Guest Reviews
- traveller5613 (2/5): Seen Better Days - No way is this a four star hotel. The room I was given had doors hanging loose, a tv that didn't work and dodgy air conditioning. There wasn't even a glass or a bin in the room. The only toiletries were a basic bar of soap. The restaurant isn't open in the evening and the breakfast was very basic. There was no price list displayed and the staff insisted I pay cash which meant I had to walk to the atm at the bus station and as a woman on her own walk back when anyone could have seen me draw out cash. I had to insist on a receipt as apparently they don't normally provide one! Could not wait to check out and change hotel.
- Christian (4/5): Wouldn't stay here again - Acceptable check-in, fast and reliable with a good explanation on how to operate the AC and all that.
Rooms are very very old looking and AC is noisy.
Breakfast had a broken coffee machine and very poor selection.
I was here on a business trip and needed a taxi. Asked the reception to call for one and they instead offered that I could pay them 20€ for the taxi upfront. Which is totally unacceptable for both insurance and security reasons. On top of that the taxitrip was 4,5€ on UBER.. so 20€ upfront is an attempt at scamming their customers.
- jaffalulu (8/5): A touch bland, clean and basically fine - Slightly bland but very clean hotel on a main road out in the suburbs but easy to reach the old town by uber. What gives it four stars rather than lower is the pleasant and welcome pool (especially after a hot day of sightseeing) and the very helpful staff. It's also quiet - at least our room was, which faced the pool and had a small balcony. Negatives are few - the lack of a lift is an obvious one, but the staff will help lug your bags to your room, and another was the horrible air freshener they use in the rooms which, to us at least, was too full-on and required a couple of hours of ventilation with open windows to get rid of. Breakfasts are so-so at best, with machine coffee and a dull assortment of offerings. There is a very convenient free car park right beside the hotel.
Quick tip - do not use local standard taxis which charge rip-off fees, but use uber instead which is far more reasonable.
- Gitte Monk (4/5): - The room said it was without balcony, which i did not think too much of. This however meant that the room was in a basement and if people walked past they could look in. The cleaning team, left the windows on tilt after cleaning. Which was a bit unpleasant after being gone the entire day. The 24 hour hotelservice meant the staff was sleeping in the reception, if you were there between 23 at night and 7 in the morning. The panel for the aircondition was hidden behind furniture, which was not advised by staff. Breakfast was not impressive. The scrambled eggs looked weirdly grey. Only book this hotel, if your only need is a bed to sleep in. But it is close to the airport, bus station and a nice beach.
- Angel-Alexander (2/5): Zero safety - I checked in to my room, there was another couple already in my bed.
- emmet (8/5): - Fast check in. Good location for bus station and beach area nearby. Good breakfast, helpful staff at reception.
- Vedrana (2/5): - Was das Frühstück betrifft, sehr schlecht.
- Joseph (8/5): - Clean property. Near the bus station. Clean pool. I’d think more of a three star
- maurizo92 (2/5): Never again! - Maybe 1 star hotel.
Thanks to the reception manager we survived cause change us the room little bit better.
At the beginning we received a disgusting room (dirty, very old towels, broken lamps, small bed).
Wellness closed, swimming pool dirty and with a lot of dead bees in the water.
Mold smelling in all the room, kettle without cups, tea, sugar, etc.
Selected wine was advertised but refrigerator was completely empty.
Please reconsider the 4 stars published or start to renewal the hotel
Apparently seems a closed hotel.
- Silvia (6/5): - Not really a 4 stars hotel service and cleanings (dirty water boiler, shower box’s door not closing properly , no cutleries/dishes/cups in the kitchenette, nothing inside mini fridge ) but perfect position for both the bus terminal and Kolovare beach. Supermarkets nearby. Spacious room.
- SILVANA (6/5): Podría ser mejor. - La habitación no tenía persiana ni black out. No teníamos vasos ni tazas. Andaban mal los enchufes. Pocos enchufes.
