- sajjad (10/5): -
- Roma (9/5): - Very friendly helpful staff, nice room with ocean view ( you have to ask for ocean view - downstairs rooms have no view at all), very nice infinity pool with ocean view, nice upper deck for lounging
- Marie (9/5): I loved it. - The staff, the pools, the peacefulness, the food, the Ayurvedic massage and the other guests. No beach to walk on nearby.
- Nithish (6/5): Has become old - Location. Facility has become old and not well maintained , family did not feel comfortable beause other guys smoke and drink in front of rooms
- Preeti (5/5): Very average stay. Not a boutique resort at all - Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good A/c in the room didn't work. No provision for mosquitoes which were really bothering us all night especially since a/c wouldn't work.
Bathrooms badly appointed and designed. Toilet right next to shower and no wipers or shower curtains so the floor was always wet.
This was more of a bed and breakfast with a pool than a boutique resort since the food was outsourced anyway
- Jiji (1/5): Bad ! - None Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unsafe and Poorly Maintained
We were extremely disappointed with our experience at this property. The place is very small and poorly maintained, falling far short of the expectations set online. The rooms on the lower ground level were suffocating, with no view (see the pic of the view from the room ) and felt dangerously close to a raging sea.
Given the current weather conditions, it is highly irresponsible for the hotel to continue accepting bookings it poses a real safety risk.
Parking was a major issue as well, with very limited space, and the property itself offers no room to move around or relax. We felt so uncomfortable and concerned that we decided to leave within an hour of checking in. Definitely not recommended.
- Uma (10/5): - The team was very accommodating. They were more than happy to incorporate our requests.
- Junaiba (7/5): -
- Katja (9/5): Very good - Staff, style and overall good atmosphere. Excellent kitchen. No access to the beach for swimming.
- Jenny (7/5): -
- Jenny (7/5): Friendly staff but rooms need some attention. Book the newer rooms with the terrace & sea views & not the garden -
- Akhilesh Sharma (9/5): -
- Usha (7/5): Cozy, clean and comfortable - Retreat was a good location with views of the sea on the terrace. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was simple and tasty. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served quite late in the morning compared to other hotels. Starts at 8:30 am - 10 am. If you have any morning activities booked outside of the property, can be a bummer. No bicycles to rent and roam about this beautiful coastline.
- Nikhila (3/5): - Property is not worth the money . I spent close to 10 k for a night during off peak season in November . Did not feel it was worth the money spent for such a non peak season . They barely had 2 other guests and yeh facilities were not so great . Property was maintained poorly and rooms were very basic . They had few sea view rooms which were Empty and that looked better . Staff told me if i pay extra 2.5 he can upgrade . I agreed for it but when I went to reception to give cash another person which I doubt is the owner asked for 6k . Definetly the property was not worth for an extra 6k so I left . Then the staff again came back to my room and asked me if I settle for 4.5k which made me feel so unprofessional . Good thing about the stay was it calm and had a good sea view from common area .
- Robert (8/5): -
- ASHOK MECHUR (10/5): - Excellent food
- Jane (7/5): Comfortable stay but not worth the money - Comfortable bed, nice pool Not on the beach as stated, sun beds need attention . Breakfast average
- Simi (6/5): -
- Venugopal Menon (10/5): - We had an amazing experience at 36 palms . The king size sea view room was amazing with an ocean view . The food at the restaurant also tasted really good . The service overall was top notch . Special shout out to Shegil who took really good care of us. We had an amazing stay and will visit again for sure. Thank you for the amazing experience . Nothing in particular to point out
- Sharon (6/5): - Food could have been better and the room should not meet the amount spent.Average experience.
- VIJAYAKUMAR (6/5): -
- AKHIL (9/5): - The ambience 😍👌🏻
- Melanie (7/5): -
- Arendt (10/5): - The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped us to explore the surroundings and even made the food to our liking! The location is beautiful and quiet.
- GAIL (9/5): - Everything Location a little noisy as near main road
- Shibin Das (10/5): -
- Kaushik (10/5): - Amazing place and amazing food
- Christa (5/5): -
- Rajesh (9/5): -
- Praveen (3/5): -
- Madhu (5/5): Very Very Average Stay - The staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast (buffet) was quite good. The room view was poor-specially the back view was a close to a resort's engineering/maintenance dump. There's no view to talk about in from-except for the tide retardant rocks!
Hot water actually got activated towards the end of the shower(took 10 minutes for hot water to be activated)
Parking is a major hassle. They have 11 rooms and parking for 4-5 max cars!!!.You remove your car to go out & by the time you are back-you are left without any parking slot!!.
