Guest Reviews
- 839chipg (10/5): Charming - Charming Bed & Breakfast! The owner has thought of everything, and it was tastefully decorated for the holidays. Breakfast was delicious!
- Porscha (8/5): - Amazing stay
- Traci (10/5): - It was a lovely stay. We went for our anniversary. They had champagne in our bedroom for us, the breakfast was excellent and so many fresh ingredients. The beds were comfy the whole atmosphere was very inviting.
- Sharon (10/5): - This is an absolute beautiful place to stay!
I cannot put into words what an awesome place this is!!
The Innkeeper and owner, Brigitte Butz will make your stay so enjoyable.
And Brigitt's morning breakfast.... Delicious!!!
- longmayyourun (10/5): An Oasis offering Comfort, Calm and Hospitality - We and our friends had not returned to Charlottesville together (from NJ and TN) in 18 years! When we were contemplating where we would stay, I reminded our friends how they had raved about the Foxfield Inn when attending our reunion in 2007. We wanted to try it out and our friends wanted to take a trip down memory lane. What a fantastic decision!
From the comprehensive tour Brigitte offered upon our arrival, to the pristine, spacious and comfortable rooms, to the beautiful wooded property, the incredible breakfasts and generous snack area with fridge, coffee and tea......she has thought of everything. This is not a sterile, typical, cookie cutter accommodation. The four of us have traveled domestically and internationally for work and pleasure and Foxfield felt like home....except we didn't have to do any of the work involved when having houseguests. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!!
Touches that I will not forget:
1) We especially enjoyed sitting on the patio with special wines we had brought with us for a happy hour each night, before leaving for dinner.
2) A charger available for our car! Tesla and non-Tesla chargers are on site!
3) Such amazing thoughtfulness in dealing with my celiac disease dietary restrictions. Not only did every breakfast include substitutions that were lovely and delicious, but Brigitte had baked gluten-free cookies that she left in our room, as at the snack area, there were cookies I could not enjoy. (They were among the most delicious cookies I have ever eaten, by the way). This hospitality was just so touching, when I am accustomed to 'doing without' wherever we go. Thank you, Brigitte!
4) The website is one of the best I have seen for lodging. It is very thorough and allowed us to ask Brigitte the right questions about where we wanted to take 'nature walks'. We recommend the very convenient Ivy Creek area! It is historical and peaceful and 10 minutes away.
5) We did not use the fire pit or hot tub, but how amazing to have them at our disposal.
6) The large bathtub with jets. A wonderful touch and so rare.
7) Brigitte sharing the GF cookie recipe!
- 76marcir (10/5): Another wonderful stay - This is our second stay at Foxfield Inn for a family event and everything was just as wonderful this time as two years ago. Brigitte is the penultimate hostess. Everything from inquiring of our comfort to her fabulous breakfasts was just as delightful this year as our prior stay. Highly recommend!
- Axel R (10/5): - ..
- PuzzleSolver855 (10/5): Gorgeous property, both rooms and public spaces - We went with friends so it was important to have places we could gather to visit, this place had that in spades! We sipped pre-breakfast coffee in the stunning living room with a fire burning and we drank wine with snacks in the gazebo one evening in lieu of going out to dinner. The only caveat is that there are very limited spaces to go for a walk but you can go out to the back of the property to visit with the sheep on the adjacent farm and maybe catch the sunrise above the trees. Our host was so gracious, breakfast was large and very enjoyable and appealed to all. She has coffee, snacks and soda stocked in the hall, a hot tub for those who want to indulge and everything in our room was beautiful. It was just perfect and a short drive to the Downtown mall in Charlottesville for dinner one night. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you
- SCOTT (10/5): - Very nice and quite place. Would highly recommend
- Frank (10/5): - Great service, accommodations, attention to details, a wonderful breakfast.
