Guest Reviews
- Ryan (4/5): - Neighbour bashing wall allnight and slamming doors.wasnt feeling well after surgery and nine hour drive next day but was convenient at the time was close to my appointment
- Susan (10/5): - So thoughtful and kind. I was so tired and was greeted so warmly, welcomed, and given such a nice room with the beds made just so and a nice cup of tea. Everything u needed was there, everything worked, the windows had fresh air, and the parking spots were generous. Had a lovely chat with the owner in the morning… a great country-type motel in the city. Grateful and will be back!
- 738deirdreb (4/5): Old, needed work, not cleaning and dusting. - Booked because of its proximity to the function we attended. It's about 20 years overdue for an upgrade, cleanliness left a lot to be desired, but despite having to remove stray hairs from atop the king bed, it and the pillows, were very comfortable.
- Compass04822472419 (10/5): I liked it. ! - Ideal for what we wanted.
Stayed here to be close to our son in Mount Gravatt. Rooms are spacious and clean, shower is good. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. I found the bed comfortable and the AC worked! Fridge in the room and a huge TV.
Over the road from a convenience shop and bakers. Next door to an off licence and a pub that serves good food. 20 AUD in an Uber gets you to the southbank if you need for to do.
It has a small pool but we don’t use it.
It’s basic, but nice.
Would stay again if we needed to stay in the area.
Stu & Nicci
- Wayne (2/5): - The good! Room was big and had a king size bed! Shower water pressure was great and hot!
The bad! Room was dirty and so was the property - like a third world country! Furniture was old and stained! We regret opening the cupboard under the sink in bathroom! The whole property was run down and grubby! And as we were coming back to our room an Asian working girl lets her client out of her room! Yuk! I would stay away if I was you and wotif I really think you should not list this place! The only reason we booked was because we were attending a function at the hotel across the road!
- azhar (8/5): - It’s was great break for me there I have rested a lot so quite
- Michael (2/5): - Dirty dingy, cockroach infested, stinking, le@ves nothing to be desired.
- Michael (8/5): - Transport, food and anything else you may need is close by.motel is old and a little worn but priced accordingly. No far to the city, we had a hire car.
- Colin (8/5): - Friendly service and good price
- Lou (10/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful. I will recommend this to everyone to my friends and family.
- John (10/5): - it was quick easy and convenient
- Deborah Ann (4/5): - Unit in poor condition. Curtains not hung, crockery chipped, very sad. Only good things good beds and linen and position. The smell of cigarettes from the veranda into the rooms was nauseating. Have stayed before for the convenience but it’s getting very shabby - sad.
- James (2/5): - Awful - room stank of cigarette smoke, like it had been smoked in every day for 10 years. Every piece of furniture was stained and dirty. Public hair all over the bathroom floor and surfaces, and the shower was mouldy. Probably the worst hotel I've ever encountered. Avoid at all costs
- Ross (6/5): - The location and transport links to the city were great. The manager was friendly and helpful.
The motel unit has a lot of potential to be something more than it currently is. The cleanliness, lack of utensils and a noisey air conditioner was disappointing.
- Betty (2/5): - Very dirty. Microwave and bathroom cabinet need good clean. Tables and chairs very dirty.
- Holification (2/5): Overpriced, do not stay here - Clean linen, that was it. Used our own towels, did not use theirs as it wa smelling mouldy. Gave me milk in a jug - not sure if it was usable. Toilet not sealed with cleanliness sign. Room had cobwebs all over, from the cornices, brickwork and windows! This is a 1 star motel. Filthy and would not reccommend.
Reception staff not representable- wore the same clothing the next day.
- Bernard (8/5): - Room was spacious and fitted out with contemporary furniture despite it being of older construction
- Gregory J (2/5): - Didn’t like any thing about it.
- Fayez (10/5): - good
- Angela (2/5): - I have never experienced a place like this. It was disgusting. I didn’t even put my bags down! There was mould in the bedroom and bathroom ceiling, the sheets were stained, curtains didn’t close and it was so run down. It would have been a health risk to stay there and they should not even advertise rooms to rent in that sort of condition. Would not give a full refund.
