Guest Reviews

- Schulcz (10/5): 100% recommend. Beautiful small hotel, great location, friendly management. - So close to KLA, but so quiet and relaxing, you forget the city exists. This property is on a side road with no traffic, and this is wonderful. The property was well kept and very beautiful. The staff was very attentive and we lacked nothing. Food was satisfying, and the pool was excellent. I have no negatives. We enjoyed our stay.
- MICHAEL (9/5): Excellent as always. -
- chiel (9/5): - had a wonderful stay! the view is great and the hospitality is very good
- Namanya (8/5): -
- patricia (8/5): Would definitely go back - Was peaceful Went on a rainy day , so wet throughout, but other than that was good
- Marlene (8/5): -

- MICHAEL (10/5): Excellent place. Perfect to unplug and relax. - The friendly staff,. The views of the lake The building site next door was noisy but that’s not the hotels fault and it will soon end .

- Marc (9/5): Aanrader.

- Abba Otieno (10/5): Hidden gem in Kampala - Beautiful, scenic and quiet, right on the shores of the lake. Food was lovely and the staff were warm and welcoming.
- Nicola (5/5): Beautiful location. Enjoyed nature but not comfortable, was glad to leave. - Beautiful location on the edge of lake Victoria. Wonderful for bird watching, quiet and tranquil. Beautiful pool area.
Fresh lemongrass tea.
Lovely security guard. Choice of food limited and expensive. Hardly any vegetarian or vegan choices. Not many traditional choices like matoke and gnuts.
The room we stayed in by the pond was not good. The quilt was mouldy when I pulled back quilt cover.
After 7pm we were in complete darkness except two tiny bedside lamps which gave off barely any light whatsoever. Walking to toilet in night in pitch darkness. Had to use torch. Asked for more lamps and was brought a very old and broken one. Plus lead not long enough to light middle of floor.
Sloping floor.
Nowhere to cook or store food.
- Victoria (6/5): Nice staff, room could’ve been swept & was a drainage issue- bit smelly, great nighttime noises on the lake! -
- Victoria (7/5): Wonderful location on Lake Victoria with great views & a nice pool & delicious food! - The location right on Lake Victoria with a plethora of birds on the property.
The pool is a great place to relax and refresh.
The food options are wonderful.
There are activities to do right from the lodge.
They have a lovely, calm cat, who hangs around. Our room had no windows that could open so that room was so hot so we had to leave the door open at night to be able to sleep.
There are not enough lounge chairs around the pool for the number of guests.
- Hristina (3/5): Great location and food, but wouldn’t spend the night there. - The manager, Peter, answered my questions on booking promptly and helped me organise transport from the airport. The food was great, due to an amazing cook, especially good was the fish and the location is breathtaking. No door on the bathroom, broken/ non functional fan, loud - noises coming from the first floor, a bed with metal springs poking into my back. What I disliked the most is that when I asked for them to help me fix these problems I was told someone will take a look but no one did, and from the looks of the place I assume no one will in the future either.
- Neil (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely location overlooking the lake.
Friendly staff
They stored my bicycle and luggage.
Decent food. May have been nice 20 years ago but rooms are dated, grubby, too hot and generally run down.
I found rat droppings on my window sill on my return visit (only returned as they had my luggage). The curtains were old a filthy and it smelled.
Communication is difficult. They didn’t reply to messages or WhatsApp’s.
Not just this but it’s also expensive.
Can’t believe it’s showing a rating of over 8 on booking to be honest.
The owners need to seriously up their game and invest before the place is beyond saving.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Primrose (5/5): Fair - Restaurant service and food The bed so so uncomfortable
No internet provided
No Value for money
- Akderick (9/5): Superb -
- Cheryl (9/5): Love the property, people, food. A peaceful and safe place to stay! - The most beautiful place to wake up to in Kampala. Beautiful grounds, good food, beautiful pool. The people are the best! It’s time for softer mattresses. But other than that there is nothing
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable - The location is stunning! Lots of bird life and greenery around. The dinner food was delicious! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The lunch food was average and the tower room was small, there was no door to the shower and the room was very hot and stuffy with only a very small fan provided. I believe its the budget room as the other rooms we walked past looked lovely inside.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was fine and the staff were nice. Nice locatin and a nice alternative to geting away from kampala without a long drive. The beds were a little small.
- Kristen (7/5): A beautiful and peaceful retreat. - Convenience
Peaceful
Staff are wonderful We booked the unit with two separate bedrooms via booking.com that we stayed in this past Feb. However, when we arrived we discovered that unit has a long term renter in it and was not available. I was visiting with my non-biological Ugandan son, and preferred to have two bedrooms, not just two beds.
