Guest Reviews
- Bob (10/5): - The staff were excellent. Friendly, courteous and helpful. Also, the hotel is in walking distance to most of what Dumagette is known for.
The condition of the property could use some updating but in didn’t bother me the least.
- Shirely (8/5): - None
- Robert (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and courteous.
- Robert (8/5): - The staff here were excellent. Very friendly and courteous. This is the way of Filipino society. A great and loving country. The building is very old and not in the best shape. However this is the Philippines and I expected this to be the case. The hotel was centrally located and made it easy to navigate the city.
- Vinicius (6/5): - Noisy during the day but ghost town during the night
Night life is about 1 km away have to walk along the dark lane.
The front desk staff is very helpful.
Will be back again
- Kim (6/5): - The room is clean.. But the amenities lack
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wifi was very good. Bed was comfy. Floor was not very clean and they did not ask me if I wanted the room cleaned.
- Bong (2/5): - They would charge you extra bed plus extra person even though you already paid and specified 4 person. There are 2 alternate cashiers and they dont have the same amount of billing. Only 1 soap was given for 4pax. And its a teeny weeny soap. 2 old towels. Will never stay here again.
- barbiedogon (8/5): Nice - I stayed here last week together with my husband. Our room is nice, very spacious, air-conditioned room and hot shower. Unfortunately, I have to ask the receptionist for our bath towels and I hope next time it was already at the room by the time we check in. The remote control of the tv also does not function well. I also saw some webs on the ceilings of the comfort room. I suggest to clean properly the CR and repair minor amenities of the room. But still, I love to stay over and over again in this hotel since it's very accessible in the downtown area. Thank you. I hope my review helps the management to do the best service they can to customers. Thank you.
- adventurer1975 (6/5): Clean. Tidy. Good location. Nice staff. - A respectable establishment only a short walk from the main strip. Reception were helpful and let us keep our bags there after check-out. The room staff/Bell-boys were extremely helpful and polite. One even offering to go down to the street to buy me a snack. The building is starting to age. Not glamorous but no complaints from me.
- micoc296 (8/5): Nice overnight stay - If u want a quick stay in Dumaguete I do recommend this place, this hotel is near to the blvd. of Dumaguete and also in the center. This place is also near the ceres transport terminal and if you don't want to go to the terminal you can just wait infront of the hotel because ceres bus is passing by infront of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bon rapport qualité prix
- Scott (10/5): Great Value For The Price - Some hotels in the Phils are located in obscure areas, so when you arrive you worry that you didn't book a quality hotel. I will say for certain, travelling around the Phils for awhile, that Obdulia's Business Inn is a quality hotel! I judge a hotel in the Phils on three things: shower, aircon, and cleanliness. All three were up to my satisfaction. The price was right too! I would stay there again if I travel through Dumaguete City. If you are travelling to another island, which I totally recommend Siquijor, the port is a twenty minute walk via the waterfront.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quick Stay - Had to stay to visit friend in Children Hospital, was clean and nice place for a night stay, especially for the price, friendly staff
- paulino636 (10/5): Perfect, but jail cells have more inviting lighting than my room did! - Great value smack dab in center. Cold a/c, wifi that worked in room (although weak signal), comfy beds, competent staff, 7-11 in same building, Quezon Park diagonal from hotel, travel agency in lobby. Stayed in room 307, which was quiet despite facing on to busy Perdices St, but the lighting in the room is awful and awkward, just not enough and not flattering. Jail cells have more inviting lighting, but this can easily be fixed.
- Arif (10/5): nice hotel close to every thing you need - this hotel is so nice it become my second home away home since 2 years. I recommend to every body
- Lucy (6/5): Right next to Cathedral, walking distance of good - Pros: Friendly staff, good AC, close to motor bike and scooter rentals.
Cons: No housekeeping, bad wifi in the room, although it worked great in the lobby. Dim lighting, some odor in bathroom.
Overall, good stay. The staff was super accommodating when I needed to print things out.
