Guest Reviews
- Beth (8/5): - I thought it was odd there was no microwave in the room. Was able to go to the lobby to use the microwave there for popcorn. Clean and spacious room. Plenty of parking.
- Gary (10/5): - It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the peaceful location. Everyone was very friendly!!!
- Ronald (6/5): - Property needs updating, desperately. Start with removing all the stained and blackened caulking around shower.
- Charles (6/5): - The check in lady was very nice. The staff in the morning couldn't have cared less about anything. No coffee either.
- Ted (8/5): - Door was busted on inside of bathroom and the air conditioner stopped working and I would have to get up and turn it off and back on.Other than that I would stay there again.š
- ed (10/5): - Room was way above average in size, staff very friendly
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Ronald (6/5): - The room was clean and very spacious . The problem was the smell. I smelled musty and old. Also I had to kill a roach that was on the dresser. We had to put our suit case back in the car overnight. We checked the closet and the drawers in the dresser, but did not find anymore bugs.
- James (10/5): - All the times I have traveled through this area I have never stayed here - but will be my go to place from now on. Big rooms, clean and well maintained. Good value.
- Denise (10/5): - We very much enjoyed our stay at this classic motor lodge just outside of Marlinton. Good value, friendly staff, easy check-in and check-out. A great stay for the price in a beautiful area. The Beds were very comfortable and the room had lots of space. Clean and everything worked as it should.
- Carolyn (10/5): - There is a nice outdoor space in the back of the hotel we enjoyed with many other guest. We grabbed chairs that were in front of each room and cooked up snacks in the fire pit. The hotel welcomed the use of the yard on a beautiful night.
- Debbie (8/5): - not many places to eats close by
- Chris (10/5): - Nice
- Pamela (4/5): - The shower was good. It was clean. Lighting in the room was very poor. The little refrigerator in the room was evenly malfunctioning, the water we put in there froze soild....room needs to be updated. However we felt safe and slept well.
- Sid (6/5): - Hotel room smelled of marijuana front desk staff really didnāt care and didnāt want to even give us air deodorizer to help with the smell
- Priscilla (10/5): - Very nice people very clean definitely a good price I would stay again
- yongde (6/5): - e
- Justin (4/5): - Our stays here are normally great, but this one had some problems. We spotted 2 cockroaches in the room, and the mini-fridge (on its lowest setting) froze two of our drinks solid and ruined them. The room was otherwise clean.
- Patricia (10/5): Overnight stay - Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful with directions to places to eat and Cass Mountain Railroad. Enjoyed very much
- Virginia (10/5): - The motel was right in the area we needed it to be, mostly quiet and room was clean. I would definitely stay here again.
- Linda (10/5): - Out of town and very peaceful
- Chanda D (6/5): - Over all, it was a great place. There was not a microwave and more pillows. It waa spacious and clean.
- William (10/5): - The the staff was very helpful, and the room was really nice. It was newly remodeled and very clean. The bed was really comfortable too.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel would not honor our reservation made thru Hotels.com, therefore I cannot comment on the property. The entire event was a nightmare
- Jayne (10/5): - Nice
- Kelly (10/5): - Loved my stay.
- Carl (8/5): - Very fairly priced. Clean and comfortable
- David (8/5): Good for a night - it appeared my room had a recent makeover.. everything nice and clean.. the appearance outside needed a makeover too
- April (6/5): - The bathroom was dirty, floors needed swept, beds were hard, had trouble with tv.
- Sheri (6/5): - There was no restaurant, no pool. Room had a strange odor, possibly the cleaning agent.
Staff was polite and helpful.
- Janis (8/5): - This was a third trip to the Marlinton Motor Inn. We always stay when we come to ride the train. The hotel is old and dated, but clean. The beds are comfy for a nights sleep. If your looking for the Hilton, this is not for you, but if your in the area and need a quick place to stay, this is your place. We were very disappointed that the lounge/bar had closed, that was a staple of us staying there. We would stay again, but werenāt as excited this visitā¦
- Joanne (8/5): - Location was good for my trip. Large room. Clean large pool. Pretty views of mountains. Comfortable bed, good AC. Felt very safe. Family friendly. Frig in room.
No microwave. Advertises jacuzzi, lounge neither open. Check in process was pretty old fashioned. Mostly handwritten, line backed up as only one on duty. But friendly just took longer. Pool was hard to find. Since I had asked how late it was open would have nice to be told where it was. It was very hidden away no where near my room. Had to go ask where it was. Did have pool towels in pool area. Curtains blow up and a bit open while AC runs maybe add some weights to bottom of them? No food options too close but gas station, conveience store next door.
- Paula (10/5): - N/A
- Ray (10/5): - Loved coming here for the night! Despite seeming like an older motel, it's definitely worth it still. Internet access is good, the beds are comfy enough, and the staff are quick and kind. If I'm ever down this way again, I'd love to stay the night again!