Lunch I had was very average-bengali/oriya style cooking in Kerala!. Boiled prawns wer just put into a gravy and served lukewarm.
Since they are challenged on the kitchen -they permit outside food. What happens to the resort is a guest complains about food poisoning?
If cars are kept without any security-who pays for damages? Attached photos of the room views (frontage & back) indicate that for Rs 5400/ the room is not Value for Money
- James (8/5): - Room sea-facing and the location was great. Breakfast was decent too. Price was a bit too much for all the amenities provided. Infinity pool is good.
Kein eigenes Restaurant.
- AMIRTHALINGAM (6/5): -
- Lorraine (8/5): -
- ROHIT (7/5): -
- Shafeeq (8/5): -
- Baiju_Nair (5/5): Decent but a lot to improve. - The location facing the sea is excellent especially if you have a Sea View King room. Although the buffet breakfast and restaurant was not available due to inclement weather, the breakfast that was served in the room was tasty although with limited options. We booked 2 rooms. One was the Sea view King room and other one was Standard twin room with garden view. The 2nd one was a disappointment as neither the beds looked like it was shown in the pictures nor there was a view to any garden. The main door has an ancient lock and key mechanism. The major problem was the blankets in the Sea view King room was dirty and had stains in it. It only got changed when we called the staff and showed it to them.
- Prithviraj (10/5): -
- Jagan (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best resort I have visited till now. The receptionists were really helpful and friendly. Great staff who knew how to serve the customer. The room was well equipped and the service was excellent. From the balcony, we could view the sea and feel the cool breeze. The location of our room was absolutely perfect.
- Vaishali (10/5): Exceptional Monsoon Getaway at 36 Palms Resort Cherai! - Our stay at 36 Palms Resort Cherai was truly memorable, even during the monsoon season. We specifically chose this time to experience the beauty of the rains, and the resort certainly delivered.Despite the constant downpour and the rough sea preventing us from enjoying the sandy beach, the property remained impeccably managed and fully operational. What truly stood out was the incredible infinity pool. Even with the continuous rain, it was kept spotlessly clean, offering us the most incredible experience – it genuinely felt like we were swimming right in the sea!The staff deserves special commendation for their exceptional consideration and attentiveness. With fewer guests during this season, they were able to focus entirely on our needs. We were delighted by the variety of breakfast options available, and the flexibility to dine either in the charming restaurant or the comfort of our room was a fantastic touch. For anyone looking for a serene and well-cared-for escape, even when the weather isn't perfect, 36 Palms Resort Cherai is an absolute gem. We can't recommend it enough!
- Manojkumar (9/5): Superb - Wonderful location. Sea view rooms offer excellent views and the balconies are within 7-8 metres from the sea. Not very elderly friendly. Ground floor rooms are not sound proof. TV sounds are audible in adjacent rooms
- Srini (7/5): Every thing at the resort is good except Food...It should've been better. - The Ocean view from sitout area.... Food.. especially Breakfast...
- Sidharth (8/5): Very good - Very good ambience. The sea view is really good
- Sujith (7/5): Good -
- Naomi (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay in a wonderful part or India. - Absolutely beautiful hotel in a beautiful location.
The staff were attentive, the food was lovely and very authentic.
- Rupinder (9/5): Sea view rooms are amazing, great for beach view and exceptional staff. - Exceptional staff, great service, clean pool, beach view quiet location. Everything we ordered for dinner menu was delicious. Loved hearing ocean from my room. Sea view rooms are perfect for stay. Initially stayed on the first floor, rooms need some TLC.
- Peter (3/5): 36 Palm Botoque Retreat - Couple traveling through Kerala.
2 night stay.
Fantastic pictures in promo. However it's nothing more than a motel backing on to a break wall.
Rooms 5,6,7&8 at ground level with garden and wall view.
Our room 7 has a great big support post by end of bed in middle of room. Shower facilities and mechanism poor.
After notifying staff of our poor experience, we were upgraded to the room next door. Not much better.
There is no access to a the beach in this area.
Nothing to see or do in the immediate area.
Staff even though very friendly, have no clue about serving breakfast. Eggs, toast, fruits and juice would come out all in wrong order and cold.
Pool fantastic looking and clean. (only positive)
This is also an alcohol free hotel which is not advertised.
You are allowed to bring in your own alcohol and consume in your own room.
