- James (10/5): - I left my AirPods and the owner helped me out, really appreciated it. Thanks!
- Keary (10/5): Host was awesome. I would recommend and stay here again.. - Proximity of the location. Perfect no complaints.
- Francis (8/5): Great little efficiency apartment. - Location was great very good access to downtown area restaurants & water front areas. Apartment stayed warm even as we opened windows , no heaters were in use, an my wife don’t use fans but we had one available.
- gary (8/5): Met our needs - Great location Long staircase
- Elisabeth (7/5): - No breakfast offered
- Mariel (10/5): Wat een waanzinnig leuk appartement - Groot en zo’n leuk en schattig appartement met historische aspecten Niets op aan te merken
- ERIN (10/5): - Centrally located for dining and shops, this property was perfect for my husband and me for a 5 day stay in Seward.
Staff is amazing and helpful, place was clean and very cozy.
We will definitely be staying here again!

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old, historic building. Great location in town. Door lock was tricky. Clean apartment.
- Pedro Pablo (8/5): - Excellent location. Very comfortable and well equipped for a short stay. Lack of communication with owner/s, administration
- Deauville06 (8/5): Very central to local shops in Seward. Older apartments but well maintained. -
- Walter (5/5): - Breakfast: Self-catering. We first received an incorrect door code. The correct door code was only sent to us when we were already on the way and we did not receive it. The password for WiFi was wrong. Rusty fittings and radiators in the bathroom.
- Joan (5/5): -
- Jeffrey (6/5): - The location was great for walking or getting transportation. There were restaurants and bars nearby. Quiet at night. Seemed clean. Needs a lot of upkeep and updating. Pretty rough.
- Penny (10/5): - Check in was easy and worry free, bed was comfy, clean, centrally located. Private entrance. Quiet. Staff helpful and welcoming, quick to respond to your questions. Definitely recommend staying here. We were there for a week. Loved it!
- Lorna (9/5): Charming and cozy - Old fashioned charm with all the modern amenities. Very clean. Great location. My only complaint, and I recognize this is very personal, is the bed. We are a couple in our 60 and it was easy to soft for us. Still it was an amazing stay.
- Katherine (7/5): Great location! Historic building - Location The beds weren’t great. One in room 4 needs to be tightened because the squeaking was very loud.
- Maria (3/5): Definitely regret booking here - The location was good The room is very very small - there is nowhere to put bags and the bed is horrendous. There is a metal frame which was so squeaky/creaky you couldn’t even roll over in bed. It was also two mattresses stacked with a topper on top of that and it was on a lean with a saggy bit in the middle. I don’t know how this can be considered suitable for renting out
- Zoltan (10/5): Great location, well stocked appartment - We had app. 6. There is a bed, sofa, a table with two chairs and a well stocked kitchen in the room. Bathroom is big with window and has a closet for the luggages. Room is a bit small but was OK for us two. It is in the centre so you do not need to use the car during the stay. We liked the heritage value of the building and fixtures! There are coin washing machine and drier next to the app. 6. Starcase could be tricky with huge luggages. -
- Sandy (10/5): Wonderful! Don’t miss this very special historical property in the middle of town - Stunning historical room in the center of town. The main living area was an extremely large space with sofas , arm chairs and dining area all overlooking the Main Street with large balcony style windows It was historical , comfortable and in the center of town- with a view of mountains and ocean. The company I dealt with ( especially Hannah ) were extremely helpful even suggested places to eat and ideas on sightseeing. 2 short wonderful days. Positive - We were able to drop off our luggage in the morning in the hallway. / room as we arrived very early from a cruise. But - just be aware the apartment is on the second floor - so we needed to carry our 50 pound suitcases up one flight of stairs. But we managed ! Would book the same apartment in a heartbeat
- Sarah (6/5): - We liked that this property was right in downtown and we could walk to mostly everything. The only thing that was unpleasant was that the water wasn’t hot if we took showers in the morning. It was hot if we took showers at night. It was also hard to get our bags up to our room because of the stairs, so I would definitely take a small bag if you’re going to stay here. We were disappointed that you had to pay for laundry. It definitely wasn’t a spot for cooking because there were very few supplies in the kitchen, so I would plan to eat out while you’re there. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We also appreciated the fan that was included in the closet because it does get pretty hot in the room without it. We enjoyed our stay.
