- David (10/5): - This is a perfect inn for a brief visit to Sparta. The only person we saw was the lady in the office at check-in. She was pleasant and the check-in was easy. Our room was sufficient for our visit. This is not a five star hotel with room service and all the frills you would expect from a 5-star. This is a small town motel. It was very clean and quiet. The diner across the parking lot was closed for Christmas but we have eaten there many times over the years and the food is good. We will stay here again when in town visiting family for the holidays.
- Wanda (8/5): - I liked the location
Central to many shops.
- Esther (10/5): - Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Will be staying there again.
- Marc (10/5): Classic no thrills motel - I have been staying at the Alleghany Inn for years. At first it was a place to stay while working construction jobs in the area. In the past few years it was to spend time in Sparta. The motel is a no thrills, classic motel. The furniture hasnt been updated in some time, but if you want a clean room to lay your head and get a good nights sleep, this is the place. Will return again.
- Leigh (6/5): - It’s Okay
- William K. (10/5): Great value and friendly staff - Always a confortable stay at Alleghany Inn.

- Fernando (10/5): - Clean, comfortable and conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway. The staff very friendly.
- Daniel (8/5): - Allegheny inn worked perfectly for our 1 night stay. We usually book way ahead, but this stop was kind of last minute & it worked fine. I’d stay here again if in the area.
- Valerie (2/5): - Filthy, stained, unwashed bedspread, ants and other bugs in the bathroom area, stained carpet, cigarette burns on the so-called nightstand, smelly, pillows, filty air conditioning unit. I had to find a store to purchase roach and ant spray, lysol, microban spray, bed linings, a bedspread and pillows.
The bathroom sink facet was damaged and hard to cut on and off. At least it was quiet, centrally located to a location I needed to be at and had an amazing restaurant at the corner of the parking lot.
- Melissa (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. Had been many years since we had been there. Sparta is a special little town and Allegheny inn is no exception.quaint little motels and inns suit us well and this one is the best! Very clean and great service. Friendly staff and convenient to town... Or the surround natural areas for hiking or canoeing the New river. Love the town events as well. Pie eating contest day is coming up.
What a hoot! Can't find that in the big tourist spots I'll bet!
- albert (10/5): - exce4llent stay
- Bonnie (10/5): Cozy - It’s was a comfortable stay while visiting my husbands sister and niece who reside in Sparta.
- vernon (10/5): - Affordable and convenient.
- bobby (10/5): - Older nice clean hotel……
- Brian (10/5): - While an older property, it is very well maintained, is very clean, and has an attentive staff.
The night porter had fresh coffee in the office at 5:00 a.m. both mornings I was there (And yes, I was up at 5:00, to run a trail race nearby)
Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful.
In a small town not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway, there aren't a lot of choices, but this is an excellent value.
- Samuel (10/5): Always a great stay - This was our eighth stay at Alleghany Inn. Consistently clean rooms, polite and helpful staff. A gem in the beautiful town of Sparta.
I can't say enough good things about our stays there.
- Melanie (10/5): Great stay as always - Super little motel. It's a staple for over a decade foir our impromptu trips to the mountains.
- Lisa (10/5): - A little dated, but a good value. Very clean and nice staff.
- Deena (10/5): - Everything about The Alleghany Inn was great. Clean, comfortable, great location, very nice staff. It may have some years on it, but they have kept it in great shape. I highly recommend it.
- Perlena (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again if we get back this way. The Inn was very clean and comfortable. The staff was super friendly.
We recommend if you are in the area and need a nice clean place to stay then stop here.
- Samuel (10/5): Best motel in NC - This is the sixth stay at Alleghany Inn. Always spotless and comfortable rooms and convenient to everything in Sparta.
- Mary Ruth (10/5): - Locale
- Angela (10/5): Last Minute Adventure - We decided last minute to take drive on the Blue Ridge parkway. We had to take a detour which took us into Sparta and I looked up for hotels and found Allegheny Inn. Even just staying one night , We loved it. Also JB pizza and Subs great place to eat...
- C James (10/5): - Great hotel in a beautiful location. Perfect for myself and the family.
