Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very unique concept. Checked in at the desk. When I inquired about the restaurant, I had a choice between pizza and wings. Not a problem. the gentleman at the desk, now became the waiter and cook. While waiting on food, the same gentlemen then became the bartender! Good food, cold beer, prompt service! The rooms could definitely use repair and updating, but for the price it was fine. It appears to be work in process. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again and hope to see improvements in time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the the Deadwood Station Bunkhouse isn't downtown. I frequent the Lodge and it's close by. I don't like that the Deadwood Station Bunkhouse sells out quickly. You gotta plan ahead and book early. The place fills up fast!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was located close to town and very close to where we wanted to be. Lobby and bar were nice
- RM (2/5): - Rooms smelled awful. No hairdryer. Room was in a small dark corner. Very dated. Would not pay over $100 for a room like this anywhere. Gross!!
- Roxanne (8/5): - A little further from town, so would want to take trolley in peak season. We were able to easily park at the trolley station for free and walk town from there. Hotel has the basics with fridge and microwave, but not hair dryer. Folks are pleasant and ready to help. Small danish and oatmeal available for breakfast. Nice place for the night and comfortable beds at a good price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to get on the trolley and to get in and out of. Parking was great right outside the room. Friendly people in the office. Would stay there again
- Josie (6/5): - We found a folded piece of an advertisement in one of the double queen beds. The linen was not changed from the previous occupants!
- Terri (8/5): Rooms were clean and quiet; bed comfortable - The morning staff were very personable; night staff lady was not very friendly and kind of grumpy. The room was very clean and quiet. Temp control was great. The bed was comfortable. Overall good stay and no complaints about the room.
- Dana (8/5): - Decent hotel for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was close to downtown Deadwood, you could take a Trolly for $1 to take you to town or bring you back to the hotel, short distance, very convenient. The room was clean and comfortable, the only thing I didnt like was it smelled like it might have been a smoking room at one time or a hotel like smell, I am not sensitive to smells and didnt notice it once I was in the room for a few minutes. There are also ash trays outside of some rooms and I moved the one by my door because I do not smoke and did not want anyone smoking outside of my room. Overall I was happy with the clean room, good water pressure on the shower, comfortable bed and the check in people were friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. For the price we paid there are no complaints.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Out of town but with the tram calling hourly made getting around great. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the room was not serviced.
- Darcy (10/5): - Courteous at check in. Nice comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Quiet. Slept well. No disturbance . We were able to enjoy visit to Deadwood. We will most likely be returning in the future
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice area, stay was enjoyable, especially riding the trolley around town.
- emily (8/5): - Just fine appreciated it
- Edwin (10/5): - I had a nice stay. Nice and quiet area. I will stay again.
- laurie (6/5): We will give it one more chance. - We have stayed here before and it was great. This time we were in the back room, carpet was dirty, bed was very uncomfortable, and there was a noise on and off during the night.
- Per Eric (8/5): - Friendly Staff
Good Parking
Walkable to Downtown
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Fair location. Staff was wonderful. Room was just not up to par.
- Barbara (10/5): - We enjoyed our wonderful stay at the bunkhouse in Deadwood. The staff was very nice and helped us out to find all the great things to do. They went out of their way to make our stay wonderful.
they have a free breakfast every morning. And free wine while gambling.
- Tim (8/5): - Room was clean staff was friendly hard to get in and out of but overall good experience
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean. Very friendly staff. Easy to get to, trolley comes often to take you to main street.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Good if you are a smoker not terrible if you aren’ - Stinky rooms. Smokers all outside. Didn’t fair well with my kids that have asthma. Breakfast was stale powdered donut. Awful coffee. Not for families.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Found a condim in my room. Brought to the attention of housekeeping. Not that helpful. While the facility advertises non smoking rooms, its irrelevant when everyone smokes on deck in front of rooms, pipping in smoke through air condionin units and vents in bathrooms. Also the hotel charged 3 separate times for room stay. Poor overall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice clean hotel - liked that it was not in the busy section of town,
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not the cleanest but okay
- Laura (6/5): Small but Clean - The room was clean but small for our group of 4 adults. Location was excellent for our needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room very quiet even though next to road bit of a walk to get into town
- James L. (6/5): Nice room and great price! - Not a bad place to stay. The parking lot is kind of screwy to park in where the spots turn 90degrees in the corner of motel . We can’t believe cars haven’t been crunched . Room was OK ,not much for lighting ,one window on the back hillside so not much light ,and lack of receptacles for plugging items in.Other than these things we slept good and enjoyed our stay
- Charles (10/5): Bunkhouse at Deadwood - Clean older property with parking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location probably pick up right at the front doors friendly staff clean rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendliest staff - They have the best customer service I have ever received.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable night stay. - Easy access to the highway into town, but quite a jaunt if walking into town.
