Guest Reviews
- Matthew (9/5): - Jeremy the host had lots of interesting stories & information . To stay at a lighthouse was a unique experience.
- Mara Bianca (10/5): -
- Dominik (10/5): A home from home - This is an amazing property - cosy, comfortable and just a joy to stay at. We had an unforgettable stay and enjoyed every second. The property is specious with a great kitchen and living room and two nice bedrooms. The host was super friendly and when we arrived we had bread, milk, etc. this is definitely worth a stay and can only highly recommend. Everything is great - just two small remarks - you probably need a car as not that easy to reach with public transport (which is part of the beauty) and the WiFi is ok but not great - so working remotely also not ideal - again a positive as one can really relax.
- Susan (10/5): Lovely location comfortable house - Met by Jeremy & we were left a welcome pack of milk, bread, butter cheese, eggs. Very easy to communicate with host throughout our stay. Great location and we saw dolphins on our last day. We were lucky with the weather Nothing
- Kane (10/5): -
- Christian (9/5): Geheimtipp - Lage und Unterkunft hervorragend! Spülung der Toilette
- Doug (9/5): Amazing! - The uniqueness of staying at the lighthouse will always be a favorite memory. All was great!
- Anagha (9/5): Highly recommended to people who are interested in stargazing, technology, seashore, sailing, radar - The host Jeremy is quite helpful and a very humble person.
I like the welcome kit of food and collection of books and games. Nothing as such.
- karine (10/5): Perfect weekend escape by the sea in a very comfortable cottage. - The welcome from the host
The amazing quality welcome pack
The comfort of the cottage
The well equipped kitchen
The comfortable bedding
The orchids and fresh flowers
The historic feel of the lighthouse and surroundings.
Being beside the sea Nothing to dislike

- Rachel (10/5): Fabulous cottage with tons of charm - A property comfortable, welcoming, full of charm and character, lovely beds, everything you need. Attentive and welcoming hosts, generous welcome basket, and some lovely touches like fresh flowers. Yes the bathroom is dated but that is part of the charm and authenticity of a character property. The location is fabulous, 2 minutes to cliff walks, 5 minutes to a sandy beach. We watched the dolphins from both of these places.
Would not hesitate to recommend. We all had a truly lovely holiday Tiny things.... could have done with some side plates as there are only 7 large plates, and with 4 of us, we ran out regularly. Everything else was plentiful.
Also a heads up on how to use the TV, there were 4 remote controls, all very confusing.
- Natascha (8/5): -
- Vanessa (10/5): - It’s not very often you get to stay in a lighthouse and it was lovely seeing the lighthouse working at night and the sun shining on it in the early evening as it set. The room is beautifully furnished and comfortable and clean. I think the area is fascinating from an industrial sense but it’s not particularly pretty!
- Adel (10/5): - Everything
- Jennifer (10/5): cozy little getaway - This place is perfect as a getaway from crowds and noise. Our place was a cozy little three bedroom, which would easily serve a family or a group of friends. You’re only a couple of miles from groceries and shopping and the rest of town; it’s more of a drive than a walk, though, so you’ll want a car. Very close to a little stoney beach (maybe not safe for swimming but great for reading and enjoying the sound of the waves). Walking distance to a sweet little coffee shop that overlooks the harbor where dolphins might appear.
- Walter (10/5): Great cottage in a prime location! -
- Chandrasen (10/5): UNIQUE Experience !!! - This was an outstanding pick during our UK Vacations. We chose this unique place for my wife's birthday, and it turned out to be a superb choice.
Staying at Lighthouse property was something new. but when we checked in at the property, we knew it was going to be amazing. Our kids were equally excited to have opted for the same.
The check-in was smooth, even though we had reached a bit late due to long travel.
Jeremy was a thorough gentleman to meet at the place and show us around our accommodation and around the Light house as well. He even suggested a nice restaurant "The Silver Darling", which we visited and found outstanding.
It was breezy and chilled weather at night and was ultimate experience watching the lights on a star-filled sky background.