- Tommo691 (4/5): Not a 4 star I’ve stayed in better 2 stars - This accommodation does not warrant a 4 star hotel !!!!
As present it’s a 2-3 and it’s well over priced
Pool side beds are shocking - no parrasels for shade
Pool is small and ok but doesn’t look fully clean .
I don’t agree with smoking being allowed in the bar area inside in such a small space it’s disgusting and smelly and very unpleasant when you don’t smoke .
A couple of staff members look hostile they really need to smile more .
One smoking like a factory chimney and looks untidy
Faulty towers comes to mind
Breakfast - no wonder nobody bothers showing up it’s RANK !!!
Stone cold
Embryo eggs at 7.15 am. ?
Scrabble eggs look like they are re used days on end .
I only end up having coffee melon and those chocolate craisants
Beds - no sheets on just one covering mattress !!
People screeming and jumping in the pool at 5.30 am ??? And kids in still at 9pm
No standards set !!!
Charging you taxes on your last day for your stay when you already paid in full for your holiday !!!
You should be refunding half my holiday 900 pounds plus for 1 week .
Postive - some staff did smile
And bus station is on the doorstep to escape
If all this feed back is taken on board then people will have a better view .
- tuiskus2022 (2/5): A health hazard of a hotel - The whole building was full of mold. At first we recieved a room that had a moisty wall which they had covered with the bed. We first discovered the mold from the wet bedsheets. They offered a family room that also had some water damage. The room was also filled with ants. They offered us yet another room which seemed fine at first, but the AC did not work. The next morning our whole family woke up with red eyes, swollen faces and difficulty breathing. The breakfast was modest to say the least with the eggs being old and the coffee not being very tasty. We tried to get a refund but they tried offering us two new rooms, which had suffered of water damage as well. We tried to speak to the manager but he would not show up or talk to us in the phone. In the end we ended up leaving after first night without any kind of refund.
Would not recommend to anyone unless you want to get sick.
- Mattias (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel one night before departure from Zadar. Hotel ZADAR is an OK hotel close to city center and other attractions. This hotel is nice and our room was OK but a bit torn. The bathroom was really nice though. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was fresh and varied. The AC of this hotel does not have much power so our room was hot after a hot day with lots of sun, a major drawback. Nice and polite staff. The pool area was nice and clean.
- Roam05243762332 (2/5): Worse hotel I have ever set foot in - Terrible hotel. There is a kettle but no cups. A mini bar which is just a fridge. The TV had no signal. The air conditioning did not work because our balcony door would not close. No working bulb. No one came to refill bathroom facilities. Dirty furniture. Shabby view. Ripped off big time! When trying to resolve issues the manager was never available! The staff said he would come in 1 hr but never turned up. Don’t stay here - it will not look like the photos. No idea how it has 4 stars, I usually stay in hostels but decided to treat myself and wish I didn’t, in my experience the many hostels I’ve stayed in have been much cleaner, friendlier and more helpful with better services. Save your money and stay in a hostel!
- grahamwG7908BH (2/5): A 4 star joke - Without a doubt the worst experience of an otherwise lovely holiday
Dirty room no soap no glasses cups or normal excessories
Skamed when using the hotel shuttel for a ridiculous charge from the airport when I refused to pay and asked to speak the manager I was told he was unavailable
This is so far from 4 stars as you can possibly get
Avoid at all costs
- louloulcharly (4/5): Not a 4 stars hotel - The hotel doesn‘t deserve 4 Stars, it really needs to be renovated, you hear a lot of noise from the other rooms, the hotel doesn‘t seem very clean, they don’t serve fresh fruits at the breakfast (bit old fruits). The breakfast isn‘t that great. And they need to check up their bathrooms, water is leaking in the toilet..
- Alexandre (4/5): Travel in time - The hotel was quite outdated. Breakfast was not appetizing or inviting.
