Guest Reviews
- A5878WCsusant (2/5): Give it a miss - Horrendous, night club on site, prostitutes attempting to access your room. Staff were nice. Only stayed 3 nights then paid to stay elsewhere. Had to pay an extra£5 each per night for air conditioning and the fridge.
It was a nice site, but totally ruined by experience.
- Herbert (6/5): - It’s good on average .
- Lamine Ntambi (10/5): - The place was comfortable, easily. Accessible and many food options.
Hyggelig betjening, men veldig langsomt. Slitt, men koselig. Trafikkstøy fra motorveien!
- Kyle (8/5): - Nice basic accommodation in a great location. Rooms are comfortable and clean but no frills. Pool area is nice, the bar next to it is good for cheap beer and snacks. Restaurant on-site is pretty good. Air conditioning costs extra but I think it's reasonable (plus it cools off enough at night to where it's not necessary, especially for downstairs rooms). It's close to the main beaches and nightlife in Kololi and Senegambia, and getting a quick taxi to them is easy. If you're looking to hang out and relax by the pool, go to the beach, and go out at night to the restaurants and bars, Baobab Holiday Resort is a good choice.
- Michael (8/5): - I like that it is close to the beach but the noise pool party because it was weekend cause a lot of noise.
- 492malid (8/5): my favorite hotel in Gambia - good location, just a pity that the road in front of the hotel was being renewed during my visit. hotel has friendly staff, every weekend there is a party in the restaurant by locals, which continues until midnight. You can also arrange a tourist ride in the hotel via Yankuba. Breakfast is standard but good for Gambian standards. the room is nice and cool and has a fridge and nice shower. I enjoyed 2 weeks. Tip : make a round prices at hotel and restaurant like 150200/250. Becouse they have not change when you charge 320/545/145. I give tip when i want .
- Chelmo_Man (8/5): Good Hotel, Bar and Adequate Restaurant. - I go to Gambia frequently and like to have a hotel on first night to ensure I have a meal and am properly hydrated. I love this place - I have never needed to book. It is an African Hotel to the extent that the rooms are spartan but the hotel service is good and the pool bar serves the coldest beer in Gambia. The restaurant is only ok. Customer service is poor - and there is 'no change' . The food is quite good and the Afra is nice. Some of the restaurant staff have ben there too long. Breakfast is good and at 300GMD well priced. There is a cohort of long stay guests which is nice to see. Well placed for the beach.
- Maarten (4/5): - They will squeeze every euro out of you. A/C 6 euro per night. Card machine broken so obliged to change cash against their bad rates.
Also good food poisoning in their restaurant.
Bad Wi-Fi. Works for messaging and browsing but not streaming or video calling.
Plus: Base price is not expensive, pool area is okay, most personnel very friendly. Room old and cheap, but clean.
- 492malid (8/5): Very good price and quality combination - hotel was very good. Staff is friendly and helpful. it is a lively hotel with a lot of music on the weekends. pool is clean and not too warm thankfully. bar is adequate, menu is nice, but on the expensive side for a 2 star hotel. prices have gone up considerably after the pandemic. one should not exaggerate. Furthermore, you have to take into account that people have almost no change, so you automatically pay a tip. you can rent your own fridge and fill it with drinks. in addition to the hotel, there are also excuses possible. you can also rent a safe. there are tourist taxis available at the exit. Please note that the road is under construction at the moment
- Awa (10/5): - Very nice, very clean, cozy, family and community oriented.
It’s a home away from home.
- 240emj (10/5): Brilliant place - The most accommodative place, if there is anything wrong they're quick to fix it. Lovely staff, we go several times a year and its always like going home! Can't wait to head back. Friendly, welcoming place.
- Braszin (4/5): Last minute accommodation - My air bnb driver did not show to pick us up from the airport. So I was greatful to be able at last minute to walk in at 1130 pm to book a room
There is a resturant onsite and they serve ok food. Fried rice was delicious.
Wifi- was poor because there was no service in my room. I had to keep going to the pool area.
Rooms. Outdated as is the front reception, the pool creates a false illusion. Owner needs to invest in renovations. As there is power talking to be better.
Payment : In trying to sort out usd to dalsi etc and not agreeable on the change I was to recieve back. They Manager gave me back 100 USD along with my change for payment by accident. But the time I realized I had this extra 100 I had already arrived at my intial accommodation, air bnb. And was going to travel back to return the funds then following day.
This was where it for really weird. The Manager and a taxi driver were waiting outside of my air bnb to collect. It was so inappropriate and I felt unsafe and would never stay at this little place again. Also the night staff mistakened my conversation about politics within Africa, as an invitation to come to my room?
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If all meals can be included on the package that will be 😊......we really enjoyed our stay and will come back again in future.