- Glenn (10/5): Big Surprise! - I read a lot of bad reviews after booking the room and was expecting the worst, fearing that I had made a mistake with the booking . Man was I wrong, the desk clerk was very pleasant and helpful, the room was very nice and clean with everything working. Great place in a great location. The only downside is no cell service due to a radio telescope in the area. Use WiFi to set your GPS BEFORE you go traveling. Wi Fi is on the property and at most destinations in the area to set your GPS to travel to your next destination.
- Tabitha (6/5): - It was a nice place and very quiet but they have RATS will not be staying there again not for the price...šš
- Amy (8/5): - I've always loved this motel. So cozy but the beds weren't comfortable. But overall its a great place to stay in the area.
- Paul (2/5): - The bed was hard as rock the older ladie up front was rude
- Shawn (8/5): - Didn't like that there was no food options there. Vending machines might be a good suggestion for them.
I like location, and the quiteness.
- Andrew (8/5): - Scenery was excellent.
- Tammy (10/5): - Easy check in, clean rooms. New pool. Convenient to hiking areas. Greenbrier river trail.
- Stephen (8/5): - It was in a beautiful area, but there was no restaurant like the sign claimed.
I slept well.
- Justin (10/5): Consistently A Good Stay - Another great stay at Marlinton Motor Inn. Our room had a view of the mountains. Room was clean.
- Christian (10/5): - A very nice hotel to stay at
- Bryan (10/5): - The room was nice and comfortable. The bed was hard for me and pillows were hard for me, but I got a good sleep. The room was laid out nicely.
- Janet (2/5): - Mushrooms growing near the shower.
- Sheila (10/5): - It was really nice, and enjoyed our stay, the lady that worked the front desk,i think her name was eva ,she was awesome made us feel right at home,
- Daniel (6/5): - Budget motel where there are no others. Clean, with a super friendly staff. Rooms are adequate for a good nights sleep, but are a bit small as are the bathrooms. This is an older motel so rooms definitely are dated. Always felt safe and would stay again if in the area.
- Lisa (8/5): - Jacuzzi lusted on website and signage on front of hotel. No jacuzzi. Pool was closed due to chemicals. Staff was very friendly, rooms are dated but clean.
- Becky (10/5): - Nice remodeled room! Friendly staff! No breakfast and location out of town
- Susan (10/5): - It was a great experience
- Margaret (6/5): - Out-dated, uncomfortable bed and pillows. 1970's vintage motel. No frills, a lot of rooms but nothing fancy. Nice, hot showers. Clean towels.
- Corinne (10/5): - All I needed for an overnight stay while driving through the area at a very good price. My only criticism is the lack of a microwave oven and no possibility to eat a quick meal in the room.
- Mitchell (10/5): - The area arround this hotel is stunningly beautifull for biking and driving.
- Margaret (10/5): Would stay again. - The shower and bathtub with hot water. I could soak after long ride. Beds are comfortable. It is quite. Oh they had clean rags to ckean bike/trike with
- April (10/5): - Staff is very nice and reasonable price!
- Lenore (6/5): - The room was clean, but I was never able to take a hot shower (both times the water was barely warm), the coffee maker had someone else's old, used coffee in it, and the room temperature was hard to regulate.
- Andrew (10/5): - Nice receptionist, good location
- Richard (4/5): Pet friendly rooms are really dirty.. - We travel with our dog. We stay at pet friendly hotels. This room was nasty. The carpets reeked like pee... It's obvious this is specifically a room for dogs... I'm confused because the review said the place was very clean... There's were holes in the sheets.. The corners hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Lights bulbs were missing... No microwave at all... We went and got frebreeze and emptied the bottle.
- Robert (2/5): - There was no heat. My clothes were cold when I put them back on. I've never seen anything like it.
- Travis (10/5): - Felt like a motel straight out of the 80s
- April (10/5): - We love Sandy! Sheās amazing and we always come here for Snowshoe Skiing!
- April (10/5): - We love Sandy!! We always come here when we come to Snowshoe for skiing trips
- Scott (8/5): - The room was clean and the beds comfortable, however, it is quite an old property and needs updating badly. Outside of building also outdated and needs painting.
- Bichin (10/5): - Thx
- Ben (8/5): - Good price for a motel that had everything I needed. Nothing fancy, but does the job.
- Matthew (8/5): Good basic spot on the way to Snowshoe - Great place to stay for a night on your way to Snowshoe. Price was right, barebones but clean. Note: the restaurant and bar are no longer in operation
- Olga (4/5): Good room but there is a confederate flag - It was clean, warm, and comfortable in the room. But there is a confederate flag in the picture on the wall at the reception. It is not only a shame but also disrespectful to some guests.
- Christine (4/5): - old, unattractive, very basic. good for no other option
- John (10/5): - Affordable and close to Marlinton and Snowshoe.