- Karin (8/5): - I only needed a place to sleep for 1 night after a Christmas Party and this suited me as it has parking and is conveniently located.
- Fayez (10/5): - ok
- Julie (8/5): - Always have a great Stay at
Holland Park motel
Great Staff
- Jerome (8/5): - This property was perfect for what we needed. It is a little run down and could do with some work. For what you pay for this was great value for money
- Ian (6/5): - You get what you pay for
- daniella (2/5): - Bed bugs no hot water in the shower room filthy
- Paul (10/5): - Great location. Not to far from the city and the Gabba. Good roads to access and cafes and shops near by. Great prices for what you get. Highly recommended.
- Geraldine (10/5): - all of the above
- Doris (8/5): - People that I dealt with went out of their way and were excellent.
- Rayna (8/5): - Basic, clean, friendly welcome, convenient to everything, will stay again.
- Loraine (6/5): - Look this is quite an old hotel in need of something serious repairs but the bed was very comfy and it was pretty clean so I’m not going to completely bag it out. We were in town for a Touch Comp and the location was perfect for that and the Manager was very friendly and very helpful. He even helped me with our bags which I didn’t expect. 10/10 for service☺️
- Peter (4/5): - Room smelt of cigarette smoke, really needs a make over paint flaking from the bathroom ceiling.
- Ryan (10/5): - nice and quiet
- scott (4/5): - Urine smell in Unit. Holes in the Sheets. But the Bed itself very comfy. Good location. Massive amount of Spiders everywhere. No Tea Spoons. Broken Electrical Switch(s). Pool un-clean. Peeling Paint in Bathroom. Spiders Webs everywhere. Filth everywhere. Very noisy. Noisy A/C. TV faulty. No Extractor Fan in Bathroom. Did I mention Spiders.... Massive Nest (s) just out on Footpath. Pathways unusable because of Spiders. The List goes on...... Just a crap place which is a shame because it could be so great with regular maintenance.
- Adventurer422930 (2/5): These photos speak for themselves - I am writing this review as a heads up for anyone who is considering staying at this motel. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. We booked and walked in but couldn't bring ourselves to stay. That's all I have to say.
- Olive (4/5): - There was not a lid for the toilet and the bathroom needs a serious upgrade. Our sheets were not clean
- Robert (4/5): - Some things were looking very sad and in need of an overhaul.
- Denise (4/5): - A very basic and old tired Motel which badly needs updating. The room had the basic needs, but the smell of old cigarette smoke was very unpleasant. The room needs thoroughly disinfecting. The Motel is in a good location and the room had a good size TV.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good motel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was old and there were dirty cups no cutlery cause it’s stolen and the noise from other guests plus paint peeling broken aircon stained furniture
- ronald (4/5): Disappointed - The property is very very tired.the bed was comfy. The t.v.batteries were flat and had to be changed the lights above the bed didn't work one didn't even have a globe.the room was clean but won't stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There were little cockroaches. A friend came to pick me up for dinner and the manager stood at his door staring at us. Was very uneasy.
- N5489IRcm (2/5): Disgusting - DO NOT STAY HERE - Wouldn't even give this place one star! Rubbish bags, some overflowing laying out front of room at top of the stairs as you first walk on to the walk way to the room. As I was unlocking the door, I looked back and found the manager/owner watching me from his own room. As a young woman this was very disconcerting. At first glance, the room looked clean, but stunk of cigarette smoke, however once I pulled the bedcovers back I noticed the sheets had not been changed and there was loads of hair (different kinds) in the bed and stains on the sheets. Looks like they only changed the pillow cases. Curtains were filthy and food or something on the wall. The Couch was supposed to be a nice cream, however it was stained all over. Door had a deadlock, however the security lock on the inside was broken so no way to secure self inside. I refused to stay and demanded a refund. The guy did not baulk at giving a refund but then cancelled my booking through the online booking service with a status of credit card declined so now I cannot rate the place. For an extra $12 per night I was able to stay at a 4.5star hotel in the city which was 300% better quality and cleaner than this place.
