Guest Reviews
- Ashley (9/5): -
- Judy (8/5): -
- Barry (10/5): I grew up in Swarthmore and rarely get back. The inn at Swarthmore was welcoming and convenient. - Beautiful facility conveniently located on the Swarthmore College campus. Close to train and dining. No pool
- Mary (Molly) Bliss (9/5): -
- Mary (10/5): I was very happy to find a place that was easy to get to, beautiful property and exceptional service - Everything was so nice. The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful. I really don't have anything to complain about! Everything was fine.
- Robert (4/5): I’ll look for other options. - Location on campus. Staff. Made me feel completely irrelevant. Like I was disturbing them.
- carrie (8/5): -
- GoTours (6/5): Misses: 1) having to ask staff to carry bags up/down 2) EV charger policy 3) Light switches hidden - Rooms were fine/nice, though you need a tutorial on where switches are on all lamps. You really need a couple notes near them pointing out w 2-3 words. Had to call front desk at 1A which was annoying for us all. Your policy on EV charging is clearly uninformed and plain wrong, and does nothing to assist your guests. It's also clear nobody in mngmt at Inn @ S, drives one or has been subject to their Inn's policies. We arrived at 11:30P. The front desk woman was great and persevered, but it was her 1st ever experience with the chargers (and no other staff after that had ever been properly trained either). As is clearly the exception, my wife and I drove almost 300 miles to come, and were in desperate need of a full overnight, 8-hour charge. "Only 4 (in any 24 hours)" which is your terribly uninformed policy, is completely inadequate and required me to spend additional hours finding in-town chargers, but not a quick one until Baltimore Pike, which required about 4 full hours from my very busy day, having to locate the charger (which "is a thing" for us EV drivers), then commuting to and from it after finding a willing friend to drive my wife and I. And bc we arrived so late, when I went to charge the next day, since I already had had a 4-hour change, I couldn't re-plug in, till after midnight the next day, and so it went. It was horribly dysfunctional and affected our return trip too, as we had to stop on NJ Turnpike to get on a fast changer, and wasted at least 3 more hours throughout that process.
- Kitty (8/5): Nicer than I expected from other reviews. - I bought breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good. The Inn is right by the commuter train and walking distance to my cousin's house. I paid more than my usual limit.
- Rebecca Wynn (8/5): - We love this hotel with the exception that the elevator has been out of service for 2 years! Major advances in technology have been made in less time. The front desk has gotten to the point of being totally non-apologetic about it. I'm sure it hasn't been a whole lot of fun for them but try being a guest carrying multiple suitcases up 3 flights of stairs! don't know why they don't hire students from Swarthmore College as baggage porters.
- Aaron (10/5): - Such a lovely place to stay!
- Sean (10/5): - Elevator was out of service
- Kaisar (8/5): It was a good stay - The restaurant was very good. Peaceful location. Good stay. Elevator was not working.
- Crystal (8/5): - The room was clean. Staff was nice. Quiet and friendly with free parking. Didn’t stay long, but definitely worth the stay.
- Richard (8/5): Great Property - Suite Door Lock Warning - This is a fantastic property with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are beautifully appointed and really comfortable - you can tell they put thought into the guest experience.
I was all set to give this place 5 stars, but had one unexpected hiccup that kept it at 4. I'd booked a suite, and after getting back to the hotel around 12:45 AM from a late night flight, I was getting ready for bed around 1 AM. When I went into the living room to get my luggage and closed the door behind me, it locked - the lock button had already been pushed in. Half my belongings were stuck in there, including toiletries like my earplugs that I really needed for sleeping. Unfortunately the front desk didn't have a key to get me back in. What really surprised me was learning this had happened to another guest just two nights before!
That said, I have to give credit where it's due - the staff was genuinely concerned and did everything they could to help me out. They were so kind about the whole situation. I'm hoping they've been able to address this issue since my stay so future guests don't run into the same problem.
Bottom line: it's a wonderful place to stay. Just a heads up for anyone booking a suite - double-check that the lock button isn't pressed before you close any doors!
