Guest Reviews
- Andrew (4/5): Probably Better Options - The rooms are very small. They need new towels and sheets. They looked old and used for an extended period of time. My biggest issue was the air conditioner timing out every hour despite putting a timer on the unit. Basically woke up every hour to restart it since it was super hot in the room. The location was decent and the staff was friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Food is mediocre
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Breakfast is Mediocre
- Ric (10/5): - A great central location for exploring the city of Cebu in the Philippines!
- Christopher (10/5): - Nice place for the price
- Andres (10/5): - Very quiet
- Michael (8/5): - good price for decent property
- Troy John (8/5): - The hotel is just at the heart of the city. Perfect location
- Jason (8/5): - Was a decent stay, Aircon worked good hot water staff was welcoming and friendly. Catch moto around city for around 60 ph peso
- Michael J (10/5): - Great staff and location. Very quiet
- Lester (10/5): - It was an awesome stay and the staff was amazing
- Timothy (10/5): - Room was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom very clean and tidy
- Drew (8/5): Not exactly as advertised - First the airport shuttle is a pay service. Once i found that out i just took a cab. I had over 24 hours travel. I need to rest and recooperate before the next leg of my trip. The hotel was a perfect to shower, sleep, and move on. The staff was very friendly and helpful with planning the next stage of my trip. Other than the misleading car service amenity my only other complaint was the toilet was so close to the shower wall i had to sit at an angle. The neighborhood is under construction everywhere so it looks rough but i went for a walk to the 7-11 at 4am and was perfectly safe.
- tyler (6/5): - Area is run down
- Fred (10/5): - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My stay at this hotel has been nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I arrived on April 10, 2024, I have been met with warmth and kindness from every member of the staff. The management and all employees go above and beyond to ensure a delightful experience. Their efficiency and attentiveness are truly commendable. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so wonderful!
- Dustin (10/5): - Helpful kind staff, always available. Rooms decent though a bit dated. At end of an alley in somewhat dirty part of town.
- Erik (10/5): - This is a great budget hotel. No frills but decent internet. Rooms are small but clean.
- Berns (8/5): - Nice and clean!
- Reywin (10/5): - Awesome staffs
- Rosa Amelia (10/5): - Great location to see city tourist places
- Herb (10/5): - We were surprised. Very comfy lounge area, a Thai restaurant, and is walkable to the capital, Cebu Doctors, Robinson Frente, and other stores and food. Fun area with some local pinoy pub pool halls. Lots of fun mostly young 20s in the nearby pub. Close by Karioki place called "Open Mic" if you like.
- Matthew (10/5): Kindest People...Best value in Cebu City - I could write a book about how much I love Uncle Tom's Cabin and the team there. First of all, the hotel staff are very generous in every way. Some places in Cebu City are very cheap about everything, as I learned the hard way. The hotel is also very clean and lovely. It is rated 3 stars (4.2 on google: well deserved) and it is priced that way, but it exceeded that rating immensely. Best value ever! Food and drinks are cheaper than other places I'd stayed in CC as well. Also, you'll be impressed by the lobby and your room if you've compared it to other places in CC. Further, it is short walking to distance to all the action of Fuente Circle, but surprisingly quiet, situated at the end of a side street. Other hotels in the area don't combine those last 2 facts.
All that said, it is the people (staff) of UTC cabin that won my heart. From the doormen and cleaners, to the hotel reception/front desk team, the management, and security (much love fellas!), you will truly feel the warm and heart of the Filipino people at UTC.
Many thanks to you all! I won't soon forget my near 2 weeks there. I wish you all the vest best. Hope to enjoy your hotel and company again some day!
- Kevan (10/5): - Excellent service. Excellent breakfast
- Gary (6/5): Uncle Tom’s - Half of breakfast choice unavailable. Nothing in the bar available despite being on show. Some staff not not very helpful - some great.
A little bit out of the way… no real saving.
