Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): Highly recommended - Amazing location, clean, beautifully decorated and stocked with extras to meet every guest's needs
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): An enjoyable experience in a lovely small town and hotel. - The room clean and spacious. Unlike chain hotels, the towels and washcloths were substantial and a good quality which we very much appreciated. Other reviews mentioned some concerns with noise due to being in the heart of town. However, during our stay in a Saturday night, we didn’t find it to be noisy at all. The location is walkable to shops, churches, and restaurants.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Lovely venue in historic Culpeper. - Perfect location, and everything was really comfortable in the room. Being in an old building, the floors were amazingly creaky. Not a problem for the first one up.
- Jonathan (10/5): Suites at 249 is now our go to in Culpepper. - Room was very nice. Every detail was perfect . Bed was super comfortable. Linens were high end quality. Very luxurious bathroom with shower that has a steamer. Perfect location in the heart of downtown. You can walk to everything . Nothing . It was perfect for our trip
- Chloe (9/5): -
- Veronika (9/5): Great location and big space - Location, cleanness, balcony The cleaning lady woke us up on the morning of the check out when they could just wait until after 11am to do the cleaning.
- BRETT (10/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): My two sisters and I enjoyed our stay very much. We wished we could have stayed longer! - The property was beautiful. The location was perfect. Very clean and quiet. All the amenities were exceptional. The two reserved parking spaces was a plus! Everything was extremely satisfactory.
- Pablo (9/5): -
- Darin (9/5): -
- Charles (9/5): Very inspiring. If you want to be put in creative frame of mind this is the place to be. - Great location... next to train station. The staff were so kind and helpful. Great in room coffee. I wish they would have told us about the farmers market next door on Saturday. We parked on the street and the police roped off the area to the front and back of our car. When we noticed we immediately moved our car. The police were very friendly and did not give us a ticket. In fact, they gave us a warm welcome to Culpepper.
- Linda (10/5): If we ever travel through Culpeper again we would most definitely stay there again. - Location walkable to everything, room was clean and comfortable. Maybe the soap and shampoo could be upgraded
- Chris (10/5): Looking forward to coming back again!!!! - Everything was great. The town is quaint and exceptional N/a
- Freda (1/5): Will not stay here again - I sent an email No hot water/ no response
- Amrhein (10/5): A very fun, comfortable place to stay in the center of Culpeper. - The room was beautiful and comfortable. We really enjoyed it's upscale look (stone floors, beautiful bed....), large TV and comfortable chairs. The room was also quiet. The room was missing the TV remote with which to stream. They had instructions on how to use the second TV remote but it was not in the room. I tried to communicate this with the staff but never heard back.
- Joshua (6/5): Nice room, too bad the fireplace didn't work as advertised. - Very nice rooms in probably the best location in town. The main draw for a winter getaway to this particular hotel was the fireplace. However, the fireplace didn't work and despite instructions for contacting staff, we got no reply until the day after we'd checked out. I would not recommend staying in unstaffed hotels for this reason.
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Katrina (10/5): We have stayed here several times and love everything about the room, location, and staff! - Everything! Nothing.
- Paula (10/5): - Very clean, thoughtful furnishing and travel extras, and great walkable location! A little pricey, but overall worth it for the great experience!
- Susan (9/5): Convenient location in downtown Culpeper. - Excellent location. Beautiful room. The toilet was quite slow to refill. The hand soap was dry and crumbly.
- Vincent (9/5): -
- Michael (8/5): - Nice, convenient, but lawn equipment in the area got loud at 730 am
- Janet (10/5): Favorite boutique hotel…favorite room! -
- David (8/5): - Spacious suite and situated along a nice street with food and shopping. Parking spot included with sole suite
- Diane (10/5): - Right across street from train station. everything was so walkable. Place was clean and quiet. Never saw any staff so can't address that.
- Maurice (10/5): Great hotel with plenty of space and close to everything. - Clean, comfy, spacious, walking distance to everything Walls seem a little thin as you can hear people walking in the hallway and up steps, but it’s not bad
- Alan (10/5): Great stay in downtown Culpeper. - The location in downtown Culpeper was excellent. Parking was no problem. Lots of very good restaurants within walking distance. Really like the code for all the doors, no keys! Bed was very comfortable. Chairs in room very comfortable. Bath and shower were amazing. The old building is beautiful. Provide a few more waters every day.