- Zoe (10/5): - Great suite
- Simon (6/5): - Bit of a strange hotel. I didn’t get the room I had booked and the hotel wasn’t very helpful at sorting this out refunding the difference. Rooms have noisy old AC systems and feel a bit like an 80’s Hilton room. Staff are pleasant
- Laura (10/5): -
- J. Michael (10/5): - Above and beyond expectations.
- tayyebeh (1/5): - Access to train Very dirty sheets and blankets
- Ester (10/5): -
- Wayne (8/5): - Service in the restaurant was extremely slow. The food was good but it took a long time to receive it and what we ordered was not what we received. My wife’s omelet was made wrong and by the time she received her correct one I was completely done eating. Then it took several minutes after we were finished to get our bill. It was not crowded at the time. Only a few other customers were there.
- Stuart (6/5): - Pros: staff friendliness and hospitality, atmosphere, proximity to town and campus. Cons: walls are thin and building is dog friendly, so when other guests’ dogs whine and bark all day/night, staff can’t really do anything to help. Shower’s “modern” design (no curtain or door) = weak water pressure and water goes everywhere. Coffee is pulled every AM so you have to buy it from the restaurant. Overall I would stay again, but would look elsewhere first. Lastly, ask for a room away from the elevators, the dinging and guest noise can be distracting at all times.
- David (10/5): - The hotel was exactly what we needed. The elevator was broken but that wasn’t a big problem for us. It might have been for some guests who were also on the third floor.
- Mary (10/5): - The front desk staff was friendly. The room was clean and spacious.
- Darcy (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and the rooms were excellent! Nice surrounding area with small shops and beautiful college campus.
- Roberto (10/5): - Great property. Clean, quiet. Beautiful grounds around the University.
- Marie (10/5): - Excellent all around!!!
- Laurie (10/5): - Outside the busy coty center with super easy access to transportation ! Beautiful spot.. I will definitely return for a longer stay.
- Matthew (8/5): - Clean rooms, and very helpful staff. Recommend.
- Kathy (8/5): - No coffee in lobby. No elevator.
- Kathy (6/5): - The price was more for night 2.
- Ken (8/5): - Just here for one night. Nice place
- Sara (10/5): - This was our best day of the summer, highly recommend!
- Cheryl (2/5): - No working TV in rooms. Elevator down. Front desk welcome, non existent..had to go in back and get girl off of face time with her friend. Bad experience
- Penney (8/5): Very good - No elevator.
- Diego (7/5): Good - Nice building and facilities, room is pretty comfortable. Food in restaurante was delicious and fresh. Elevator was not working and nobody to help to take luggage upstairs. In other words, they knew the elevator was out of service, they would have had someone to help move luggage upstairs.
Staff is ok but they could do better saying hello to guests. Price was ok, but a little pricey for the location.
- Aquib (10/5): - Great stay — super centrally located for all things Swarthmore. Call to make sure the elevators are back up and running if that’s important for you.
- George (6/5): - Overall this property is dated and needs a lot of TLC. Elevator was a mess, furniture was dated, the mattress was worn out and squeaky, hot water took forever to make it to the shower. Not worth the price point they ask.
- Tarshene (10/5): - My family and I always have a great experience during our stays at the Inn at Swarthmore and will definitely return in the future, when it is available and recommend it to our friends. Thank you.
- Tapangshu (3/5): Poor -
- Hotd (10/5): Amazing place and a great tavern downstairs - Great staff, clean rooms, and a gorgeous suite. That I couldn’t stay long
- Dominique (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (10/5): - Wonderful staff i hope the elevator is repaired soon
- Lisa (8/5): - convenient
- Natalie (8/5): - The Inn is lovely and right in the ville. The elevator was out of commission.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Lovely hotel right on campus. Near Scott zarboretum
- Lisa (8/5): - The location is great with stores and dining within walking distance. The staff was friendly and responsive. The inn itself is showing a little wear but is being worked on, e.g., elevator not in use but is being upgraded.
