- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent value for accommodation. Grocery shops, restaurants and acess to the beach are all within a few steps from the hotel. Plus, it is situated in the quieter strip of the beach. I would have no hesitation to stay at Balaji if I were to visit Arugam Bay again. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, simple, room - Nice, simple, room with AC and own bathroom/shower. At the end of Arugam Bay's main strip, but less than 100m to the entry to main beach (Baby, Mid, Main Points). So while you're still close to everything, you're not in the middle of it. Still able to get away from the crowds and cool off, relax, and recharge. Staff was real nice and went out of its way to help when I had a problem with my rental car. Wi-fi (as stated) is only near the reception.
- Verified traveler (8/5): September 2017 - We enjoyed our stay at the Balaji Ocean View hotel. We initially stayed in the main building on the first night which wasn't as nice as the bungalow we moved into for the remainder of the stay. This was due to the room been unfinished and some dodgy stains on the bedding. Despite this the rest of the stay was very pleasant in the bungalow with a big bed and air con in the room. The staff were very nice and helpful. The location was perfect with a 2 minute walk to the beach and on the main road with plenty of bars and restaurants. In addition, the restaurant on site was extremely good value for money.
- Mario (10/5): highly recommended - very friendly and helpful owner. right in the center of arugam bay. easy access to all of the sights around town. 2min walk to the beach. and nice sri lankan food too. breaky inclusive and all you can order and eat :) price is very good for what you get. a/c and plenty of room, 2 bathrooms. we stayed in a family bungalow. needs maybe some renovation soon, but overall highly recommended.
- hao (10/5): Great place and friendly staff!!! - I stayed here for around a week and a few more days...It was off season, I don't surf anyways, but was hoping to do some Windsurfing...well that isn't done in this part of the country either...So I didn't do any Windsurfing on my five month trip to Asia at all except the one day in Mui Ne Vietnam!!! But Arugam Bay is one of the nicest places I have ever been to period, I never did any Safaris because I didnt want to wake up at 4:30 AM. I did ride around a bit on my Scooter and the food at this hotel was pretty good!!! I actually never ate anywhere else!!! Anyways, the staff was pretty good, the owners very nice and I even ended up getting a free ride to Kandi on my last day from the owner...He even paid for our breakfast later!!! I tried to pay for a meal for his construction crew a few days earlier and they all kind of just flaked off...It was wierd, they could have had a buffet lunch, none of them showed up, at dinner time, I told them to come to the restaurant and just eat whatever, three of them came in and sat down for ten minutes and then wandered off!!! Anyways, I paid around 25 a night off season for a whole cottage to myself with AC and fans too!!! I was a little bored from the total lack of night life in the area and complete absence of any other tourists except for the dozen or so scattered throughout the little fishing village...But over all this hotel was my favorite in my whole month in the country. Yogaresh I think is the owner and a pretty good dude!!!