- Eric (10/5): - Wonderful location, beautiful, clean room. Thank you!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - It was the perfect location downtown in the middle of all of the action. It was a beautiful room. Very comfortable very reasonable rate I guess the only thing I can say is parking of course we were there during the Harry Potter festival so they were a lot of people. And not having it like guarantee parking that's the only downfall
- Karen (10/5): - The property is within walking distance of trstaurantd.tresti
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): - Fabulous place! Will stay again!
- Terrill (10/5): - The property inside was very "artsy"...tons of character.. and beautiful updated appointments.
- Michele (10/5): Suites at 249 we’re comfortable and in a prime location. - Our suite was spacious and clean. We were in a prime location, walkable to many places. Mattress was the most comfortable, even better than ours at home. Staff, when we saw them, were kind and caring. There was no grab bar in the very large shower! I’d suggest this improvement for all showers.
- Rebecca (10/5): Wonderful Stay in the Sole Suite - My Daughter and I really enjoy our stay in the Sole Suite.
Everything was handled professionally beginning with the text and email notification which answered all our questions in advance of our arrival. The location and amenities were everything we could have wanted and then some.
Thank-you for putting so much care into designing and stocking your suites!
- Cabral (10/5): Terra Suite - It was exceptionally clean and welcoming. The room was beautiful and every detail was well thought through. Location was excellent - so close to downtown and the balcony was shaded and clean There was nothing that I didn’t like.
- Debra (10/5): - We stayed here with other family members. We had 4 of the 6 rooms. Each one of them was unique and very well decorated. One thing to note is when booking the second floor there are 22 stairs straight up!
- Yu (10/5): - Great hotel, fun and comfortable room to stay on
- Frank (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay! Would book again when I return to the area!
- Henry (9/5): Excellent choice in downtown Culpeper - Great location, room large and clean and well furnished.
- Barbara (10/5): LOVE is just outside! - Super easy check in. Large, comfy room. I did notice that the one window needs to be sealed at the bottom. There is a small gap in the frame which would affect heat loss/AC loss but that’s more for energy awareness.
The shower worked great and was nice and hot.
People coming in at night were noisy, but that’s nothing unusual. Some reminder signs referencing quiet protocol for guests might help. The AC system acted like a rain machine and it helped to mask the noise.
Convenient places to eat. There is a local bakery a block away that has fresh baked donuts at a very reasonable price. And so delicious.
Ice cream store just a few buildings away plus 2 breweries and several restaurants. All within walking distance.
Definitely a real gem in Culpeper.
- Kristina (8/5): - This was in general a great stay. The rooms are huge and cozy. The fireplace is a really nice touch as is the outdoor balcony. The bathrooms are huge and the shower is amazing. The place could not be better located - right in the middle of downtown and a stone’s throw from the train station. I deducted a star because the checkout time on Expedia and on the sign on the back of the door said 12 but I was rudely ushered out of my room a little after 11 this morning by the cleaning staff who told me checkout was 11 according to the email. I think they need to revise their checkout time both on Expedia and on their signs in the rooms to avoid future confusion. Other than that the stay was great.
- Sara (9/5): Superb - We had a nice stay at your hotel. If I could ask for more, I would like a few snacks for the evening and early morning.
- Kathryn (10/5): Great location, town has great shopping and dining and fun to walk around, beautiful room and balcon -
- Neil (10/5): - Good location for dining options.
- Brenda (10/5): - What a beautiful room, super comfy bed and huge bathroom!!! Absolutely fabulous and sparkling clean!
- Brian (10/5): A+++ - This boutique hotel is a gem. Perfect location and lovely touches, including a coffee bar and gas fireplace. Highly recommend and will definitely return!
- Angel (10/5): - Gorgeous room. Everything was immaculate and perfect. And it was quieter than I expected. There was an event the day we were there, and really couldn't hear anything but distant music. Lovely.
- Stuart (10/5): - Lovely property, great communication from management.