- Amarendra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Klaudia (10/5): A Hidden Gem in Cherai – Tranquil, Welcoming, and Truly Special ! - I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful boutique resort in Cherai, Kerala this January, and it was one of those rare places that immediately makes you feel at ease. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with such warmth that it felt less like checking into a resort and more like being invited into someone’s home. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout my stay – always around when needed, yet never intrusive. The owners themselves are incredibly hospitable, and their passion for creating a peaceful, comfortable space really shines through in every detail. The rooms were pleasant, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the fantastic terrace with an ocean view – perfect for slow mornings with a cup of tea or sunset watching in the evening. The infinity pool overlooking the sea was an absolute highlight – calm, clean, and beautifully situated. There’s also a lovely restaurant on-site with ocean views, serving fresh and tasty food. It’s the kind of spot where you could happily spend the whole day just relaxing, reading, or taking in the view. Just a short 3–5 minute walk away, there's a small hidden beach that felt almost like a private one. Quiet, peaceful, and completely unspoiled – a real treat. Another standout feature of the resort is its exceptional Ayurvedic treatments. From relaxing massages to personalized doctor consultations, everything is handled with care and professionalism. There’s even the option to enjoy a private morning yoga class with an ocean view – a truly unforgettable and grounding experience, all offered at very affordable rates. An added bonus is the resort’s location: it’s within easy reach of both Cochin International Airport and Fort Cochin. If you're looking for a place to unwind, recharge, and feel genuinely cared for, I can't recommend this resort enough. I left with a full heart and will definitely return.
- Jerry (10/5): Exceptional - Sea View from our room & deck. Nothing to complain.
- Olga (10/5): Wonderful place! Will come back again for sure! - Calm and peaceful. Perfect to chill out. Amazing swimming pool with the sea view!
- Kendall (8/5): Restful Seaside Stay - This place was great for the two nights we stayed to spend some time near the sea with our friends. The place has a rustic feel with your own personal padlock to lock your room from the outside. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the owner took time to chat with us and get to know various guests. They have spa options and you can hear the sea crashing on the rocks from your room. It was incredibly easy to get around by asking for a tuk tuk or a driver. They'll organize everything for you. This is more of a sit by the sea than a beach vacation spot! This is not what I didn't like, this is things to know before booking! The staff will come around to you early before meals times to ask for your order and schedule your meal time because food orders take around an hour due to a small kitchen and lots of people. It worked for me and my friends since we hung around the hotel most of the day but if you like things to be quick and structured, it might not be for you. The same goes for the spa treatments. When the spa personnel get to the hotel, they'll come around to see if anybody wants to book in a treatment but there isn't someone to book in with.
- Albin (8/5): Very good -
- Nadia (2/5): Tired, shabby and amateurish. - The pool. My room was advertised as with a garden. It was not a proper garden. People came and went with no privacy so I could not open the curtains. At the back there was a wall as a view. The room was shabby and tired. The bolt on the door did not work as well as the bathroom window. The food was mediocre. I found hair in my chicken curry. The service was patchy and amateurish. The advertisement about this resort was misleading. Definitely a place I would not go back to.
- Franck (8/5): Very good - The infinity pool with sea view.
The huge terrace with deckchairs and hammocks is magnificent.
The location of the hotel and its beautiful garden. The staff a little too discreet, and the boss a little hard with her employees in front of the customers.
Not much choice for breakfast.
Difficult to reach the hotel after a certain time because there are no more auto-rickshaws.
I imagined the backwaters a little closer to the hotel.
- Raichura (8/5): Very good - Location, Services, massage was good Need to plant local Kerala trees instead of ornamental exotic plants. Greenery and amenities needs to be increased. Food options were less for vegeterians.
- Malgorzata (9/5): Peaceful retreat - Really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the resort.
It allowed me to unwind and spend time quietly reading and sunbathing.
Reasonable prices in the onsite restaurant.
Fantastic massages and yoga classes in the morning complement the experience. The beach is not really available for swimming apart from when the tide reveals some pieces of it.
The taxi service offered by the resort is quite pricey however you can always get an uber to make travel more reasonable.
- Jasper (5/5): Nice location with a lot of buts - Good location. Good air conditioning in the room. The staff were really good at English. We had a ground-floor room. In the pictures, it looks like you have a view of the water, but in reality, we were looking straight into a dike – a bit disappointing.
There were major issues with hot water in the shower. It often took 10-15 minutes for the hot water to come through, and even when it did, the water pressure was so low that it was practically impossible to take a proper shower.
