- Len (9/5): A wonderful lodge in a beautiful, scenic setting! - The Great Pines Lodge was wonderful - we had a lovely room on 2nd floor with a great view of the lake from our balcony. We loved this rustic, yet very comfortable, place which fit in perfectly with the beautiful surroundings! Staff and supplies were very nice, as was dinner in their restaurant and the included breakfast- which was very nice for “take away” to our room/balcony. We enjoyed making use of the fire pit alongside the lake on a crisp night. Highly recommended; would definitely stay again! Only one thing made our stay one notch less than the highest rating for Comfort: our room was unbearably hot, and there was no way to close the heat vent in the ceiling (the vent was broken and missing it’s closure door). So excessive heat poured into our room all night. The staff explained they were aware, the system is centrally controlled and management is looking at replacing the entire system. However, until then they should replace any room’s broken ceiling vent with a working, closing one - a simple $10-$20 fix from the hardware store. Comfort of guests should be top priority until the system is replaced.

However, the grab & go snack is a plus👍 - Beautiful lake view Very noisy heater, always had to try several times to unlock the door. It says the rental of canoe and kayaks are included, but when I checked the counter, was told that it was supposed to be, but somehow the booklet for rental was not available, so, No! And it was part of the reason I chose to stay with this hotel. Quite disappointing 🥹

- Ihor (10/5): The Great Pines is an Adirondack Gem, I plan to come back often. - It was a calm stay in Old Forge. The Great Pines lodge is an old comfortable friend whose warm embrace on a cold October morning in the Adirondacks was so soothing. The breakfast offerings were nice for a lodge experience and much better than any hotel chain breakfast experience. The remote check-in experience was a bit clumsy. I was able to maneuver the check-in directions with existing emails and text messages. I must admit the Wi-Fi at the Great Pines was a lifesaver and prevented me from having to call the available help phone number.

I would prefer a queen bed and more space for luggage and space to sit comfortably (lounge chair). Also, the heater was very loud and sat next to the bed we slept on. The other bed we could us because it sagged on one side so we used it for our luggage.

- Timothy (4/5): - Booked a Lakeside one bedroom cabin suite. It was dark dingy the windows were dirty. The worst part was the dividing doors between the two rooms. We might as well have a curtain there. It was not even close to soundproof. We felt like we were sharing a room with strangers, could hear every word of their conversations and all other “activities “.
- MELINDA (10/5): - This is the perfect Adirondack lodging. We stayed in the motel in a double room. It had a spectacular view of the lake. The resort was very tranquil. Self check-in went smoothly. The grounds are very well-maintained. We enjoyed walking along the dock for a close view of the lake front. The property has Adirondack seating with spectacular views, fire pits, and lodge amenities like board games available. The continental breakfast was just what we needed as was the late evening dinner at Lean To restaurant. We will definitely be back!

There was no one at the desk, just a sign instructing us to check email, plus a phone number to call. Once we got in touch with staff, they were very friendly and explained how to check in and where our room was. The room view from the second story lodge room was glorious, especially at dawn. The bed was comfortable. It was very clean; the establishment is older, so the bathroom tiles were not in good shape. We recommend this place.

There were no food options, except for a self-serve continental breakfast available for only 2 hours 8-10am. The lean- too, i guess their restaurant was closed due to equipment malfunction.

- Tammy (9/5): Gorgeous views and rooms except front desk employees - The room was perfect. The views and amenities were lovely. The front desk ladies were not so friendly. When someone told the dark headed woman the coffee was empty she snapped at them and said. “How would I know unless someone says something”. Yikes. The front desk staff.
- Susan (6/5): - We only stayed here to rest, relax, and sleep-in. But, the heater in our room woke us up every 15 minutes because it sounded like freight train was coming through the wall (it was 37°, so turning it off wasn't an option). In addition, construction on the site started at 7:45am and went on all day. It was a little tough getting our loggage to our room as it was all gravel and wood chip surfaces, so you couldn't roll a suitcase. Finally, the miniscule bathrooms had no place to put anything and the kiddie-size toilet was a nightmare to get on and off of. It was an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS location, the breakfast room availability was nice, and the fireplace and view were great. So, if you don't stay in one of the small cabin-like rooms, and the construction is finished...it would be a really nice place to stay! This just wasn't our experience.
- Daniel (6/5): - Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Be prepared to go online to check in. No staff on Mondays and Tuesdays. Restaurant is closed both days. No coffee in lodge. 2 coffee pods (2 cups of coffee) in room for 2 night stay. Can't use canoes or paddle boards those days since no one is there to give you a life vest or paddles. Beautiful lake view off docks and at the lodge. The grounds were nice.