- Shifflett (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and relaxing. NA
- Sheryl (10/5): - This was a charming and very comfortable place to stay. The brewery is across the street and we thoroughly enjoyed being in town so we could shop and enjoy the local restaurants.
- Kelsie (9/5): We loved the stay and plan to come back. The room was so nice and the location was perfect. - The room was so clean and spacious and the location was perfect. The fireplace in the room was as so cozy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and my husband and I usually don’t sleep in, but we didn’t want to get out of the bed. The toiletries provided were also nice. Parking was a little weird and when I followed the links provided for seeing a parking map they wouldn’t load.
- James (10/5): Play so good. I don’t wanna tell nobody about it.lol - Everything Nothing
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - everything, definitely stay there again
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional - Location to all store's, food and Wineries in every direction. central location Super comfortable beds and bathrooms. A cross between small town and Bigger one,
- Patricia (9/5): Large but cozy, big beds, high ceilings, and lots of brick! - Lovely modern renovation of an old building. We've stayed in 2 or 3 different rooms. All of them were spacious and well-equipped. We prefer rooms on the second level but first level was also fine. Nothing comes to mind.
- Scotty (10/5): Very nice stay! - The hotel and room were very nice! Nice decor and comfortable bed, and the hotel was conveniently located to nice restaurants and a local coffee shop.
- Mark (8/5): Nice place to stay in central Culpeper - Very large suite in lower level of older building. Separate entrance off of back parking lot. Two reserved parking spaces right near back door made it very convenient. Did I mention how large the suite is? Nicely renovated, very large modern bathroom. Painted concrete floor with throw rugs, so bring slippers. Great location at the end of Davis Street so we could easily walk out and enjoy the nice stores, fun restaurants. Next to the historic visitor center and museum.
- Annie__lou (9/5): A delightful suite in downtown Culpeper. - The suite was large and cheerful. In downtown Culpeper, it was convenient to restaurants, pubs and shops. While no parking was designated for the hotel, we had no issues finding a parking spot (of course, it was November). And of course, it was clean. While being downtown made it a favorable location, it also made it not so ideal. You can see the train station from the window (our suite) and you have the party goers that may not be too quiet out when you would prefer to sleep. Other than a freight train at a decent hour, we didn't have the issue, but we stayed only one night. If you are a light sleeper, this might factor into your decision.
- Gail (10/5): - We had a little trouble with the TV, but overall it was a great place to stay. We would recommend it and would come back again. We loved the how it is decorated! This is not your basic hotel room.
- Isabelle (10/5): - A gem. Tastefully decorated and well equipped. I would highly recommend it.
- Tia (10/5): - I loved staying at this unique hotel. The staff was super friendly, the room was spacious and immaculately clean. There’s a great coffee shops just a few doors down. Also, the bathroom had a steam shower which was amazing.
- Jason (10/5): Excellent location, stylish, easy parking, beautiful room. - Beautifully decorated with a fabulous bathroom Nothing it was all great. One improvement if it had two showerheads in the huge shower. But there are no complaints
- Dennis (10/5): We have stayed at their properties In Culpeper 6-8 times while visiting family. Suites @ 249 is the one we like best. - Great location on Davis Street in Culpeper. Close to everything. Nothing.
- Gregg (8/5): Lovely boutique hotel. - A pretty good stay! Liked the location right in the heart of town, exceptionally clean and attractive, spacious and roomy, huge shower and bathroom sinks, available coffee in room, response time of manager when the fireplace didn’t work (likely the gas was shut off for the summertime), parking options pretty good right outside of the door. Bed had a huge lump in the middle but still comfy, light on the magnifying bathroom mirror didn’t work, TV was fussy. Nothing to do with the hotel, but what we didn’t know was that most of the shops and restaurants in the town of Culpeper shut down on Mondays, so with really bad weather, there was really not much to do.
- Rene (9/5): Superb - Beautiful large room, two chairs to sit comfortably, coffee/tea machine with cups and bags enough, tv with different apps, gas fireplace, large bathroom with a double sink, walk around shower, lots of towels, more than enough soaps etc, nothing was missing. Nothing, but maybe that was also partly because there was nobody else in any appartment which made it very quite.