Overall, a great place to stay and we will continue to return here when we stay in the area.
- Caleb (6/5): - Overall, the hotel is on beautiful grounds and it’s cleanly with a lovely staff. I had a room with an adjoining door that was closed, but the next room remover was still very clearly audible like I could hear the person snoring at night.
It wasn’t a dealbreaker and I would stay here again, but I would find a room with no adjoining door
- Joseph (6/5): - I asked for a copy of my bill to be sent to me via e mail at 8:30 am today.
I have not received a copy of my statement.
Not sure if a copy will be sent to my e mail address.
- Rosemary (8/5): - Stayed in the hotel several days a week over the last 6 weeks. Staff very nice and accommodating. Rooms are large. Beds are comfortable. However, the hotel showing clear signs of wear and tear and can use sprucing up and deep cleaning. Water pressure especially on the second floor is just bad. For unknown reason, the water pressure on the third floor is much better.
- Trianthe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): - Wonderful lodgining options when visiting Swarthmore. A partilally working elevator made getting to and from the 3rd fl with luggage a hassle.
- Carrie (8/5): - A nice, calm, dignified place right by the train (but I didn’t hear the train
- Kitty (8/5): - This is a great place to stay when visiting the college. Super easy to park your car and leave when you need. It’s a seven minute walk to the admissions office. The fitness room is small but has all of the right equipment and everything works. The walls are a little thin, you can definitely hear hallway chatter and doors closing. But most people staying here are not here to party so everyone’s very respectful. The bathrooms are a little tired looking but well maintained. The property doesn’t have washers and dryers but there’s a small laundromat down the street that’s easy to walk to and has everything you need. Stop by the unassuming co-op across the street for a quick bite or drink while waiting. I loved that the hotel offered local coffee…except when they ran out before I grabbed a cup on my last day.
- Evans (10/5): Exceptional -
- hu (4/5): Broken elevator - Elevator broken, not informed when booking. Had to move luggages in stairs by ourselves.
- Annie (8/5): - Very clean, comfortable and nice.
- Emiliano (8/5): Regenerative sleep in a safe neighbourhood - It was very close to a beautiful area in Swarthmore. Too expensive. But it was the only hotel in the area so I guess that makes sense
- Joseph (8/5): - Room was good for our trip, elevator was working so all good on our trip.
- Donna (8/5): Good - Loved the restaurant and bar.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (6/5): - It is a great spot for your hotel. Very walkable, easy to commute. Clean andcattractive grounds and building
- Joseph (8/5): - Inn was well salted before ice storm, property well prepared and safety was high priority.
- Joseph (8/5): - Elevator needs to be repaired.
It has been months and carrying bags up three flights of stairs is inconvenient.
Other than this is issue, Inn is fine.
- Barbara (8/5): - Hotel room and bathroom were very nice. Close to train and college. One restaurant on site, but limited choices otherwise. A few local coffee shops, breakfast or lunch spots and one wine bar. Not ver accommodating for request for 1-hour late check-out even though hotel and parking lot were empty.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great location, good onsite restaurant and easy check in
- Paula (10/5): Nice place - Nice hotel. Room was clean. A little basic for the price per night. We were there for a large swim meet. Wish they would have put more staff on in the restaurant knowing they would be busy with the meet. Drinks at the bar were very good.
- Frances (10/5): An inn nestled on a college campus. - I do not like to stay at chain hotels, so finding the Inn a Swarthmore was exactly what I was looking for. Lobby was welcoming . The restaurant was lovely with a fireplace. Food and drink were very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
- Anne (7/5): Close to family for the holiday. Quiet and comfortable. Good Christmas breakfast - Breakfast. Restaurant had a nice fireplace great for Christmas The elevator has been out of service for some time and there was no mention of it or discount for the inconvenience
- donna (4/5): - Elevator not working. Put on third floor?
Waited at front desk. Checkin not friendly
- Delilah (8/5): Very good -
- Rosalind (10/5): - Beautiful & clean inn and friendly staff
- Shanta (10/5): - Wonderful stay at The Inn!
