• Stephanie (1/5): A nightmare ! - Nothing ... Unfortunately. I’m too attached to people who have strong values and are kind-hearted.I haven't found any of that here ... I’m leaving a review here that differs from what I’ve read elsewhere, but unfortunately, it’s all too true. From the moment I arrived, I didn’t feel comfortable and told them I didn’t want to stay. The manager was initially insistent and asked me to pay, claiming I wouldn’t find anything better in the area. Then he understood my discomfort and said it would be no problem to work something out and issue a refund. We waited. He lied to us. Later that day, Booking told me I could file a refund request and that only the manager could decide. Booking didn’t put up any obstacles. I followed the process, but the manager remains silent. As of now, we’ve had to find another option, and he’s keeping the payment for the two nights. So dishonest !!! I certainly can NOT recommend this establishment to you. Finally, I don't think the hotel is very high-quality: the furniture is quite outdated, and the pool isn't very attractive, with lounge chairs that have seen better days. The upstairs rooms have a terrace but no living area. The beach is pretty, but swimming there is out of the question—no one would dare go in because the water is so rough. There are no good restaurants or bars nearby. Opt for a more central location, such as Soorya Kala, which is a truly beautiful property.

Full tour provided on arrival. Honestly everything was pretty much perfect. My one tiny bit of feedback is the bracket needs tightening on the bathroom door as it slams and it would be good to have a door stop to keep the door open as there is no air conditioning in there so it gets a little hot.

Das Personal war unglaublich freundlich, herzlich und zuvorkommend – wir haben uns vom ersten Moment an wie zu Hause gefühlt. Die Lage ist perfekt, direkt am Strand, was alles so entspannend und unkompliziert gemacht hat. Morgens aufzuwachen und nur wenige Schritte vom Meer entfernt zu sein, war einfach traumhaft. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber und gepflegt, und wir haben uns während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und dieses Hotel jedem wärmstens empfehlen, der eine tolle Unterkunft sucht!

The rooms and views are stunning, and my bathroom had a real wow factor with double showers. This place feels like your own private sanctuary, right on the beach and away from the crowds, such a perfect location. The sunsets are absolutely mesmerising and fill you with pure happiness. The smell of the towels (camphor?), the lack of anything special for this high price (no artwork in the room, no fresh flowers, no free snacks, old bed linen.... nothing to make us feel special).

As it was a 4 bedroom villa converted to a small hotel and as we had 2 of the rooms on the 1st floor it felt as if we were the only occupants. The location was incredible, literally on the beach. Swimming pool was spotless. The service from the staff was incredible, we felt so welcome and a huge shout out to the manager Ruwan. He is a credit to the hotel. Nothing could be better, would revisit in a heartbeat

The location is lovely and you can literally step off the property and onto the beach. The food was average. Overall, unsure if I would recommend Hikkaduwa as a place to travel, but if you are going, would recommend this place.

• Daniel (10/5): Dreamy - We stayed at villa 46 for one night at the end of our trip and our only regret is not booking two nights. It was the cheapest stay of our trip but one of the cutest places. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the place just instantly feels like home. It’s very cosy and there’s not too many people staying. The beach is dreamy and we found a nice little restaurant close by. The room was clean and comfy, the bathroom was particularly nice as you can hear the sea with the open air section. Breakfast the next day was nice too, thank you for a really enjoyable stay.
• Catherine (7/5): Nice on the beach location - you can hear the sea and beautiful sunset - We were comfortable, right on the beach and a good distance to the centre It felt a tiny bit dated vs. the pictures but was still clean and pleasant. You can also hear the trains but this didn’t bother us
• Anna (8/5): Very good - The staff was really nice, we were travelling with our 16 months old baby boy, and everyone was very welcoming with him too. The food was also great, the Villa is in a nice location, away from the parties and the people, however, with a quick tuk tuk ride everything was easily available. What we did not like is, that we did not receive the breakfast menu until half of our days passed, for some reason, they did not show us, so we ate the same for three days, and once I asked whether it is possible to get something else, (we asked it before as well) first a young boy said “no”, and then he came back with the menu. Once we ordered from the menu, the breakfast was excellent, it was a shame that we only had the chance to receive this superb breakfast 2 times instead of 5. The window curtains were not the best, it was almost impossible to make some darkness for our baby to sleep.
• Ann (10/5): 10 out of 10 Hotel - This is a total gem of a hotel. Only 4 rooms, so very private and looking out to a spectacular view of the ocean with epic sunsets every evening. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the property is well maintained. Breakfast is amazing! Made to order and super quality and choice. We opted for the delicious sri lanka breakfast and sampled lots of local dishes. The kids had western breakfast with choice of eggs, full breakfast, waffles, or pancakes. The staff are fantastic, providing 5 star service with a smile and a chat. Thanks so much Deshan and Colin for making our stay so special. Nothing we didn't like. It isn't in the centre but tuk tuks are constantly available and super cheap. You can not swim in the sea but there are very few hotels on the beach where you can swim. The pool is lovely and the view is beautiful.
• Benjamin (10/5): Private, exclusive, friendly and cozy stay - Very private due to few rooms, staff is very sweet, approachable and available at all times, positive towards extra requests (arranged very delicious and romantic dinner on the beach for our anniversary, Chef made a lunch to go for our trip to the airport, etc.). • Alex (10/5): Get your kicks at Villa 46! - Everything from start to finish was perfect. We arrived in the middle of the day and were greeted with a delicious, refreshing lime juice. The staff were very friendly and came to greet us on arrival before we were shown to our room, which was big and comfortable with a touch of luxury. The bathroom was great with a large shower and there was a large shared balcony and a sea view that we loved waking up to each morning. Every meal that we ate here was brilliant - the traditional breakfasts were some of the tastiest that we ate during our whole trip, and we had great calamari and crab curry dishes for lunch which were both amazing too. The pool area was great for relaxing and you could be on the beach in a matter of a few steps. Overall, this was a 10/10 stay for us and we'd highly recommend to all!

