Guest Reviews
- susanne (8/5): - Staff was friendly and friendly.
- Winston (6/5): - Nature
- Shirvern (8/5): - The mini Zoo was a cool thing there
- jasmine (8/5): - Liked large rooms, beautiful surrounding view from room. Disliked that no soap was available (had to purchase outside).
- Ashleigh (10/5): - Highly recommended, especially for Tobago carnival. Very reasonably priced, huge comfortable room, good breakfast, big balcony
- Cheryl (8/5): - Lovely place clean great staff
- CARLISLE (2/5): - Bath shower tub drainage not working properly, during shower water filled up to your ankles, reported to front desk but problem were not resolved. Also breakfast was ok, the staff serving was ok but then cleaning your room are the same people with the same clothes while working in the restaurant 🤔 not sanitary
- Sophia (8/5): - The property is pleasing I liked it I am planning to visit again
- Timothy (10/5): - The entire staff was friendly and helpful, and the compound always well kept.
- Paul (10/5): - Spacious room and quiet environment
- Jason Daryl Abraham (10/5): - Comfortable
- AbbyCez (6/5): Questionable way to spend your money - This facility offers a great hall for meetings and events.
The breakfast offers adequate options for vegetarians, although insufficient caffeine-free hot beverage options.
Plants and animals on-site provide a nice natural setting
INSUFFICIENT parking for paying hotel guests
Standard "deluxe" rooms have rusting, ancient infrastructure, insufficient basic appliances, inadequate clean hand towels, and NOISY plumbing
Water pressure in showers for bathing is variable, sometimes very poor
Internet is very unreliable, continuously cutting in and out.
The owners need to do a better job in modernizing this facility so that visitors to Tobago will have a better experience.
- Peter (8/5): - I like d location of the property n d quietness of d Hotel
- 125bernicev (8/5): Had a wonderful experience - A group of us stayed here, and our experience was great. We intend to return shortly. The staff were quite friendly and accommodating. Firstly, Leslyn made us feel quite welcome. In addition to which, Liselle and Simone made our breakfast experience so warm and personal (Liselle even remembered our individual preferences). The place is very quiet and inviting. The buffet breakfast was amazing, the pool was clean and warm. The rooms are quite clean and spacious. Its a short driving distance away from beaches and shopping. We stayed in self catering rooms and were able to cook, lime and have fun. All of the appliances worked, and there were always staff on hand to give advice or an explanation. Safe parking was also provided. There's also weekend entertainment at the pool for whoever wants to party. Great place
- Geneva (10/5): - The resort was absolutely lovely…I had lots of fun during my stay.
- Kyle (10/5): - Very clean and the staff is very friendly
- baghm (8/5): Property is wonderful, but not many people staying here - We stopped in to see their gardens and animals in the back, and they were gracious enough to show us one of their rooms, as well. The gardens are beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed their animal collection The property is clean and lovely. I can not address the lack of patrons, or address any of the poorer reviews, as we didn't stay here. The room we saw was spacious and clean, and I would not have had an issue had we been staying here. See pictures to see for yourself.
- Mooky77 (2/5): Terrible Terrible Terrible - Very disappointed in this hotel!!! Pool dirty no washcloths no hand cloths barely towels. The towels that were given to us for the beach were all stained. The food wasn’t too great either. The WiFi was terrible had better WiFi on the beach. The pillows in the chairs on the balcony are old dirty and ripped. The television was an old set that barely any channels and it kept stalling because of the terrible WiFi service! I only gave it 1 star because I had to other than that I wouldn’t give it any stars! The owner needs to upgrade his place immediately!!
- DRogersLJ (8/5): Beautiful Hotel........Great Stay!!! - Spent two nights with my mom and two boys at Rovanel's. I must say that the staff are very accommodating and friendly. After having to reschedule my vacation plans and calling the hotel at last minute they will able to allow me to change my check-in date (this was very much appreciate knowing that at this time is considered "peak-season') The mini zoo is a great attraction for the kids, the pool is clean, the grounds are well maintained, the buffet breakfast is good and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. The beaches are not walking distance, however, Rovanel's provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the popular beaches (also the airport). So if you are looking for a great family hotel at a competitive rate I highly recommend them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained! The food was top notch, and very flavorful with solid portions!
Beach was cleaned daily fron seaweed, and raked! Immediate beach access was great to go for a snorkel or two!
- Coastal61223173026 (4/5): to attend a business conference - poor wifi service, the deluxe room was ok but the others need updating. The environment needs better light especially for the rooms in the back. The food was terrible, terrible, terrible. The orange juice was acid that I could not even drink it. When complain they said that's all they have. The hotel has potential but it needs to be managed better to bring it up to standard.
Customer service, the staff and supervisor was not rude or anything but I think they are making the best was they have.