- Anonymous (8/5): - Second time and consistent with previous stay. Considering that when I booked thru Expedia, they were considerate because my friend stayed with me and gave us couple breakfast coupons as I booked a double room as well tho original booking would not alow to list my friend's name as not traveling with me with airline booked together.
- Mercedes (10/5): Excellent Service - All personnel are very professional in our stay is as always excellent.
- St.Joe (8/5): - Good location though hard to find the right alley that leads up to it. Staff were very nice and helpful.
Food in restaurant was OK but small portions and a bit more expensive than restaurants in the neighborhood.
In my room the toilet was touching the shower partition and could not sit fully on toilet - always one cheek off. Also most Filipino hotels has a butt hose sprayer - my room did not have that.
Good bed and good WFI. Over all it is good location and good price when booked via the internet - twice as high if you walk in and ask for a room.
- Carlos (8/5): Great stay, but poor food options - Everything is okay except the free breakfast, lots of opportunities for them to improve in their dining experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Accessible and cost. Good place to live away from home.
- Khalid (2/5): Very bad - Very bad at all. You shout visit it to see.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient, location price service and good internet
- Verified traveler (10/5): - comfortable stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy places in Cebu - The place was good and well maintained but rather hard to find since its roads are a bit secluded.
- Finn7ao (8/5): - The best thing is the price . The worst thing is the breakfast and the dinning menu
- jagg (10/5): - I like the concept of the hotel. Dislike having to walk a quarter mile to get a taxi.
- Russell (8/5): cebu vacation - was a nice reasonable hotel, nothing fancy but close to malls ect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is at the end of a lane way and not widely known by taxi drivers. The staff were very nice. The rooms were clean but a bit small. Our room had coloured lights just outside the window that were on each night, but that was not overly bothersome. The air con was loud but you got used to you. I didn't have any trouble sleeping.
Breakfast was included. The nice restaurants are across the Osmena Boulevard, but the walk is short. We are returning to Cebu City soon and my daughter would like to go somewhere else, but I'd be happy to return if we can't find anywhere else suitable.
- James (10/5): - Very enjoyable.
- Ironman (10/5): - I booked this hotel for my parents for a week. I was amazed by how friendly the staff was. The place was clean and close to many restaurants and grocery stores. The breakfast which was included in our reservation was great with so many options to order. I would use this same hotel for my next visit to Cebu.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good price good service ok location
Noise from outside and other units was a bit excessive
I was pleased they arrange airport transfers
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All was good. I don’t really have anything else to say about it. It was a decent place for 30 bones a night.
- Liezl (8/5): I recommend this place - I really like the place. Quite and clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Accessibility and affordable. Also the place is safe.
- Jesse (10/5): Such a good value! - Great service and great breakfast, it was definitely better than we expected and the service staff were lovely! I would absolutely stay here again!
- Nhu (10/5): Fantastic valued hotel down hidden street. - Fantastic value for a solo traveler - for the typical price of a hostel bed, you get your own private room with a clean bathroom (and separate shower stall! In Asia! Imagine!). Breakfast was also very good, though it isn't buffet but instead a selection of typical, authentic Filipino breakfast. It actually kept me full until early dinner time.
Only downside is the location - while it is very central Cebu, it is also down an alley, so a bit inconvenient - ahout a 10 min walk from any jeepney route, so you may end up taking more Grabs if you're lazy like me, haha. There were alzo neighborhood chickens that started croaking at like, 8 in the morning, but I went back to sleep anyway.
- Carl Thaddeus (10/5): THE PRICE IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! - Nice accommodation. The facilities were okay and it was really affordable :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Christmas time... - Peaceful and very central location.
- Andre' Dominique (10/5): - Uncle Tom's Cabin is near the business district of Cebu, in which made us easy to locate the place. Also, the staff was accommodating and let us stay one hour earlier from the original accommodation time because we arrived too early at the airport. Also, we are assured that the rooms are secured because they have a card-lock system. The room is clean, including the bathroom.
