Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): - Very friendly and professional staff. Nice bar, terrific dinner and enjoyable breakfast. The facilities are beautiful. Will definitely return
- Janice (6/5): - The Castle building is in need of cleaning, repairs and updates. It would be a lovely place if they updated the inside decor, cleaned the furniture, repaired lights and found a way to remove the musty smell. Staff was great and the food and service was great. The grounds were stunning and loved the walking trails around the area.
- Travis (10/5): - I stayed here 12 years ago, it was a wonderful stay, again!
- Janet (10/5): - Staying at Belleek was one the highlights of our trip. We loved every moment! The employees were very kind and helpful. The castle is absolutely STUNNING! I would return in a heartbeat! ☘️
- Patricia (4/5): - Draughty worn and not very clean
Too expensive for the facilities provided.
Needs a major renovation
- Jenna (10/5): - The food at both restaurants was fantastic! Had a great stay here!
- Matthew (10/5): - Food and staff were excellent. Great experience to be able to stay in a castle. Would Duffey go back
- ivonne (6/5): - Nice castle
Pity about the bed
Was sunken in the middle and shower had no pressure and head was broken
Pillows were like rocks
Breakfast was very good
- Wilson (10/5): - Loved our stay at Belleek Castle1
- Judy (10/5): - Lovely stay. Beautiful grounds
- Scott (10/5): - An amazing place with a beautiful property and Forrest surrounding it. Highly reccomended. Also, great vegan breakfast.
- Greg (10/5): - Loved the old world charm and friendly staff. The Library restaurant and bar are also amazing! Thanks for a great stay!
- Ella (10/5): - A highlight for us was staying at Belleck Castle near Ballina, County Mayo. The stunning grounds/dense tree walks , the authentic rooms with a view; 4 poster beds and yet modern bathrooms. The food! Main restaurant was high class and Jack Fenn Cafe for a huge breakfast couldn't be faulted.
Do the amazing castle tour to see the fossil and armoury collections and hear about the Doran family history and how this private castle and its uniqueness came to be. The people who work there were all smiles. A gem of a spot. We stayed 3 days, not long enough. ❤️
- Vanessa (10/5): Magical Castle Stay - Our stay at Belleek was amazing. We spent one night here and it was so worth it. We even received a private tour of the amazing antiquities stored here. Our dinner in the evening was the best we had in Ireland. Our server went above and beyond excellent. I ordered the filet that was seared enflambe on an antique sword from the armory below! Our time in the bar for after dinner cocktails was equally well done. The bartender was amazing and the decor was a recovered Spanish galleon that had be added into the wall! This is a don't miss castle stay. My only feedback was cleanliness and some things need updated like worn linens and pillows in the bedroom. A good thorough Spring clean would do it right!
- Dennis (10/5): - The facility was amazing but the entire staff went out of their way to make us feel special. We will stay there again.
- William (10/5): - Beautiful restored manner house. Enjoyed our stay very much.
- Timothy (10/5): Relaxing stay - Driving into the castle, the grounds were neatly kept. The cost to stay in Belleek is reasonable. Check-in was easy; they offered a porter to deliver our luggage. The room was decorated so quaintly. The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom was very clean. They offered toiletries. There was no fan in the room, but we packed one, just in case. The sitting room was a great place to meet other guests. The bar room looked so unique; like a pirate’s bar on a ship. They offered dinner, for an additional costs, though we didn’t eat there. Free breakfast was offered in my package. Hubby and I shared the French Toast each day. On the downside, Our room was over the nightlife, music, drinks and socializing. The music was loud, though not obnoxious. After the music died down, people continued to socialize ; which had loud talkers. There are also beautiful paths, greenways, and hidden gems in the forest beside the castle.
- Emma (10/5): - If you like a modern hotel this is not the place for you. It is full of interesting old memorabilia and history. I have never come across such personable friendly staff. Fabulous meals in both the restaurant and the cafe.
- Stephanie (10/5): - A great experience to sleep in a castle. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the grounds of the castle are beautiful.
- Karen (10/5): - Beautiful old castle and such a treat to stay in the original building with only a few rooms. Lovely wooded grounds for walks. Our room had a four poster bed which was the icing on the cake! The meal was second to none. I would highly recommend this authentic traditional hotel and will definitely be back, hopefully for longer next time.