- rudy (10/5): Centrally located near public market etc. - Nice n convenient hotel worthy in coming back everytime when dumaguete great experience
- Eva (10/5): Awesome! - Air conditioned, clean, very professional and friendly staff. Comfortable beds, purified water on every floor. There was bamboo and astro-turf in the bathroom, which I enjoyed, and the room was very affordable and very spacious. Right next to the famous bell tower and Quezon Park. Would definitely stay again. From here's it's only 20-40 minutes to various mountain attractions, too, if you want to get out of the city and enjoy nature.
- Faithy18 (8/5): Spacious for a group of 4 - We were given the 3rd floor facing the Belfry as our window view. The room is big enough to fit 4 adults. The bathroom is dated but serves its purpose. No bidet and no dipper. Gracious staff. We keep on asking for toilet paper because they only have 1 roll given to us. Walking distance to the market, the boulevard and the church. There is a 7-11 at the ground area.
- josephmX2122IO (8/5): Clean room reasonable price. - Clean room no frills. Good aircon and hot shower. WiFi was not very good in the room. I sat out in the public area with no Aircon to be able to have WiFi. No refrigerator in room. No breakfast. You are paying for a clean comfortable sleeping room. Easy walk to the waterfront. Walking distance to the market. A beautiful church near by. A public park is also close by.
Overall a good place to stay if you want a clean place to stay with cold Aircon and hot shower.
- D5675TJsamt (4/5): No night securrity - The hotel is in the centre of town
reception are is small you can have 6 seat and bit dark
front desk service is not always good some staff are good and some not
Check in toole 20 minutes
Rooms are large and beds are ok
Rooms are clean but rooms cleaners are not attentive
sometimes they give you no towels or one for double rooms and one of then took my blanket and said he will replace it and did not
Room service is not daily unless you ask for it
The second day I ask for room cleaning and I waited for 3 hours and then I asked the receptionist again and she said that she already ask the the staff and When I saw the cleaners I told him and he said that no one told him then I went back to receptionist and told her but nothing happened at all.
I ask the receptionist to give me a wake up call at 230 in the morning and she said Yes she will do that,
No one call me and I wake up at 330 and went down to reception and no one was there and the security boy was asleep
and when I wake him up he told me that no one work at night on thursday or friday nights
I want to check our early so I went to front desk to pay and no one was there . so the security has to call someone and she cam have asleep and couldn't work out the amount so I have to do it myself
I can one after 1230 and I walk through the front door and noe one stop me
No reception and security was asleep
This is very dangerous and any one could go in easy
Room cleanser interfere with customers and ask personal questions
Roos are good size and bed is comfortable
Bathroom is good and roomy and hot water is good
Air condition is very loud and couldn't sleep
The hotel is good Just need new management
Wi wi is bad
- Florent (8/5): Good - Good
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasant - Staff were welcoming. room is surprisingly spacious. Location is excellent. Very close to the Church. Room was cool although the a.c. unit is very old and broken.
- clarkem371 (6/5): A good cheap option. - What a location ! Literally across the road from Campanario Dumaguete and the Cathedral.Convenience store 20m away.Rooms large and clean. Good aircon . TV with cable. Bathrooms large and shower was good.No breakfast available but many nearby eateries.
A view over the street was not spectacular.
Overall good value and in the historic heart of Dumaguete.
- John (6/5): Conveniently place hotel for Perdices St shops. - My first night was unpleasant as I was in room 411, which has a plant room above which I think is for pumping water up to a header tank. Once the level falls to a certain level, the pump kicks in day or night. The pump sounds as though the bearings are worn and therefore is a wake-up call! The room was dark as the window faced a wall. The floor could do with a deep clean, to remove grime.
I asked for a different room for the following night and was upgraded to room 403. This was much better, with two large windows and wifi reaching the room. I could see the sea partially from the main window. Another good feature was that it overlooked the historic belfry tower. I was so pleased with this room, I booked a further 2 nights
- Paul (2/5): - We stayed here for 3 nights the room was never cleaned or the bedding or towels changed. The security guard was very helpful even though he worked 48hrs none stop
- Michael (6/5): Very basic with good location - Old hotel no the best around but good location. Very basic, no food or other services
- LegendHarry (6/5): Good But Definitely Not Great - Thing is, JF Obdulia's Business Inn need a serious upgrade. It took two room changes before my guests found what suited to their preferences.