- Crystal (4/5): - No hot water and the breakfast was not good at all.
- kimberlee (2/5): - This hotel was no where near the 3 star rating it received on Orbitz. I feel some compensation is due as I wouldn't have booked it otherwise.
- Tammy (10/5): - Great price beautiful room friendly staff will definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for the price - Relatively small room, but great for the price. Could use some updates and some better lighting.
- Daniel (10/5): - Basic hotel, but clean and comfortable.
- Samuel (2/5): Find another place to stay - Drunk, loud, obnoxious others were staying there... walls are paper thin, and the hot water runs out halfway through a shower.... I will never stay here again, not worth the money
- Penny (10/5): Nice place to stay. - It was great.
- Lisa (8/5): Great value - The hotel manager was SUPER awesome! She had great pizza corner pizza ready for us when we called to have it put in oven. The rooms were outdated, but were clean. Quiet area. Beds were comfortable. Pillows had a little to be desired, but that is with most hotels!
- Verified traveler (6/5): No Wifi.
- We were unable to use our computer because their wifi system was not available in our room.
The front desk stated they would fix the problem but never did.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No housecleaning for 4 days - The girls in the lobby were great . After 4 nights of no clean towels ,coffee or made beds (we had 2 rooms ) they gave us 20 dollars of each room
- Marjie (8/5): - Very basic. Would be nice to have a hair dryer, phone book, some information in the room about what is available for dining or events happening.
- Gina (8/5): - Clean and comfortable.
- Kelly (8/5): Decent place for a fun Deadwood experience - While the hotel appears to be older on the outside, we found the rooms to be clean and updated. Staff is very friendly and more than willing to help with any questions. Rates were reasonable, and would definitely stay there again.
- Sherry (6/5): Great Location - Hotel clerk (who was also the waitress & cook) was not very friendly. We tried to eat dinner
at the cafe there on the first night-they were out of most things listed in menu. The waitress
suggested we go to a different place to eat. She was same person there for 2 days, on the
third day (our check out day) there was a very friendly lady.
- Kim (2/5): Not a 3 star! - This hotel is definitely not a 3 star hotel. The carpet was stained & the room smelled moldy. The curtains were dirty & had holes in them. I also don't believe the bedspreads had been washed in a long time. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the staff was very nice. I'm a frequent user of Orbitz & trusted their hotel rating system. Even though this hotel wasn't expensive, I feel some compensation is warranted!
- Lynn (10/5): I'd probably stay again. - Front desk staff was friendly, they shut down breakfast early, there was a used bar of soap in the shower. The trolley stops right in the parking lot so you can go anywhere in town for $1.
- John (8/5): Motorcycle Dead Hills - All good
- Becky (10/5): Comfortable Bed - This was a trip for me and my husband. I have a hard time sleeping in hotel/motels because the bed is to hard. Deadwood Station had the most comfortable we had on this whole trip! I forgot my personal pillow there and called to let them know and they are sending it to me at home. Wonderful staff!!!
- Dennis (2/5): Bad choice - When we went to book this motel it was advertised as having a refrigerator and a microwave and there was none. There was no table or desk in the room so nowhere to sit and enjoy the use of a laptop. Had to utilize the bed and that was not comfortable. When we arrived the night clerk was rude.
- Douglas (8/5): - It was exactly what we needed. we had plans to do things in the Deadwood area and were only around at night to sleep. was close enough to Deadwood to enjoy all there was to do and get there easily.
- Debra (6/5): Motel exterior really needs work - Getting into room was not that easy, had to climb on broken step and step up to pathway. parking was full and they wanted us to park on street. We parked in front parking because we didn't want to park on street. Branch from tree fell into street not long after we got there, that would have landed on our vehicle had we parked on road. Outside really needs some fixing and clean up. Rooms are clean, but very dated and have a musty smell. Town doesn't have much to offer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): first time here - ok place to stay.
long walk to rest of town. 1/2 mile plus with no sidewalk.