- david (10/5): - Older facilities are well kept. Convenient to downtown
- Ollie (10/5): Would definitely stay here again when in the area! - Would certainly recommend this roadside inn to anyone traveling to the area! Room spacious, excellent quality bed and bath linens. Only negative was the noisy air conditioner. Were unable to sleep due to noise, so turned it off and became hot during night making sleep difficult.
- Samuel (10/5): Best in NW NC - Fifth time staying at the Alleghany Inn. Very clean an comfortable rooms and helpful, professional staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very Clean - I have stayed in hotels that are three times the price, and not nearly as clean. The towels are also very plush which is a plus. Front desk people are also very nice. Great place to stay in Sparta.
- Maureen (10/5): - Good shower pressure after a long day of riding. The hotel was shabby-chic but I felt safe traveling and staying alone —good parking and well lit….and great towels!! The AC didn’t work great but for one night it was fine —I would stay again for the price and Brandon was a sweet young man —he checked us all in—“Let’s Go Brandon!!”
- Clemans (6/5): - Not up to standards of Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn. It's just a typical old style motel with terrible wifi.
- bobby (8/5): - We love this hotel…… very 60s vibe. Very nice.
- Robert (6/5): - Only the young blonde girl was knowledgeable as to what was available in the area.
- gregory (10/5): Great one night stay - Put us on the first floor with easy acess to our motorcycle. Front counter employees were very nice and accommodating. Very friendly.
- John (10/5): - This is my go to hotel when I am in Sparta. The place is always clean, and the staff is always helpful. The location is in walking distance of shops and restaurants. There aren't any frills, but if you need a comfortable room for a good nites, rest this place has what you're looking for.
- TERRY (8/5): Trip to Sparta nc. - Enjoyed the time there.
- Tamra (10/5): Friendly, Southern Hospitality - We were just staying over one night. Check-in was super easy and everyone was very friendly. Not having ever been through or around Sparta we asked for suggestions for a place for dinner and were directed to a local cafe with live music and we had such a good time. We will be back!
- Kim (10/5): - This property was a little dated but very clean. Staff was friendly
- Shu (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location of Blue Ridge Parkway.
- judie (8/5): - Very clean older motel. Prices were reasonable, easy check in. Convenient to the town businesses. Very quiet and peaceful area. Staff was top drawer!
- Patricia (8/5): Pleasant - It was a nice enough place for the cost.
The staff was helpful and friendly.
Good coffee always brewing.
- Sherman (10/5): - Nice check in and early
- Tom (10/5): - Super friendly
- Martin (10/5): Problem solved! - There was a problem with our room; we brought it to management attention immediately, and he went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, and solved the problem. Very friendly, and we truly appreciated the prompt response and solution.
- Thomas (10/5): - Can't beat it for the price...clean and quiet...will return !!!
- kimberly (10/5): - nice people, clean rooms, close to town
- Karen (10/5): - Will be back again next year!!
- Janet (8/5): - The rooms could use a facelift and update. Lumpy old mattress and pillows, ancient carpet. Just okay overall.
- Debra (10/5): - Felt very clean. Convenient location.
- Ann (10/5): - Staff was excellent! Breakfast at the diner on property site was good option for breakfast.
- Charles (10/5): Great stay.. - This is a great family owned motel you can tell the owners really take pride in. I would highly recommend.
- Samuel (10/5): We're staying there again... - Very clean and well maintained room.
- Rachel (10/5): - The property was set up well. Everything was clean and parking was easy.
- Samuel (10/5): Great 3 day stay - Excellent hotel!
Very clean rooms, comfortable bed and very close to everything in Sparta. The hotel is exceptionally well maintained and room was in excellent condition.
- kathleen (8/5): - Alleghany Inn is right in town, with easy access to many things (food, shopping, government facilities). While a little dated, my room was nicely appointed with many fluffy towels, a big easy chair, and a comfortable bed. Both front desk staff were friendly and helpful. There was a breakfast/pizza restaurant right next door that had great food. I enjoyed my stay and would be happy to return.
- John (10/5): - My stay was nice and quite and the staff was friendly and helpful. It is rare to find hotels, inns, or motels that keep the rooms clean, so I appreciate the attention they give to the details. I think cleanliness is much more important than a bunch of ammenities. I usually do not vacation in a town or city to stay stay on the hotel grounds. If I want to stay indoors I can stay at home.
- Karl (10/5): - though the fixtures are dated everything is in good condition, clean and well maintained.