Maybe they need to upgrade their facilities, airconditioning units, the bathrooms.
Although they have friendly and helpful staff.
- 411richw (4/5): Last resort. - I have stayed here over the past few years and the quality has been going down. This would be a last resort hotel for me from now on. It needs upgrades. Many foreigners stay here. Its may be ok for 1 or 2 nights, but there are newer places that have cleaner and better accommodations. Dumaguete is a beautiful place to visit. Plan ahead and make reservations elsewhere.
- TechGeekTraveler (4/5): When all other choices fail - 306. That was my room and it seems like many others here. The reviews are factual that the room while spacious is not well maintained. The past reviews talk about the shower having curtain. Well it's now gone. It's beyond poor condition. Bed? Well it's just a place to lay down. Quality of the bedding is not good at all. Noise outside is unbearable at time. I would suggest looking around and keeping this place in your back pocket as last hope.
- 703seal (2/5): moldy bathroom - we were in vacation last feb 2016 and i did not expect that our first room was so dirty the air condition does not work so in the next day we ask to move in the other room and with good air condition which is in the other floor but still dirty moldy bathroom, clogged toilet, alots of cobweb.
- Daria_Explorera (6/5): Last Accomodation - Went on my usual business trip to Dumaguete City this month and was not able to book in advance to the regular hotel (Worldview Hotel) I stay in, thinking it was not 'peak season' but unfortunately almost all hotels in the area were fully booked since it is Siliman University Founders Day. Luckily the staffs in WH helped me find a place to stay. They called a lot of hotels/pension houses and was able to squeeze me in Obdulia's Business Inn. Its just a couple of blocks from WH, near the church, some business establishment and foodshops. Just a walk to the famous Rizal Blvd. The room I got is 1099/night (pricey for me), NO BREAKFAST, fully airconditioned, with led tv/cable, hot & cold shower, elevator (thank God since its on the 4th floor and some hotels in the city does not have elevators), 24/7 standby generator, 24/7 security. Room is big, furniture/fixture average, bed/pillows average, t/b average (no soap & shampoo, need to ask frontdesk for soap). Over all stay was... ok, just happy that I had a good rest & sleep.
- cobbdouglas (6/5): Nice for long stays, but leave instructions to make up your room - Location is excellent -- just beside the cathedral, two blocks walk from the beach, a 2-minute walk to McDonald's and Jollibee. Robinson's Supermarket and Lee Super Plaza are about 5 minutes from the hotel.
We chose the bigger rooms (deluxe, I think). Room size is decent, bed and pillows are great. Airconditioning works well, but blankets are rather thin. Either turn the thermostat up or request for a thick blanket (I think there's an extra charge). The curtains also do a great job of keeping sunlight away, which I like because I can sleep longer. (Some people may not like this, though).
Other than the city's nightly alarm, the room is rather quiet. Wifi is only available at the 1st, 3rd, and 4th floor lobbies, so ask for a room that's near your floor's lobby.
Housekeeping service is below standard. If you want them to make up your room daily, YOU HAVE TO LET THEM KNOW. Otherwise, they won't clean up -- that's the hotel's policy. But if you tell them, they'll clean up your room and change your sheets and towels daily. Sometimes they run out of shampoo so you might want to bring your own toiletries.
Laundry is available at P30 per kilo, and you deposit and claim it at the front desk. *Really* convenient and much cheaper compared to other hotels. There are only a few laundry shops downtown, so this is something I really like about Obdulia's.
Bottomline: Book for long stays -- very convenient, and price is reasonable. For shorter stays, you might want to book other hotels.
- 126td (6/5): Ok but not impressed with Dumagete 😳 - May 15 - 19, 2015 Landed Dumagete 1hr 20min late Cebu always late Pacific the hotel airport pickup service to the hotel was p300 on the hotel bill room was nice everything was ok the air con was very noisy when you turn on the tv the aircon noise rules the room, very good hot water heater the pillows are horrible foam type had to call for pillows still not good, did not sleep good.16th moved to another room. The room was much better. May 19th, Check out went smooth.