- amy802 (10/5): Spacious, clean rooms, comfortable beds with AIR CON - Nice & clean bedroom & bathroom, AIR-CON, comfortable beds, my partner and I had a lovely nights sleep here. My room was spotless and I would be very happy to stay here again. My room was very spacious with a smart TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. There is the option for late check out which is a bonus. Reception staff were super friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. I had a lovely stay and peaceful sleep here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Happy New Year - Lots of Health and Laughter and a Little GOOD Luck thrown in for 2021 from RYCHO
- Gail (2/5): - The rooms are very dated nothing matches shower full of mould on grout walls brick and full of dust between them cobwebs dirty curtains windows and sills. Felt uncomfortable in the room the whole time. Air con and Tv fine only plus I could find. Would never recommend to any one.
- NoNextTime (4/5): - We stayed one night so we could attend a local function. On arrival, a nervous, dishevelled, man served us at reception and gave us the key. No second key available. The stairs and public areas were dirty and rubbish lying around. The room was clean but tiles felt sticky underfoot. The shower screen was very loose and there were a number of items in need of repair or maintenance. Smoking was allowed outside the rooms and the smell wafted into our room. In the car park, the cars are not parked undercover but are directly under the motel balconies and some trees. Our car ended up with bird poo and sap on it. It was advertised that reception opens at 6 am. However when we tried to check out at 6.15 am, reception was still closed even after ringing the bell. We therefore left the key in the room and rang the motel later. On a positive note there was hot water from the shower and the air-conditioning worked well. We wont be staying at this motel again.
- wagaway (8/5): Great value - Pleasantly surprised! On logan rd but facing quiet st and noise was no Problem. Air con was super quiet and bed very comfortable. Clean and more
Than adequate and cheap Compared to others. Yes a bit dated and furniture mis Match etc. But clean, comfortable and good nights sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had all basic amenities. Large comfortable room. Nice stay.
- adrienne (10/5): - I like it here, close to where I need to be, friendly staff.
A place I recommend
- danielfar2 (10/5): Great Value - Great value Motel, near the hospital if you arte visiting someone. its near to lots of shops and cafes for food and supplies.
Friendly manager John who helped us out with any issues
Cold AC and comfy bed
- meljup (8/5): Great Location, Attentive service - I stayed here a week in January for an event at Chandler. Firstly, I want to highlight the positives and also point out the obvious flaws which should be weighed up by importance.
The location is excellent. There is a lot of eating options within 200 metres of your door. The pub next door has cheap and good quality meals.
There is a convenience store across the road for small items. I used it to grab milk.
The bus to the city runs right past.
There is free undercover parking which was almost always available. On the one occasion it wasn't, there was street parking right outside.
There is a pool which is nice to have to cool off in Summer.
The rooms are ok. There is a difference between quality of rooms. I actually changed rooms due to the deadlock not working and my second room was much better (room 5). There are maintenance issues. They need to do a better job of keeping on top of these. Those issues were the lock, bin lids not opening, and light bulbs out. They also need to do a lot better with cleaning the property. Given all the other positives, I was happy to overlook the cleanliness, but if this is a game changer for you, you might want to consider this. Housekeeping was slack. It lets down the property, and it is much different to the attitude of can do excellent customer service that the property manager displayed. They do try hard with the personal side of the business and this is a strength. I felt like I could talk to them about any issue and it would be taken care of. They also keep a close eye on your safety and it felt like staying with a friend. The reception is grotty, and as it is the first room you see, it is a bit of a let down to start off.
If you need to drive around Brisbane, this property has excellent access to the city and all points East, West , North and South. I found it easy to get anywhere from here.
It is not a bad base for events at Chandler.
Overall, the customer service and location with parking won me over at this property. I would recommend it, but would love to see them put more effort into maintenance and cleanliness. I like to also support family owned business, and this motel has been in the same family for 30 years.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating
- meggsw2020 (2/5): Dreadful! - I booked our two sons in here for four nights and I’ve never seen a dirtier accommodation in my life. There was an empty crystal meth bag under the bed. The air conditioner was filthy. Mold and dust on every brick and the stench of people smoking on the verandahs outside each unit. I asked for my money back but he’d only give me back the three nights not the night my sons had to put up with such awful conditions. Management were very arrogant and rude. I would never recommend this place, not even to an enemy.