- Shehryar (6/5): - Liked - Very close to the Swarthmore College
Did not like: elevator did not work.
- Siddhartha (9/5): Superb -
- Shilpa (4/5): - We were unable to sleep due to uncontrollable loud guests! The staff attempted to intervene a few times but unfortunately it did not stop and there was no other solution offered. We were unable to fall asleep
Until 4 am. This was my first stay. I loved everything else about the Inn! I was disappointed that I was not offered any sort of compensation!
- susan (10/5): - Lovely boutihotwl
- Brian (9/5): comfortable and within striking distance of the city - Restaurant is a gem. Staff, food and chef 10/10
- Susan (8/5): - The room was lovely, bright and cheery with lovely art on the walls. there was plenty of counter space, and we had ample room for 3 of us in our 2-queen room. The bathroom was very nice with a lovely walk-in shower.
The elevator was broken while we were there, and taking the stairs to the second floor with luggage was not fun. I'm assuming this is temporary. We ate breakfast in the morning at the hotel's restaurant and the food was great.
- Danchi (8/5): - It is great to find this property on swarthmore campus and this was our second stay
- jaimelyn (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous property and area! Restaurant was fabulous! Friendly and accommodating staff! We hope to be back!
- Roberto (5/5): Passable - location was good, right inside the college there was no elevator working for more than 24 hours....
- Jamieson (10/5): - Excellent
- Samantha (10/5): - Great experience, only negative for some people would be the out of order elevator. I was only there for one night, so I only had one small bag to carry up the two flights of stairs.
- Carol (6/5): - Poorly designed bathroom..no hooks, surface area, trickle shower that nevertheless splattered. Closet/ wardrobe had no room for long dresses or coats.
Spacious room, easily controlled temperature, close to Railroad and campus. Convenient.
- Lisa (4/5): - The Inn is in a prime location which is great! Unfortunately the elevator was out of service. Asking for someone to help me carry my bag up several flights to my room was an inconvenience to the front desk clerk. And further, the front desk personnel were unfriendly at best, rude at worst. The Inn could be wonderful. But the reality is that it is not!
- Simon (10/5): - Immaculately clean and in good condition. Huge rooms. In hotel restaurant is superior with beautifully cooked food.
- Jennifer (3/5): Poor - Location Coffee was finished by 9AM...ona SAturday. Elevator was broken so my 80 year old mother had to take the stairs up and down to the 3rd floor. Arrived with local teens skatboarding and literally laying by the front door. In an intimidating manner. For 400 a night this did not seem worth it at all. But the location is key so they will get it!
- Jennifer (2/5): Won’t be back. - Location is the only thing. Rooms felt like a dorm. Especially at 400 a night. We arrived to several kids skateboarding and biking and literally laying at the entrance. Coffee ended around 9???? Elevator was broken all weekend. Not great for my 80 year old mother. They have you on location. Some understand they don’t need to deliver in service !!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel. - Nice hotel. The front desk could have been friendlier.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Wonderful stay! The room was clean and nicely laid out. We ate at the tavern on site and had a great dinner! The food was amazing and our waiter Jason was great!
- Susan (10/5): - Great stay
- Robert (4/5): - The elevator at the property (three story, with no ground floor rooms) was not operational for most of the stay including the end. The property staff did not seem concerned with the guests and their issues. While I was able to move my items downstairs, I believe that the hotel is out of ADA compliance and the general manager didnt seem to be to concerned.
- Thammanad (10/5): - Quiet area.
- Tracy (8/5): - The property is very nice and well maintained, with the exception of the elevator. The elevator was out of service the entire week of my stay and walking up 3 flights with luggage was a hassle.
- Erica (9/5): Superb - Location and breakfast were excellent. Elevator was broken
- XinYan (10/5): - I Like everything
- Anne (8/5): Very nice accomodation Very clean and had very comfortable beds! - Did not eat breakfast there. Had other plans The sink in the bathroom had very little pressure.
- Sydney (8/5): Very good -