Swimming pool was clean
Room was old and the toilet brush not very clean.
- Mikael (8/5): - Ett stopp på vägen till Split.
- Rossetti Massimo Vittorio (2/5): Terrible customer ethics service. - My partner and I are in our late 50’s, we were left totally distress by the awful inconvenience of the cancellation of the 2 nights we had originally booked, atZaDar Hotel. This has really ruined our holiday. We called the hotel and we’re told that the reason of the room cancellation was due to an electrical issue in our room. It is hard to believe that, it was a lame excuse as they probably overbooked the rooms. It was very unnerving as we were not offered alternative accommodation for our already paid rooms. Instead we were left to our own devices, with no rooms available on hotels.com website or other hotel booking sites. We were seriously worried that there were not able to find accommodation for the night. A rather stressful psychological experience to contemplate.
After 2 hours talking to an Hotels.com customer agents and then referred to your back office, as there were no rooms available in the entire city of Zadar on your website or any other hotel booking sites for the night.
We’d to sleep in a hostel for one night and then found a room in a very expensive hotel the Bastion. I’m still waiting Hotels.com to refund the Hotel ZaDar cancellation and refund if the 2 nights at the hotel and hotel Bastion. Hotels.com offers a terrible customer service when when one if their listed hotel cancel the room at the very last minute. I want a full refund of the hotels costs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - very tired and dated. breakfast and pool okay. Owner rude.
- S2159KNjasonw (2/5): Sneaky Business - These guys are sneaky and if you can avoid it, don’t book a hotel here. It’s relatively clean, but the pool is shabby and the entire place needs a massive upgrade. Be careful if you book a room, they might change the room on you to make extra money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - For anyone wanting to book this hotel I would highly urge you not to and look for somewhere else. I arrived at this hotel with my daughter little after 10pm local time exhausted to be told that my reservation was cancelled due to a pathetic and frankly false statement that the room has 'technical issues'. According to the member of staff there the email was sent on the day of arrival at 1pm which according to her the email was read at 11.30am. To make matters worse when I questioned her what action did the hotel take she said nothing shrugged her shoulders and stated 'it's your problem not ours'. I asked her to call the manager which she declined. She had only at my request contacted few apartments but with no success unsurprisingly. She had also threated to call the police when I said I am not moving from the hotel as I don't know Zadar at all being that this was our first time in the city. I want to be clear I am well aware what hotels should do and what action should be taken when something like this occurs. This hotel not only broke both European and Croatian law but took absolutely no action to help and support their customer. My daughter and I were so stressed and scared at the prospect of sleeping on the street of city unknown to us. Luckily thanxs to my family member we managed to find something which was 40min out of city and we had to pay for taxi ride which hotel should have paid at least as a gesture of goodwill.
Save yourself the trouble don't book this hotel.
- lexithekitten (4/5): The worse hotel in a very long time..stay away - The hotel is very different from the pictures you find on booking or on its website. The pool is very small and very dirty. Our room had very unconfortable beds, full of moschitos and there are no nets, it was facing the main road so it was very noisy and it was rather dull. Thankfully we stayed only for one night. We went for breakfast at 8.30 and there was nothing left to eat..nothing only coffee available. For us as frequent travellers it was the worst hotel in a long time and we will remember it!
- szymonj964 (2/5): Definitely not recommend! - Our experience with this hotel was bad from the very beginning. When we asked about the earlier check in we only heard manager shouting at the receptionist that she tried to help us , even though 2 days before our arrival I got an email that probably we’ll have our room ready. His was really impolite the way he said that. Then after 5 hours waiting we finally received keys for our rooms and it turned out that one of them wasn’t cleaned after previous guests! Dirty bed sheets, towels and trash bin completely full! When we wanted to speak to the manager we were told to wait and then after around 30 mins waiting receptionist told us that he wouldn’t come. He was around all the time just didn’t want to speak with us. Totally unprofessional! I think he was the one who should apologize for the inconvenience and offer some kind of recompense. Especially after his behavior at the beginning. We received rooms located in different buildings even though I made both bookings under the same surname a few weeks before.