- amycW7601ZF (10/5): Excellent Stay - Beautiful big, comfortable room. Great customer service. Excellent family accommodation. The wifi connection was incredibly fast. The hotel was in a great location with lots of facilities and shops nearby.
- J (8/5): - Everything was really good only thing i disliked was the cracked sink and repairs in bathroom very noticeable. The walls are pretty thin could hear kids jumping around and yelling from other room. Thankfully i was that tired i was able to sleep. I would stay again hopefully next time theres no kiddies
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Walls between rooms are thin so you can easily hear what is going on, property is located next to main road so there is a fair bit of noise. Premises are clean, plenty of security cameras and handy to shops. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Good budget accommodation for travellers.
- stuieb2017 (8/5): Cosy touch of home - From the outside it just looks like another motel but don't let that fool you. Fast Wi-Fi, big tv, pool and super comfortable bed. Staff were polite and friendly with excellent knowledge of the building.
- Jodie (8/5): - Great property was as described but instructions on how to use hot plates would have made it easier over all great apartment we will be back
- 676gretab (4/5): Very disappointing. - The man that checked us in was really friendly and helpful. Once we walked up the stairs to our room and saw the massive vomit on the stairwell we started to worry.
The bedroom area was ok and quite acceptable. The bathroom however was the dirtiest and most run down that I’ve ever experienced. I felt sick showering in there. Had we not of paid up front I would have walked out. The location is good, next to the Holland Park Hotel and many cafes etc. We booked as it was close to the hospital but won’t ever stay again.
- hsmith6169 (6/5): Interesting - The rooms are compact and reasonably spacious. The facilities were appropriate for the stay and although it was not the room originally booked it was appropriate for our needs.
Close to shops to pick up some dinner.
- william (4/5): - the microwave was dirty with old food inside, the TV didn't work
the room was smelly
- Lukesvotes (2/5): Not clean - Stayed at this motel during the 21st - 23rd weekend.
Have to say it was one of the worst stays I’ve had at a motel.
When we entered the room, shortly after we found used condoms by the bedside table. When bringing this up with them it was stated “oh, the cleaner must of missed this”. Which also makes you wonder what else was missed.
There was also a paper towel duck taped to the roof...
When asking about this it boiled down to “an Airbnb bunch were in the night before having a party”.
All in all, pretty dirty and not at all impressed. No level of refund or anything of the sort.
Bathroom is a bit run down.
Wouldn’t go back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Needs a complete reno. Old and very very tired.
Calibre of clientele leaves much to be desired.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean very helpful and friendly close to the hospital
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff nice and clean good central location
- clh102 (2/5): Awful customer relations - Do not trust them! I booked 1 night at Holland Park Motel and had to cancel due to personal bad news. I cancelled the booking 2 MINUTES after making the reservation (I have emails confirming the 2 minute time difference). I emailed Holland Park to ask for a refund and they referred me to Agoda who I made the booking through. I contacted Agoda who then said it was the decision of Holland Park Motel! Agoda contacted Holland Park on my behalf and said that Holland Park had refused the refund.
I then contacted Holland Park, very politely to express my disappointment and asked if they could credit me for my booking as I regularly stay in the area for work. They did not even acknowledge or reply to my email!! What appalling customer service. Even if they were to deny the request, it's basic business skills to reply to inquiries.
I book accommodation frequently in that area for clients and will not be using Holland Park. I've worked as a travel agent for 9 years and I've never had such poor business communication from a hotel/motel before.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Convenit for my purpose. Too much smoke odours due to other guests smoking habits.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was convenient. The property needs some TLC.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very ad hoc with housekeeping. Sometimes coffee/tea replenished, sometimes not. No housekeeping one day as we were still in room at 9.30 am and cleaner said she had finished and was going home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Second time staying here. Lovely and hard working owners, 5 min drive to eatery (next to Aldi). It’s worth what you pay for ☺️
- Verified traveler (8/5): - You could not lock the windows and not all of the lights in the apartment worked
- Bryony (6/5): - Basic hotel with really nice service From reception
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Suited our purpose and means. The manager helped us in any manner he could.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was quiet even though in a busy area. And it was clean. A few basic maintenance things need to be done in unit, but unit was okay to be used. And i would go there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice Friendly staff, and very nice rooms. Down side is you can hear cars driving outside the building but its still nice and comfy at night, and quite.