- MarkSeiter (8/5): - Uncle Toms Cabin was a really nice place, the staff are always willing to help, no matter what you ask. The room was small, with no fridge, but there was always plenty of hot water, and house keeping kept it very clean. Also it is a little far to walk everywhere, and in the mornings you get woken up to roosters crowing. All in all it was a great value, and the breakfast was awesome.
- Nehry (8/5): - Nice hotel close to City and nearby carinderia which is a source of yummy and affordable food.
- LJ (10/5): - Exactly the place I was looking for: away from the highway, simple but comfortable, and affordable. The pillows are the best. The place is modern enough. Wifi is accessible in the rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Your stay is worth your money - Food is good, love the free breakfast. Staff service is good too.
- David (8/5): - Great room for the price.
- James (10/5): - Very good hotel. We stay here often.
- Rey (8/5): - For its price it’s excellent but I can’t rate it at 5. For certain reasons. If they could have a refrigirator and a kettle for hot water . Then it could have been a 5
- DAVID (6/5): 4th visit - My fourth visit to Uncle Tom's Cabin.Usual attentive porter apon arrive, just slight criticism of lady on reception,no please or thank you.We were checked in 90 mins early but unfortunately after a few days I found the on going works to install a second elevator which affected only those in one part of the hotel, which just happened to be right outside our rooms window. On the 6th night I asked to be moved to a room away from noise as it was going on til 10pm.So if you get rooms ending in 11 you may be affected.Apart from that we had regular room cleaning and nice tasty breakfast of the usual good standard.Keep up the standards UTC
- HH (8/5): - Ok hotel. Set menu breakfast. Near 7-11. Only complaint was the stain on the sheets.
- IRVIN (8/5): Nice place to stay - The experience was really good and the people working were nice.
- keo (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel , very clean and good value .good location, friendly staff
- Keith (8/5): NIce 3 star value. - Nice for a 3 star hotel. Not a lot around the hotel but places are within walking distance.
- Sec (6/5): - It was our 3rd stay in the hotel. First & second was satisfying no doubt the hotel received a very high rating. But I got disappointed during our 3rd stay as on the 1st night I was so distracted of the noise (dripping sound) fljust right outside the window. 2nd night in different room I noticed a bit of bedsheet stains until we started scratching (seems like the bedsheet wasn't changed) so disgusting & was restless in the morning. And so I noticed exhaust fan wasn't working.. :-((
- Selia (8/5): - Location and facilities are as described. Hotel staff are nice and helpful. Very good price for what we get.
- Daniel (10/5): - Very nice and modest hotel. Decent location. Good food from the hotel restaurant. And the staff are incredible. I will return here.
- Marlon (10/5): Excellent - The hotel is nice. The room that I stay is spacious and comfortable bed.I will stay again in the near future.
- Chris (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel is. The room is tiny, but I live in Japan so thats not a big deal. The lobby is very nice, and the staff is very helpful.
- Shearry (8/5): Nice Hotel, comfy - Staff is great, breakfast is available, clean too.
- Go (8/5): - Very nice hotel near restaurants and shopping and major hospital, in a quiet neighborhood.
- Kelvin (10/5): make it your place for rest - great place for a short stay, could have a better breakfast. also, toilet seats are placed in awkwardly in the bathroom. even my girlfriend who is small sized was just able to barely fit on the seat due to positioning. other than that, great place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place to stay in Cebu - This is a lovely place to stay and it's very convenient. Very clean but the rooms are small. Ideal for two people but not for three people.
- Odranoel (8/5): Reasonable :) - Staff is a big plus, very courteous and polite people. Breakfast was decent and for the hotel rate, I think it’s reaso.
- Demetri (8/5): Very Good - The cleaness hotel in town but they have no refrigerator.
- Verified traveler (10/5): very accommodating hotel staff - nice experience overall. although the free complimentary water was during the first day only, they gave me another one or two upon my request to the lobby.
- LL (6/5): - Bathroom hot water heater is not working. Very disappointing. Bedsheet was not changed when I check in. Can smell ointment on the pilliow and blanket which must be from previous occupants. I need an explanation an apology from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Okay budget hotel in Uptown Cebu - Free (fixed menu limited) breakfast, big comfortable bed, quiet working A/C, very good staff, security & Lobby/ hanging out area. But no refrigerator. Big with the backpacking crowd.
