Guest Reviews
- Kim (10/5): - :) they upgraded us at no extra charge.
- sigridur droplaug (7/5): - Staðsetningin mjög góð.
Fengum nýtt herbergi þegar þegar í ljós kom að ofn í herberginu sem við áttum að fá lak. Pínu sjoppulegt teppi á gólfunum
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Grace (8/5): Got the job done - Perfect location. Comfortable beds. Full kitchen to use. There is a permanent smell in this place. It’s in the main area, but also the rooms. When we ran the sink in our room, it stunk for the rest of the night. It’s hard to leave a negative review though because the houses in this town are old and sturdy, so I’m sure dealing with this smell would be a monumental task.
- G (8/5): - Gewoon prima.
- Ingibjörg (9/5): Recomend - Cozy and great location.
- James (9/5): - Walking distance to everywhere, and a sensible room at a sensible rate with a sense for Isafjordur's history. The check-in and check-out at the hotel was expected and wasn't far away. I can understand a road-weary traveler wanting the logistics to be mroe immediate -- but it's a short drive on a rainy day and a pleasant walk on a nice evening that will give you a feel for the location.
- Kwongchung (9/5): -
- Andy (7/5): -
- Laurilyn (6/5): - The breakfast was great. That was the only good thing. Beds uncomfortable, had to share a bathroom.
- Martin (8/5): - a lovely old house with big rooms in nice area,
You can check in to Hotel Isafjördur everytime around the clock
- Fridriksson (10/5): Front desk person was very helpful - Breakfast was outstanding

Rien!
- Harsh (8/5): -
- G (8/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): - The breakfast was Fantastic Bed a little hard
- Nikita Chicherin (10/5): -
- Astrid (5/5): Mattresses need to be updated, too saggy :( - Close to the main hotel which offered breakfast The beds were very saggy and uncomfortable. Also, the shower door (telephone booth style shower) had one of the sliding doors broken and was hanging very precariously
- Stefanelli (7/5): - Spazio comune accogliente.
- Anne-Maree (9/5): Cosy and quiet guesthouse, a relaxing place to be - This place had a nice cosy feel. My room was a good size and very comfortable. I slept well here.
The kitchen was a great size and well equipped. The communal seating areas were a good size and comfortable. Lots of space for guests. On street parking at the door or close by.
Breakfast was down the street at Hotel Isafjordur and was extensive. A fantastic selection of food, including selections for those with dietary requirements.
Shared bathrooms were enough for the number of guests and kept clean. Room had a basin and mirror.
Good wifi A washing machine and dryer would complete this place.
Carpet in room a bit dirty looking.
- Séverine (9/5): -
- Anthony (6/5): - Decor needs an uplift, especially upstairs. Feels like neglect and cost saving not respect for character of old building. Shared facilities need updating. Stained carpet and lack of decorative touches. Good location and free parking in streets around. Good breakfast at hotel.
- GREG (2/5): - Unclean and dirty. Floors covered in stains. Strong smell of mold in bedrooms. My partner and I were unable to stay here due to the health concerns with the mold, especially as one of us is asthmatic.
Hotel staff at the nearby remote check in desk were friendly and accommodating, and did facilitate moving us to a new location for the night.
I unfortunately cannot recommend this particular guesthouse, however the other affiliated hotels are fine.
- Íris (8/5): Very good - I loves that it was a beautiful old house. You can move the beds together. I like that their is a sink inside the bedroom. I did not like the instruction on booking for check in is incorrect. You still need to go the hotel to get the keys and then to the guesthouse regardless of when you arrive.
- Jennifer (2/5): Shabby, dirty and very overpriced -do not stay - Location was central Property is shabby, dirty and unkept
Terrible stains on carpets
Bathrooms really old and basic
Very noisy
Nothing supplied in kitchen i
Old furniture
Expensive - we have stayed in similar accommodation all over Iceland and this was by far the very worst
- Egon (8/5): Very good - Very nice simple, clean and quiet room. Exactly the place I needed after hiking in Hornstrandir for a week. The included breakfast at the hotel was also very good. I wish it was made clear from the beginning that I had to check in at the other hotel. The description said that I didn't have to do so before a certain hour, but I certainly did.
- Gary (6/5): - The most annoying feature was arriving at the address of the guest house and finding a note advising us that the location for check-in was about a 7-minute walk away. Not knowing the town, the directions weren't clear, but Google maps saved us. Other than that, it was a good experience. It was clean, quiet and conveniently located.