- Jan (10/5): - Excellent customer service.
- Patrick (8/5): - Wonderful property, grounds are fabulous and rooms are spacious. The restaurant at the Castle was the highlight of our stay
- Bobby (10/5): - I cannot rave enough about this property. Very reasonably priced for such a historic property. Hot showers. Beautiful grounds. Beautiful interior. The free breakfast was absolutely delicious! Not just your regular continental breakfast. It was a hot breakfast by order.
- tom (10/5): - Beautiful walks around castle
- Yolanda (10/5): - Gorgeous setting, excellent service, delicious food.
- Gerard (10/5): - Felt like a king
- Rusty Kay (8/5): - Property was nice. The walking trails were beautiful. Bar service was great! We met the owner, Paul, and he is fantastic. Room #5 was nice. The bed was very comfy. The TV was a bit small due to placing from the bed. There were very limited TV channels, mostly news. There was a small table fan we found in the closet that we had to place on the nightstand because it was hot in the room and we could not figure out how to turn off the heater the first night. No curtains to draw, but there are shutters to block out the light. The ONLY problem we had was water pressure when showering. The was absolutely no water pressure in the room we were in. Ireland is so beautiful and the people are friendly. Even asked how to go about staying in Ireland. I hope the bartender gets to take his kids to Florida to see Disneyland! -Love from Texas
- AISLINN (10/5): - Amazing.
- Angeline (10/5): - Very charming property, loved the rooms, staff was incredible…. Felt like a princess sleeping in a castle !
Would be great if they could include more activities, as there’s not that much to do except explore the woods and castle …. Though the castle tour was exceptional with all the medieval armory.
- Veronica (10/5): - This stay was out of this world! They welcomed us so graciously. It was like spending time in the 1800’s. The hotel is a MUST SEE! A true gem. The details and original decor was unbelievable. The food was so good! The rooms were extremely comfortable. We will be back!
- Jennifer (10/5): - I loved it
- Martin (10/5): - Staying here is a treat, I highly recommend it.
- Stephen (10/5): - Just so different from most accommodation, fun place to stay
- Kate (10/5): Great escape. - Wow, what a wonderful place to escape to. The atmosphere is so authentic. Grounds amazing. Wonderful friendly staff and very welcoming owner.
- Gavin (10/5): - Amazing night in a castle with so much character and medevil artifacts!!
- Mary (8/5): Overnight stay - The staff are amazing. So very friendly and keen to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and served up with care and attention to detail. I would highly recommend this hidden gem!
- James (10/5): - A beautiful and romantic setting.
- Joel (6/5): Disappointing - Disappointing. Nonexistent welcome to hotel. Ignored with eventual slow checkin. Ni help with bags up the stairs with multiple young male staff members watching us. Food disappointing in The Library. Risotto terrible - very dry with no flavor. Ratatouille - mushroom dish not good - tasted like made with a bottle of spicy barbecue sauce / could eat it. The highlight was the lady giving castle tour.
- Gemma (10/5): - I would recommend Belleek Castle without a doubt. Beautiful grounds, helpful, friendly staff and great service and food.
Also, spotless rooms and facilities. Quite central location too. Definitely coming back.....and soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s hard to express how wonderful this property was. I highly recommend giving yourself time for a walk in the woods, have dinner on property, and definitely take the downstairs tour.
- Brenda (10/5): - There’s not much to dislike about this property!! It’s absolutely beautiful!! I highly recommend eating dinner there. Our breakfast was included which was fantastic!! The staff were very friendly. Our bed was super comfy!!! It was a little chilly in the room, but not bad. I highly recommended staying here. If we ever make it back to Ireland this will have to be a must...