- john (10/5): - Brigitte was a superb hostess . Her home is beautiful, surrounded by farmland with sheep and horses..It is only a short drive into Charlottesville and it's many excellent restaurants. She has two electric vehicle chargers for guests as well. Finally, her breakfast was delicious and she accommodated my food allergy (gluten) with grace
- Susan (10/5): - A lovely place! Brigette is a sweet lady who knows how to run a wonderful B&B! Her home is spotless and so simply and beautifully decorated. The land the home is on has beautiful trees. The best part of it all was the breakfast. Regretfully, we could only stay 1 night so we only got to experience it once. It started with a slightly sweet raspberry, blueberry, and green apple fruit salad, lightly sweetened with maple syrup. It didn’t taste like syrup but made the fruit slightly sweet. Next, we had seasoned potatoes, and a mini, quiche-like (no crust) preparation that had thinly sliced turkey on the outside with a Gouda cheese, egg, sweet cherry tomatoes with pesto on top creation, baked to perfection. Last we were given a triangle-shaped cherry oatmeal bar that was to die for! I wanted the rest of it! Our experience was memorable, down to the sweet fragrance of the bath salts given to us! If/when we ever pass this way again, we will hope to stay with her again! Thank you, Brigette!
- Jeff (10/5): - Brigette was an awesome host! Her place was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The morning breakfasts were outstanding! Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
- Thomas (10/5): - Our host, Brigitte, was so friendly and accommodating! And the location is so great especially if you’re out for winery touring!
- Thomas (10/5): - Will stay there again.
- Joan (10/5): - Beautiful property - lovely suites and cozy common areas - host is gracious and food is wonderful. Right in the heart of C-ville wine country. Highly recommend.
- Shelley (10/5): - Really wonderful bed and breakfast!! Highly recommend!!
- tpops58 (10/5): Couples Retreat - Brigitte was an excellent hostess. A great getaway in a beautiful area just outside Charlottesville. The room, ambience, and food were very good. We were close to town and very easy commute to vineyards. Highly recommend for a couples retreat.
- O1456ZVdane (10/5): Birthday Celebration Get Away - Our stay at Fairfield Inn was peaceful, relaxing and refreshing. The breakfast both mornings was amazing! The room was fabulous, a great get away for us. Brigitte and her staff was very friendly and available to help us with recommending restaurants and sightseeing destinations. We highly recommend the Fairfield Inn!
- paulnd2016 (10/5): Hidden Treasure - My wife and I visited Foxfield Inn with some friends. We had a wonderful stay in this comfy Inn. Rooms with fireplaces were delightful. This was a quiet retreat. Living room, dining room coffe coffee bar were very comfortable and convenient. Breakfast was light and delicious. The inn was convenient to Motechello, shopping, UVA and many dinner options. The innkeeper is a true joy to get to know. We will definitely stay here again.
- Stephen (10/5): A hideaway - Very nice property with a great owner. Breakfast was an experience in itself and very delicious.
- Adventurer402420 (10/5): Wonderful, peaceful getaway. - Wonderful and peaceful place to stay. Nice room, great breakfast and staff are warm and friendly. Near Charlottesville and cute town of Crozet. The grounds are so pretty and give a feeling of calm. There is a hot tub on grounds to relax in. We will be back for sure.
- racheljF6607BF (10/5): Fabulous place - What a wonderful place in a beautiful setting. The rooms are lovely, we stayed in The Garden Room. Brigitte is the perfect host. Her attention to detail is second to none. There is an area where you can help yourselves to hot and cold drinks and delicious homemade cookies and other snacks. The rooms are well equipped and the sheets are so soft. The breakfasts are absolutely fabulous. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here.
- Karin1952 (10/5): Warm, welcoming and relaxing! - At the risk of being redundant with all the other positive reviews, let me endorse what others have said first! My husband and I spent three nights with Brigitte in her extremely well maintained and thoughtfully conceived B & B where she offers not only heavenly breakfasts, ample soft drinks, coffee, bottled water, homemade cookies, and ICE (!), but also seems to have considered even tiny conveniences in the well decorated bedrooms such as a white noise machine which was not needed, well placed wall plugs, extra towels, and soft rugs. Brigitte was a delightful hostess who clearly enjoyed engaging with her guests and made every effort to be helpful, informative, and interested in each of us. Bailey, her breakfast assistant, was equally charming, attentive, and good natured. The gazebo in the back provided a mosquito-free oasis where I read for hours. When we brought back a delicious lasagna dinner, Brigitte was kind enough to set a table with dinner plates, glasses and utensils for us, making this perhaps the best dinner of the weekend. The Inn is located in a gorgeous area about 8 miles west of Charlottesville with rolling pastures, horses, long horned steer (!), deer, and mountain views. You can get to the Charlottesville historic district within an easy 15 minute drive for dinner. We have visited Charlottesville several times but from now on, we will only stay at the Fairfield Inn! Most highly recommended!