- Kym (10/5): - A wonderful room (within a larger facility) in a charming corner of downtown Culpeper. Beautiful bathroom. Gas fireplace. We enjoyed our stay there!
- DAVID (10/5): - Loved it
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful room, great shower, coffee choices, closeness to everything. The only thing that was lacking was our room wasn't cleaned and towels weren't replaced during our stay. We figured maybe someone didn't show up for a shift due to illness or something.
- Jacob (9/5): Superb -
- Lisanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joslyn (10/5): Exceptional - Really liked the convenient assigned parking space, hassle free check in with access code. Suite was very spacious, nicely decorated and amenities were great. No complaints - we had a great stay and would book again.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good -
- Kaelyn (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (10/5): - The property and room were beautiful, and in a cool little downtown spot.
- The (10/5): Wonderful, clean apartment with many perks. - Wonderful room with a pleasant, clean setting. The owners did great in converting this property to a hotel. Can not think of anything at this time.
- Shelly (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Suite, Great Location - This was an absolutely beautiful suite and large. It has a private patio and 2 reserved parking spaces. A few steps from the restaurants and stores..
- Brittany (10/5): - I was in town photographing a wedding and this place was half hr away it is possibly one of the nicest fairly priced places I have stayed at! Definitely recommend and will be back for sure!
- Hugo (10/5): Great stay overall - Large, comfortable room in downtown within walking distance to restaurants and the train station. Great location for taking the train to DC for sightseeing. Only that the floor was creaky
- Delores (10/5): - Awesome !
- Joseph (10/5): - Great location that is right downtown. Rooms were the perfect size (not crammed) while the bathroom was large and functional. Great place to stay.
- Pamela (9/5): Comfortable bed on the best street in town - Culpeper is a surprisingly adorable town, and 249 suites are on the best street of all: Davis Street. Of all the places that I stayed during a four-week vacation, this was the best bed of any rental property. It was supportive yet soft, with great pillows. The room was gorgeous; it even had a fireplace. The shower was huge and lots of fluffy towels as well as a bathrobe. The binder with helpful instructions was so nicely done; it included plenty of advice for nearby dining options. I enjoyed dinner at Piedmont Steakhouse in the evening, and visited Raven's Nest for cappuccino the next morning. It was a good rest before flying home.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - My wife and I come here once a year as it's where we got married at and the hotel we stayed in on our wedding night. It's in a great location by the ravens nest coffee shop she loves. So many restaurants in walking distance and the shower is amazing. Every stay has been nothing short of great. I highly recommend anyone to stay here if you're visiting the culpeper area.
- Victor (10/5): - The Suites at 249 was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I was blown away by the decor of the Violetta suite, which was exactly my taste. I didn’t expect such a modern and updated venue to be in historic Culpepper. Parking was easy and it seemed to be in an ideal location even though I was there for only one night.
- Brian (2/5): Don't Ever Stay Here - Don't ever stay there. Buried deep in their website you find out there is no front desk, no people, no help, no nothing, no elevator, and stairs so steep you have to be a youngster to climb. No parking whatsoever. NO NOTHING, but a room. No ice, no coffee, no help, nobody. Someone would have to be a fool to stay there. I mean you might as well bring a tent and camp out.
- Klara (10/5): Exceptional - Our favorite place to stay in Culpeper Everything is wonderful
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erin (8/5): - Good location. Clean room. Comfy bed. Easy to access.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeff (10/5): Looking for a Great Stay within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. This is it ! - contact less check in, located within walking distance to food shopping, markets and etc.
Rooms were very large and bathrooms were super nice. private balcony and remote HVAC.
- Curtis (10/5): amazing stay every time! - very clean and comfortable.
- Harry (10/5): - Perfect for a weekend getaway, the suite was beautiful, walking distance to everything, quiet, and romantic. As toddler parents, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for families, though it would be fine, but it was perfect for the two of us to get away.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anita (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Mid week stay - Great spot to stay in downtown Culpeper. The Verde Suite was well appointed and very comfortable. Spotless. My only complaint was a strong smell of bleach when we entered the room, but it dissipated quickly. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the big windows looking out on the street. Very quiet at night.