- christal (10/5): Nice hotel had great view - We had a blast in Deadwood and the hotel was in a great location and easy to jump on trolley and get to town.wish we could of stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not Bad - This was a pretty good place. The rooms are a little dated but not filthy. The only complaint we had was that we were in a non smoking room and there was a cigarette post right outside our window so we ended up smelling smoke all night and especially in the morning when other guests were out their smoking when they woke up.
- Natalie (10/5): Awesome - Friendly, clean great place to stay
- laurie (8/5): We Will Go Back - This is a decent place to stay and the price is right. The staff was very friendly, parking available, shuttle service available, light rolls and coffee for breakfast. The rooms were clean and the small casino was right there.
- john (8/5): Hotel with great view - We seen big horn sheep every evening walk through the parking lot while we were having a ice cold beverage. The staff was 5 plus.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice and clean place
- Benjamin (10/5): Close to but wasn't downtown, pretty quiet. - ..................................................
- Tammie (2/5): Don't stay here - This hotel did not represent what it said it provided. They said the provided a complement breakfast in the morning we went to the office at 7:00 am and the where closed. The house keeping was very poor I had to ask every day for someone to come back and clean, they would replace my towels that look where stained with other peoples make up and god knows what else.
When I went to the office to complain the only thing they did for me was credit my account $25.00.
I would have checked out of this hotel after the 1st night but Dead Wood was booked and there was no where else to go.
- pandahat (8/5): A good location to explore the area - A few glitches on arrival and a change of room sorted things. Here's a small bus that runs into the main part of Deadwood regularly and costs a $1 each way. Easy parking at the Motel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was hard to find and drove by it twice. The room smelled of stale smoke. We bought spray and ran the fan to circulate the air. We didnt bother telling the staff because mt guess is they all smelled. Other than those issues the room served it purpose. We were there to sleep as we were on vacation and spent most if our time site seeing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Easy to find. Though on a busy junction, while sitting outside, could hear vehicles, but not in room. In room very quiet.
- Michael (8/5): Just what we needed. - Just what we needed. Quiet place to sleep and a little breakfast. We weren't expecting the nice, down to earth staff, tho:) Thank you for letting us come back after check-out to find our 6 year old's baby tooth!!!
- Jimbob (8/5): Off the beaten path - A basic no frills motel. Freindly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Away from the crowds in the downtown area. Easy to find and a trolley service has regular stops. At the end of the day, paid parking downtown is about the same cost as the trolley service & more convenient for coming & going.
- lmt (4/5): Good location - Very disappointed .... Expedia info said coffee house and continental breakfast. When arrived only 1 key worked, coffe shop closed in April and so called continental breakfast was horrible lemonade, tiny bite size old muffins and apples and oranges.
- Zach (8/5): Bare-bones, cheap option near Deadwood - It's pretty basic and the room was smaller than I hoped. It was clean and comfortable enough though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Quiet Hotel - Friendly staff, quiet, at the edge of town. Rooms clean, bed was soft but still slept well. Office not open 11:00 pm - 07:00, so no early breakfast. But, Deadwood isn't an early morning town, only 2 places had breakfast before 07:00.
- Michelle (6/5): You get what you pay for - It had good location to attractions and the free trolley is awesome. The hotel is old and has not had any updates in a long time. There were hairs in the bathtub when we checked in. Staff was pleasant. Desk hours were annoying when you want to check out early because they don't get there til 7. Bartender was great. Overall would stay again
- Stephanie (8/5): Deadwood stay - good location, nice place just to spend night
- Clement (8/5): We frequent this property - We stay at the Bunkhouse often and love the location and the little bar and casino. They have a nice breakfast snack bar in the morning to get you going. Our rooms were in the nook where the ice machine is, that was noisy. Also, out air conditioner worked sporadically. It was cool enough yet it didn't matter that much. I am not sure why, but the last two stays, the rates at the property didn't completely match those booked for on the web. I caught it this last time before we checked out and she corrected it no problem. Just something that needs to be watched and it would be better if that weren't the case. We will be back because we like the staff and the activities at the property. The trolley stops and it's a quick ride to downtown.