- clineax (10/5): Little Piece of Heaven, Found in Charlottesville - I can’t say enough good things about our stay at the Foxfield Inn! Peaceful atmosphere, the hot tub was clean and comfortable, grounds were inviting for you to just enjoy a nice walk. The pond was beautiful filled with small goldfish, and a few little frogs hidden among the lush green plants. Everything there was peaceful and no attention to detail was missed. Cookies were out every afternoon, and thumbprint ones were my personal favorite. Our room was very spacious, clean, quiet, the bed was comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was the perfect ending to a busy day, and the bathroom itself was of good size. Certainly not to be forgotten was the incredible breakfast each morning that was prepared and served by the inn owner herself. From fruit cups, homemade muffins, lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes, Foxfield eggs, puffed pastries with meat, vegetables, and cheese, then the tarts…. sorbet, oh my gosh the food was some of best we’ve ever eaten. Our favorite B&B by far, second to none! We certainly enjoyed our stay, and can’t wait to return!!
- F9976PZstephaniel (10/5): We’ll go back - Our first time here - and it was lovely. We stayed in the hunt room which is spacious with ample seating. A variety of common areas both indoor and out. Brigette is a lovely host - accommodating and helpful. We went to The King Family winery for dinner - wine tasting with outdoor seating and food trucks - much fun about 20 minutes from the inn.
- johncC9549YI (10/5): A little paradise in Virginia! - Every now and again you come across a real gem of an Inn and this is definitely one of them! We have staying in Inns all across Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia on many occasions from the UK and this stands out as a one of the best we have ever stayed in. The magic combination of a sumptuous Inn and a truly wonderful owner is a rare beast but we cannot find fault with anything about our stay other than to say that 4 nights was not long enough. There is so much to do in the area and the luxury of coming back to this Inn at the end of each day was something we both looked forward to. The beautiful rooms and 3 acres of gardens ticked all the boxes and the breakfasts were BY FAR the best we have ever had in America. We shall remember our visit for many years to come and shall definately stay here again when we are in the area. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
- RayLee23 (8/5): Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast with Class - Very calm and peaceful. The owner and staff are very polite and friendly. The room and grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic and the backyard gardens are lovely. The inn in located less than 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, but it is still peaceful and isolated from the noise of the city.
- mgjack81 (10/5): Delicious breakfast! - We enjoyed our anniversary weekend at Foxfield Inn. We have stayed at many B&B’s and they had one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had. We enjoyed eating our breakfast by the pond and watching the frogs and birds. The Audubon room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub. The kitchenette in the common area was a nice touch with snacks, tea, and coffee. The location is perfect-a little outside Charlottesville but easy to get everywhere. We will stay here again the next time we are in town!
- juliemQ9558YE (10/5): Virginia Country Inn of your dreams - I cannot say enough about the excellence of the Foxfield Inn. The beauty of the surroundings and the absolute cleanliness and comfort of the Inn turned this 5 night stay into a retreat for me. The room I stayed in had all the comforts I could have asked for. The InnKeeper is so personable, kind and welcoming and she provided absolutely everything that I could have hoped for, including the delicious gourmet breakfasts. The setting and furnishings are exquisite and I will make a point of returning here soon.
- CarlyMegsMom (10/5): Glad to Finally Visit! - I had bookmarked Foxfield Inn five years ago as a place I wanted to visit. For my 60th birthday, we booked 2 nights and had great weather to explore Shenandoah National Park and some local wineries. We chose the Rose room which was lovely with a comfortable King bed, gas fireplace and jetted tub for 2 people. We enjoyed the hot tub and the grounds There were wine glasses in the room as well as water glasses, Robes and slippers also! In the common kitchenette were plastic glasses to use outside, a small fridge and home made cookies, fruit and drinks. Just a first class experience. A group of family/friends booking several rooms will find plenty of common area space to socialize. Brigette and her team provided excellent service and a delicious breakfast, and we look forward to returning in the future!