- Mickey (8/5): - Great comfy king bed 😃 friendly staff very clean and tidy
- Dave (8/5): - Good motel, very handy to hospital with transport almost at the door.Shops hotel etc all within walking distance.
- Janelle (8/5): - Close to Greenslopes hospital. Nice clean room. Comfy chairs to relax in. Easy to find. Parking was a bit tight for a 4WD vehicle. Overall I would stay again.
- peter (10/5): - Stayed for a few day was very convenient for what I was after
- Kylie (2/5): - Dirty the rooms particularly bathrooms were filthy Liz hair all over the floor that was not ours. Showed with out things on feet. Cheap but u definitely get what u pay for....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient position for our purposes. Mats were a trip hazard, should be replaced or removed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - room was clean, bed was comfortable, free wifi internet had great speeds & never dropped out.
- Laurel (8/5): Good value. - Family business with friendly, helpful service. Spacious. Close to shops & restauants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Good value comfy bed and close to Dan Murphys and good Hotel
- Roy (8/5): - Nice view of the city scape to the north, spacious room,
- Adrienne (10/5): Awesome - Friendly staff, clean room, clean linen, no bugs, good tv signal, wifi, close to everything I needed
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay
nice, central location.
Rooms are pleasant. Shower screen was abit wobbly and was scared we would break it.
Room was very clean.
Carparking was nice and easy.
- Chengchuan (10/5): - Veru happy to stay there for two nights. Close to the city. The rooms located from first floor, car parking is at ground floor. Value for money.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was clean but could use an update with the decor. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hideous - Dirty, threadbare towels, manager entering room without knocking.
Never again
- cullenhills (6/5): Overnight stay to attend a music show at Greenslpoes Bowls Club - Older hotel but more than adequate. Owner and his partner very riendly and accommodating 5 star for cleanliness and very quiet. Close to food outlets, shops and short taxi ride to our chosen venue. Would definitely recommend.
- JLS8817 (4/5): Cheap, but not my place - Stayed here for the night on our way further north. Choose the place initially due to it's location (close to the highway) and the price. The room is old and the bathroom really needs refurbishment. The bed was okay. In our view the room was not really clean. The floor and bed we're all clean but there was quite some dust on the DVD player, window blinds and some other places. We stayed for one night and it didn't bother us, but for a next visit I will chose a different place.
The manager/owner is a friendly and helpful guy. Wifi in the room is available and that works really good and fast.
- LindaB413 (2/5): Not right for me - I truly don't like writing bad reviews especially when it affects a small business but I think this needs to be said.
If you have mobility issues do not stay here. All rooms are upstairs.
I am comparing this room to a motel I usually use a few kms down the road. They are the same price (although I got a deal here - not worth it) but the difference is extreme. This motel is old and needs a complete makeover. Someone has gone mad on diy and it looks like a beginner artist got busy with glass stones, glue, paint and 3D objects. The bathroom was chipped, damaged or looking yuck and crazyily diyed. This private area is positioned adjacent to the walkway so no private toileting. My door did not have a chain and lock not secure. The bed was rock hard so I used the single but still had a poor sleep. The chairs were filthy and sofa had lots of stains and I felt sick.
Before arrival I called to check to ensure I had a ground floor unit and was told there were 4 or 5 steps. He lied - I lost count. He did carry my bag to the room.
Positive points: wifi good. Tv good.
- loricC790CQ (8/5): A Nice comfortable options for a short stay - We stayed for one night during a quick trip to Brisbane. Very easy to find. Nice managers and comfortable rooms. The room we stayed in needed a little care but the room next door was a little more modern so maybe this is a job in progress. All clean and everything you need for a short stay was there. Good value for around $100.
