GAZI ABDUL (6/5): - A very good beachfront location but the property is old and not really well maintained. we had a bad experience with service, request for early check in was ignored, no return call from the hotel on that. So we checked in later in the evening and was told that the room is not available due to AC issue so they gave us a smaller room with a extra bed for the first night and promised to move us to our room first thing in the next morning. However upon checking with the morning staff we found out that actually someone staying at that room and they have to wait until the guest chef out before we could move in. it was disappointing so we just stayed 2 nights and cancelled the subsequent nights. Overall it wasn't really a hotel experience, I would say the experience was similar to a lodge experience.

Richard (6/5): - The staff was eager to please and sincerely tied to do their best. However, three issues really frustrated me. First, I called the hotel the day before check-in to make sure the shuttle would be ready for me when I exited the airport. When I exited the the airport, there was no shuttle for 30+ minutes. My lunch appointment cancelled on me. Second, the USB outlets in my rokm didn’t work. I was told by 3 employees it would be fixed, but it never was. Three, I killed at least TEN roaches in my room. Eight were babies, and two were grown. Unacceptable. I didn’t complain because I was already settled for the night, and I couldn’t imagine packing my things to move to another room. Would I stay here again? Probably. I liked its proximity to the beach.

Marita (2/5): - The staff are exceptional. Very friendly and effecient. The room was disgusting! There was mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. I could feel every spring in the mattress. The fridge disnt work. And the odor in the lobby area to the rooms was beyond words!!! I would take as littlw shallow breaths until i got to the reception. Steamships should be ashamed of how they expect their staff to work in that place. Its unhygienic for guests and staff. Besides the ataff, there was nothing good about staying there. I would not recommand this hotel to anyone.

Nellie (8/5): Mini Staycation - We chose this hotel for its beautiful location, privacy & space. The restaurant looked refurbished & had a really good menu choice. The ease of grabbing a coffee from the adjoining coffee shop was a bonus. Staff were ever so helpful & housekeepers so thorough. Loved the welcome from the security guards at the gate on entry & exit. Unfortunately the bed was a huge let down. Very uncomfortable & in desperate need of replacement, two long singles pushed together with no mattress topper made for an aching body the next morning.

No sugar n milk in the minibar🙄 Location is close to the beachfront. Rooms are clean but verandah was not use-able because the floor had water everywhere and was dangerous to step out to enjoy some fresh air. Enzo's pizza was ok and the restaurant was nice to have a quick kai.

Ken (2/5): Hotel incapable of handing bookings through agents - Horrible hotel. Even though it was a pre-paid booking on my end, hotel staff insisted that it could not charge the virtual credit card that hotels.com provided. I was harassed multiple times, and was asked to contact hotels.com customer service from my end. Even after the misunderstanding was resolved, the hotel manager showed no sign of apology. I had stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past, but it seems that the new management of this hotel has no interest in customer service. I cannot recommend this hotel through this website or any agent, since the staff here do not have the capacity to process bookings through agents.

But what was very disappointing was that there was no warning that the restaurant was closed for renovations and there was no way for guests to get food - even room service - at the hotel. The instruction was to go to The Crown Hotel a kilometre away and eat there. That is not so easy at night in Port Moresby for security-conscious guests without transport. It was a surprise to me that a hotel charging premium rates made no provision for even a limited room-service menu when the restaurant was closed.

Peter (10/5): - It was a very convenient place to say for my purposes - which were to catch up with places and friends in Moresby after many years of not having been here. Unfortunely the authorities have wrecked the formerly attractive Ela Beach (not a fault the hotel of course).

"Deluxe" room is very basic, view was not of beach but of a roof and wall a few feet from a window so dirty at first I thought it was opaque glass. Carpet sticky and chair cushion stained. Complimentary move (after 3 requests for a different room) was to a "suite" which was a big bedroom, not a bedroom and additional room commonly understood as meaning a suite. Towels were sticky, maybe not fully rinsed? Nice balcony once I covered the vert wet cushion on the balcony furniture. Beach view is next to main road and noisy if on balcony. Restaurant ok.

Perharps the house keeping could be much more organized if the staff are made to have a checklist every time they clean. They often forget to do many important things.

Mark (6/5): Disappointing visit to Ela Beach Hotel - Second visit to Ela Beach was not as good as the first. The roadworks our the front made it difficult to get into the hotel. The lift wasn’t working either were the main bathroom lights in my room. Finally, the amount of mosquitos in my room was enough to put me off returning.

There are 2 pools and a good (not great) restaurant. there is a large road and parking area between the new beach and conference center. So it is not a beach hotel ..you see the sea but are not ON the beach. Far from airport. I was very happy with my stay thanks to the very sweet staff.
Mikal (4/5): - I have had pleasant stays before. However, the service and hotel is unpredictable. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The room deluxe set-up is fine for a single person but could be a bit small for two people. The room appeared clean, but there were used towels in the bathroom and no toiletries/soap made be question the cleanliness. The king bed is two twins pushed together and was quite uneven. Consequently I had a poor night sleep. The room service took excruciatingly long and the food was inedible. If it had not been past 8pm by the time dinner arrived, I would have sent the food back.
Bob (10/5): I liked it - This place seems to have a large variance with the reviews, so I was a bit nervous booking the room. I came in very late (5 am) and the front desk was helpful and showed me to my room. The room was clean, large with a fridge, stove, sink, etc.) It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning and the fans both worked and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. Not the cheapest room, but PNG is expensive. I wanted to take a tour and Pamela at the from desk was a huge help. She personally contacted the place I wanted to go to. Some phone tag was involved, so nothing happened immediately. I left my room to be by the pool. When the arrangements were complete she actually went to look for me to let me know all of the information. I travel all of the time, and it is rare for this level of service. Next time I am in PNG, I will stay at Ela Beach Please note that the beach is closed with a large construction project
Glenn (6/5): Business stay in Port Moresby was OK - I havent stayed elsewhere in Port Moresby to compare, however the overall the place was OK, but probably over-priced for what you get. The hotel has modern rooms however I was placed in an older suite at the back, which wasn't great. The restaurant food was ok...but again, nothing special. Also, lots of construction work happening on the beach front opposite the hotel (reclaiming the beach front land).