- alexandrina55 (6/5): A hospitable environment - Though not as posh as many hotels I have visited, what it lacks in ambience is made up for is the warmth and caring manner of the staff. This resort is like a home away from home.
However in this day and age when everyone depends on the Internet, there needs to be an upgrading. I have to .go to the lobby because the signal is so weak in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unprofessional owner - Stay was terrible. The pool had bugs in the water, not clean as shown in the photos. Wifi was choppy. The breakfast had a hair in the food and there were mosquitos inside the restaurant as well. I was told since the breakfast was complimentary I could not have it to go, I had to eat inside the restaurant where I was required to sit. The owner was extremely aggressive. I had 3 friends come by the hotel during the day to get dressed for an event we were attending that day, I was told that they could not come into the room unless I paid a day rate. The owner was adamant about this, insitsted it was hotel policy, which I asked to see the policy and was denied. The manager kindly negotiated for me to pay a certain rate which I agreed to pay. The friends subsequently left later that day after the event. Leaving myself and two guests in the room for the night. I was contacted by the owner at 11pm with false accusations that there were 8 persons in the room and he would call the police. I explained that there were 3 persons in the room. He insisted that I pay the additional charge immediately, otherwise he would call the police. I went down to the lobby in my pyjamas and paid the additional charge. I ended up in a verbal confrontation with the owner, which he continued his accusation that there were 8 persons in the room. Which no staff bothered to come to the room to validate this claim. It was the most uncomfortable stay I have experienced. I would not recommend anyone to go there.
- Ann (6/5): Hotel with unexplored potential. - Rovanels would be great for a short or extended stay especially if you have a vehicle. The shuttle is an advantage although a trip in a taxi (from right outside) to airport or Store bay is a minimal price. My son and I stayed for one night in a pretty much deserted hotel so we had the pool to ourselves and only saw three other people at breakfast. Well kept room and surroundings and the hotel should have been busy!
- era (6/5): Not value for money - The showers were faulty. Not good lighting in room no replacement light fitted. Couple of miles from the beach! Food could be better. Some friendly staff. Needs modernisation
- aliciamO1378AP (2/5): Rovanels in Crown Point review - Beautiful spot and location but very disappointed on the place.....had a great time with my husband😊though, made best use of it.
Needs to be updated with all new appliances, new and updated deco and wifi service staff was very helpful did the best they could
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND UNTIL UPDATE IS DONE
- LuLu20006 (2/5): "Highly Disappointed " - Overall the hotel itself is nice . However, the service is terrible , the staff at the reception desk are clueless as to what they are doing , they hung up the phone on me ,when I called many times to enquire about rates etc , this is a total turn off ! They need to upgrade their service !
- icedeborahk (10/5): secretaries and superintendents meeting - our stay was excellent the rooms were tidy and clean the food very good the staff friendly and honest i will be going there in the future for a personal holiday it's one of the best hotels in tobago and best price,a must see is the zoo at the back with all the different animals, including peacocks ask for a tour guide and you will get the best
- JANE (8/5): Comfortable and close to the airport. Nice bfast - The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs.
- trinippl (8/5): FABULOUS - My family and I stayed here for the Easter Weekend this year. Check-in was a breeze and we were very happy to have gotten early access to our room. The room was very clean and well-maintained. The room had all the desired amenities like a kitchenette, hair dryer and even a small gallery. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, especially the flowers. Breakfast is good. There is quite a variety of food available like eggs, sausages, saltfish and even smoke herring. The pool is great! Very large and clean. The two downfalls were the wifi which was only available to one cell phone per room at a time and also that the room did not come with a microwave. I will surely return to Rovanel's Resort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice tropical resort - I enjoyed my stay. I liked the premises, staff was friendly, and the pool area was really nice. The parrots on site were a plus!
- 267jusd (10/5): Quiet and cozy - Rovanel's offers a nice combination of a vacation spot with an intimate experience with nature. This resort is suitable for families with a pool of varying depths.
One can take a short walk on the grounds and be entertained by the parrots and monkeys and few other animals. The grounds are well kept and the area is very peaceful...truly keeps you in touch with nature.
The one downside is although there is a restaurant at the resort, the meal options were limited. Overall though I enjoyed the experience.
- Susan (8/5): Nice hotel close to the beach. Secure with parking - Some issues iniatially with wi-fi in the room located at the back of the compound, closer to the airport, which were eventually sorted out by the helpful staff
- avrilc641 (4/5): New year gettaway - The place is nice to look at and the added attraction of the animals to the back pleased the children.
But the breakfast we prepaid for was poor. The workers were nice but few so service was slow.
New years day there was a wedding and the kids were not allowed use of the pool. We had no previous knowledge and we booked mths in advance.
Very disappointing.
