• Matthew (10/5): One of the most charming stays we have ever had in Japan! - Incredibly kind hosts: they were so caring and gave great recommendations for things to do in Hakodate The common areas of the pension are well-decorated, warm, and inviting The room was spacious, with super cozy beds and great heating in the cold weather The facilities are kept really clean Nothing!
• Jacob (10/5): Perfect, Safe, Cozy, and Magical. I wish I could live there forever. - I liked everything about this hostel. When I walked up, the hostess welcomed and let me in. There was cozy music playing throughout the place. The host brought my bags up to my room before I could even say that I would bring them up myself. The rooms were spacious, clean, cozy, and safe since you can lock them. They had AC and heat in the rooms. The futons and tatami were comfortable. The bathroom had the best bidets I have seen yet. The showers had great temperature and pressure. There was also free tea. When I woke up the other guests, the hosts, and I were enjoying a conversation. Then the host drove us to the station without me even having to ask. Seriously, I cannot fathom giving this hostel less than a 10. The location is a bit far, but that is stated in the listing so I cannot fault them for that aspect. Its about a 30 minute walk from the station. You can also get a bus that would take you about 10 minutes away. I would asks the hosts for a ride if you need one. The good thing about this location is that it is a >20 min walk to the ropeway and a 10 minute walk to the markets and shops.
• Martin (10/5): Wonderful, cozy, with the sweetest hosts - Wonderful cozy house with an amazing decor full of small little details and gems, it is worth exploring by itself! The couple who owns the place, Sato-san Shuko and Sato-san Junichi live in the house as well and did everything to make me feel welcome, including some small gifts and a photo for memories - and I was gifted a cherry blossom cake while relaxing after a full day in the living room area. Facilities are great as well, and very central, close to the docks. Will definitely come back once in Hakodate!

• Robin (10/5): Simply lovely! - The hospitality was off the charts! We were welcomed with a smile and a delicious cup of tea. The house was beautiful, clean and well decorated. Even got a beautiful little souvenir as a permanent memory to take back home. 10/10, would recommend to everyone that is visiting or planning to visit Hakodate! Nothing. We should have stayed longer.

• Gary (9/5): Lovely stay in a good location, wish we'd stayed for more than 2 nights! - A lovely guesthouse in a good location in Hakodate. It felt more like a family home than a B&B/guesthouse. The owners were incredibly welcoming and very helpful. We wished we had stayed for longer and if we ever go back to Hakodate we'd (hopefully) stay at Pension Jokura again.

• Yukari (10/5): とても素敵な宿です。 - とにかく清掃が行き届いていました。水周りも洗面台が4面あってトイレも男女別で2箇所ずつありとても良かったです。 立地も徒歩圏内で色々な所に行けて観光にとてもオススメです。 しいて言うなら、少し駐車場がせまいです。でも無料で駐車場付きで、文句とは言えません！ あとコンビニが少し遠いくらいです。
• TINGXUAN (10/5): - 住宿地點離車站有一小段距離，須另外搭車前往，但離八藩坂、舊函館公民會所等知名景點都非常近 民宿老闆熱情好客，為我們拍了照片還訂製附有姓名的筷子，入住當天是聖誕節，老闆甚至送了當地知名的起司蛋糕非常好吃！ 房間很溫暖舒適，浴室很大，整體是非常舒適的一家旅館，若有機會再來函館一定會再訪住宿。

• 延如真 (10/5): - 房东爷爷奶奶非常热情善良好客，对我们也很友好，还送了小礼物，非常感谢。公寓特别干净，非常喜欢，很有氛围感，是很会生活很有品味的一家人 对旅馆特别满意，对住宿体验唯一不满意的是，我们住在七号房，里面有一些异味。很奇怪但是熟悉的味道，应该是之前有体味很重的客人住过，还残留了比较浓的体臭味和狐臭味。旅馆的房东爷爷奶奶很努力的打扫了，不是他们的错。

• Stephanie (10/5): Magical accommodation, amazing hosts, comfortable & perfect location, highly recommend this place! - **do not hesitate, book this place - you won't regret it! 😊** Where to begin, from start to finish my stay at Pension Jokura was magical. The family who run this guesthouse are very warm, wonderful, and lovely people and the decor is very cosy. You could spend hours looking around at all the little details and collectables. The facilities are clean and comfortable. Very comfortable futon, soft fluffy duvet and a nice amount of space. The women's shower is especially nice, you can shower "onsen" style. I also did laundry which cost only 400yen total (wash and dry). Location is fantastic, walkable distance to everything, including the red brick warehouses which are lovely to walk around, and only a quick tram ride away from the main JR station - don't let the fact that it isn't by the station deter you. This location is where you will want to be a lot of the time and the station is within easy walking distance (around 15 mins) and tram-accessible as mentioned above (3-4min walk away from tram stop) I rarely write lengthy reviews like this, but my stay was just so wonderful at pension Jokura that I really wanted to show my appreciation. The husband kindly drove me to the JR station which was greatly appreciated. Arigatou gozaimasu! ❤️ Nothing. I would've stayed longer if I could. It was perfect 😊

• Gwyn (10/5): Cozy and homey setting close to Mt.Hakodate - Very warm and hospitable host and hostess. They were willing to drop us off at the station and at the Morning Market (especially on the rainy, windy morning) and provided ideas of things to see and do. They even found our cell phone and got it back to us before we left town. Would definitely return to Hakodate and stay again at Pension Jokura. They even snapped a photo of us and gifted us chopsticks along with the picture. Lovely people and cutest dog. Not centrally located but very close to the Red Brick Buildings and close to the streetcar stops. We didn’t mind walking everywhere and luckily, we got a ride with our host on the day it poured rain so we didn’t get drenched waiting for the streetcar.