Manager of this hotel was totally unhelpful and impolite. He was drinking alcohol at the reception every single day and walking around drunk. The pool was dirty and we found electric wires floating in the water while other people were swimming inside ! It was really dangerous! Another day manager added chlorine when we were swimming. He should do this kind of things during closing hours of the pool but he preferred to drink at the reception. At the pool area there was no music and the manager turned off all lights at 23.30 even though there were still guests sitting there. We once asked him to leave it on for a little while but heard only that it’s too late. We felt as if we were children at the school trip.
Breakfast was really poor! Very little choice. No fresh vegetables.
At the check out we paid more city tax than we were supposed to pay but we realized it after we left. It wasn’t much money but it still was.
To sum up it was the worst value for money I have ever gotten and definitely not recommend!
The only good thing about this hotel are bartenders who try to do their best to make all guests feel good! Especially the young staff.
- Rodrigo (6/5): - Normal.
Trist værelse under jordniveau, enkel morgenmad.
- DesW108 (8/5): Good, clean hotel in a fair location - - Good small pool, great staff, good wifi and really what it says on the tin - a mid range local hotel perfect for a few days. Slight downside is that the advertised gym no longer exists, a couple of issues with the room and key but the staff quickly sorted, handy to transport and parking
- joannez180 (8/5): Wonderful hotel with great staff - We had not planned to stay here but after my Husband has a accident at the beginning of our Croatian Cruise, we were stuck in Zadar waiting on our insurance company to call, so after some time we decided it was best to find a hotel for the night and Hotel ZaDar was the closest to the bus station, where we were hanging around! We could not have chosen a better hotel. Our room was ready as soon as we walked in at around 12:30pm and the room was very big including a little kitchen area. You can also close the bedroom door so that you can close off any noise from people coming & going along the corridor. We asked if we could extend our check out from 10am until 12 the next day as were still not sure of our plans and this was no problem. The next day we found out that we needed to stay another night and again this was no problem. We also ate at the restaurant in the evening and had lovely fish the first night and although my order was messed up in the second night, it was still good and I was not too bothered. Breakfast was a very small selection but fine for what we wanted. All the staff that we encountered were lovely. My only criticism is the smell of smoke. It comes through in the air con plus the reception area stinks as there is a cafe bar where obviously people are smoking and as its Croatia, smoking is very hard to avoid. However, this would not stop me staying at this hotel again. Thanks for making a stressful few days comfortable for us.
- N-d263 (10/5): Loved it - Really enjoyed my stay here. Great pool to cool off during the afternoon heat. Rooms were very comfortable, also very good airconditioning provided in these rooms. Best part of stay however was the hotel staff. Each and everyone of them that I met were very helpful, kind and great to chat to!Would love to stay again sometime
- annea908 (2/5): Not worth booking! - The hotel is not close to the city center. We had to drive in and walk from the outside parking lot. The double bed sagged on both sides. The single bed was also very soft. Pillows were lumpy. Breakfast was inadequate, not worth paying extra for the breakfast. Not much to choose from on the breakfast buffet. Croissants were burnt and they didn't serve any fresh fruit.
- RB (2/5): - The first impression as soon as you walk into the lobby is the heavy smell of cigarette smoke that is present throughout the whole establishment. Also bathrooms in the guest rooms are so small and smelly and most normal size people cannot enter into the shower area which is so small that even if one is able to enter it, cannot bend or move inside. Towels are not soft but old and feel like a leather rubbing one's skin. Breakfast is ok and waitresses are nice and friendly, but ownership of the hotel needs to make many changes to improve guests experience in the establishment!