- Clara (10/5): Green heaven in Kampala - Amazing environment, quiet away from business of Kampala, a great haven. My room was very nice, food was great, sitting by lake in mornings or evenings was memorable. Internet connection was good. So many species of birds can be spotted. Location is good if you can travel on a boda which take 20-30 min to town A power cut on first night but that is part of Uganda. Food service is a bit slow for dinner but they cook from scratch
- Menah (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah-jane (9/5): Superb -
- Florence (10/5): Very restful, highlight was the boat trip on the lake at sunset! - Next to lake Victoria, great bird watching You must drive through Kampala to get in or out !
- Jake (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Abosulte mus stay for 2 days and 2 nights! - Best place I´ve slept in Uganda! - To me that was the extreme highlight if we are talking about accomodation on my trip through Uganda. - It is direclty located at the Victoria lake! - I was at this time the only guest and got an upgrade w/o extra payment. I had a large room, more like an appartment - first floor, living room with 2 (!) sofas (no TV - not necessary, outside it is much more interesting! - Believe it!) - - small kitchen, nice bathroom, second floor sleeping room, one singel bed, one doulbe bed. good matress, 230 Volt plus local 120 Volt (!) Froom the sleeping room as well as from the living room, direct view onto Victoria lake! - Large garden with an artifical pool plus a nature pool! - Very good breakfast, very good international kitchen a la carte! - Luckily the monkeys - approx. 20 (!) were around - which are living right and left from the hotel in the mangroves. - To me it is a very must go for 2 days and 2 nights! Depends on how you see it. - If you really want to to go to the centre of Kampala, you´re are far away!
But the have a recommandation for a taxi driver, who charges very fare rates, is very friendly and very helpful, and if he should drop you and wait for2 hours, he will do (just give him an extra tip!)
- Haftom (5/5): Passable - i took room at tower view but something is bad Noise hole night at top of the buliding Please fix that one
- Ingrid (4/5): Average - The towel had a weird scent , the pool was dirty . Poor service the waiters and waitresses are hard to find. It’s had to get help from reception I wasn’t assisted ,no provision of a number to call incase of emergency. Wasn’t provided with a WiFi code generally it’s like I wasn’t welcome didn’t like the experience
- Douglas (9/5): I had a great time - wonderful Everything was on point.
- Garas (8/5): Very good - I liked the tranquility and the view. The food was OK, but the facility is really good. room, restaurant, pool, and pathways, everything met my expectations.
The staff are very friendly and helpful all the time. I know this is nature, but the noise from the insects and frogs by the lake was very loud at night.
There was a minor misunderstanding about the rooms and sizes, but things got sorted out at the Lodge with the receptionist.
- Maya (8/5): Very good - The manager of the hotel was so helpfull!
- Robert (10/5): A piece of heaven in Kampala - The lodge has a great view of the lake, nice facilities for relaxing and good food while still being close to Kampala. The staff was very kind, as well as the cat. The breakfast is very good for 10usd, you get eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits, juice, tea/coffee, veggies, cereal, yogurt and bread. We let the staff know in advance what we would like to eat and at what time, so we never got the issue of waiting for the food for a long time. The pool is very nice as well, nice sitting areas outside. We stayed in the tower room, which is big enough for two. It has great views. The wifi was working very well. The also offer a couple of activities from the lodge. I previously did the walking tour and my friends the bicycle tour, and we all loved it. This only applies to the two room: while the tower room is a studio it would be nice to at least have a shower curtain between the bathroom and bedroom area to add a little bit of intimacy.
Perhaps the lodge could improve the cleanliness of its lake shores, there was plastic bottles and other type of trash on the lodge shore. But that is a reality in a lot of places.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): We would stay again. - Very good, especially the yoghurt and brown toast. There was no access to the balcony outside our room. We wanted somewhere to sit outside easily reached from the room. A shame as this existed in some o f the other rooms.
- Gwendolyn (9/5): Superb - Second time staying here. Lush grounds, beautiful view of the lake, and soothing sounds of frogs and birds. Feels like being out in nature even though you're technically still in Kampala. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and a good value for the money. Good breakfast. Nothing
- Doreen (8/5): Very good -
- Prisca (9/5): Superb - Everything was 98% Nothing
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning property on lake Victoria with a gorgeous and lush garden and pool! Rooms were extremely spacious and unique. Water pressure was lovely and water was HOT and nice !! Seriously Great staff and security and overall beautiful property.
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Doreen (8/5): Perfect escape from hectic Kampala. - Lovely lodge with great view. We booked the loft apartment and enjoyed the view of a spectacular sunrise from the bed through large windows. The staff is friendly and the food is good.
- Carolyn (7/5): Beautiful Haven - The appartment was beautiful, especially the courtyard.
