Guest Reviews
- Robert (8/5): Memorable....for the right reasons. (see above) - Quirky....if you like the eclectic style of the place.
Fortunately I do and I'll certainly stay there again. Norman on reception was absolutely superb in helping me after I had my mobile stolen on the bus ....it was after midnight and he went out of his way to phone my bank etc to cancel things.
You were a star Norman !
- Thiago (4/5): - Localização Quarto extremamente pequeno, banheiro pequeno e fora do Quarto

- Tim (3/5): Glad that we were only staying one night. - Small room. Very small bathroom.
- Kevin (7/5): - Location Needs updateing
- rob (3/5): Interesting place - Good location and quiet It was like a trip back to 80s and that was probably last time it was cleaned properly
- Michael (6/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): . - . .
- Mark (9/5): Great value quirky hotel in really good location for exploring London with really comfortable bed. - Fantastic location. Easy to find and get to from Paddington. Great quirky interior design. The bed was really really comfortable. Staff were really helpful and friendly and really good to know a real person was on duty 24hours on reception. My shower had no hot water just cold.
- Jean (8/5): Perfect for what I wanted and luggage storage a bonus. - Expected quirkyand the decor was. Metal frame bed comfortable but uncomfortable to get out of due to side frame.
- Carlos Alexander (4/5): -
- Kirsten (5/5): - Locatie dichtbij station Het bed, de matras had kapotte vering
- Mick (8/5): -
- Colin (9/5): Absolutely loved the crazy room we stayed in. - Quirkiness of the room
Always someone on reception Nothing really
- Valerio (5/5): Don't think will use the facility again - Choose this lodge for its rooms quirkiness and location. Very interesting common area and room decor. Despite the very interesting decor room unfortunately wasn't particularly clean and mattresses were wrapped in plastic (to avoid getting dirty?) which made them really uncomfortable and noisy to sleep on.
- Nearchos (1/5): - Very dirty place and not hot water
- Shrestha (1/5): -
- Neil (4/5): Quirky: - This hotel is quirky and probably quite unique. Is quite beautiful to look at. The hotel’s quirkiness means that in places it is a bit worse for wear. I stayed in a single room with a separate bathroom down a flight of stairs. This is not to my liking but this was my fault because I failed to spot this when I booked. The said bathroom was cold and the overhead heater did not work. The sink in the bedroom was damaged and had no plug. I cannot account for the larger rooms with en-suite bathrooms as I did not have access to these. It is quirky and unique and maybe this is good enough to give it a try.
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Macauley (10/5): A relaxing, welcoming stay with genuinely helpful staff and a unique atmosphere - I had a really great stay here. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially when I needed advice with travel and getting around London—they went out of their way to make everything easy and stress-free. The room was very tidy, and the hotel itself felt refreshingly different from other places I’ve stayed, in a really good way. We were also kindly allowed a little lay-in, which was much appreciated and made the stay even more relaxing. Overall, a lovely experience with genuinely helpful staff. I would definitely recommend staying here.
- Sogol (1/5): -
- joseph (6/5): - Quiet area I was only there for 1night, got what I wanted, a nights sleep and a longer lie in than normal with the 11 am checkout. I would use it again, but only for short stays.
- Samantha (8/5): -
- Carol-Anne (8/5): - The decor was Mediterranean and refreshingly different. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Very well priced for the location - a 10 minute walk from Edgware Road. Highly recommended.
- Ian (4/5): 5 years too late. - Location. Helpful staff. Room was more like a cupboard. No heating. All just a little too grubby. At £80.00 it should have been better. Not great. Just better.
- Amy (9/5): -
- Ian (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - I can honestly say what a pleasure its been, staying at the Pavilion, i will certainly be booking again for my stays in London. Staff welcoming, and friendly, the room, clean and everything you need and cozy, location absolutely perfect for all of Londons attractions. Prices, very fair. Nope, still thinking
- Mark (10/5): A very unique hotel, great service in a central location at a great price. The only negative is there is no heating so i - A very unique hotel in a good location. If you want something different this is the place for you. There is no heating just a small electric heater so the room was very cold. I see on the reviews this is something that never changes. The heater provided is way to small.