- Stan Mykel (10/5): One of the Best Hotel in Cebu. - Im not usually checking in hotels. But based on my experiences in the hotels I have been, this is so far the best hotel I have stayed. Not only that the price is so affordable, but they have an excellent service and comfort. I would love to book on this hotel for future travels. 100/100
- Roldan (10/5): Nice yet affordable. - I stayed in Cebu for quite long and was travelling by the nearby islands. This place was quite useful as a homebase where I leave my main larger luggage. It’s a lot cheaper and safer too. Why opt for an expensive hotel when you’re just gonna leave it anyway.
My room was kept tidy. Everything you need is there, tv plus a fast wifi! There is no pool but it’s ok as half of the time I was away in different islands near Cebu.
Free breakfast could do a lot better with bigger serving next time. But you can always order more if you like! Another thing was the shower, it would be nice if it had more pressure on it. Otherwise, the hot shower was working perfectly. Very nice experience. I will definitely consider this budget hotel for my next visit!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Roaches and roosters - Located in a poor residential area and roosters croaking all night and day! Worst part was finding a cockaroach HUGE ROACH!!!!! Under my wife’s pillow!!!! I changed room but we both still felt horrible bc rooms were never that clean to begin with. Moths and mosquitoes in both rooms we stayed. Next day we booked radisson Blu which was 10 times this hotel but my wife was so traumatized I had to make it up to her and stayed there for rest of the trip. AVOID! Uncle Tom bc this uncle is horrible! Service wasn’t great bc no sincere apologies finding a roach on her pillow. Workers talking their languages among themselves when you complain about the event that almost ruined our trip.
- John (10/5): Great hotel and amazing price - Nice hotel amazing staff really clean and nice rooms
- Shir (10/5): GREAT!! - We had a good time there. Benjamin from the resturant was really nice (gave us hot water after the resturant closed)
There is 7/11 close by.
Great breakfast.
Cable TV
Hot water in the shower
Nice staff
Comfortable beds.
Cheaper to book on expefia then on site
- Verified traveler (8/5): Small Cabin - I stayed with them twice when I was in Cebu and I must say the experience was pleasing. The hotel’s location is near in our branch in Cebu and the price range is within our budget. The facilities and staff were excellent. With all of them being checked on our list our company decided that Uncle Tom’s will be our regular hotel in Cebu both for the management and employees alike.
- Dawson (8/5): - Folks at the desk were very friendly & knowledgeable. Helped us book an extended Uber to check out the Taoist temple & visit Kawasan falls last minute. Very respectful & made us feel at home.
- Thomas (10/5): Excellent - Excellent value for money. Excellent breakfast served with professional staff. Good location for bars and restaurants. Helpful staff.
The only little negative is that the grout in the shower area needs cleaned.
Overall, excellent place to stay.
- Bernd (8/5): - We had a great time there, a friendly and caring staff made our stay comfortable.
- James (10/5): Top value - For the price it was well above expectations..so so cheap n even get a free breakfast as well UNBELIEVABLE
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent Hotel - The hotel was nice but the food was terrible, the room was incredibly small and there were ants in my room. The hot water tool in the shower was broken and the staff fixed it within 5 minutes. The staff were extremely friendly and addressed my problems right away. The area was decent and within walking distance to restaurants and the Robinson mall.
- Dee (10/5): Excellent value for money! - This hotel is modern, clean & the room has everything u need. The included breakfast was good & staff is very friendly. Great value for money!
- Madjid (6/5): Inexpensive, fair value and fine location - Booked a single room and was first given a real tiny room with a very narrow single bed, luckily I returned to the reception to plead for a more "reasonable" space and I was lucky enough to be moved to a "a more reasonable" single room by the friendly staff. This hotel has definite two strong points: (1) Good Wifi (but it did not work on the morning I was checking out), (2) Very good Cable TV (ample international channels + flat screen tv). Included breakfast is rather frugal with "instant coffee".