- Julia (8/5): Old but nice - The apartment was in an old building and smelled old, but I didn't mind; it was very quaint. There were no dark shades over the windows so it was hard to get it dark enough to sleep. It was nicely updated and had a nice kitchen that was fully stocked (no food). The WiFi hardly worked at all, so we were not able to watch any TV at all. The water in the bathroom sink was switched so the hot water was on the right. We did enjoy our stay though and the location couldn't have been better - close to shopping, ASLC and great views from our windoes.
- Toni (10/5): We would stay here again next time we are in Seward. - Great little apartment. Centrally located with beautiful views. No complaints
- Kimberly (8/5): Clean and Friendly - Communication about which apartment was ours was a bit confusing but they quickly communicated even after their regular business hours. Very clean accommodation in a historic piece of Seward. Great location downtown; could walk everywhere!
- Deborah (5/5): Passable -
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): - This is a beautifully well maintained property that offers you a look back into Alaskas rich history. Absolutely recommend!
- Terry (10/5): - We had a great stay in Seward. Our apartment was in the heart of downtown-walking distance to shops, restaurants, Sea Life Center & Waterfront Park. We had a private bathroom, futon, kitchen amenities. We had a studio apartment but it was fine for just the 2 of us.
- Kimberly (10/5): - The apartment was perfect for a short stay in Seward. It had a kitchenette with all the necessary things you would need and a nice bathroom.
- hazel (10/5): - Nice clean small but do have very things you need you can walk around to the park see more things is beautiful island
- Ueli (10/5): GREAT PLACE TO STAY - What an experience! A vintage house, but renovated with love and style! Gives such a cozy and welcome ambiente! Privat bathroom, a big kitchen, to be honest a big apartment anyway! Warm recommend for this place, property is in the center where you can reach everything! Nothing to say here, i had everything i've needed for my vacation stay!
- John (8/5): Nice place in a historic location - Good communication with the property management with instructions on how to access the building. The only real problem we had was the apartment was billed as having a queen sized bed. It was not but rather a full sized bed. We spent an uncomfortable night trying to sleep in such a small bed. The futon cover was stained and was not fit to sleep on. Also, the ceiling fan blades have 1/4” of duct in them and really \needs a good cleaning. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to bring our food in to cook dinner and breakfast. I’d stay there again.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Douglas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): - We loved the historic building, very cool. More importantly it was very comfortable, clean and a great location. We had a great stay and would recommend to others.
- Amelia (7/5): Good - Cold
- Janet (6/5): Overall the room was cozy and comfortable - Refrigerator. Freezer part was fully iced up. The
Refrigerator part not very cold and set on max.
Bathroom sink hot water knob broken put useable.
The shower leaked badly at the connection and the adjustment knob too sensitive.
- Gabriel (8/5): Great place but needs to improve customer service - Great Location, Nice building The host is only responsive through text messaging which we didn’t have access to, the wifi password they provided wasn’t right and we didn’t get and answer until we left ( we wrote to the email they provided and through the booking.com app)
- Joanne (8/5): Know before you go - Great place to stay. RUSTIC and historic.
- Heather (8/5): Very good -
- Alexander (5/5): Adequete but not comfortable - Good location Our unit was on the back of the building, was small and cramped with a high top table with 2 chairs .....the idea that the only place to rest or write was on a high chair?
Hot water was sporadic, sometimes non existent. We had to ask for additional dinner plates
The idea that "home away from home" can be achieved by providing 2 spoons 2 knives, 2 forks 2 bowls and 2 plates is naive at best. I sense that other units were renovated to a better standard
- Sharon (4/5): - B&H appears to be a bit of a work in progress...
I appreciate the history, but for the price would like to see considerable updates.
1. Steep stairs going to rooms. It's one thing to state no elevator onsite, but another to have to haul luggage up that staircase. I'm fit, anditwas doable, butnot easy.
2. A door that locks. Both the main entrance and the room doors were very very difficult to deal with. Especially the room door... though the front door accessible from the street was also a challenge.
3. Wifi was terrible. Neither of us couldget online for more than a mi ute or two before being bumped off. Fortunately i had phone service but my travel mate did not. When we could access was verrrrrry slow.
4. Update the pipes. I don't want lead poisoning.....
And last, 5, explain street parking.... again, maps took us to the alley. No one wants to lug suitcases around the block!!
- Kent (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent No extra blankets. Leaky faucet
- Weiting (10/5): - Super cute apartment
- Dave (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (4/5): - The room was very small and poorly maintained, and not very clean.