• Andrey (9/5): Amaizing beach in front. - The location is in front of the beautiful sandy beach. Breakfast is served right near the exit to the pool, you just make two steps and sit. Absolutely friendly stuff. The ocean is really noisy, you always hear the sound of waves.

I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN FOR SURE, THE STAFF WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND HELPFUL. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ENOUGH, WE WERE LOOKING FOR A QUIET PLACE TO SLEEP CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE MAIN AREA AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS, 2 MINS TUK TUK TO THE RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT, THIS IS A MUST GO TO PLACE.

Chef was particularly awesome, every meal blew our socks off. Nothing - for us the distance from the “center” with all the bars and shops was perfect. We cannot recommend this house enough. We would never visit Sri Lanka again without spending a couple of nights in Villa46.

• Zhe (4/5): Disappointing - The room was big, air conditioning worked and the property was right on the beach. The first day that we checked in, the sheets and towels were all dirty. There was a bloodstain on the sheets and multiple stains on the towels. The hotel only has two breakfast options, western or Sri Lankan, and if you choose Sri Lankan you get served the exact same breakfast every morning. I asked one of the staff who served us breakfast about a good place to grab seafood and he only recommended the hotel. It’s frustrating because it makes the whole thing seem like a money grab. Lastly, the service seems disorganized. We had told multiple people what we wanted for breakfast, and what time we wanted to have breakfast. But each time we showed up to have breakfast, they weren’t ready or had forgotten what we said the night before. The problem I have most with all these things is the price point I’m paying. For $150 USD/night, I am expecting better service/cleanliness.

Polite and attentive staff, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation along with the an idyllic location right onto a beautiful and quiet beach front. The cuisine served by the chef is a particular highlights and not to be missed, first class food and service from all the staff. I would recommend the property to anyone and will return myself! Fantastic rooms with all modern amenities. Infinity pool overlooking the beach. Food was stunning. Staff were amazing and special thanks to Dhammika (Manager and chef), Thilina and Colin. Nothing was too much trouble. Wifi in the bedroom did not work. Other than that I cannot fault this hotel. Nothing to improve.
• Travis (10/5): Clean, safe, and worth your money. - This is a very nice stay right on the beach. The staff is very attentive and kind. The food is outstanding. Our only issue was a broken ac unit which they offered to switch us rooms. Overall I would recommend this wonderful small hotel.

• Jessica (10/5): Amazing stay at a calm and central location - We booked a room in this villa to finish of our Sri Lanka trip and we were rewarded an amazing stay here 😊 The staff is very kind and helpful. We loved having chats with Thilina and he took great care of us. The rooms were very clean and spacious including hairdryer, minibar, safe etc. Being first row at the beach, you can enjoy a swim in the sea and listen to the ocean sounds while relaxing at the pool. You can opt for either English or Sri Lankan breakfast. We choose the latter and loved it (especially the coconut rotties). In the evening, you can enjoy dinner at the villa prepared by the villa chef or take a tuktuk for about 400 LKR to Hikkaduwa beach where you’ll find plenty restaurants at the beach as well. We can definitely recommend both. Could have stayed longer

• Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Travel date: early June 2023 After several days spent in the stuffy Colombo, we finally got to Hikkaduwa. Here we chose the place where we will spend the main part of our vacation - Villa 46. How do you imagine paradise? If you are like me, then you will definitely like this place. Imagine a 2-storey villa with 4 spacious rooms and two common living rooms on each floor, decorated in a colonial style with a modern twist - no frills, but everything, as is customary in Asia, is made from natural, good-quality materials. When you open the heavy sliding doors from your room, you get a breathtaking view - a raging ocean expanse (this is the time of the rainy season, so the ocean is restless, although showers at most once a day do not spoil the rest at all), a rich yellow shoreline of sand and no one in sight …. In the mornings, people sometimes walk or run along the coast. Sometimes the thought arises that here is a chance to finally go in for sports, start leading a healthy lifestyle and set off after them. But then these thoughts are carried away, just like all the others, somewhere far away, and you are immersed in contemplative calmness. Access from the ground floor of the villa to a small veranda and a bright blue pool. Breakfasts are served here, prepared by the hotel manager - freshly squeezed papaya juice, fruits and something hot: traditional cuisine or whatever you prefer. A couple of times we bought huge shrimp, raba and clams from the market nearby and asked them to cook it for us. Everything is very tasty and fresh. In the small kitchen of the villa, by the way, perfect order reigns. All dishes are served on good porcelain. In general, from time to time there is a feeling that you are in a different era, and this villa belongs to you. All the time of our stay (8 days, 9 nights) we were alone in the villa. Except for one day when a company of 5 girls arrived. Maybe that's why it felt that way too.

Fresh fruit tea coffee and fresh fruit smoothie Location is right on the beach with superb sunset views and the sound and sight of the waves. On the outskirts of Hikkaduwa so much quieter. Infinity pool is beautiful. Rooms very good size. Very comfy bed. Big shower and tons of hot water. The staff were quiet, polite and helpful. Hearl was lovely. Ran out of rice flour for plain hoppers 😢. I love hoppers. Coconut rotti instead 3 days running. Internet could be faster. Staff could offer drinks when you’re sitting by the pool. Need more sun lounger cushions. And more parasols.

If you are looking for calm, private, relaxing holiday to take time off from everyday life then Villa 46 is place to do it. First days we were in the villa just the two of us. Amazing! Loooved the food.Thank you Chef Dhammika! Thank you Herl and thank you to our friend who made some awesome towel decorations. We also loved the beach in front of the hotel and what surprised us was that there were no people on OUR beach :))) We really did not want to leave.

В результате остановили свой выбор на Villa 46 и очень рады что наш выбор оказался правильным. Мы провели на вилле восемь незабываемых дней. Вилла расположена в непосредственной близости к пляжной зоне, океан виден из окна. Персонал был очень доброжелателен и прекрасно выполнял свою работу. Пару раз просили приготовить для нас блюда из свежей рыбы и моллюсков, которые мы самостоятельно купили на местном рыбном рынке, качество и вкус блюд было выше чем в других ресторанах. Волей случая в этот период времени на вилле мы были одни и чувствовали себя очень комфортно. Все сложилось наилучшим образом.

• Arto (10/5): Enjoyable Villa and staff in Sri Lanka - This was just wonderful place to stay . The location on the beach is good and there is enough distance to Hikkaduwa touristic beach. The beach in the front of this Villa was very peaceful and clean. Waves are big sometimes and need to be careful when and how far away go swimming. Villa 46's staff is simply said great , especially the great chef /manager who made wonderful dinners every evening. Also the entire staff was great and very polite. Mr. Colin is one great person and he is the corner stone for maintenance and service at the hotel. All people were very friendly and committed to every requests we made. Sometimes adjusting the air condition for the next night to the suitable level was challenging. But finally succeeded. That was simply due to hot climate outside. Breakfast was delicious and excellent. I must say that we stayed missing those wonderful people after leaving this Villa. They were simply great people - all of them. And manager is very smart to create such an atmosphere among the staff.
• Merja (10/5): Boutique hotel with 5 star service - This was the best hotel during our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka. Why it was so good was that first of all it is small and very excluded. You are right at the beach with a big pool but still never bothered by anyone. We had a pool room which was very big and comfortable (very good Bed). Every day there was figures made out of towels on our bed and everything was super clean. And then the food... you are served a la carte breakfast right outside of your room and everything is so tasty! In the end, we had almost every lunch at the hotel and every dinner also since the quality was so much better than in the Hikkaduwa restaurants, and price lever the same. Also, you cannot find better service anywhere else. If you want to stay in a place where you can relax and enjoy 5 star service and food, this would be the place!