- O4964UAkatiep (10/5): 5 star for customer service - I didn't stay here so can't comment on anything else. I was staying nearby with my partner and over the week our boarding passes had gone AWOL and we were due to be picked up for the airport shortly. By chance I nipped in to ask if they could reprint them and I would happily pay. The lady on reception was absolutely lovely and couldn't have done more to help, so this is really a massive thank you to her friendliness which stopped me panicking. Thank you so much (The lady was on reception at 12noon on 11/05/19). Thank you
- annnieb2019 (10/5): Nice - Nice hotel with great owners, close to the city center. I love the name of the hotel. It was very clean and very pleasant to stay in here and the staff was very kind. We were so astonished with them, can't wait to see them again.
- ChristopheLARCH (4/5): Good bed, horrible breakfast ! - The location is not good, about 3-4 km from the historic center. So you need a car. I stayed in a nice appartment. The problem is :
-the service, employees are quite cold and not very pleasant
-the breakfast served in a ugly restaurant, old fashion design like in the 50's, with the most horrible coffee and orange juice I've ever had. Cold eggs, dry bread, chimical jam,old fruits...
-bad WIFI
Sure you can find much better in beautiful Zadar !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Maybe it was because i was visiting off season (November), but overall i was underwhelmed. Limited breakfast, a small shower and overall state of hotel dissapointed me. The available parking and people were nice. My overall stay was good and i'm sure in the summer it is very different, but if i compare it with other 4 star locations in Croatia it left me wanting.
- Jon (8/5): - Very Friendly staff - nice room and lovely pool
- T8505UGpeterh (8/5): Very Good 4/5 - Overall, its a very good hotel, which use to be a hostel and you may find a lot of beds in your (large) room. The rooms offer a TV with international channels and a mini-bar (check pictures for prices and products).
The Hotel has a great location. If you are travelling from the airport, take a bus just from outside the terminal (only 25kuna) in less than 15mins it will take to the bus station and than its less then 5min walk to the hotel. The nearest beach is also about 5mins away. The city centre is about 10 to 15mins away.
The hotel provides an airport transfer but it is about 30euros.
The hotel is newish and clean. There is a nice small pool with sun beds and umbrellas. The restaurant is fine and they offer an outside tables.
The staff speak good English and are very friendly (apart from the hotel owner ;)).
Breakfast is very simple and its only open till 9 or 10am and it seems that is the most negative aspect that all guests complained about. Also there is no luggage, but they will offer you to leave your bags in managers room.
- Mirsada (10/5): Would stay here again - The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Walk distance to most everything. Would stay there again.
For Englisch speaking people: Our recommendation - don´t go there, unless you like to spend a lot of money for bad service
- Simon (8/5): - Never met reception workers who couldn't be bothered like these two. Wouldn't stay again purely on the attitude of the staff.
- Marc (4/5): Not a 4-star hotel - Large room. Rather comfortable. However, the remaining of the services were not good. Weak and unstable wifi; unfriendly staff, especially the manager/owner; quite disappointing breakfast: very limited choice of food, to the exception of the egg à la coq, nothing is good, coffee and juices are awful, cereals are no good, cheese and cool meat are no good, etc. No clean glasses at the bar. Etc.
- Xing (8/5): - Reception was very helpful in answer questions.
- Jörgen (6/5): Godkänd frukost men tråkigt närområde - Mycket tråkigt närområde. Felaktig gatuadress.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotell Zadar. - Bra, stor lgh, renlig, stor balkong, ohjälpsam trött personal, 30 min till stan, 10 min till vattnet. Ok frukost och pool.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - piscina piccola, lingua italiana sconosciuta...........
- Derek (8/5): Zadar hotel close to beach and town - Our room was much bigger than expected. Had a bedroom, bathroom, and a living room with pullout couch, dining table and small kitchenette with stove and a huge outdoor patio with a table and sun umbrella and view of the pool. Bathroom and room was very clean, beach was a 10 min walk and sea organ was a 30 minute walk, Krka NP was a 45 min drive. Very accomodating hotel with plenty of free parking.
