Guest Reviews
- Sarah (2/5): - Terrible check in. Waited for ages as only one girl working in the pub and doing everything. Had to wait in a busy bar with a load of drunks. Absolutely awful. The drunks took priority over us checking in. Wrong room given to us so we changed. Food stopped at 8p.m. Had to go out for food. Came back to freezing cold room and had to go down to bar to ask them to put heating on. Had to fight my way through all the drunks again to ask. No teaspoons for a coffee in the morning in the room and we had a really start. Dirty shower. Pub lights right outside the room. Absolutely awful stay.
- Naomi (10/5): - Friendly welcome. Comfortable room. Good atmosphere.
- Keith (4/5): Disappointed - Stayed last year and enjoyed it so much we decided to come again this year.
Very disappointed! We arrived and were shown to our room by a very polite young barmaid. Once in the room I had to go down to the bar to ask for towels and to report a broken toilet seat.
We were told there was no food available on Mondays so had to go elsewhere to eat, came back to find the place shuts at 9pm. Went back to our room and realised we had run out of toilet paper (half a roll for 2 night stay). I went downstairs to find the place was locked up and nobody was about. Luckily I found the cleaners cupboard was unlocked so I helped myself to toilet roll.
Next morning we went down for breakfast at 08.30 to find out that only serials and hot drinks were available but not until 09.00 so went without. After a day out we returned and asked for a menu for dinner. We were given a menu but after the young lady explained what wasn’t available we had a choice of pie, curry or beetroot wellington.
Over all the stay was bad. The room was generally dirty with bits of window hanging off. If there was a fire we would have been in trouble as the fire doors were wedged open.
- Richard (8/5): Nice little pub - Lovely friendly stafe and room was well presented, the bathroom had multiple maintenance issues. But because of the short stay i didnt mention it to the staff and didn't see any one on checking out. Would stay agen
- Lucio (4/5): - The room wasn't in very condition. The main problem was the mattres
- Sergio Alejandro Aspiros (4/5): - Poor, nobody clean the room in my five day stay, I had to take my trash and take it to reception, very hot, no fan or air conditioning, almost zero service, they don’t care about customers, the breakfast included is bread, milk, cereal and if you were lucky some tiny fruits.
Terrible experience, please Expedia don’t offer this in your platform.
- Richard (8/5): - A little tired but looks ok, staff are leaving and seem disgruntled
- Richard (6/5): Good for a night - Decent hotel, comfy bed, room a bit small, but only for 1 night. No water in room, also one of the packets of biscuits had been opened and 1 taken, so possibly not checked as thoroughly as could have been. Bar and restaurant part not busy so decided to eat elsewhere. Overall a good stay
- Mr DAVID (8/5): The Grumpy Old Veteran visit 😉 - Business trip, local to job & 3 great evening local walks.
Lovely friendly staff & very apologetic for problems out of their control.
Breakfast later than i could afford to wait but dining area left open for basics to accommodate me 👍
Recommend & use again..... yes
- Corina (10/5): - Nextt to horseshow

- Alison (10/5): - Cosy. Comfortable. Clean. Friendly English speaking staff. Good food. Quiet.
- MICHAEL ANTHONY (2/5): - dining facilities were closed at all times,
Breakfast was self service with no cooked food and no tea or coffee available and no staff available to assist.
Definitely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.
- Leonardo (10/5): - Lovely and quiet. Highly recommend!
- Lasse (8/5): Bra hotell i forhold til prisen - Alt i alt et greit hotell i forhold til prisen.
Eldre hotell med pub i 1etg.
Greie rom med en god seng.
- John (10/5): Very nice hotel and restaurant. - Under new management. New menu. Fresh decor and soft furnishings. Food delicious.
- Emma (10/5): Great for parkrun tourists - We stayed the night. Nice clean and comfortable room. The food served in the pub was excellent and great value. Staff were super helpful. Perfectly situated for visiting wakehurst place - especially if you’re a park runner. They very kindly provided a later breakfast, which was delicious.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Will not return - A restaurant was advised but there was no food served on a Tuesday which is the niht i wad there. No lock on bathroom door. Nowhere to hang towel. No switch at the dide of the bed to turn lights off. Breakfast was average.
- Kathleen (8/5): - Friendly staff but needs to have a nicer approach at check in not ask you to pay as soon as you arrive through the door
- Kyle (10/5): Great stay in even in a storm - We had a wonderful stay, the beds were super comfy and we did not want to leave it!
We went in a bad storm so we did have to deal with some power cuts and we didn't get to have our full English. But the chef was wonderful and tried her best to get us some breakfast out and made us a bacon sandwich which was really appreciated.
Great check in and staff were just amazing.
- Daniel (10/5): - C
- Sundeep (10/5): Well done - Great service and very helpful, will definitely be staying again
- Elaine (2/5): - The hotel was closed. Notice on door saying unexpected circumstances etc. We had to find alternative accommodation
- Carol (2/5): Closed - When we arrived place had closed down 2 days before they had told anyone and they are still taking bookings
- Lisa (8/5): - Excellent meal and beers
Room comfortable but quite dusty needs clean in places
Very good staff and kind service
- John (10/5): - Breakfast was poor. No fruit cheese yogurt on display
- Leah (10/5): Excellent business stay - Stayed for business purposes. A lovely gem in a lovely village. Will happily stay again in the future.
- Anne (10/5): Wonderful stay - The whole stay from checkin to breakfast was wonderful. We had an evening meal in the bar, the food was amazing and the service was great. We had a very comfortable nights sleep and then arose to an amazing breakfast. We will definitely be returning.
- Marc (8/5): - Ontbijt enkel Engels. Douche kon beter..
Voor de rest ok als Engelse Inn