The 2 Bed Room house was cozy and it had absolutely everything anyone may need in a house / travel. Kitchen was fully stocked with cookies, shorties, fruits, bread, milk, etc. which was enough for 4 people.
Kids had fun time with variety of board games and with soundbar for music.
Beds are comfortable and well decorated.
Surrounding garden was spacious and had a picnic table.
Absolutely loved everything about this.
- Jonathan (7/5): Lighthouse cottage - Lovely setting.
Nice staff
Eclectic.
Welcoming I would gently suggest a revamp on bathroom sink taps and shower. Perhaps also a tidy out of the cupboards
- Bryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (9/5): Returned for another holiday in the Aberdeen Lighthouse Cottages - such a great place to stay -
- Jacqueline (10/5): We had a fabulous stay and hope to return. - It’s a really lovely, comfortable cottage. It had everything we needed with lots of extra touches, such as fresh flowers, a welcome pack for breakfast and a lovely card with a picture of the lighthouse. N/a
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Such an adorable cottage. Loved the scenery, the coziness of it. It had everything we needed. Could have used a couple of throw blankets in the living room. Will love it more if could have gotten a tour of the lighthouse itself, but it was under construction. Maybe next year!
- Yossi (10/5): Will definitely stay there again if we return to Aberdeen - Beautiful location, quiet with beautiful sea views. Well appointed house and kitchen, with excellent washer and dryer. Wonderful interior decor, comfortable beds and spacious living room and kitchen.
Lighthouse is close to a seaside promenade and to the harbor, making it ideal both for romantic types and for shipping geeks.
Our host Jeremy was remarkably warm and welcoming and gave us a lot of information. Water in the shower could have been a tad bit warmer.
- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing cottage attention to detail was exceptional the welcome package was amazing the beds were clean and comfy and amazing the owner was very inviting and informative Nothing to not like
- Kate (9/5): Excellent - full of character and cosy for a winter break. - Lovely characterful cottage in a great location. Before arrival I left a message with the host to ask not to leave the welcome pack for us as we are vegan and we didn't want to waste food. Our hosts very kindly left carefully selected vegan food for us. Thank you!
- Massey (9/5): Superb -
- Pratim (9/5): Superb -
- Jeanette (10/5): Home from home. - Everything was perfect. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and interesting. Cottage was home from home. Welcome pack was very gratefully received. We did not want to leave. Even the October Scottish weather was on our side. Nothing. All perfect. Northern lights and dolphins would have been a bonus!
- Lynn (9/5): We really enjoyed the proximity to the harbour areas and the beach/entertainment area for the children. - The location and the cosy cottage with lovely decor. Because there were 6, of us with 3 children, only having 1 toilet was a bit problematic at times!
- Gail (7/5): Enjoyable, comfortable stay in interesting location - Great location to see seals/dolphins/sunrise. Interesting to be next to the lighthouse. Living room and bedrooms were very nicely decorated. Good welcome pack. Friendly host. Kitchen had everything we needed. Bathroom needs some attention. Shower small, tired and not quite hot enough. Dusting needs to be better. Dust webs on cornices, particularly in bedroom ( I removed them before going to bed). Dusty in bathroom especially around bath
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional and unique cottage - The location is amazing with fantastic walks along the coast on your doorstep. The walk into Aberdeen was only 30 minutes and the cafe by the harbour is great for a viewpoint.
We saw seals and dolphins and the weather was great.
The welcome pack was really generous and fresh flowers everywhere.
The cottage really is fantastic and lovely to have a working lighthouse outside your front room window. The owners informed us that the cottage used to be the engine rooms for the fog horns which are still outside but not in use anymore. There is nothing not to like 🤗
- Lizanne (10/5): The lighthouse cottage was one of our favorite stays - The personal touch of being met by Jeremy and Gus orientation to the property was exceptional Nothing!
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Christobel (10/5): Superb cottage in amazing location - Fabulous and historic accommodation in amazing location. Generous welcome pack and welcoming host. Attention to detail on host's part was obvious and much appreciated. There was nothing not to like.