- Stephenb (6/5): Basic - Great location
Good buffet breakfast Very basic room
No blackout blind, curtains so thin that it was always daylight in the room.
- Hulda (8/5): Good pricing with the discount. - Good location, fair price with the discount. Would not have paid more. Good breakfast that was included. The room was not like I ordered. The beds were uncomfortable, super soft which kills my back. It's an old house with a lot of noise, the floor creaks soo loud, someone started singin 'howling' outside for at least an hour as we were trying to sleep, there is a pub next to the window, probably came from there full blast. It was really hot and stuffy in the room but if the window was open the rolling blinds flapped around with so much noise and the outer curtain is mere dolly for show so we slept in full brightness so we could have some air. Breakfast in another hotel and the checkin/out. We did not know where we could park the car, there was little to no room for parking. Oh and prepare to fight for the shower and the toilet with the other residents.
- Ryan (10/5): Cozy room - Cozy place to stay, property was very clean. Breakfast included was a huge plus.
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- Päivyt (8/5): Cosy guesthouse. - It was nice old house in the centrum. Room was clean and big enought. Breakfast was different hotel but good. We had quet neighbours. We had to pick up and leave the kee to different hotel. Breakfast was in the different hotel.
- Suzy (8/5): Nice location. Easy to walk in town. - Unique older building. Advertised as robe, slippers, and hair dryer = there was none of these. Check in and out was at a different location, this was not convenient.
(10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful house, old but very nice and comfortable. Enough WC and baths, breakfast also was very good, with a view from the restaurant.
- Norman (8/5): Very good - very good breakfast
- Fiona (8/5): Good price and great location - The guesthouse was very clean and the lication is great. The staff we dealt with wrte very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great. The guesthouse is an old building so it is noisy, you can hear the other guests moving around and talking, I recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
- Rina (10/5): Clean room and great breakfast - The reception which is close to this property is 24 hours and amazing breakfast! The shower pressure was really good. Nothing
- Elena (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (7/5): Character and Well Located near Old Streets - Had character, comfortable, well located. Coffee at breakfast was pretty bad. In this day and age, better coffee is needed. Bread was excellent however!
- kailee (8/5): - This guesthouse will bring you back into another timeline. There are so many interesting history pictures and pieces on the walls, it’s really neat to see. It’s a lovely old building that reminds me of anyone’s grandparents house. With it being older though, it’s a little outdated and not in the greatest shape. The carpets are quite dirty and stained but we had no problem wearing socks and just looking past it. The shower and bathrooms are quite small. There are plenty of common areas and places to hang out.
- Nökkvi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (7/5): Nice for a short stay - Location and nice old building The room was a bit smal for 3 people
- Irina (9/5): Superb - Everything ok! When we travel, we just need a place where to sleep, so this kind of places are the best. Very cozy, there was everything we needed to make a dinner and to have some coffee. Old but nice and clean. A bit bad airquality, but old places often has this "problem".
- Íris (7/5): Good -
- Ólöf (7/5): Good - The location is very good The carpet is shabby
- Farley (9/5): Superb - Interesting old hospital turned guesthouse. Rooms were basic but clean. Shared kitchen facilities. Good breakfast was included at the nearby hotel.
- Jensína (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Good clean accommodation at a value for money price. - Excellent breakfast. I would have like to have seen some some local food on the buffet.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Irini (9/5): Superb - The sheets are my favourite Tourists did nót know how heating works and as an Icelander I had to explain to all residents because everyone was freezing.
- Terry (8/5): We had a nice stay. - Closeness to town. Clean
- Skuli (8/5): Very good -
- Hjaltadottir (4/5): cheep, both price and the accomodation. - good placement close to the center. the room was cold, the heat was off in the room when I came and it was only about 8 degrees outside. the room was badly cleaned, a dirty towel in the room from the last occupant. The bed is also low quality, charming old house, but the guesthouse coold do with a good clean and a renovation to get it up to standards. Shower is bad.
- Sigmundur (6/5): Pleasant -
- Berglind (5/5): Arrived in the evening on friday. Hard to find að parking nearby all was taken. I took my car to charge it and another c - Quite peasefull in the day time. Nice space in the room for my things. the stairs in the hall made a huge noise it was unpossible to tiptoe. Didn’t find the free wify code. There was noise from á pub nearby late in the evening. When I arrived the lady in the hotel was not welcoming. Luckily I only saw her once.