- Lamin (10/5): - Staff works hard to make guests happy
- leb83 (4/5): Baobab need renovation - We spend a week in hotel Baobob. The rooms need desperate renovations. Dressers drawers has broken handles, shower has no curtain so alsways a indoor swimming pool. Bed sheets are so often washed that they have holes. No chair in the room. Breakfast is ok except the coffee. NEscafe. Why? There is a coffee machine and then you have to drink for breakfast instant Coffee? Why?
- 500paulab (6/5): Disappointing dinner - My son and I went for dinner here January 2018. I had been before 2 years ago. Sadly the meal wasn't great. Quite expensive for what it was. My son had a margarita pizza which was nice,I ordered chicken Benechin which arrived full of hard peas!!! Benechin doesn't have peas in it...as a local Gambian dish the Gambians wouldn't have freezers to keep frozen peas in!!! My guess was they were trying to bulk out the meal. The chicken was awful and very chewy....I didn't eat it. Staff weren't interested in the fact I hadn't eaten or enjoyed it. Unless you're staying there or go regularly I don't think they give you a second glance. Wouldn't go back.m
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean pool and staff very helpful, breakfast very good. Would come back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Es mi casa en Senegambia. Vuelvo cada año. Alguna vez,he cambiado de hotel y me he arrepentido. Es el mejor sin duda!!
- Garfield (10/5): - The hotel is very friendly and welcoming, with good quality rooms. The guests are mostly Dutch on package holidays as an independent traveller from the UK I didn't fit into this scene but the wonderfully friendly and interesting to talk to staff meant this was no issue at all, particular thanks to Mariama whose constant smile , service and helpfulness was a pleasure to witness.
The breakfast is good too.
The only slight downside is the location not being on beachside of the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great experience and cannot wait for a return
- Lamin (8/5): - okay stay
- janet4463 (8/5): Day visiting a friend - Lovely simple hotel friendly and helpful staff. Visited a friend staying there so got to see one of the rooms, basic but clean.they have a restaurant at the front with live entertainment .hotel is on the main road and has easy access to the beach and others hotels in the area
- Jahzara1 (8/5): Dinner visit - 1st impressions nice grounds, away from the 'tourist strip' can walk to from the Senegambia beach hotel about 20mins..
Good selection for vegetarians I ordered Veg Damoda and chips.. Good price. Service pleasant and quick.. Lots of locals and a few tourists..
- moyras2018 (8/5): We enjoyed our stay! - During the Easter Holiday, I stayed at the Baobab Holiday Resort in Gambia for eight days. I recommend it to everyone! The Resort is very colorful and nice. I had a double room (room number 203) and the rooms were big and also the bed was big and soft. The bathroom was quite small and there was no hot water but that was not a big problem because at the end it is still Africa. There was one small outdoor swimming pool and one baby swimming pool. In my opinion, the swimming pool was too small to swim laps. Near the swimming pool was a bar but they did not always have what there was on the menu, for example: the cocktails but the staff was at all times very kind and always helpful. The location of the Resort was perfect, the beach and the sea are on a walking distance. Each morning there was fresh breakfast with a chef who cooks eggs as you want it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- JacomijnSHT (10/5): Great small and personal resort - I loved staying here. The room is clean and has all you need. Nothing more then that but you don't need it. Shower is good and hot. Swimmingpool is being cleaned every day and is great to use. Always a spot in the sun to find....or shade as you want. Staff is really friendly. I loved the pancakes on the morning!
- chilled-adventures (8/5): Good value - Stayed here for 10 nights, hotel is 20 mins walk from the busy senegambia area so if you want something a little quieter this is a good choice. The hotel is mainly used by dutch tourists we were the only english throughout our whole stay which was fine with me. Staff are great, friendly and work hard. Food at restaurant is great, all freshly cooked so you can wait but its worth waiting for. All in all a good visit to a decent hotel for the price.
- Bashir (6/5): Good location, friendly staff - Good location, comfortable bed, fan in the room, safe locker available. Breakfast is simple, but you get what you pay for.
- Claire (10/5): Great hotel great staff close to beach/airport - Clean friendly great food excellent value in every way.
- Eli_j0lie (8/5): Clean and safe place - The room was cleaned everyday, sheets changed. The beach across the road is nice but beware of the bumsters. The breakfast is ok, only bananas for fruit unfortunately but you can ask for eggs, you stay for longer than 5 days the buffet gets boring. The staff is superb, Take a yellow taxi for the strip during the day is cheap.. the wifi is on and off, signal stronger by the pool bar.
- alex4777 (6/5): good, clean and safe place to stay, but you need a (yellow) taxi to go to the strip - The staff is still very kind and tyhe rooms are clean, still daily change of bed linnen and towels. Unfortunately the hotel is fully collonised by the dutch touroperator Correndon.Beach is within walking distance, but to go for the "STRIP" and restaurants you need a taxi (yellow shared ones Dalasi 8, green private dal 50). or walk the 4km along the beach (only during day time).