- Ray (10/5): Perfect stay - Very different, great location. Quirky.
Good base to travel around Scotland. Plenty of space, clean, comfy beds, big kitchen, big bathroom, comfy lounge. Good walk into Aberdeen (about 3 mile) Nothing.
- Alexandra (10/5): Beautiful and cosy place to stay when visiting Aberdeen - Beautiful historical property that is kept supremely well! Comfortable beds, stylish decor, nice accessories coordination - the lighthouse theme, but never too much! I loved fresh flowers put for us at the arrival, and of course felt very well looked after by the hosts - thank you for the rich welcome basket! Jeremy is a great host, we were stuck on our way and arrived late at night - he gave clear instructions of how to get into the cottage! I will definitely come back! Nothing
- Group (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (10/5): Lovely house which just added to an excellent break. - The property was an ideal location for us. The property itself was lovely and gave us more freedom that staying in a hotel. The views were stunning and it was very peaceful. The hosts were helpful and informative and the welcome pack was gratefully received and definitely used. Nothing
- Carole (9/5): Wonderful stay in a unique location - We had a lovely time at the cottage. The cottage is quite unique, beautiful, very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Excellent attention to detail. Jeremy was a very helpful and interesting host. It was great opening the door to the lighthouse everyday. We will definitely be back. Nothjng we did not like but you do need a car to get there.
- Yang (9/5): Superb -
- Maryke (9/5): The sea, a lighthouse and an amazing cottage, what more can you ask for…nothing. Thank you - Beautifully decorated with attention to detail for example fresh flowers and welcoming pack. All of this with a lighthouse towering over you! Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Truly amazing! - Location unique Accommodation very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Regular contact with owners. We would fully recommend this property. Thank you Jeremy and Kathryn. Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): Excellent location and cottage - The location was fantastic, sea views and ship spotting. A nice 2.5 mile stroll into Aberdeen. The cottage was cosy and well stocked. The welcome pack of bread, eggs etc was great. The beds were a little hard for our liking.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (10/5): Brilliant would stay again - Superb location, very welcoming, very helpful owner You need to drive to pubs and restaurants but that’s clear when you book
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (10/5): Amazing unique place to stay - Such a unique location - fabulous cottage and a lovely welcome pack Nothing negative to note
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reena (10/5): A warm and delightful stay - The host was extremely welcoming and happy to assist
The welcome pack was a lovely touch which we found very helpful and useful.
The cottage was clean, warm and cosy. The weather could have been better but has nothing to do with the property.
- Lisa (9/5): A truly special and memorable place to stay - This is a super unique property so you can't compare it easily to a similar priced options. You are staying in a cottage at a working lighthouse. It's on the edge of the harbor, so don't expect to be able to just walk to dinner. But if you want something quaint and quiet and unique with the ocean only a few steps away this is for you. The cottages are spacious and comfortable with living rooms and full kitchens, bedrooms and bathroom. They are either A or B listed historic buildings and are furnished accordingly. Jeremy was an incredibly gracious host, and provided us all the basic necessities for breakfast in the morning which was a wonderful bonus and made our stay that much nicer. It's very dark at night which allows you see stars and even the northern lights if you are fortunate enough to come on a cloudless night. The beds are pretty hard, at least for us. So we could have used a mattress pad or some extra cushion.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Absolutely lovely stay in a quaint comfy cottage - Jeremy met us at the property and was extremely helpful. The property is quite unique and in a quiet location outside the main city but with a short drive or walk in. Old Aberdeen and the parks are particularly nice. The bed was a bit soft for us but some would like that, so I would say personal preference. We liked lots of things about the property such as the little garden with seats.
- Gary (9/5): Superb - Unique location.
Calm and quiet.
- Mrs (10/5): Brilliant quirky place - The location and the surroundings is something we have never experienced in our lives and will never forget. The lighthouse itself was imposing, yet quietly reassuring and beautiful, particularly at night.
The host was exceptional and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and welcoming.