- Jorge (8/5): Like olde time charm - No breakfast. Like olde time historic charm
- Liz (10/5): - I loved how easy check in was and we really enjoyed the Seward Alehouse just up the street!
- Kaylee (10/5): - Very cute and clean. Love the history.
- Rachel (10/5): - It was fun to stay in such a historical space. Nothing fancy but we had everything we needed. Theres lots of places to eat and drink and shop right out the front door. We loved walking along the water in the evenings after our adventures. Perfect for two and a third if they dont mind the pullout couch. I'd stay again.
- Susan (6/5): It was overall ok but overpriced. - Location , historical, quiet Chairs wobbly, bed location cramped, very small, inadequate lighting above beds.
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (6/5): Pleasant - Shower was cold
No hot water in room 2
- Scott (7/5): Good - A historic building right in the centre of Seward, makes this a convenient place to stay. Has all the essentials but nothing more. The continuing works to update the rooms and communal space will make this better as tome goes. The history on the walls as you pass down halls are a nice touch. A double bed pushed into a corner makes it difficult for two people when one has to climb over the other to get in and out.
- Charles (6/5): Interior spaces and accommodations weee fine. - Good location. The front stars were a challenge but fortunately the rear access was much more reasonable.
- Rebecca (8/5): - The property was well-kept for its age. The studio unit itself was clean and cozy. The location was central to many shops and things to see.
The noise from people walking through the hallway and up/down the stairs wasn't muted by our apartment walls and made sleeping difficult. We had also paid for a queen unit and had a full-size bed instead. There was no discernable thermostat and we both were too warm overnight.
- Scott (10/5): Great stay in Seward - The apartment was clean comfortable and in a great location. The reception staff was nice, helpful and accomodating. The studio apartment was small, but as advertised
- Wayne (8/5): It worked out well for us - Good location little creepy winding through hallway and stairs
- Becky (10/5): - Liked the property (we rented #8). It was clean, excellent location, and more spacious than expected. Kitchen was stocked with just enough for two. We often ate meals in the apartment. Would stay here again.
- Michael (2/5): Very tatty and tired. - Exterior appearance of the building - not much else! Very tatty and tired. ‘Historic’ should not mean chipped 1980’s furniture, marked and damaged paintwork, stained and torn linoleum, missing ceiling panels and a rear entrance that resembles a Victorian slum. Sleeping room is small.
- Peter (8/5): A great location plus lots of information on entry and tourist attractions - Very much liked the heritage value of the building and fixtures
The owners have made an amazing contribution towards the history of this town
- Paulette (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay in Seward and the B & H was a large part of that. The location is fantastic. Getting in out is very easy. With that being said our room did not really lock. You could get the latch to catch but a little pressure and it would open. We did not feel safe leaving our valuables in the room. The staff was fantastic. Gave a place to relax while we waited for the room they were putting a TV in. All in all we really liked it and would stay again. Paulette and Gina.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Funky, historic, old Alaska building. If you like to experience a little bit of history, this is your place. You’re not staying in a Marriott, just remember that. The floors creak and the door is thin, but you’re inside a building with a locked entrance door at street level with just six apartments upstairs, so it feels safe. Old radiator heat says grandma’s house and we loved it.
- Marcia (7/5): It’s a good place strictly for sleeping. - Location is excellent. Beds are comfortable. The musty smell that required the windows to be open all the time and the water that wasn’t clear.
- Barbara (8/5): Very good - Too many emails from property
- R-y-a-n (8/5): Very good -
- Traci (2/5): NO Communication or Refund - I could never get a hold of anyone for a conversation about check in- They have a check-in time of only 3 pm-5 pm.. this was not made visibly aware until after I had made and paid the reservation. Then NO ONE would answer the phone. A 3 hour drive for that crap! I paid for a room I never got to check-in and stay in. NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever.
- Anthony (6/5): Very expensive for property under construction. - Self contained was convenient. Ability to store luggage for a couple of hours was helpful. Staff were very friendly on the phone. The staircase was a nightmare with luggage, the property was being renovated with workmen and equipment everywhere. Instructions of remotes in room non existent. Bed very uncomfortable and overall smell about the property and bed.
- Carol (6/5): - Great Location.
- Jacquelynn (10/5): - It was so clean and quaint!! Like a step back in history.... we will absolutely stay again.