- MARTIN (6/5): -
- Emma (1/5): Very disappointing - Nothing The shower room you had to step up about 2 ft into a narrow entrance and step into the shower. Very thin so not easy for bigger people or older people. Cannot believe it meets health and safety. If you look at the picture the toilet is far lower down than the space you have to get to the shower
- Ward (7/5): - Location Beds a little uncomfortable
- Sohil (1/5): -
- Philip (8/5): Very enjoyable - Charming hotel in great central location All good
- Ben (4/5): -
- Sara (9/5): I loved it. The room and the staff were lovely. Will definitely go again. - The room was snug but had an exquisite boutique feel to it. Just GORGEOUS (and agreed by all the friends I sent pics to!) It was exactly what I needed, being alone in London for the night. I felt snug and safe and a little bit fancy! :D Luckily I'm short. I'm not sure a fully grown man would be able to sit on the toilet and close the door... (then again, in a single room, it wouldn't matter!). However, being short DID make it a little bit tricky getting into and out of the bed - once you've put your weight on the mattress, it sinks down, so is hard to climb over the iron frame! Mattress felt a little uncomfortable - I still slept, but you could feel the springs. Also could've done with a weightier blanket (in the wardrobe as an addition perhaps?)
- Jungnickel (8/5): -
- Alexander (1/5): - Nichts Alles
- Peter (10/5): A brilliant experience! - We stayed in the Casablanca room. The decoration was fantastic. The reception area is also fantastic.
- Matt (8/5): Would stay again but there it’s lots of room for improvement - Shower was excellent Only 1 light bulb worked - Too much clutter in a small room
- Anna (1/5): Room called "Honky Tonk" , hotel should be called "Shonky Tonk" - Great location for dropping off and visiting loved ones at Wilson House, Imperial College. Such a shame that the hotel is full of tatt that doesn't work, dusty musty, poor mattress quality. Basically all the same points reviewers were making in 2022! Shower not good. Everything shonky! So I assume repeat trade does not matter to this hotel. Room key security also not good. Oh and butchers chains for keeping flies of meat...why would you want these around your bed on doors etc?!
- William (1/5): It was dirty, dark, no heating and uncomfortable - Nothing It was dirty, dark, no heating and uncomfortable
- john (6/5): -
- Michael (1/5): Do not use this place. - Area was a cross between Baghdad and straight outta Compton with a splash of trainspotting.
Hotel was quirky but after checking in we went for food and had bug bites on us.
We left and returned home ruining our weekend.
Door to bathroom on the stairs wouldn’t lock.
Manager was friendly but seemed unfazed by us leaving as if it wasn’t the first time it’s happened.
- Daniela (3/5): -
- David (9/5): Loved this unusual hotel - Quirky decor and great location No lift
- Cliff (4/5): - Nothing Was moved to another hotel
- Yu Ching (7/5): -
- miss (10/5): -
- jon (4/5): Will not return! - Close to Hyde Park Hair in the bath (someone else’s!)
Tiny bathroom.
It was 30 degrees outside and the smallest fan ever!
No milk (you had to ask for it)
Quirky rooms in the hotel but ours was dark and depressing
Had to leave the key when we went out
(Security issues there!!)
- Elizabeth (10/5): Amazing room - The whole experience. We stayed in the Highland Fling room. Was done extremely well...loved it. The staff were brilliant. 10.out of 10 from us. Couldn't open the window....it was so hot that the fan wasn't powerful enough. Got 2 hours sleep.
Apart from that will stay again - hopefully in one of the other designed rooms. Loved it.
- Timothy (5/5): Convenient location, but lacking comfort - Location, ie close to Paddington, good.
Close to tube stations. Mattress was awful, with barely any cover over the springs. This gave a poor night's sleep.
- Stewart (6/5): Pleasant - The rooms are very unique and full of history, location is top notch 150 a night seems a bit much but I'm from the Midlands so may just be were cheap up here lol
- Ian (7/5): Good - My second time staying here. It's good value overall.
Staff very friendly and helpful. My room was downstairs and away from everyone else so was very quiet. I like the decor ( tho appreciate it's not everyone's taste!) Some bits are dated and dusty. The cold tap ran hot for a while until it was cool but it's a budget hotel so I'm not going to complain.
- Brian (7/5): A short but pleasant stay in a quirky hotel. - A very central location close to Paddington Station and Hyde Park. Very friendly staff. First impression is that it looks a little tired inside but I think that might be as a result of the quirky decor and furnishings, the decor might not be to everyone’s taste. There needs to be extra pillows available.
- Jemma (5/5): You get what you pay for, wasn’t awful, but wasn’t great - The owner and other staff were very polite and helpful. The room was cleaned well, bathroom was spotless as far as cleanliness The room we were in (family room) was very basic. It had 3 beds present all in a line, a very small tv and a fan and kettle. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable, mattress needs replacing. The blanket covering the bed was all ripped and very old, we took this off and slept with just the sheet which was thankfully pristine. The bath room is so small with about 2 square foot of floor space mean when stood at the sink you are also stood at the toilet and shower. No space to help a child in there if you were travelling with children.
