Chad offered some awesome recommendations for renting bicycles and getting around the lake to see the sights. Linda cooked an amazing breakfast for us each morning. The location though may be a bit “remote” for some people. And the only downfall is the tap water. The water flow is just TOO small. Other than that, it is an affordable and really lovely place to stay in!

- LS (8/5): - After staying in both the Lego room and Dinosaur room, I would say the rooms and the bathrooms here are very spacious by Taiwan standards, which is a great feature for families travelling with young children and infants. The pillows were a bit soft for my wife and 2 kids. The rooms are showing some minor signs of wear and tear due to perhaps rough usage from previous guests, but they don't detract from the fun for the kids. The family rooms are full of both major and minor features to cleverly tie into the room theme. Meanwhile the rest of the B&B is full of ornaments, decorations and items from the worldly and local travels of the couple who own the B&B. I would not say their price is cheap, but is reasonable given the things in the room to amuse the children and the facilities provided at the B&B. We made use of their kitchen to make simple microwave meals (although the water pressure was a bit low in the kitchen sink), and also used their clothes washing service. Take note if you're a family or person who likes to stay up late or wake up early that you will need control noise levels after 9pm and before 9am out of consideration to other rooms and the adjacent neighbours of the B&B. Also, it seemed to us that vehicles using the road in front of the B&B would often be speeding, and it could be scary walking that 1km into the town center with your child and a lorry is speeding past you at what seems to be 60-70kmph. But overall, very happy with the stay. 8.5/10

Check-in was quick, we had a large clean room with a nice bathroom, and the common areas were well stocked with free coffee and cookies. I manage to take a look at the other rooms as we checked in pretty on time, 3pm. The room is very spacious and there are many soft toys which the kids will love them! The beds are comfy. There is a common area where you may chat with other guests and share a drink & snack!

The Location is a plus point as it is near the main ferry area and the bus interchange. The staffs were very friendly and kind to guide us around.

Got the Fisherman Room that looks exactly like the pictures, plus to comfy, right-at-home feeling with the separate sitting area, the Japanese style table and mattress corner shown in the pic has a large glass window you can pull the curtain open to make the room look even more well-lit and spacious. It's so nice to have enough room I can lay the luggage opened on the floor, my bf sitting on bed watching tv, and me in the living area snacking. With a corner for shoes-off, too. A plus after walking all day in those sneakers. Clean soft towels, toiletries are of good quality. The shower area has a small ventilation window that look straight up the hill behind the hotel. Steep staircases from lobby to my room, so those travelling with i'm-running-up-and-down-for-fun kids should be careful. They'll love the hotel, though. Free coffee/ tea corner. The host lady is very kind and willing to help, walking us guests around and introduced common area & facilities. I pulled out a Sun Moon Lake area map and asked for directions, she took one look at it and pulled out a larger and clearer one, marked and explained about each important spots, and gave us that new map. Location: Like five minute walk from the pier and visitor center, no climbing slope or anything, just along the main road. Sun Moon Lake area is quiet at night. Restaurants closed early in the evening. But 7-11 is just a short walk if you need something.

Also provided voucher for cycle hire to go around the island. Hotel was is good condition, very family friendly. A real break from the identikit business hotels.

Our room located at 2nd floor easily access to the cozy kitchen with all fully equipped cutlery and dining area which is convenient to dine with our kids, giving us a warm, comfortable and homey time.

The overall experience with this hotel is liking going to the Disney, full of imagination. The staff is very nice and make recommendation based on our needs. Nice unique jurrasic wall decor & stuffed dinosaurs, had a great picture time in the room while outside was raining. Luggages were assisted by owner with their innovative winch lift up to 3rd floor. Room was clean, neat n essentially equipped. There's a dinning area simply furnished for guest usage, very kind thoughtful setup by owner. Lovely experience.

- Peggy (10/5): Charming, Wonderful, Amazing - This place was wonderful. My husband and I rode in on our motorcycles while on our honeymoon trip. The owners were amazing. They knew we were so concerned about motorcycle theft. Not only did they offer to block the bikes in the driveway with a car, they asked neighbors to stay late (past midnight) and watch over them until the car arrived. We couldn't sleep while worrying over the bikes and snuck downstairs to check a couple of times. Each time we were greeted by someone watching the bikes for us and insisting that we get a good night's rest. We have never been treated so well by any hotel representatives and will never forget it. The hotel is so charming. Children and adults alike will love it. So unique and creative.
- chiaoping (10/5): 5 star 民宿 - Well maintained and tastefully decorated with row boat theme. Both host n hostess are so nice you want to be friend with. Host use his personal benz car took us to the bus stop on a rainy day. That was a very kind gesture. My room was large n beautifully decorated. It come with a private patio if you want to get fresh air. Room come with loads of special blend coffee/tea. Most important of all, room and bed is very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

- Zheng (10/5): Excellent - Staying at 5 Boat B&B was one of the highlights of our holiday. We arrived by bus from Taipei and didn't need to get a taxi to get to the hotel. Everything was easy from check-in to check-out. The decorations were unique and interesting, and the room was very large, quiet and comfortable.