The cottage, formally the engine room was quirky, yet very tastefully presented, clean and tidy.
The places to visit in Aberdeenshire were brilliant, we went to Petershead prison museum, the Scottish lighthouse museum, the Aberdeen University museum of zoology, (free to the public) Donnetor Castle, seal spotting and much much more.
We've paid good money to go to London and other locations and come away disappointed. I'm a bit of a closet nerd and this place I can honestly say will not let you down. Just treat it like you would treat your own home. The dodgy areas in the city ! It felt and looked very deprived in certain areas! But I don't want to persecute it, as we personally had no problems,
Just stick to the nice areas.
In addition, the costs for parking and eating out are steep in the city centre.
- Julia (8/5): Very busy few days, nice to return to peace of the cottage and enjoy the ships out at sea. - Nicely furnished, fully equipped. A good place to stay in central Aberdeen with a coastal feeling. Good for short break but would choose somewhere with less industrial surroundings for a long holiday in Scotland.
- Bryan (10/5): Excellent Host! -
- Paul (8/5): Good value for money -
- Lynn (10/5): Fantastic, beautiful location and would definitely stay there again. - I love lighthouses and I stayed over my birthday. It was a beautiful setting for celebrating my birthday. Absolutely nothing. Everything fantastic.
- Andy (10/5): If you are staying in Aberdeen you must stay here, highly recommend - Fantastic location, incredibly clean, comfortable. Great host. Rare and interesting setting. Nothing
- Craig (10/5): Unique and comfortable accommodation with dolphins and seals pretty much guaranteed! -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): great facilities, great location, loved the stay - the location says it all, Aberdeen is 5 mins away in a car, lots to do and see in the surrounding areas, great quiet place to stay nothing
- Clare (10/5): comfortable, well equipped, relaxing - Location … loved the coastal spot and only 15 minutes into Aberdeen centre.
- Piotr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (9/5): Superb - Location and quirkiness were excellent.
- Funda (10/5): Magic place and lovely hosts❤ - Loved everything🥰 Jeremy is brilliant! He helped me every step of my travel to hotel. Drove from Heathrow to Aberdeen. Felt like visiting a old family friend. The house was clean and very pretty. When you travel long hours, seen in the kitchen butter, bread eggs etc.You feel you come back to your home.
Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely will return next year.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bettina (9/5): very nice location and the hosting was very pleasant. -
- Tess (9/5): Very cozy stay, overall quite lovely. - This property was extremely cozy and comfortable. There was a lovely welcome basket with essentials and our host Jeremy was kind and helpful. A little ways out of town, so transportation definitely required. But it was only 5 minutes into the town center so not bad at all if you precooked a cab.
- Sau (10/5): very comfortable - everything! the cottage was tastefully decorated, it had everything you need including little luxuries like nespresso machine and tumble dryer. owner Jeremy was very welcoming and friendly, would recommend this place to everyone. nothing! even the weather was nice when we were there!
- Alexina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (7/5): Historic property in scenic but isolated location - Historic property in a scenic location, very friendly and attentive owner, private parking on site. Nothing nearby, car required for everything. Expensive.
Car parking difficult in central Aberdeen.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Fabulous. Really enjoyed it - The property was excellent, the hosts made it very homely and there was every comfort catered for Not really sure there is anything. There was even butter and milk left for us on arrival
- Verified traveler (6/5): Homley & Enjoyable - Good location for an escape -
Great views on the ocean at sunrise and sunset just a short walk away.
Jeremy the host was very welcoming and friendly.
House was rather noisy from the elements outside (wind though the old fireplace that has not been covered correctly) plus the noise from interior such as boiler.
Original fireplace not usable as advertised however small electric fire was provided.
Beds were not the most comfortable and bathroom needs a little love.
A welcome pack of basic groceries which was a nice touch.
Overall the apartment was very homley. It was enjoyable stay.
- Laura (10/5): - Host Mr J Mockridge was very nice ..helpful with local activities suggestions..look forward to going back hopefully soon
