- Otelo (10/5): -

- Carla (10/5): Super central, antique furnishings. - Very convenient central location, easy to park nearby and short walk into the town centre. Pretty courtyard, rooms are nicely furnished in an antique style. Extensive breakfast. Antonio the host was very helpful.

- sara (9/5): - Beautiful and spacious bedroom. Excellent breakfast in the beautiful courtyard. Very central location. The host was very kind and gifted us with the most delicious tomatoes.
- gianni (8/5): - Location molto bella. Camera comoda e spaziosa.

- Anna (8/5): - The location was ideal, not far from the center. Breakfast served in the lovely courtyard. Also nice breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, croissants and eggs if you want on demand. Beautiful historical building. the room was OK but because of the profusion of wood and some outdated furniture it felt like a chalet in the winter :-)
Parking is not always easy: we had the chance to find each time some space available on the square next door.
- Eimantas (10/5): A very pleasant stay. - Very good location, very nice patio, authentic rooms. The accommodation is set in a former monastery. Very nice and friendly owner. Delicious breakfast. Very highly recommended! Everything was great!
- Massimo (8/5): -
- Filippo Bellinzoni (10/5): -
- Raluca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Owen (10/5): Amazing historic property in heart of amazing Sulmona - Charming glorious historic medieval monastery lovely rooms amazing breakfast very welcoming host. Sulmona a fantastic place ideal central location No hot water in the mornings alas
- Louise (10/5): Charming place to stay - Charming historic building
Lovely courtyatd
Tasreful bedroom
- Virginia (3/5): Great location. Lovely structure. More TLC needed to keep it - Breakfast was lovely. No one was there to let us in. We had to wait in the street for 30 minutes. The courtyard was very dirty. It looked there had been some event and there were dirty glasses and litter. Bathroom not acceptable shower scary.
- Thomas (9/5): wonderful getaway in the heart of Sulmona - Breakfast was fresh and good. Eggs made to order. no wifi in the room - that's known but not shared w/ guests, at least tell people - or offer them a wifi puk to have some connectivity
- Emanuele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Franck (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Full of character - The rooms are full of character, immaculately clean and contain everything you need.
The Manager was friendly, discreet and relaxed.
Breakfast, served outside was very good.
- Lorenzo (3/5): Poor - With the exception of my room, the place was nice. My room had no windows, the room itself was in a small attic, but the worst part was the smell of cigarette smoke in my room. It was unbearable. When I arrived and during the first part of my stay I was the only guest, and then I believe there were two other rooms occupied by other guests. I wonder if there were no other rooms available for me other than that one. I should have complained when I first saw the room.
- Annette (7/5): Medieval village stay - It’s in a great part of town as you can really soak up the atmosphere of being in a medieval village.
Breakfast (coffee, juice, fruit and pastries) in the courtyard was just lovely way to start the day.
Lovely host- so friendly and we got though English Italian language differences Air con not the best. No views from the velux windows and a few quirks of things not working as they should
- Judith (8/5): Lovely stay. Be prepared if visiting in JULY. - The location is perfect! The hotel is located on the main street where you can walk to all the shops, restaurants, churches, grocery store. The courtyard is beautiful and the breakfast service is just lovely. Eggs, toast, croissants, yogurt, fruit & caffe. Our room was located off of the courtyard. Please be prepared for steps and carrying your luggage up those steps. No elevator for elderly. Please be advised that if there is a function in the courtyard those can go until 1AM if you are sensitive to noise. It didn't bother us though. Rooms were spacious for 3 people. I would have given this hotel an excellent rating, but the air conditioning in our room was a BIG issue. When booking the room, I specifically booked it because of the location & air conditioning. My Mother is elderly so air conditioning is a must. The stairs posed a problem too, but she managed. I was asked to provide my estimated check in time which I did. When we showed up and the kind gentlemen checked us into our room it was like a oven! Not warm or hot...I mean a oven...like sitting in a sauna!! So unbearably HOT!!!! They did not start the air conditioning before our arrival so it took hours and hours to try and cool the rooms down. He started the air conditioning system, but was doing nothing. He then brought up 2 portable air conditioning machines to assist with the cooling system. We had to continuously fill the machine with cold water & ice packs. We were absolutely miserable and had to sleep naked to stay cool. We were super upset when we went out walking one of the days and when we returned someone turned off all of the air conditioning systems and the room returned to being unbearably hot! My Mother is elderly and was just so uncomfortable. We all were. We totally understand that electricity is expensive in Italy, but the hotel should provide that for guests no matter what. Turning it off while we were gone was unacceptable. It was truly miserable. Otherwise, the property was excellent. I just need to make other
customers aware of this in case you are visiting in July or are just sensitive to high temperatures and prefer your room to be cool.