- Debbie (9/5): Overall we had a lovely time, as the location is great. - The view was great and we loved the little township nearby. The fireplace was also great to have. The heating in the room turned on by itself at 2am and was very hot. We had to open our window and door to let the heat out. This happened to the other guests near us. We were in room 2. It would be great if there was a small restaurant on site. Or if the 'lean to' bar had a abit more than just two bar snacks. As we would happily have stayed in one of our nights, and had some drinks and food in the bar. The piilow could be better quality...they were a bit lumpy.
- Frank (10/5): - My wife and I stayed at Great Pines for only one night to enjoy the Adirondacks for a day in the fall. Our room faced the lake and it had a beautiful view. I loved the fact that the rustic lobby was opened all the time and we were able to enjoy that beautiful room in the evening with a glass of wine and during the morning as we enjoyed our coffee time. The continental breakfast didn't offer too much but it was fine. I love the Adirondack feel to this place and we will definitely stay at Great Pines again.

- John (8/5): - The Room has a beautiful view of the lake and the staff was very helpful in honoring our request for room 26. We had stayed in this room in the past and enjoyed it very much. However there were a couple issues that we experienced last year and they still there now. One being the toilet it was very loose and needs a new wax seal or just tightened up. Probably replacing would be the way to go.There is a screen missing from one of the window for the past two years.It seems that general maintenance. is lacking which is to bad because it is a beautiful piece of property.
- Debbie (2/5): - I wanted to love Great Pines, but instead, they almost ruined our tenth anniversary. I made reservations 3 months in advance, exchanged texts and spoke to them on the phone 3 times, making special arrangements, but when we arrived Thursday late afternoon for our two-day romantic getaway after driving hours to get there, we were told they had cancelled our reservation 6 weeks prior and had emailed us to let us know. They did not. The room was paid for at booking. They said they had refunded the money when they cancelled. They had not, but it was quietly credited to my card within an hour of our conversation. They could have easily picked up a phone and made a call, but they did not. Instead, they blamed Expedia. Then, we were told a bride had wanted the entire resort for her wedding, so our reservation was cancelled. After my husband spoke to the manager and I sat in the car crying, we were offered an out-of-the-way room for the night, but told we would have to leave first thing in the morning. No, thank you. I was furious. After all my planning and multiple calls to make sure everything was perfect, someone with more money came along and ruined my plans. If they had at least called, I would have been upset, but I would have had time to make other plans. Great Pines showed very poor management and didn't even have the professional grace to handle things kindly.
- Sean (6/5): - It had a great lake view - if you walked over to see it. No staff on hand to ask questions. No bar or restaurant while we were there. Its more of a self serve kinda place. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable.

Although it was pretty clean for a cabin in the woods, there were cobwebs, spiders and dust. Window over the bed was broken and couldn't be securely closed.

- Annette (8/5): - The grounds are very nice, classic ADK atmosphere. The lobby and great room is cozy and wonderfully decorated. Our room was what we expected at an older lodge. Some stains on the carpet and very dusty iron bed frame. No air conditioning but we had a noisy fan. Breakfast was self serve coffee, tea, juice. Bagels and individual packets of hot and cold cereal. The view was worth the trip. Lots of seating outside to enjoy the lake. This is not a hotel, it a lodge and if that’s what you are looking for this is the place to be. It’s perfect if an Adirondack experience is what your looking for.

The bed was comfortable and the view from the shared deck was beautiful. We enjoyed the free use of a canoe. For the price, it would have been nice to have some non carb options for breakfast.

It give us a room till 4:35 pm pass the 4 pm check in. Asked if we wanted a room with a balcony I said “yes” even though we waited they gave us a room on the ground floor Also 3 of the big slides were not working and the lazy river was closed that left very little to do. Again for what they charge they did not even give us all the attractions nor did they tell you this when we booked. We should have gone to kalahar where all rides are open. Finally breakfast for the 3 of us was $100 That is 33 dollars for scrambled eggs and sausages and coffee. Kind of steep. Overall feel like I was cheated out of the full experiences because the rides were not working yet they charged us for the full experience. F

- Amy (8/5): - Absolutely loved the location- right on the water. property sits up high so there is a very big view of the lake. We Also loved the look of the lodge - which had a very classic adirondack lodge feel with a giant moose head over a stone fireplace. The front porch was so welcoming and relaxing, and it caught a nice breeze like a wind tunnel. I also really liked that we could check in remotely and had keyless entry (pad with code). Rooms were remodeled and modern yet rustic, so they felt cozy but fresh, with super comfortable beds. We rented a pontoon and had use of the dock, and there is a fenced in area for dogs. Loons on the lake calling at night were the finishing touch! The only thing i would ding the facility on is the mold in the bathroom shower. It's easy to bleach or use some other cleaning agent/strip and re-caulk... For the price and being a recently updated and an otherwise cleanly kept facility, there should be no black mold like that. It was quite a bit in the caulked areas. really recommend that be taken care of. But otherwise, we loved it.

- adam (2/5): - bathroom shower was covered in mold, room wasnt very clean when we got in, walls super thin could hear people walking up and down stairs and people talking down in the office area, we had 3 kids with us and non of slept more then 3 hours, claimed to be an ac room and none of us could sleep or be comfortable because it was so hot in the hotel/room, also the staff seemed very inconvenienced any time we asked a question. family of 5 was only given 2 towels in the room. not what we expected for 450$ at all.. very dissapointed.

The shower was a little tight . Love the grab and go breakfast. The smoke alarm flashes green and a bright light all night long.