- Thomas (10/5): Excellent stay. The kitchenette was nice. Clean. Great location. -
- David (8/5): Alaska trip 2023 - Property itself was great, self contained and centrally located, issues arose around the heaters not working, particularly in the bathroom, we stayed in room 8 at the back of the property located next to the rear stairs, neighbours across the way continually coming and going at all hours of the day and night and using the washing machine. Great to have an onsite washing machine and dryer.
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Jessica (4/5): - The hotel was so run down. The walls were incredibly thin. When someone moved in another apartment, we heard it and were woken up by it.
- Monica (9/5): Superb - Bathroom door was annoying; in the way of the kitchen dining area. We propped it open at night so we wouldn’t walk into it on our way to the bathroom during the night or early morning hours.
- Gregory (4/5): - Not what we expected exept location.
- Lana (10/5): Exceptional - Space. Locks on room and layout of room was wonky.
- Ralph (6/5): - This is in a great location within a few minutes walk of the Sealife Centre and all the shops on 4th Ave. Unfortunately, Apartment 6 is misrepresented in the Orbitz description, which states it has a queen-size bed. The bed was a full-size, which is much too small for my husband and me to sleep in, so I was relegated to the click-clack sofa which was uncomfortable, resulting in a sore back for me for several days. The full bed was also very noisy when my husband changed position in the night. Adding to the noise was the rain pounding on the roof all night, and a heating/cooling unit or something on the adjacent roof. However, there was no traffic noise or people noise.
- Carol (5/5): Passable - Historical building was unique! The place could have been cleaned better, there was stuff all over the bathroom mirror and stove. And please have a box of Kleenex and some soap!
- Kien (8/5): Great location. Pricy but small, nice and clean - The little kitchen was convenient! The price was expensive for a small place
- Jeffery (9/5): Superb -
- Ricardo (8/5): - Room was very clean. There is a convenient washer and dryer in the building that we found very helpful after hiking several days. Back stairs are a bit scary.
- Keith (8/5): - It was a cool historical building and the studio room was clean, but the bed was way to soft and noisy.
- Jagadeesh (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gene (2/5): - Old run down no tissues in bathroom. Living room didn’t even have a pace to sit with the TV, just a futon, just not very nice
- Nancy (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (7/5): Good -
- Ruth (8/5): - Funky old apartment style accommodations. There was lots of room and the bed was comfortable.
- Sacha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good - Location Perfect!!! Easy access! Accommodating.
- Lina (8/5): I would recommend this stay to anyone travelling to Seward! - The room was cute and comfy in a great location in downtown Seward. The owner allowed for bag storage during the day since we were relying on buses to get around town. We made a mistake with our bags and the owner went out of her way to help us retrieve them and make sure we did not miss our bus. We are super grateful for her help and the great stay!
- Oreet (7/5): Disappointed - It was clean The description does not say how steep the stairs are. Nor does it tell you that when you finally reach the second floor it is not all on one level.
You have no way to control the heat.
There is no comfortable place to sit and eat
The bed barely fits, one person has to climb over the other and if you are short you really can't reach the bed.
- Chris (9/5): A rather "European" place to stay but quite comfortable and had everything we needed. - This was a great place. Definitely not a run-of-the-mill motel. We had to figure out the door lock system, and of course carry our bags up the stairs and along corridor. Our room was at the back so it was quiet (except for the rain hammering on the roof most of the night). But it was basic and comfortable. Very nice to have a kitchen and loved that there were real coffee beans for breakfast, wine glasses to use. We look forward to returning and staying longer, knowing we can fix our own meals.
- Chan (8/5): Very good - Location! Wooden floor a bit squirky.
- Cassandra (4/5): Disappointing - Location I was injured at the property due to no lights at the back entrance and no watch your step. The owner has fail to respond after asking for their insurance information.
- Beverley (10/5): Good value and comfortable - The communication was great. Risky let us store our bags and even transported them to the property including carrying them upstairs. Very friendly service.
- Clements (7/5): Good - The location was excellent! Great to have dedicated parking. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. Wifi was good and all instructions were clear and easy to follow. Quaintly decorated and furnished to fit the building. The bedroom area was smaller than expected. It was offered in online communication to put twin beds together, and I did request this because it was offered. I got confirmation that it would be done, but they were still set up as twins when we got there. I'm sure this would have been rectified if we'd asked, but it wasn't that important to us and we arrived late in the day. It would maybe have made the room seem less cramped though. Took a bit for hot water to heat up, but it did and stayed hot.
