Guest Reviews
- Victor (10/5): - Great location can walk to everything
- Talia (10/5): - This was a beautiful suite to stay in! One thing to note is to make sure that you find parking. Check out the websites in advance… We thought we found parking in the right spot, however, the machine was broken and we were not able to leave the next day very easily.
- Trek746417 (8/5): Salerno B & B - This location is great for walking to the stores and to the water. The building could use a bit of TLC and the front rooms can be very noisy because of outside traffic. Most of the rooms have very low beds. Breakfast was okay. The host was friendly and helpful. Not high end, but clean.
- Alejandra (8/5): - Convenient location close to train station and to the water. Safe.
The bed was very low and uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, clean and friendly. - + Great location between the train station (less than 10 minutes walk) and the old town (within 5 minutes walk). Bus stops nearby.
+ Has elevator.
+ Clean place and has enough space.
- The bed was a bit low although comfortable.
- Shower room too small.
- Nuts4Bolts (2/5): WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!! - I can't believe this hotel has 5 star reviews?? WORST hotel experience I've ever had!! We arrived with a family of 4 adults and a confirmation from Hotels.com for 4 adults. Theresa went to her laptop and said her booking only showed 2 adults. She brought us to our room which had only one queen size bed. My reservation confirmation showed a queen size bed and a full size pullout couch. She literally took me to a utility closet with a washer/dryer, brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, etc. where a filthy rolled up cot was on a large shelf and said she could make that into a bed. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! My reservation also confirmed A/C and only part of the unit had A/C in it (during a major European heat-wave). We arrived at 8:00 pm after a long hot day with a train from Rome and ferries along the Amalfi Coast. The building was sketchy, lobby & staircase had NO lighting, we had to use the flashlights on our cell phones to see up the stairwell, elevator wasn't working and unit was on the 3rd floor. Theresa spoke broken English and was rude and frustrated when we told her we wouldn't be staying. She refused to refund us our hotel expenses even though the error was clearly on their part. Since I had 4 adults confirmed "in writing," she should've been apologetic for the inconvenience and offered us a refund - the room didn't match our confirmation and she didn't have any other rooms available. Very poor customer service and an insult to Italian hospitality!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For my wife and i , the best b&b in Salerno. Teresa made us so welcome. She personally picked us up and dropped us off at Airport. We were given a free upgrade of room which was fantastic. The room was very clean and spacious. The b&b was centrally located to all amenities in Salerno. Will definitely book this b&b again. TOP MARKS. Thanks Teresa for a lovely stay.

- Mirna46 (10/5): Terrific location, rooms and hostess - The location is within 10 minutes on foot to/from the train station and 10-15 minutes on foot from the Salerno old town and the beautiful Duomo. Owner Teresa is incredibly helpful and cheerful. The rooms are clean, well-appointed, with WiFi and a terrific continental breakfast, often with home-made cakes. For 5-6 Euros you can have a load's washing done.
In short: Absolutely terrific in every respect.
- EMANUELE (10/5): strategica - a due passi dalla stazione ferroviaria e in posizione strategica per farsi una bella.passeggiata sul corso principale e cosa importante personale squisito, sembra di stare a casa!
- TwoputtandMore (10/5): Great Location Spacious Rooms, Excellent Service - We stayed in Salerno at the Casa Castagna for 4 nights. The B&B is located in good location about 10 minute walk to the train station and the ferry to Amalfi. Teresa is the manager for the B&B and she is excellent. The rooms are spacious, very clean, a very good continental breakfast is served each morning in the central dining room. There is a lift from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor where the B&B is located. It is very quiet location but central to pedestrian shopping area, restaurants, historical sites, and transporation. We loved Teresa, she does an excellent job in taking care of you while you stay there. We would highly recommend Casa Castagna for anyone visiting Salerno.
- Mike (10/5): - Great location, with very helpful staff. Recommend the breakfast, which we were able to have without pre-booking once we saw how much we fancied it. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Nice place. Very noisy town at night.
- mikeh19544 (10/5): Excellent base - Very smart accommodation, with everything we wanted in the room. Warm informative welcome. Very good continental breakfast, and did us a big favour by storing our bag for a few nights. Would happily stay there again.
- Stephanie (10/5): Consigliatissimo - Chambres décorées avec goût et propres.
