Breakfast and evening meals were excellent - we enjoyed eating at the inn. The Inn is close to a main road so some road noise is inevitable.
murphy (8/5): A relaxed and cosy stay! - Don't let the location of being on a road put you off. Apart from being situated off the main road, it's very convenient to get to my daughter's who lives a 5mins drive away. If we could uplift the hotel and move it further back it would be ideal but that's not an option! The staff are friendly, professional and very accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is old and full of character and you can feel the warmth and charm as you step inside! The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast is included in the overnight stay and there is plenty of choice to suit all appetites and the portions are good too! Try out the local sausages, they are gorgeous. If you are around in the evening I do recommend trying out their restaurant with a good menu selection that uses local produce and suits a variety of tastes. The Steak and beefburger are highly recommended. Another great stay, thank you Ram Inn!! The only small criticism we had was there isn't enough plug sockets in the room. They would definitely benefit with having at least one with a USB charger in each room. The socket by my bed was only a single and had the lamp plugged in but it was too difficult to pull out. Had this socket been a double this would have solved the issue of where to charge your phone. As it was I had to use another socket at the other end of the bedroom and remove the kettle.
Lee Crocker (9/5): Superb Accommodation - I love this place. I try and book her every year when I attend Armourfest. The rooms are large, comfortable and enough space for me to work from. Staff are great, breakfast is superb. Amble parking. Great selection of beers. There isn't anything that i don't like, just a heads up if you are there for a few days, the menu can be a bit repetitive.

Graeme (8/5): Enjoyable overnight stay with great food - The choices and quality of food were excellent. We really enjoyed both the evening meal and breakfast we had at the Ram during our overnight stay. The public areas of the inn had been very sympathetically renovated and it was good to see so many original beams and other features retained. Because of the nooks and crannies our dining table felt quite private. If/when we return to the area we would not hesitate to book the Ram again. The only slight issue we had was the height of the beams in the bedroom - this meant we had to be careful not to bump our heads. That said the design is very in keeping with the nature of the inn.

We only ate breakfast at the Ram. The food was very nice but service a bit slow. It's a lovely place. Full of character and history.

P A (4/5): Highly disappointed - Our recent stay at the Ram was regrettable, we felt compelled to share our experience due to the lack of professionalism and care shown during our visit, Reception closed at 9:30pm, check in was via key safe.Something we were only made aware of after proactively calling to advise of our late arrival, a courtesy message in advance would’ve been appreciated.Breakfast was equally disappointing. Unfriendly and unwelcoming staff, not even a smile then questioned why 3 guests occupied a triple room,despite our booking for 2 adults and a teen. On checkout, they attempted to charge for a 3rd person, citing the king size bed was only intended for 1 guest, an unusual & frankly unreasonable assertion for a triple room booking.There was a noticeable absence of basic customer service throughout our stay. The situation was handled poorly with no effort made to listen, apologise, or any form of resolution.The room itself left a little to be desired, dirty mug and traffic noise on the main road disturbed our sleep. Breakfast was mixed, the full English was well cooked the egg Benedict however was overdone and lacked flavour, this remained uneaten yet no one inquired why at the table or at checkout. Had the staff shown even a degree of friendliness or care, we wouldn’t be leaving this review. Sadly, they’re unprofessional and indifferent approach left a sour taste, literally and we would choose not to return.

Steven (4/5): - The staff are amazing and the food in the bar is lovely. I stayed in room 3 and the noise from the road is terrible. The noise doesn’t stop all night. The shower has a wooden frame running through it. It’s covered in cob webs and the room was also not cleaned and covered in cob webs. Unfortunately due to the cleanness of the room and the noise I wouldn’t stop there again. Though I would definitely eat there again. Shame as it has potential to be a lovely place to stop.

We found the Inn a lovely surprise with very friendly and helpful staff and very well appointed and comfortable rooms. Dinner both nights were excellent and service prompt and friendly. Although we didn’t mention it, the music in bar/restaurant area a bit loud and hard for my uncle to hear when we were talking. I think the flagstone floors made everything a bit louder.
Darryl (9/5): Warm welcome, good food, excellent service - Lovely building, good service from friendly staff, varied menu and good food at breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea. Lovely sized 4 poster room, with mini fridge. Struggled with mattress, may need renewal.
Mark (8/5): eventful - Thank you to the outstanding staff at the Old Ram. My brother took a turn and the staff could not have been kinder or more caring and really went the extra miles to make sure he got the best help and attention, cant thank you enough for your support and consideration. All was done with great grace and charm, and welcome humour. Big thank you to you all, everyone was delightful and I am sorry I dont know your names except Michelle's (I think) who was such fun and livened up our stay with her quick wit, while making sure we were well looked after.

Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely charismatic inn with delicious grub! - Outstanding place. Very rustic, delicious food, great sevice and immaculate accommodation. The only downside is the noise of the traffic when you are staying in the roof rooms as there is little sound insulation. Take earplugs and you will sleep soundly!