We were also charged £25 for parking and had to pay cash (we weren’t made aware of this charge prior to travelling despite me asking multiple times in ignored emails) booking.com stated £15 for parking and didn’t specify cash only. We spent 20 minutes trying to find a cash machine as banks were closed on arrival.
- Jodie (8/5): Very good -
- Craeg (1/5): Bad -
- Mohinder (4/5): Disappointing - The room was nicely decorated, location was good, room names instead of numbers Small shower room, room was very dark, two very small single beds, with a gap in between could not reduce. Gap at back of bed could not sit against the wall. Not enough space to move around or get change. Had to keep asking for tea, milk or sugar, this was not topped up in the morning, you only got two tea bags at a time a few sachets of sugar, then you go downstairs to ask again and again only two tea bags, they took ages to bring the milk as this was put into a disposable cup so next time you want to make tea or coffee you have to go downstairs to ask for fresh milk. Rhis was a nuisance especially if you just had a shower and needed an extra cuppa.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Mr (2/5): Parvilion - Location Room was dark. Only an old blanket on the bed but did oo cean looking clean. Very ild sprung bed, very uncomfortable .No milks or bathroom soaps, shampoos, etc.
- David (7/5): Welcoming & Comfortable - The room was a great space as you can see in the photos. Eclectic! Would recommend
- Joshua (4/5): The stay was for a single Saturday night for a trip to London. Hotel was chosen for decent price (£140) and location to - Property was in a good location. Lots of restaurants and a few shops. Tube station within 5/10min walk Room was small, bathroom was tiny as was shower.
No milk with hot drinks
Sink in bedroom not bathroom
Mattress not very comfortable
- Rob (7/5): Good -
- Shaun (3/5): Dreadful hotel untidy and smelly - Not very happy could not check in till 3pm untidy outside hotel felt unsafe leaving keys open to anyone to grab from reception Everything was awful partial refund would be nice i have been unwell all week since my stay there
- Steve (3/5): Very disappointed - bed collapsed ! - Staff were great, location was great The bed collapsed in the middle of he night and I had to sleep on the floor. When I showed this to the staff the next morning they stated that this wasnt a problem.
- Jane (6/5): Highland fling - Location, quirky decor although not to everyones taste...be prepared to step into another dimension! Beds not very comfortable... bathroom tiny..no toiletries provided...no milk uht milk would have been great for a drink
- Howard (6/5): Pleasant - Very convenient for one night stay over in central london. Easy access for stations early in the morning A bit cramped.. but was a single room with single bed
- Moray (4/5): Very quirky (too quirky for us), staff were friendly but wouldn’t stay again. - Staff were friendly and parklng (£25) was easy. Room was small, mattress was very thin, walls were thin and bathroom was tiny
- Damian (2/5): Very poor -
- Steven (10/5): 10 minutes on the nearby tube to anywhere in central London. - Unbeatable value for money with location. Lovely staff.
Unique historical feel. That i didn't get to drive the diablo 😉😂
- Michael (5/5): Passable -
- Roberto (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jackie (5/5): Nice and cheap with unusual decor but bed far too uncomfortable to stay again - Location and price Uncomfortable bed. Cramped weird shower room module
- Laura (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mark (7/5): Cheap and cheerful - Reasonably priced, friendly staff Being able to take your room key out with you as reception isn’t always manned
- Shelley (2/5): Very poor - The location was good. Clean. Shower didn't work. Found a mouse trap under my bed. Room cold had a portable electric heater. Single room at the top of the property
- Neil (1/5): It can be modified and double glazing with blinds not dark wooden shutters - NOTHING AT ALL Beds felt like sleeping on planks of wood, decor, no tea or coffee in the room, no access from the street as no bell or knocker
- Booth (7/5): Good -
- Isabella (4/5): Interesting but not comfortable or good value for money. - The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the hotel is in a useful position, not too far from central London. In some ways I liked the quirky decor and shabby artistic feel to the place. The room was very small, and the en suite was so tiny you could barely move in it. The en suite was also old and shabby, the shower head holder was broken. Lighting was bad in both the room and the bathroom. The one radiator was covered by the curtain, under the single glazed badly fitting sash window. The window looked like the original one from when the house was built, which is lovely, but made it cold. The mattress was a very cheap, hardly padded open sprung one which was very noisy and uncomfortable. There was no duvet, only one blanket and a sheet (plus a second blanket which was provided when we asked for one). The decor is fun, but the portraits on the wall were a little creepy! An interesting place but definitely not worth £200 for one night.