- Owen (10/5): Gorgeous historic convent heart of historic centre beautiful rooms warm welcome excellent breakfast - Amazing historic property in medieval convent beautifully decorated rooms quiet right in the heart of beautiful Sulmona. Very friendly owner, superb breakfast in courtyard. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in - and exceptional value for money Everything perfect
- Laura (10/5): Perfect. Second time I’ve stayed there - Perfect location . Plenty of space to park car. All amenities around. No issues
- Danya (10/5): Amazing B&B, amazing location and amazing host, 10/10 - The kindest most accommodating and helpful host I have ever encountered. I felt like I made a friend. Beautiful location, fantastic breakfast. No notes
- Pierluca (10/5): Amazing stay. Very good value for money. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, amazing staff - The Location of the B&B is amazing, close to public and paid parking, really central to the town.
The staff was very welcoming, professional and nice.
The room was very warm, comfortable and had all the services.
Breakfast was amazing and plenty.
- Emanuele (9/5): Excellent place, comfortable beds, kind service. - Position and structure Did not find the fact that there were stairs written in the presentation, would have been important to know to people with accessibility problems.
- Susie (10/5): Antonio does everything he can to make the guests feel welcome. Everything was perfect ! - I loved the history of this building. The stairs have to be taken with caution, but were lovely.
- Giorgio (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (10/5): A Heavenly Retreat in the Heart of Sulmona - Our stay at Grancia dei Celestini in Sulmona, Italy, was a delightful blend of history, comfort, and exceptional breakfasts. This charming bed and breakfast captured our hearts with its enchanting location and rich historical significance.
The historical significance of Grancia dei Celestini added an extra layer of intrigue to our stay. Learning about its origins as a medieval granary and its transformation into a welcoming B&B was a fascinating experience. The preservation of its unique architecture and the incorporation of historical elements into the decor made our stay feel like a journey through time. However, we would have loved to see more detailed information about the building's history on display within the B&B.
Nestled in the heart of Sulmona, Grancia dei Celestini boasts an unbeatable location. Set against the backdrop of the stunning Apennine Mountains, this ancient monastery-turned-hotel offers a sense of serenity that is hard to find elsewhere. The cobblestone streets and historic buildings of Sulmona are right at your doorstep, making it the perfect base for exploring the town's rich history and culture. We found it incredibly convenient to explore Sulmona's attractions, shops, and restaurants, all within walking distance. We loved everything!
- Paul (10/5): Charming hotel - Historical small hotel with loads of charm, you really feel you’ve escaped the busy city life. The hosts were great too! We liked everything, really good value.
- Manuela (7/5): Good - Air conditioning was not turned on in anticipation of our arrival and the temp was 40 degrees Celsius…we wanted to sleep after much travel and we’re not feeling well with such high temps - plus we were in the highest room with additional heat.
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (10/5): Lovely accommodations! - Breakfast was devine with many options of fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, yogurt, made to order eggs, etc. Other meals and wine served were fabulous.
Owner is very accommodating and pleasant. Beautiful courtyard growing fresh herbs and flowers. Location is perfect! Very close to town center/piazza, but far enough to be very quiet and peaceful. Second time in Sulmona and second time staying here. We'll return over and over!
We stayed on second floor; there is no elevator. N/A
- Doreen (8/5): Very good -
- J (8/5): Monastry-B&B at the heart of Sulmona - Old monastry at the Corso Ovidio, the best place to be in Sulmona, and a very nice breakfast (the kind you'll rarely find getting into the south of Italy). Staff was nice but a bit unorganized.
- Lisa (8/5): spacious room In pedestrian area of Sulmona - great location and big rooms
nice courtyard difficult to communicate with the staff due to language barriers
- Anita (10/5): Lovely place in a lovely city - We were very happy to have picked Grancia dei Celestini for our 4 day stay in Sulmona. It is a lovely city and a good base to explore Abruzzen (although when we were here, there was lots of rainy weather and low hanging clouds so we could only see places below 900 meters).
Antonio is a good host. Our room (the large 2-room one at the front of the building, with balcony) was very clean, comfortable, and decorated with attention to period and detail.
