• danhW7376WJ (10/5): Wonderful Weekend Getaway! - We had the most wonderful stay at Cobblescote! This lovely family owned property reminded us of summer camp. It's so rare to find a true bnb these days so this was such a treat! We loved our view of the lake and the delicious breakfast each morning. Despite being outside of Cooperstown downtown, you are extremely close to the downtown area. We didn't get a chance to kayak or use the grill due to rain, but what an amazing amenity to offer guests. Our room was extremely clean and well stocked, plenty of hot water and fresh towels and quiet! This was the best escape out of NYC and we came back feeling relaxed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

• Rebecca (6/5): - The location is on a busy road with limited access to the beach. We were wakened by scratching noises of rodents in the walls in the early morning. Also, when water was used in other parts of the building it created a gurgling drip drip drip noise in the wash basin right next to the bed. Also, the extra blanket we found (because it was cold) had unpleasant soiled spots suggesting it had not been cleaned. I would not recommend this hotel.

New pillows and comforter with a simple foam mattress insert would have made the sleeping much better and complete a wonderful stay.

It was not modern but it was well equipped and very comfortable. The family of the owners were making breakfast and taking care of things. They were very nice and did a great job.

• 521dinaq (2/5): Terrible/Outdated/Misleading - Not what we expected. Upon walking in we were bombarded with a strong smell of “weed”. The main building is old, dark and dingy. Thankfully there were no bed bugs but there were cobwebs, dust and dirt around windows, baseboards and corners of the room. There are limited outlets for charging phones. The add on area with beds had none. The mattresses are thin and squeaky. The bathroom did not have shampoo or conditioner but did have a bar of soap although none of us showered because it was too gross and we were only staying one night. The towels were mismatched, faded and did not look the cleanest. We walked down to the lake-property had lake view but you need to cross the highway and go down steep stairs for access. The kayaks and life vests were filthy and not usable. The view was very nice as we sat on the porch in the evening. The breakfast was good and the women serving/cooking were very nice. I would definitely not go back as this place is very misleading! Our review on another site was not published and only showed the rating 6/10 which was us being generous which leads me to believe they only publish the positive ones. The place has a lot of potential if they update the floors, bathrooms, mattresses and bedding/linens/towels otherwise stay away! For the price per night stay elsewhere.

Very accommodating staff, if what was on the menu for the day was not desired, the staff's response was "what would you like". Every breakfast we had was perfect. You cannot beat the energy of the front porch. We needed to leave. No. Concerns that any human had control over. The room was clean comfortable, and the grounds, outside and in had a good "feel" about them. Our travel plans changed at the last second and we were accommodated with no hesitation.

To go to the water, it was a lot of steps and pretty steep for me. I'm older and have a bad knee, so I wasn't even going to attempt the stairs. The road is also busy at certain times, so it can be a bit scary to cross.

The room was dark which was strange for us but at night, it gets so dark and we rested really well, so I see the point. The yard is very comfy, they have paddles, lifejackets and canoes and kayak for free!!! My husband and daughters had a great time in the lake. Other boaters would slow down so they didn't create wakes. Thays how the people are in Cooperstown, very friendly, accomodating and cordial. We loved it and plan to go back. Just the view from the dining room in the morning makes it worth it.

• thomasbV7285FN (2/5): Unprofessional, Poor communication, Bad business practices, Fraudulent, Not family friendly - If you are going to The Cooperstown Dreamspark, Do Not Book This Hotel!!! We booked 3 nights, and were told the night before check-in that our rooms had been cancelled after they had sent us an inventory expecting immediate payment of $1000. We paid the invoice on time expecting our room to be ready for our family coming in for the Dreamspark tournament for my son and my husband (who was coaching.) When I called the night before check in to find out check-in time, Genevieve told me this room was no longer available, after they took our $1000. Not only were we out the money but now had to scramble and piece together where we would stay, at the last minute. Multiple calls were made to the hotel, messages were left, emails were sent to the owner and not one person would get back to us, live, to rectify the situation. The owner of this Inn is irresponsible, unprofessional and fraudulent. Spend your money elsewhere!

• Lisa (10/5): It was the most relaxing weekend I've had with my family in a LONG time! - It was so nice having breakfast made for us each day we were there. Normally I don't sleep well while on vacation but I slept like a baby both nights we were there. The suite was so comfortable and cozy. Having being able to control the air/heat was tremendous since it did get cold at night. The lake front access was a quick walk down some steep steps but it was a beautiful area. There are plenty of kayaks and oars to use while there and it was a very welcoming spot. Kids were able to play foosball, knock hockey and other games available to us. There was also a very nice firepit taht we were able to use too. The lighting on the property was not great. I saw that we had solar lights on the deck but they didn't work at night. Many light switches inside the suite didn't do anything either. The outside lights by walkways and stairs were not working which made it a little dangerous to walk around.
• Mari (9/5): loved it. I'll be going back! - Beautiful inn with a rich history and run by the original family. The little touches made my stay extra nice - comfortable bed and bedding and breakfast in the morning.
• Curtis (10/5): - We had a great time staying at Cobblescote. It’s a very family friendly cabin/inn. My wife, and two sons (4yrs old and 3 months old) stayed in the middle of the week at the end of September. We were the only ones on our first night and one of two groups our second night. Cheryl made our complimentary breakfast each day. She was very hospitable and great company. I could see us returning for a few days in the summer to really take advantage of the lake, activities, etc.
• Sara (8/5): Pleasant stay in a beautiful setting with nice people! - I particularly liked the welcoming conversation and breakfast on the porch. The staff was so cheerful and helpful, even accommodating my need to eat gluten free. The location is very nice too - great view of the lake and only 8 min from downtown Cooperstown with all its activities (restaurants, baseball hall of fame etc).

• BeckyD758 (2/5): Unfortunate we have to write negative review - I feel it is necessary to provide a strong “BEWARE” to Travelers who might be considering a stay @ The Cobblescote Inn, Cooperstown, NY. There is no intent here to negatively impact a small, family run business but providing our experience related to their Cancellation Policy is truly one to learn from. Before booking your stay, please read the fine print on their policy. There ARE NO circumstances where your paid up front money will be refunded, OR even a portion of your money will be returned to you; taxes included! We had a death in the family of my sister-in-law which occurred the week/weekend we were scheduled to visit. Genevieve was sympathetic BUT also very emphatic SHE COULD NOT reschedule us (which we requested for just a week or two later) OR refund any part of our fully paid stay! It was a total of $880! A very big hit for a couple living on a Social Security income. It’s pretty extraordinary & shocking from a consumer’s perspective. Genevieve’s reasoning was “they are a small business & can’t operate like the larger hotels/motels in the Hospitality Industry.” My husband & I learned a strong lesson from this & felt it necessary to advise others of our unfortunate experience.
• Lisa (10/5): Wonderful location, comfy room, outstanding hospitality - Cobblescote is perfectly located overlooking Lake Otsego and a 4 minute drive to downtown Cooperstown. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and my hubby even caught a fish with the provided equipment! But best of all, the hospitality was flawless. They were preparing for a family wedding the next day and still found time to chat and make us feel welcomed. Highly recommend!