- R336OFhannahv (10/5): Cozy and relaxing - great stay! - We stayed at Foxfield Inn for our honeymoon and had a wonderful, relaxing time. We can't wait to go back! The Garden Room was beautiful, clean, cozy and quiet. The bed was comfortable and the sheets in particular were super soft. We felt so welcomed and looked after our entire stay. The breakfasts each morning were decadent and delicious. Loved having a little coffee and snack nook. The property was quiet and beautiful. Loved having a hot tub to soak in! It was such a wonderful spot, being so close to great hikes and delicious meals in Charlottesville but we loved being away from the center of everything for a few days so we could relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.
- joannetU2244JE (10/5): Comfortable stay at a not so happy time in our life. - Stayed here on a trip to attend a Memorial Service for our Brother in Law. Brigette was a wonderful Innkeeper and her breakfasts were fabulous! On our last night, I became ill, and she was available to help me. Her compassion was heartwarming. The Inn, itself, was very clean, and our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view of the back of the property. The bed was comfy and perfect as were the pillows. We would definitely stay here again.
- queenmarylou (10/5): Birthday Celebration - We have been to many B & Bs all over the world and this is one of the best. It is beautifully appointed, cozy, comfortable and very relaxing. Brigette has thought of every amenity that would make this a perfect retreat. And the breakfasts are nothing short of five star amazing. Along with Elizabeth, Brigette serves coffee, juice, breakfast cake, fruit and a dazzling entree every day. A spectacular stay!!
- brittanyfN6515MK (10/5): Highly Recommend! - WOW! That’s all I can say about Brigitte & her wonderful staff. We stayed here for 4 nights & it was hard to leave. From the beautifully immaculate rooms to the world class food, I wouldn’t change a thing about our stay. The location was perfect for all the activities we wanted to do. Close proximity to downtown Charlottesville, plenty of vineyards, & about a 20 minute drive to Monticello. Uber was very easy & always accessible. Everyone was always smiling & so accommodating. The rooms were very clean & spacious. The breakfast blew my mind. Every morning was something new & packed with flavor. Again, I can’t recommend this Inn enough. We can’t wait to come back!
- Z3949SWkeithm (10/5): This Inn cannot be improved! - My wife and I stayed in the Audubon Room for two nights Dec 19 and 20, 2023. As a consultant I'm always looking for ways to improve things, but I cannot find any way to improve on the Foxfield Inn under Brigette's ownership and management. Simply put, every detail that you would want in a romantic Inn is there. Comfortable bed, pillows and linens, thoughtful touches, very clean, an in-room jacuzzi, fireplace, and the best breakfast (Thanks Elisabeth) we have ever had at an inn. We did not use the outside hot tub, but the grounds were inviting even in winter. OK, OK, for those requiring an in-room TV this is not for you (only in a common area), but we found it unnecessary. It's in a country setting about 3-4 miles outside of Charlottesville...quiet and tranquil. Brigette has thought of everything. Thank you, Brigette for a wonderful getaway!

- amartinez6 (10/5): Romantic Getaway to Monticello Winetrail - Excellent weekend/anniversary getaway! Brigitte was exceedingly hospitable and friendly, and a marvelous cook! The accommodations were clean and comfortable and quaint, as well as festive. The garden and grounds were gorgeous. We didn’t take advantage of the outside firepit or hot tub as the fireplace in our room was too charming and cozy to venture out during the rainy weather. The location was convenient to visit nearby wineries and wasn’t far from downtown Charlottesville. Highly recommend!
- Judith (10/5): - Huge well appointed room. Incredible breakfast. Host was very accommodating to guest needs, as many of us had to be up early for UVA graduation. She made to-go breakfasts for everyone with fresh muffins, yogurt, fresh cut fruit. Lovely overall experience. Nice not to be in the center of town near Grounds. Very easy access when you do.
- Phillip (10/5): - Excellent. We'll definitely go back to stay again. Beautiful house and beautiful grounds. The breakfast was amazing.
- Jennifer (10/5): - The property was lovely—very well managed and decorated. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed. In addition, the grounds were inviting and nicely kept.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Lovely inn. Wonderful welcome and service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - they had a pond gazebo and jacuzzi. we watched the birds while having breakfast

- Beverley (10/5): - We loved so much about this property and the hosts! The large rooms, expansive views of the yard, the lovely owners, and the gourmet breakfast...