- Alexandra (1/5): Avoid at all costs. It was disgusting. - Absolutely nothing. Please avoid at all costs It was very dirty, no hot water, hardly any cold running water, plastic mattress, complained but not manager, still awaiting a call with regards to refund, tried calling 10 times
- Lewis (7/5): Good - Very cheap and great location, friendly staff Bed hard and thin covers
- Lucy (8/5): Absolute best kind of bizarre. - We LOVED how quirky the hotel was, honestly never stayed anywhere like it. It was full of character and the absolute best kind of bizarre. If you like weird, batpoop crazy then this is the hotel for you. Iit was really clean and comfortable too The only thing I really didn't like was the fact you have to leave your key if you leave the hotel to go out.... but other than that, no complaints at all
- Myooressh (8/5): A good stay overall and I’d be keen to stay in one of the other rooms on another occasion. I felt the price was steep c - Well located near Paddington and a couple of minutes walk to Edgware Road.
The rooms all have their own theme which is a quirky and interesting touch. Must be one of, if not the only hotel in this area that has this type of selling point.
Reception were friendly and the hotel was quiet. Nothing was negative as such but the bedding was a bit thin with all sheets and think blankets - no duvets. The temperate of the room was on the cold side, considering it was December - and I couldn’t locate any heating. The TV was also tiny. The bathroom is also very small with the sink located in the corner of the room but I had no problem with this - it all adds to the character.
- Joyce (5/5): Great location and price. Clean room. Only a very small portable heater that I didn’t find until 3:30 am - Location Room was too cold. Had to ask for help operating the shower. Had to ask for milk for tea
- Catherine (1/5): Terrible - The location was good for Tube links to the centre Couldnt check in at 3pm as it says.
Room was freezing cold, the heating hadn’t been on, when I asked them to heat it up they turned it up to full heat but as it hadn’t been on there wasn’t enough time to heat. Shower room/ toilet tiny, and wouldn’t even consider having a shower as it was as cold as a fridge.
Room was really dark.
TV the size of a postage stamp.
Mattress really thin and uncomfortable.
Never seemed to be anyone working there, “reception” unmanned.
- Thomas (4/5): Disappointing - location. Close to tube station. I stayed in a room with a single bed. Only when I arrived I was told the bathroom wasn’t within the room and I had to walk down the corridor to use the toilet and shower. The bed was very noisy and creeks. I was cold in the night, no extra bedding in the wardrobe. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
- David (6/5): Correct for its price - Clean, quiet, well-located, hot water, a small heater in the room My bed was next to a single-pane window which had not been modernised, so there was a draught.
- Kelly (7/5): Good -
- Simon (8/5): Crazy looking hotel in a amazing location. - Location was convenient for my business meeting. Nice staff and cool and crazy looking hotel. Only the one thing was a shower tap was hard to turn... Every else was great.
- Carl (1/5): Wouldn’t ever bother again, disgusting - Location only and absolutely nothing else No staff to open the hotel on time, parking spaces full of rubbish and skips, as for the room itself it was disgusting, sheets are stained yellow, pillows were yellow and brown, old army style grey scratchy blankets and bed throws were just as yellow as the rest of the bedding, bed was like sleeping on a brick, toilet and shower clean but not working very well, quirky deco throughout people can live with but dirty old bedding and carpets are just wrong! We came back to our room for the night about 11pm and left first thing in the morning feeling dirty and in pain from the awful bed
- Katie (7/5): Good -
- Craig (1/5): Bad -
- Kelly (4/5): Quirky hotel but in need of a deep clean..and re-vamp. - Location is great, near to coffee shops/train station and Hyde park. Check in is simple, easy to find hotel. The room was very unclean, the bed spread needs to go to a dry cleaners, stains everywhere. The room was so cold, single pane glass, heating on then turned off in the morning and no access to control it. Bathroom clean but so small. Tea and coffee but no milk and table to boil the kettle. Light switches to turn on bed lamps half way up the wall. Batteries in remote for TV dead. Dusty, cold and not a nice space to sleep in. Tired furniture and sinking mattresses.
- Vlash (5/5): I would look somewhere else. - The vintage model The cleanliness. The bed covers had stains. The sheets smelled. The hotel was not even open at 3 pm. Had to wait at another place.
- Anastasiia (4/5): Very interesting design, but uncomfortable stay - Very unique design of the hotel, each room has its own theme - you feel a little like you are at the museum. Good location. Very helpful staff. It was possible to live the luggage, which was a big advantage. Reception 24 hours. The smallest bathroom I ever saw. The sink inside the shower. Water was flowing very badly, no shower gel or shampoo. The toilet wasn't flashing, so I spent 20 minutes repairing it. No garbage bin in the bathroom (there's one in the room). The kettle should have been placed on the floor to be close enough to the socket. The bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, it's like it had no matrass at all.