- James (10/5): - Reasonable price and clean
- Viktoriya (10/5): Great overnight stay - Clean room and exactly as described. The hotel receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It's great if you need no thrills, clean room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect, affordable stay for ski trip - newer room - This is our second stay here for our weekend ski trip to Snowshoe - perfect for the two of us, and very affordable. They gave us one of the newer or more recently renovated(?) rooms on the first floor, close to the office, which was a pleasant surprise. (Their older, more dated rooms are still great - clean, plenty of space, enough to sleep 5, closet and storage space, a lot of countertop/bathroom countertop space, tv, mini fridge). The newer room also sleeps 5 which was more than enough for the two of us. Laminated floors, direct tv, also clean, plenty of space, closet space, a lot of countertop space, mini fridge, nicer shower/tub and bathroom sink, more power outlets. No microwaves though, but there is one in the office lobby. Thereās also plenty of parking. There are a few pretty good restaurants in the nearby town that is about 5mins away and a gas station next door, which is convenient. The roads to Snowshoe are doable and not narrow compared to if we stayed at previous accommodations elsewhere. Itās about a 35-45min drive depending on road conditions. Weāll definitely continue to stay here for our ski trips to save money whenever weāre not staying on-site at Snowshoe.
- Mitchell (10/5): - Great place
- Sabrina (10/5): - The employees and service are amazing and itās much cheaper than staying on snowshoe mtn for snowboarding.
- Douglas (8/5): - Good place
- Michael (6/5): - No dining , no snacks, no drinks that I could find.
- Grisel (6/5): - Only real option if you are planning a quick ski trip to Snowshoe. Very outdated,
Bring your own toiletries. Be prepared, restaurant and lounge are permanently closed, no place to eat. It says jacuzzi but there is none. Staff incredibly unhelpful and disinterested. Too bad, could be a great place.
- Sue (10/5): - Nice place 40 min from snowshoe. Beautiful drive
- Sophia (10/5): - Two young ladies on a weekend adventure together! Marlinton Motor Inn was pleasantly safe and comfortable. So happy to have found a great place for my friend and I to have stayed. I booked online and did not know what to expect.
- Owen (10/5): - Price
- MARY (6/5): - It was an alright place for a quick night stop. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the office and around our room. The beds were old and worn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great, affordable stay for Snowshoe weekend - The room was clean and spacious - perfect for a weekend of skiing. Snowshoe is about a 35-40min drive, but the roads are wide enough compared to others. We had four people, but easily couldāve had a fifth in the room. Thereās a mini fridge and coffee maker, but the microwave is in the office. Thereās a gas station next door which was convenient for a quick, hot breakfast to go as well as some energy drink, which is cheaper than buying at Snowshoe. Thereās a few restaurants in the town about five minutes away. The Alfredoās Italian & Greek was pretty good for dinner.
- Kim (8/5): - Great value, Great staff, Great Bar - little far from the ski mountain but worth the savings. Rooms definitely need some updating.
- April (10/5): - Great service- clean rooms n quiet
- Misty (10/5): - Always convenient for traveling to Snowshoe WV
- Michael (8/5): - Good convenient option -- recommend if you're looking for something budget-friendly that's not too far away from Snowshoe
- Chuck (10/5): - Old motel but clean and affordable.
- Kimberly (6/5): - Room smelled horrible like pure lysol had to open door to air out room stink that bad lien and all staff was wonderful had to leave and find another room for night
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This was the only reasonably priced place we could find for our trip to Snowshoe. The room was spacious and updatedā¦much nicer than the photos on expedia. Warm and comfortable and the drive to Snowshoe was very beautiful and passed quickly each day. I am glad we chose to stay here!
- Chad (10/5): - Great
- James (8/5): - Maintance polite had to get battery changed in smoke detector
- Clara (10/5): Great visit home. - We found our room to be very clean and comfortable. The office personnel were friendly and very helpful with any questions we had. We were able to enjoy our visit home to visit family and friends!
- Roman (8/5): Don't expect much - Pretty old, but well maintained motel. Big rooms. Small bathroom. Friendly stuff. Sometimes shady guests. But mostly people are nice. I usually stay here when I come to ski at Snowshoe or run some trails or GBRT Marathon.
- Julie (8/5): - A good place to stay that wasn't too far from where we were sight seeing. It was a good sized room with a convenient table for eating or storing your extra "stuff."
- Julie (8/5): - No cell phone service
- Regina (10/5): Pleasant surprise! - We were not expecting much for a motel that has obviously been around for a long time (i.e. old), but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were quiet, the beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean.
The only disappointment was the onsite restaurant has closed.
- Alan (6/5): - There is no cell phone service there.
There was no microwave and no breakfast. No table or chair in the room. It was sufficient for sleeping.
The hostess in the morning was nice. I doubt I will stay there again.
- Svetoslav (10/5): - This place was very clean, even a little outdated, but the owners are taking a good care. Clean beds, clean showers and bathrooms. Reasonable pricing. I would stay there again.
- Robert L (2/5): - The worst mattress I have ever tried to sleep on! No wifi that works, the coffee in the room tasted old