They offered to make dinner reservations for us and to acquire admission tickets for nearby Monticello. We highly recommend the Foxfield Inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A perfect spot to stay that allowed easy access to both Shenandoah National Park and Charlottesville.
- Melissa (10/5): Just an amazing place on every level. - This place is just outstanding. We arrived in a thunderstorm, having been hiking in Shenandoah for 2 days. The innkeepers offered us a glass of wine, a dinner recommendation, and pleasant conversation. Our room was just beautiful: big, well-decorated, comfortable bed, gas fireplace, huge bathroom. We can't say enough about the Foxfield Inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners of this inn are amazing. The most friendly people. They even sent something back to us that we forgot.
- Joseph (10/5): Great stay - Katherine and Dan were superb hosts. Super clean; great room and beautiful neighborhood. Their breakfast was very good. We had to leave early on a visit to Montecello and Katherine and Dan started their breakfast service early to accommodate our schedule. Definitely a place we would highly recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely setting! I was in C'Ville for a Parents' weekend so the distance was a little challenging ( 10 minutes in an Uber from UVA), but so much about the property was great from the impeccable property itself to the delicious breakfast prepared for you in the morning. I wish I had more time to spend there, and to explore the surrounding area which is just stunning (horse farms abound!). Kathryn and Dan were very friendly and clearly take a great deal of pride in their property. I will return at some point when I have more time to spend there. Thank you :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a magical weekend at The Foxfield Inn. The setting is gorgeous with such tasteful attention to detail. The linen is heavenly and the breakfast to die for. Saturday night we relaxed in the hot tub and returned back home feeling rested and pampered. Thank you for a lovey weekend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The epitome of Southern hospitality! Fantastic breakfasts, friendly and welcoming owners, a beautiful estate, and great conversation among guests made for a wonderful stay. Also, if you're a wine and/or beer enthusiast, this area is loaded with great spots (Barboursville Vineyards was my favorite). Great historical spots such as Monticello as well. We will make it a point to come back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful & peaceful setting, gourmet breakfasts, and a comfortable bed with a lovely view of the garden & gazebo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful, well-desigbed property. Hosts are cordial and most accommodating.
- Sandy (10/5): - Wonderful and gracious innkeepers who oversee their inn with pride and hospitality. Kathryn is a great cook and baker.
- cindy (10/5): Beautiful Place! - Lovingly maintained B & B in very private garden setting. Rooms were very comfortable, quiet, and clean and breakfasts were excellent. Kathryn went out of her way to prepare a delicious gluten and dairy free breakfast for us, as well as leave some delicious gluten-free cookies in our room. Dan was friendly and helpful and served the breakfasts. The inn has a beautiful backyard and gazebo and it was a pleasure to sit out there and watch the many birds at their feeders. A nice perk was the availability of coffee, tea, cookies, clementines and microwaveable popcorn as well as a refrigerator right out side the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): cozy touch in bucolic location - Welcoming hosts, comfy and spacious room, exceptional breakfast (three-course!). short drive to Charlottesville. great spot.
- Terri (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous - Just a beautiful bed & breakfast....the bed and pillows were very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Breakfast - Wonderful B&B, best breakfast cooked by Kathryn , friendly helpful and reserved hosts, we loved it!
- Angie (10/5): Great Hosts - Bob and Kathryn were very welcoming to their out of town B&B. Very comfortable accommodation and great cookies available with tea/coffee anytime!
Breakfasts set you up nicely for a day of sightseeing and a lovely garden to sit out in - along with comfy sofas inside

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful setting not too far outside Charlottesville. Owners very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Everything you want from a B&B and more! - What a wonderful B&B from the moment they welcomed us at the door with a cocktail to the delicious breakfasts and beautiful spacious rooms - I cannot say enough about this great find. Great location to the wine trails as well as UVA.
- Keith (10/5): Cozy, Luxurious and Welcoming - Kathryn and Dan are incredibly sweet people. We were greeted and given the tour. The room had everything and was gorgeous this time of year. The fireplace and in room jacuzzi were personal favorites. The 3 course breakfast was exquisite and the atmosphere couldn't be nicer. Definitely coming back.
- Julie (10/5): Great respite - Very tranquil setting. Huge bathroom. Nice amenities. Great breakfast. Nice hot tub.