- kjelldarena (2/5): Noisiest Hotel in the City of Gentle People - I was forced to stay here since all of the other hotels were fully booked. Room (306) is somewhat bare but quite spacious. Furnishings were a bit dusty when I checked in. Shower room looks somewhat poorly maintained; shower curtain railing looked like it would fall off any minute. And the worst thing about my stay is that management and staff appeared not to care or helpless with the construction that caused noise at the 2nd floor, which they said they didn't own. You could hear the banging and drilling even at 10pm in the evening. Other guests may be deaf or nonchalant with the noise. In sum, hotel's location may be perfect but is hellish to be in this hotel. Makes me wonder why they're still in business.
- gores (6/5): within the city - This Inn is in the city. Therefore, its location is just perfect for those who would like to discover the city. Unfortunately, it is not very visible as an Inn. It took me several minutes to find it. But for those who are planning to stay here, take as your point of reference the Cathedral. When you are facing at the Cathedral, the right side is the way to go there. Just follow the road and cross the street then, you are now so close to the Inn. Look up and you will see its name!
Relatively new but poorly maintained. When I was there, their restaurant/bar was not tidy.
But at least, a decent place where a traveller can stay.
- mikeey_sy (6/5): Average at best - Stayed here for 2 days and booked the matrimonial room on the 3rd floor. From the outside, the hotel is a bit difficult to find because it's beside a gasoline station! When you get in, you'll see a slightly dark lobby and will be greeted by the hotel's friendly receptionist. The room that was assigned to me (room 306) was huge but the a/c tiny! It took really long to cool the entire area. I had two towels originally but the receptionist called to see if they could borrow the other one! What?! The cr was huge but very poorly decorated. It had a hot and cold shower and a plastic shower curtain to separate the toilet and the bath area! Also there was a funky smell that persisted the entire time! It became really pronounced everytime I'd go back to the hotel room after a few hours outside.
The good thing here is that the hotel is right in the middle of the city so it's near the church, the town plaza, the malls, and the market.
For its price (Php1099/night), I felt that I was better off adding a few hundred bucks to book somewhere else and if you are travelling to Dumaguete, you might want to do the same. There are better alternatives than this hotel (hotel Nicanor, Florentina, even Grand Pensionne Hotel) for about a few hundred extras so I suggest you do just that.
- SaranganiDiver (4/5): Good location, good sized rooms, but poorly maintained - The four-story hotel, with lift (elevator), is on the main road, next to the Cathedral, and very convenient for access to the downtown shopping, restaurants, bars and the famous sea-front promenade.
I stayed in two different rooms on this stay, one "deluxe" and one "standard". Deluxe was slightly larger had a "matrimonial" bed and the standard had twin-beds. They had identically noisy air-conditioners and shabby, dirty decor. Even the walls were soiled. Especially in the shower room.
Rooms have a telephone, desk, Wi-Fi, CRT-TV and working water-heater in the shower. During my stay there was a supply problem for clean towels! Rooms are serviced daily upon request. Reception closes at 11pm; but there is a security guard on duty 24-hrs.
OK, it is cheap. But there are many other equally cheap hotels in the area which are well maintained and clean. The staff were friendly, but they are friendly everywhere in Dumaguete.
Sorry, but I cannot recommend this hotel. Shop around.
- rbrown406 (6/5): Decent stay in the heart of Dumaguete - My wife and I stayed 3 days at Obdulia's Inn. The Inn is right in the center of all the action of Dumaguete. This makes for easy access to most things. Restaurants and stores are all very nearby.....many within walking distance. The Boulevard is also within walking distance and a nice walk along the seaside. The room was quite small as was the bathroom but served all our basic needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was very informal and simple.......I booked in advance online. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but there is one on the second floor. Only minor noise from the pedicabs and other vehicles that roar through town constantly. Prices are economical.