The sun terrace itself was fine, and it was great to have direct access to the sea. Unfortunately, there were only four sun loungers, and they were quickly occupied. There were also no parasols or any other form of shade, which made it difficult to stay there for an extended period. A simple solution would be to add more foldable sun loungers that could be put aside when not in use, as well as better shading options.
The soundproofing in the room was poor. We had upstairs neighbors who dragged chairs across the floor in the evening (23:00ish) and made a lot of noise early in the morning (around 07:00), including loudly clearing their throats. This wouldn’t *normally* be an issue in a well-insulated room, but unfortunately, this one was not. Even with earplugs, I was woken up by the noise.
We had hoped to use the hotel as a base where we could spend full days sunbathing, but in practice, this didn’t work very well. We ended up sunbathing and swimming in the sea in the morning and then heading down to the actual beach later in the day, where there were better options for good food and shade.
- Jibin (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (9/5): Très bon séjour au bord de la mer - The location, beautiful view from the terrace.
- Abdul (7/5): Good -
- Rakesh (10/5): Exceptional - First of all - Pool just beside seashore, nice seaview and amazing location. Me and my family both children 4 and 9 year olds enjoyed it thoroughly.
Food is very tasty, and didn't find it expensive given the hotel is premium one. We stayed for 5 nights and it was definitely amazing experience for us with peaceful ambience right near seashore...We stayed in garden view room.. Staff members are very courteous and have been trained well. We also met with the owners of the resort, and found them humble and nice people, focused on maintaining high standards.
- Hester (10/5): Perfect place to relax - Location was perfect if you want to relax - pool, sunbeds, hammocks, restaurant all overlooking the sea. Is a small place with a lovely atmosphere - all the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Chose to eat there for every meal as once we'd arrived we just didn't want to leave. Would definitely return if back in the area. Nothing.
- Rani (10/5): Exceptional - The food was excellent. All cuisines were unique and I loved the way the fish was made. It was fresh. Subit service was great.
- David (10/5): Brilliant !! - Absolutely clean rooms, hospitable staff, great amenities and great vibes Food service timings.
- Vinay (9/5): It’s a fantastic stay for couple to enjoy for staycation. - The location and the leisure space to enjoy. The food is awesome. The hosting is really good. Everything is perfect and kool. The lighting in the rooms is little dull
- Charmaine (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the staff couldn't be more attentive. The location is relaxed and chilled
- Hahn (9/5): Well designed and directly at the sea (not beach) - Nice and well-designed resort directly at the sea. Friendly staff. Nice room. Good food There is no beach. Swimming in the sea is possible but access is a bit demanding with slippery stones. Not recommended for small children. But they can use the pool
- Syam (8/5): Very good - Staffs were very hospitable. The property is at a nice place. Overall Ambience was really good. Less space in the property. Also, chlorine or some chemical was smelled in the pool water. Geyser was not working for one of the rooms.
- Arun (9/5): Superb -
- Neethu (9/5): Superb -
- Sara (10/5): Paradise on earth - The beach was glorious and the hotel was right on it. We could see the sea from our room. The infinity pool was beautiful. All the staff were excellent and the food was great. nothing
- Alfred (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alfred (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mann (7/5): Good - The rooms were air-conditioned and had both a mini fridge and a kettle. The hotel staff were very helpful. The property had a swimming pool. There were less mosquitos around the hotel as the sea breeze kept them away. (Many of the properties along the lagoon suffered with higher levels of mosquitos) The view from the ground floor rooms weren't great as they faced the sea wall. The location wasn't great either. Whilst the property itself looked over the sea, it was a fair walk to reach the beach. The property sat on the sea wall and the beach was maybe 2kn down the road.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Pechetti (9/5): Excellent view and service. Very bad food. - Beautiful view and friendly staff. Very bad food which costs a lot.
The manager compensated us for the bad main course. But it’s not nice to be served unfit food when on a vacation.
- Krishnadev (9/5): Superb -
- Pradip (5/5): Would stay there again if all the work as completed and the place modernised - The staff were friendly. Work be carried out, we were moved to first floor where the rooms were decent but we had to pay upgrade price 20,000 ind rupees.
The showers didn’t work, no hit water in sink.
Was advertised as beach front but was sea front. The beach was 1.5 km away .
Only plus point was the staff were very obliging and would cook anything we wanted.
The walk ways were all bumpy and the steps were nor safe in places . In places a step was same black colour as the ground and could easily be missed , as it happened to me and I fell.
It is far from a boutique hotel as it’s described.
Should close it for a month and get all the work done ,then it can be a beautiful place and can enjoy the great sun set from the balcony