- Josephine (10/5): A needed rest on the water in a green oasis with beautiful sunsets and a friendly, warm atmosphere. - The property is very beautiful, green, and on the water. It's off the beaten path and feels like an oasis in the middle of the bustling Kampala. The folks that work at the location are all friendly, warm, and accommodating. It's quiet and serene during the days and the sunsets are unmatched overlooking Lake Victoria. The pool is beautiful and feels like you're swimming in nature heaven. It's a truly beautiful location and there's small details that add a nice touch. The SNUG, the properties restaurant and bar, is a really cute Irish pub vibe with couches and a mini-library available. It's a very sweet place. Worth noting that it gets really loud at night. I'm not sure what animal comes out and makes a loud squacking sound but if you're a light sleeper it may not be for you or make sure to bring supplies for blocking the sound. Everything runs on Ugandan time (which means not on time) so make sure to plan ahead when ordering a car or heading out. It's not centrally located, which is just a warning. The roads close and change all the time so it's not always easy to find with a driver and it's necessary to be on top of the driver charges, because them searching for the hotel will rack up.
- Henk (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Very welcoming by the lovely host Joan.
The service was great! Special thanks to Sophia who arranged our meals and activities. Make sure not to miss on some of the best pizza made by chef Nancy.
Great vibes in the tree house for nature lovers !
Enjoyed our anniversary weekend 💕
- Georg (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place to stay. A little bit outside of the city center but a quite place to chill after visiting the city center. I recommend it!
- Marguerite (4/5): Not what we expected for money paid. - Not a lot. Except the restaurant food was good. No cleaning unless we asked (not told). Change of towels, cold water until complained. Not the location of room we were expecting. No patio or view. Very disappointed.
- Ndagire (8/5): Enjoyed my stay - Place is really beautiful with really nice staff (Janet in particular was so helpful) The tree house was extremely cold so could maybe use thicker bed covers 🥹
- Aigerim (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillip (7/5): Peaceful location with beautiful views. - The location was incredible with beautiful views of Lake Victoria. Lovely grounds with incredible bird life. The fan in the room did not blow directly into the bedroom so it was a bit warm. Wi Fi was problamatic.
- Karina (9/5): Wonderful retreat in beautiful natural surroundings - Fantastic location on the lake. A beautiful garden with trees full of birds and flowers. A quiet environment to work, read, and swim. Lovely staff!
- Georgia (9/5): Highly recommend - Beautiful location. Friendly and attentive staff. Very relaxing.
- Mark (6/5): Yellow Haven experience - The pool
The view
The cavern. Love it.
The honey braised ribs🥺🥺🥺🥺
The pond
The open lake upfront.
I loved it all. I hated 1 thing only. The barista with short dreads has a nasty attitude. Doesn't weigh her responses before speaking. Maybe a little staff training to......polish the rough edges if you know what I mean.
The toilet system in the cavern is really weird. I get that it's meant to be cave like but, it can't flush properly. Needs to be changed.
- Alastair (7/5): Great view, zero internet, property not properly managed - Spectacular view Parts of the garden have not been cleared of trash. The kitchen is lacking some basics, such as wooden spoons and a cutting board.
There was an extremely noisy group staying on one of the nights and the staff did nothing to tell them to keep the noise down.
If you need internet for remote working, forget it - there is zero internet access.
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (5/5): We did not get what we booked! - Great location, nice architecture, nice staff and good food. We booked a family appartment for 2 days, but upon checking in we were given 2 seperate appartments (organisational faillure?). One of those (Wax Bill) wasn't really an appartment, because thete were no kichen facilities and yhere was no fridge. Our 2 kids (10 and 14) were supposed to stay in The Cave, a 'cave like' 2 pers. room with private deck. Since our kids were disappointed not to stay with us and because the found the Cave a bit strange, they stayed with us in the 2nd room. The next morning I discussed this with Peter, the manager, and told him that we were planning to use the private deck of the Cave during day time then. He agreed and told me that it was al for the same price as stipulated at our booking.
Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy our private deck since other guests we occupying it and even got served drinks there by the staff. I asked the staff multiple times to help us use our deck, but they didn't react or didn't succeed to clear our deck. Finally we gave up.
The next morning before checking out, I explained my displeasure to s staff member and asked her to reconsidder the price for our 2 nights, since we absolutely did NOT get what we booked. After a phone call with management (Peter?) we were told that they found no reason what so ever to compensate us.
I find it very disappointing that a professional organisation is not able to accept the fact that they made a mistake and compensate their guests!
- Lucky (8/5): Very good -
- Doreen (9/5): Superb -
- Doreen (9/5): Charming place - The rooms are rustic but absolutely charming.
The view, property and garden are absolutely lovely.
The staff members are super friendly, the food is good and the cocktails areyummi.
- Rachid (9/5): Superb -
- Ingemar (10/5): Weekend retreat - Calm and quiet location by the lake. Outstanding staff and fabulous food.
- Rolf (7/5): Good -
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ekaterina (7/5): Good - The location is awesome. Plenty of birds in the garden. No a/c. The only fan wasn't cooling down the room and it was extremely hot in the morning.
- Aquarius (2/5): Very poor -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tatsiana (10/5): Beauty, peace, comfort, goodwill - all this you will find Here! - An incredibly beautiful place, comfortable rooms, wonderful home cooking, fast Wi-Fi, this place definitely lives up to its name. Thanks, Joan! I will definitely come back to you again