- Christine (10/5): - The staff was very attentive and pleasant. Very willing to help with any trip and planning issues. The food was wonderful as well with very nice people all around. Comfortable setting and nicely done castle. Some beautiful touches throughout to make it an authentic experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay for our family! Beautiful castle! We got to walk their dog Reece! My son loved it. Each room of the castle was amazing and the dinner, bar, and lobby were awesome. Highly recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved this property. The tour was fabulous, dinner and breakfast were beautiful. Accomodation was just what we needed for a family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent and relaxing location, old and charming building, fantastic dinner
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaintness and peacefulness. Food excellent. Did like and not very happy that 2 beds put together .Should have 1 mattress and proper double bed .This took from the whole experience. This was a special treat for my partners birthday and really spoilt the intimacy of the occasion .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful property and staff. Truly wonderful. Loved the castle tour with our knowledgeable guide ~ and our late night Smithwicks ~ with a hat~ with Paul in the coolest bar ever, The property manager was a gem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The walks on the grounds were picturesque . And the food in restaurant was mouthwatering
- Martina (10/5): - Our stay was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful. And there is the friendliest dog (Reece) in residence there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fit for a king - The grounds around the castle are amazing. The castle is beautiful. It is a shame that a tour of the castle costs extra for guests staying there. The food is amazing! Our breakfast was fit for a king (and queen).
- RCM (10/5): - We were a family group who arrived later than we had hoped. Staff accommodated all our needs and interest and we had a wonderful stay. the dinner and breakfast were delicious thanks for the great castle experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Castle and Grounds - Very accommodating staff. Great bartender and delicious food, too! Beds were comfy and exploring the castle and its grounds were wonderful.
- Dee (6/5): lovely old facility in need of some paint and TLC. - The meals were great. The overall lighting was poor at best. Interesting history. The bad weather didn't help, was pretty gloomy.
- Conor (10/5): Fantastic break in Ballina - A real experience with the setting by the river and in the woods. The castle is unique and full of character. The rooms are beautifully furnished. Food was exceptional and the staff are charming. A wonderful place to stay
- Elise A (8/5): - Fun place to stay, but the cost is high, pick a night where the price is the best
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Need some updating to the amenities in the room. Furniture seems to be broken. Great breakfast though, and the restaurant offers great fine dinning.
- Heather (8/5): Beautiful peaceful setting and luxurious hotel - Beautiful setting. The food was delicious. Much of the staff seemed to be very new on the job so there were hiccups with check in and dining protocol. Avoid room #3. We were upgraded to this room, but it had to be the least quiet as it is at the top of the stairs, directly above above the lobby and all voices, door shuts, etc echoed up into our room until midnight.
- annette (10/5): All around excellent!! - Very friendly and attentive staff, excellent food & great location and reasonable price all make this castle hotel experience a must-stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Historic Castle. - Lovely historic building, lots of charm, great woodland walks.
- Sandie (10/5): Wonderful hotel - I stayed here in August with my husband and two young children. We all loved our time here. The food in the restaurant is amazing, The Drunken Bullock is definitely worth ordering! I'm looking forward to staying here again.
- Stefan (10/5): Very relaxing restful stay - Amazing stay, bed was super comfortable and staff were incredible. We are at the hotel and had the best meal of our entire trip to Ireland. I would highly recommend both the hotel and dinner!
- Suz (10/5): Amazing stay! Loved everything! - Overnight stay- wish we could stay and enjoy longer. Awesome experience. Top notch staff and authentic decor. Loved special touches with candles, excellent restaurant, cozy unique bar, and beautifully decorated large room. Best place we stayed in our 10 day trip through Ireland. While twice the price of most hotels it was totally worth it in value. Staff were professional and gracious.
- Karin (10/5): Beautiful property. - After a long day on the road, it was so nice to be met at the door of the castle. Check in was quick and our room was lovely. Loved the robes and slippers in the closet. The bathroom was the nicest I have seen. We didn't get to eat dinner as we arrived late in the evening, but I have not doubt that it was probably very nice.
- Lorelle (10/5): Birthday stay - We stayed here for my birthday and had dinner in the restaurant. The room was lovely with a canopy bed. But our friends had a small canopy bed just bigger than a single. They asked to be changed and they obliged and had a lovely double with canopy. Be careful and ask what bed you are getting.
The staff and food at the restaurant were great. We had the five course market menu, excellant. Staff very attentive.
The bar was fantastic. Made from 2 spanish galleons.
The lounge has a great fireplace to sit around with pre dinner drinks.