• Amelie (10/5): Absolute gem in Hakodate - What a gem! A lovely house filled with so many trinkets - there was just so much to see! Great shower room and room overall, too, I had a great sleep. Unlike some other commenters, I didn't hear anything from other guests. Nice amenities, too. The location was amazing, too! Absolutely wonderful owners, very, very kind - the husband dropped me off at my next accommodation so I didn't have to haul my luggage around. (Plus a very cute dog.) Would highly recommend staying at Pension Jokura!! Nothing. :)

• Joana (9/5): Lovely B&B with amazing hosts - The hosts are very welcoming and lovely people, even if their English is basic, they'll make sure to make you feel welcome and comfortable, offering tea, giving a ride to the station and a little souvenir. The bathroom and shower were always very clean even if shared by all guests. The futon was very comfortable. As expected, one "feels" more the noise when staying on the floor, but this wouldn't be a problem if other guests wouldn't slam doors. This, of course, is not on the hosts, so not necessarily a negative aspect on them. The location is quite convenient, near some main attractions of the town and plenty restaurants in walking distance, and a tram stop just a few minutes away.

Me and my wife were able to meet with the other Japanse guests that were more than happy to share information about their country. The owners provided us with information, gave us the possibility to go to a local onsen and were just very hospitable.

Got to know a little more about the town that we would otherwise not know on our own. They also went out of their way and helped us in a way that we would never expect anywhere else to offer. Will come back again and again. Too popular, hard to book.
• Diogo (10/5): It was amazing! - The dream of every traveller! A beautifully decorated and cozy house, amazing and lovely hosts, and cozy and confortable rooms with every ameneties necessary. We slept really well in the futons! The owners couldn’t have received us any better, and gave us a printed photo they took of us with a hakodate postcard and even personalized chopsticks with our names carved in them for our honeymoon. We wish there would be a Pension Jokura in every place we visit! Would not have stayed in any other place in Hakodate.

The hosts are lovely people who do their best to make you feel welcome during your stay, even if it's only for one night. The house is also filled with knickknacks that give it a cosy and personal feel. Shared bathroom and toilet, but everything is really clean and well maintained. • Teresa (10/5): The perfect place to stay - I loved everything about Pension Jokura. From the welcome when we first arrived to the kindness we were shown throughout our stay. To top it all off, we were generously offered to be dropped off at the train station to save us from walking. Additionally, the hosts so kindly gave us a photo taken on arrival as a memento of our stay. We would have so loved to stay longer. Nothing at all.

The owners are really sweet people and exceedingly hospitable and helpful. The house is nicely decorated. The rooms and shared facilities were spotlessly clean. The room was quite small with only the bare minimum furniture.

Es gibt Wasser , Tee und Kaffee zur freien Verfügung. man kann am grossen Tisch oder im Aufenthaltsbereich auf dem Sofa Selbstgebrachtes essen. Es gab sogar ein kleines Geschenk und Transfer zum Bahnhof. Die Lage ist auch super, in der Nähe von Tramstation, in Gehdistanz zur grüner Insel und anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Es hat uns alles sehr gefallen! -

• Michael (10/5): - Die Pension liegt in ruhiger Lage in der Nähe des Hafenbeckens. Super gemütlich eingerichtet, wir haben uns perfekt wohlgefühlt. Die Gastgeber sind unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit, wir wurden morgens sogar zum ziemlich weit entfernten Fährterminal gefahren.

• Holly (10/5): Charming stay in the heart of historic Hakodate - Our hosts were wonderful! They were super friendly and welcoming, and happy to chat with us in Japanese despite our rough language skills. They drove us to the train station with our luggage when we checked out and even surprised us with a small gift. The Japanese style room was spacious, easy to make dark for sleeping and well temperature controlled, and the futons were comfortable. The upstairs lounge was nice for sitting and had hot water for tea and coffee. The whole house, especially the downstairs, was covered in unique and delightful decorations! Every surface had something charming, and the upstairs guest spaces had enough to delight but not so many that it interfered with using the space. The location is a bit far from Hakodate station, but in the middle of the historic downtown and walking distance from museums and sightseeing. The tram from Hakodate station is infrequent and stops earlier in the the evening than was convenient

• Steve XC (10/5): A fantastic place with friendly hosts, located in a great part of Hakodate. - The hosts were friendly and very accommodating. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious and incorporated a variety of traditional tastes. I had great conversations with the hosts who treated me like family, and the location was close to an interesting part of Hakodate which was easily walkable. I hope to return again!

• Evert (10/5): Echte Japanse gastvrijheid - Niet de onpersoonlijke hotels, maar Pension Jokura was onze favoriet tijdens onze reis door Japan. We werden zeer vriendelijk ontvangen door een bijzonder lief en betrokken echtpaar. Het pension is brandschoon en voorzien van alle gemakken. Het echtpaar denkt mee met moment van vertrek en de treintijden. We werden op de ochtend van vertrek zelfs naar het station gebracht door de eigenaar.

• 劉小貓 (10/5): 完美~ - 地理位置优越，非常容易找到。房子外观很漂亮，内饰风格独特，虽然房间不大，但所有物品都井然有序并且一尘不染。房主居住在一层，客人均在二层，相对隔离，私密性较好。屋内设施齐全，各项需求都能够及时得到满足。房主真诚热情，为我们在函馆的交通提供了非常大的帮助，感谢Jokura的住宿体验让我们此次旅程更加难忘！期待再次见面~ 无可挑剔！