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- Sten (8/5): - It’s in a good location downtown, but you have to walk a few blocks from the main hotel where you check in and have breakfast. Nice breakfast though. There’s no staff on site. Street parking is a little tricky—we got lucky
- Simon (8/5): Cheaper more homely alternative to hotel - Off-shoot of the Hotel Isafjordur Turg, as is the Hostel and they’re all on the same street. Clean quiet and comfortable with useful kitchen to make own dinner. Good breakfast at the hotel which can also look after luggage
- jean (4/5): - Stained carpet, no effort at decor, no staff on premises, breakfast many blocks away, toilet seat broken.
- Tanya (10/5): Great stay - Great stay. Breakfast good. Bed comfortable. Very clean.
- Ashley (10/5): Nice stay - Good basic stay at a clean hotel with the needed minimal essentials. Price matches product
- Ray (10/5): - The facility was immaculate. Breakfast was very good. There was fresh pineapple, melon. Hot food such as scrambled eggs and bacon were on the daily breakfast buffet. The shared bathrooms were clean and tidy
- Brenda (7/5): This worked for us. - The kitchen worked and the side space. Location was central to town. Drain in shared Shower did not drain and floor flooded. I would have like a staff person on site. Staff located at larger hotel short walk away.
- Guðrún (9/5): Superb - Fantastic breakfast with gluten-free options and a great location. Really loved the house and the old interior, exactly what we were after. A little cozier interior of the room would be great, to connect to the really nice interior of the house. Not that it bothered me a lot just a tip for making it a lot better.
- Þuríður (9/5): Superb -
- Leonida (8/5): The breakfast was very good - The breakfast was very good it was in the hotel where you checked in. They have a functioning kitchen with stove, microwave, they have tea selection, shared bathrooms, street parking. The guesthouse check in is at a different place, you go to a hotel not at the guesthouse itself they should give the address so you don't get confused
- Jessica (9/5): Lovely place - Check in was easy at Hotel Isafjordur. Kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of tables to eat at. Location was great, close to shops and the high street. Beds were comfortable with the added bonus of a sink in the room which we loved. Only issue 2/4 showers had issues e.g didn't drain, cracked tiles on the floor, the shower head you had to hold.
- Jessica (9/5): Lovely guesthouse - Our stay at this guesthouse was simply wonderful. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were spotless, and the kitchen was well-equipped. Check-in was a breeze at Hotel Isafjordur and the guesthouse was a short walk from there with plenty of free parking nearby. We had breakfast at Hotel Isafjordur which was plentiful, croissants, toast, bacon, eggs, fruit, yogurt and cereal! The sink in the bedroom was a great extra touch too, we wish more of the guesthouses we stayed in had this!!
- Josee (10/5): Good location - A good location in town. Not too far from the hotel where breakfast is provided
- Mike (5/5): Passable - If you are looking for a cheap place to stay this is a great find. Spartan rooms. The Breakfast is spectacular.
- Helga (8/5): Very good - The kitchen was not so clean and limited for 12 people.
- Maggiea (9/5): A good location for a basic stay - It was in the right location for our travel. The price was cheaper than a hotel. A good basic room for the money paid. I didn't like the bathrooms and showers down the corridor but I guess it was a guesthouse and that's why it was cheaper.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Sindri (7/5): Good - Nice location and very good breakfast at the hotel (wich is the reason it gets 7 instead of 6). Rooms could have been cleaner and the beds more comfortable.
- Markus (6/5): Passable for a short stay - Good location and a decent breakfast at a hotel a short walk away. Quite dated and worn down facilities. The place looks like a retirement home which it probably was before.
- Bruno (9/5): Superb -
- Dennis (10/5): - Very nice upscale apartment. Very pleasant to stay there.
- Kimberly (8/5): Great location close to the water and other key sites in town. - The location was perfect and the guest house had everything we needed. The breakfast included was excellent. The guest house was a little on the warm side. Other than that it was great.
- Abigail (9/5): Superb - Great breakfast and quiet accommodations exceeded expectations.
- Alice (10/5): Great value for your money, superb destination, well- presented with breakfast. - Superb location, spotlessly clean with good kitchen facilities. A brilliant base.