Breakfast was served at the table and was ample - including freshly made eggs. As in many old buildings with thick walls, wifi reach is a challenge
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional - nice place, friendly host and good breakfast
- Hg (9/5): Superb -
- Dolores (9/5): this was a great stay. Antonio was a lovely host and mad us very welcome - clean , good location, great host wifi not working
- Gus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - The place is beautiful and the host is friendly and helpful.
- Svetlana (8/5): A comfortable stay in an ancient building full of heritage - The B&B is located in a very ancient building of a former monastery with the entrance in the cloister. The breakfast is served in a very beautiful and inspiring space. The breakfast was excellent as well as the dinner aperitif in the cloister. No items to report.
- Minna (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (9/5): Superb - Lovely staff. Very clean facilities. Good breakfast. Bed a bit basic.
- Luc (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (10/5): Antonio has bought an amazing place in this beautiful city back to life. Meravigliosa - Everything….the setting itself in the restored monastery, the location in Sulmona, fantastico Antonio, the interiors, the breakfast ….everything nothing
- Fabio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robeto (9/5): Superb -
- Pasquale (10/5): - Struttura molto bella, camere accoglienti e spaziose, proprietario disponibile e molto gentile, colazione gustosa
- Andrea (10/5): - Ospitale, comodo in centro, pulito, bello e confortevole; titolare molto disponibile. Ottima colazione.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice property and well located within the old town. Parking can be a bit of an issue but we managed to get a spot across the road which is free.
Frustratingly, the accommodation is advertised as having free Wifi, but at no point during our stay could we access it. They need to either get this sorted or remove it from the "amenities" list!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is well situated yet still private thanks to a private courtyard. It is a beautiful B&B, and super comfortable for a long or short stay in Sulmona.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Struttura veramente bella, location suggestiva, personale molto disponibile.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Edificio d'epoca ,bel chiostro,silenzioso seppure in centro
- Bob and Geraldine (10/5): Wonderful B&B in the Charming Historic District - We loved everything about Grancia dei Celestini and our week in beautiful, friendly Sulmona. We stayed in the room called La Badessa, the green room, which was charming, cozy, and comfortable. The B&B is a lovingly renovated former monastery and has a lovely courtyard for enjoying a glass of Abruzzo’s fabulous vino. Each morning, we enjoyed a substantial and delicious breakfast buffet, attended by our charming hostess who remembered our preferences and saw that every need was met. Dinner in the restaurant was beautifully prepared and leisurely. Despite our rudimentary ability with the Italian language, our host and all the staff were most gracious, generous and helpful. Grazie mille! We hope to see you again.
- George (10/5): Really nice B&B. - I was impressed that they let me leave a bag in storage when I visited another town for a week. Nice breakfast. Very nice lady in charge.
- anna luisa (10/5): Incantevole - Struttura incantevole! Personale gentilissimo. Colazione abbondante e varia. Ci ritornerò sicuramente
- Moe (10/5): Charming little hotel! - We stayed here for one night for friends' wedding. The hotel used to be a monastery and is very charming . They have a small cute courtyard. The staff spoke very little English but they were friendly and nice. The breakfast was really good too, they made us eggs and cappuccino. We'll be happy to stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ottima silenzioso suggestivo accessibile giusto prezzo
- Verified traveler (4/5): The staff let us down - When we walked into the hotel's courtyard we expected that we would give this hotel a high rating. After a long day of driving and some difficulty with the car's GPS we were frustrated and tired. Getting off of the busy street and into the hotel's courtyard was like an oasis. We asked if there was a close by restaurant at which we could lunch and were told that everything was closed. The hotel was planning for a party to be held that evening and offered as drinks and a nice plate of appetizers. The manager/owner? then told us about the party that would commence at 8 and last until midnight explaining that there would be music and might get loud. We told him that would be fine though we were unclear about why that had not been stated when we booked. The party did go from 8 until midnight. There was loud music, but nothing excessive. The primary problem was the internet. It worked perfectly for an hour and never worked again. It was to be fixed the next day and then the next day and then the next day. It never was fixed. We had extended our stay one night and had to pay for that night when we checked out. The woman in the office told us that she could not accept our credit card because without internet access she could not process it. She then asked us what the cost was for the additional night. We told her what we had paid for the previous nights and the argument began: first to try to agree on the cost for the additional night and then how to convert the pric
- Jeannie (10/5): Lovely B&B in Sulmona, Italy - This was our 2nd stay here. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Location is within walking distance to the shops and piazza. Breakfast was included and was the best selection of food we experienced in our 14 days in Italy. Breakfast area was beautiful with white tablecloths and linens. Made us feel very special.