- meerzali (8/5): excellent one nighter - I must say i am in awe with this place. My husband and I needed a place for one night for a wedding in Tobago and we choose Rovanel`s. NO REGRETS !! Close to the airport, their is a nail tech and beauty saloon on compound. Rooms were extremely clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed drinking water and the owner actually delivered it to us at 12am !! exceptional service . Pool was clean and nice and the resturant breakfast was very delicious :)
- abilawal (10/5): Amazing place!!!!! - Stayed at This hotel for 2 days and 2 nights and the service was next to none. The staff were friendly and always willing to help with a smile. The grounds are beautifully kept and the mini zoo is wonderful. I read the reviews and was sceptical but I am happy I went with my gut instinct. The owner was very friendly rooms were clean and it was quite comfortable. Walked to Store Bay beach as it was only a 20 minute walk but really lovey. There were taxis but decided not to take one, but the receptionist did offer to get a taxi for us. I would definitely recommend staying here as I am sure coming back!!!
- Thierry (8/5): Rovanels liefert immer - Es lauft alles wir geplant.
Das Zimmer war sauber und alles für das Fest war gut organisiert.
- azarda (4/5): My Stay at Rovanels - The toilets let out the foulest odor had to use I can of underarm spray to have it smelling good. I sprayed every time I entered the room. The told you it is a self contained room with kitchenette, they didn't say there is no plates, no utensils to use on the stove. No cutlery etc. I used the glasses (two) supplied on all days when they clean the rooms the glasses was not washed.
The pool was great, and breakfast was great.
Do something about the cockroaches in the rooms please.
I have an 11yr son and was charged an additional $180.00 TT per night for him although the room came with 3 beds.
Its cheaper to stay in Miami than it is to stay at this hotel. IN Miami you dont pay extra for a kid in the room.
I wont go back at this hotel....
- NauticalSolutions (6/5): Old Store Bay road Hotel - Great complimentary buffet breakfast at 7 am. Standard toast, scrambled eggs and bacon, sausages (hot dogs), yogurt, local fruits: watermelon, pineapple, pawpaw, along with local smoked herrings with tomatoes, onions and sweet peppers, same with salt fish (baccalau), curried bodi (veg) and coconut bake. Good coffee but did not notice any cereals. Standard deluxe room with ocean view and working ac. Remote for cable tv did not work and no response to correct from front desk. Well kept grounds and swimming pool. The swimming pool looked really clean and well cared for. Unfortunately when it comes to breakfast music, it's what the staff like: loud hallaluya religious music. Did I mention the ocean view includes the nearby airport runway where turbo prop planes take off and land up till midnight and resumes early morning. This and the occasional squaking of caged macaws and parrots. I did not care for the mini zoo with many caged agoutis and rabbits as well as a pair of capuchin monkeys, peacocks, cocrico etc. I preferred the free roaming yard fowl and roosters. One particular receptionist spent a lot of time on her cel phone and treated interruptions by guests with some disdain wanting to return to what must have been a series of ongoing urgent calls. The free WiFi connectivity was poor and almost non existent, although this may have been an isolated situation that particular day in my particular room. The manager when she was eventually told made a gallant but unsuccessful effort to correct the WiFi situation but she was non technical even though apologetic. The location is not the best. It's out of the normal route taxis and at least half an hour walk to a great beach at Store Bay. Okay if you rent a car. Complimentary transport to airport. Certainly has great potential if run by a creative and involved management. Will not be my first choice next time around although I do wish them every success.
- Trinigirl247 (6/5): Will Return - If you love animals you will love their mini zoo. The food was good. Hot water was hot! Something that I cannot do without. The location is good but you will need a vehicle.
The hassle of making a security deposit for kitchen utensils and towels was not ideal. Then you have to go choose the utensils and carry it to your room. This includes a microwave, kettle, forks etc. I did not like this at all. The stove in our room when lit had flames that extended to the stove itself. A fire hazzard. There was an extinguisher in the room but I hoped we would not need it.
Housekeeping only changed towels so in the 4 days we stayed our room was not cleaned. The wifi was not working properly and would drop after a few minutes. If you are dependent on an internet connection I suggest you get a data plan.
After the pool we had to go through the lobby to get back into our room. We stayed in room 4 and were only given a key to the main door not the patio where we exited to use the pool etc.
My kids enjoyed the grounds and the animals. We may return.
- 889tamarag (8/5): Short Vacation - The reception staff were very accommodating and helpful. However, the other members of staff were less friendly or willing to assist. The breakfast was delicious, however, the service was slow at times. The pool was fantastic and they had 24 hour pool access. There was no one else in the pool during our stay. There is great parking and pantry items are available on request.
There were two single beds in the room and when the staff were contacted to change it, it was done immediately the next day. It was very much appreciated.
- scheeks999 (8/5): Nice Pool & Lovely garden and relaxed atmosphere - I spent one night at Rovanel's it was the best. The room was very clean including the bathroom. The garden view was very nice. This place was so different, they have like a mini zoo of nice animals :). We enjoyed the tasty breakfast as well. Thanks much...