- Benson (8/5): Good hotel good service - Place was a bit hard to find but place is a bit near to shopping area. Property was well maintained and cleaned. Breakfast was basic but good
- Denmark (10/5): - It was a nice cozy hotel, feels fresh and vibrant. I had a very relaxing stay. Wish they had gym facilities, that would have really made my stay complete.
- anthony (8/5): - great value for the price
- Texashighway (8/5): Reasonable price in a good location - I enjoyed my stay very much. It is very convenient located close to Fuente Circle and many restaurants and shopping centers. The breakfast was included in my rate and was adequate. Housekeeping was good and staff was friendly.
- James (10/5): Big emprovement - The restaurant is greatly improved, the service is great the food is excellent and hot,
the soft music adds a class c touch. The front desk service is excellent and the item needing service are promptly corrected.
- Maurice (8/5): Good value, but unprofessional staff - I had a nice stay overall. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating when asked for something or information, but they were very unprofessional. My room was not always kept clean and I constantly had to ask for towels.
On the day of my checkout at 6 am, a young lady receptionist was listening was singing along to loud music while another male at the front desk attended to me. She ignored me completely and kept on sunshiny outloud.
- John (10/5): Great value hote - My second time here, just as pleasant as the first.
My Room was clean, efficient and modern. Bathroom was clean and hot water worked well.
Bed was ok as well. Free breakfast was the icing on the cake.
I would definitely stay here again.
- SIMON (4/5): No good for full size people / non asians - I have to say the staff are awesome and the wifi is fiber optic 40mbs download speed! But as a solo traveller I booked a single - big mistake - I was too big for the bed and the single rooms are all the same and have no natural light coming in - very depressing. I tried to upgrade but they are waiting for this opportunity and ramp up the charge to double what you already paid.. The 'free' breakfast is tasty but is the size you would give to a 5 year old not a grown person. The toilet is so close to the wall you cannot sit in the correct position. Would recommend to small people for no more than one night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice location - In a nice area of Cebu, the rooms are tiny but clean and great value for money. The breakfast that's included is also really good. I'd definitely stay here again when next in Cebu
- Raquel (8/5): Recommendable - Great value for what you pay for
- Manny Pakyaw (8/5): Booking early, save much. - Very close to the heart of the city, Uptown area they call it, stands a hotel perfect for budget seekers. For three days and two nights, I only had to pay PHP 1,700.00 - roughly $35! All this for a very clean room, good aircon, soft bed, H/C showers. Did I mention the the good internet(got a ping of 35 while playing an online game) and all you can eat ham, eggs, deep fried fish, rice, and toast!
On the very minor downside, I don't get the room windows. Instead of facing out for a view, you get to see your neighbors windows, and them inside, a few feet away. Double curtains, however, gives you enough privacy. Also my room smells like the previous occupant was smoking inside the room...or is it the detergent they've used? Lastly, the lively colored hotel sits at the end of a residential road. When you go out for a walk, you have to pass by and contend with the neighborhood dogs (in the Philippines, don't they close the residence gates at least?) sniffing your butt. Don't bite me dog, don't bite me...
All in all, though, it was a very wonderful stay, for the price vs the wondeful amenities was the winner in all of these. Come on, 3 days and 2 nights for 35 bucks. A tip though, you just have to book in advance. The earlier booking, the cheaper.
- Richard (8/5): Great stay - shame about the very end. - ON the whole the stay was excellent. I booked an extra night for my fiancee so she could make her way home comfortable the following day. She told me there was a problem and she was being asked to pay for the room I had already paid for. I called the hotel and dealt with it. They told me they didn't receive any emaill from Hotels.com to confirm the room. I forwarded the confirmation to my fiancee and it was all ok in the end. That was such a shame because it spoilt the end of a nice stay in a clean and friendly hotel that I would recommend to anyone. I thought it was relevant to point this problem because of its significance.
- Nina (10/5): It was nice - It was a nice stay. And i will definitely stay there again.