Emplacement parfait : lungomare et proche du centre.
Consigliatissimo
- ZedAbdn (8/5): A great find - Great location in Salerno with easy access to trains and buses and ferries. Rooms were clean and fresh towels every day. Breakfast was great. Theresa was very friendly and approachable and helpful. Had lots of toiletries and little touches. The entrance to the accommodation isn’t obvious and is quite grubby but this shouldn’t put you off considering this accommodation. There was quite a lot of street noise throughout the night even with the shutters and doors/windows shut. Overall, we’re glad we stayed here.
- Malin (8/5): Thank you! - Lovely location, helpful staff. Nice, clean room! Would stay again!

- karinmax (8/5): Very sweet and personal touch - A very nice little B&B in a quite boring building. But when you come into the B&B you forget the rest. It's cute, the room is lovely with a personal detail, very nice toiletries, the towels have little ribbon to them - the little extra personal touch really make a difference. very nice breakfast too. I had mentioned I was gluten intolerant and I got a lot of extra bread and cake for me. I really recommend this little place in Salerno. A ten minute walk to the train station through a pedestrian street is also very convenient.
- 239agnieszkar (2/5): Last moment cancellation because of overbooking - We have booked this property through booking.com as it had great reviews and it looked lovely. We have booked it over a month ago and today, a week before arrival, we have just been informed that our reservation has been cancelled due to overbooking and that the property does not have any solution for us.
This is absolutely unacceptable for a 6 nights booking that was made over a month ago. I am guessing they are trying to resell our nights at a higher price because the prices have gone up. However nice the host might be, this is a completely unprofessional and untrustworthy behaviour; we now have to look for alternatives and it changes our whole vacation plan.
To be avoided!
- mariapiadellicarri (10/5): THE BEST B&B IN SALERNO - I found this little gem through TripAdvisor as they had good reviews and perfect location.. to move around to see all the beauty around..
so happy to be here, i felt very spoilt by Teresa with her kindness and the care she give to every guest.. when we checked in, it was quite early and we asked to leave our bags, and she offered breakfast for free, the extra touch that doesn't happen very often...the breakfast is (anything you can wish of, homemade cakes, amazing cakes, fruit, cheese, anything) to the room , very comfortable and stylish.. For us it was so convenient because it is only 10 minutes to the train station, only 20 minutes from the port, only 30 seconds from town centre... the fridge is full of drinks that are free.. extra bonus have fresh water in the room..and we eat so much in the morning that we only had dinner till late.. good saving for your pocket too.. so come here and feel pampered and look after by amazing lady...
We loved CASA CASTAGNA
- Melfoto (10/5): Casa Castagna B&B, Salerno: Good location near historic center and pedestrian shopping area! - At Casa Castagna B&B we were greeted by Teresa, the cheeriest B&B hostess ever! The B&B’s common area has a warm atmosphere, nice kitchen, contemporary style rooms and although it was the second week in January, her beautiful Christmas tree was still up, as well as the incredible Festival of Lights throughout
Salerno. Our room had a good bed, slippers (!) ‘was comfortable with enough room for our bags. At breakfast Teresa returned that morning with home made pastries-fruit tart, cakes, then bakery fresh cornetti, fruit juices, coffee, fruit, etc. One thing, parking sucks in Salerno. We knew that from various past trips, where we used parking garages each time. Teresa has an arrangement with a near by garage that her guests get a discount off the nominal rate. ‘Worked perfect for us.
We definitely would return to Casa Castagna for another visit to the historic center of Salerno.
- tammymA2890FA (8/5): In the center of Salerno - A roomy B&B, and the owner and staff are very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Our room was well priced, and offered a balcony that overlooked a main street just off of Via Emmanuel, which is the large shopping district in the center of the waterfront area.
It just so happened that our visit coincided with the Festivale San Mateo, a very important festivale for Salerno! The precession went right past Casa Castagna, making our patio prime viewing.
A bottle of wine, and snacks from a local panini shop made for a very fun evening!
Location is central, perfect for visiting Amalfi, Positano, Pompeii and other coastal spots. The train station is an easy walk through the shopping district, south just a few blocks.
The accomodations are very clean, updated and comfortable. Breakfast is flexible for guests schedules, and offers fruits, cereals, pastries, salumi, eggs and more!
