of town and the shops and restaurants. The beach is super close and he neighborhood is very picturesque and pleasant. Chris, the manager, is awesome. Very welcoming and friendly and he is happy to give recommendations on things to do and places to eat. We will definitely stay here again. There really wasn't anything that we disliked.
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (8/5): We enjoyed are stay very much, and we will be back for sure. - Different types of muffins in the morning, and white and red wine in the afternoon. Very close to the beach. Walking distance to town.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - survey is way to long
- Sean (6/5): Pleasant - didn't eat breakfast at the location. great location, it needs a upgrade.
- Marian (10/5): Exceptional -
