Guest Reviews
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (3/5): Disappointing. - The room was cold when I arrived. The windows didn't close properly from the inside. I had to go on to the deck to close the window and thre was a huge container of cigarette butts on the table! There was quite a lot of traffic noise. There was no hot water - I had to use another room to shower. There was no breakfast available.
- Jennifer (3/5): Poor -
- Tembani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deidre (7/5): Good -
- Marlene (9/5): Superb - Central
- Pretorius (10/5): Exceptional - Not applicable
- Shirley (7/5): Lovely location. - We loved the location and views, the aircon worked well and the unit was very clean. The unit, particularly the bathroom is very shabby, dated and the blinds are definitely in need of replacement. Overall a good sprucing up is needed. Still enjoyed our stay though.
- Lubabalo (9/5): Superb -
- Paulano (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bert (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): Good - Most things Noise from the nearby highway
- Wolf (8/5): Very good -
- Natasha (8/5): Other than than, the room was nice and clean with a stunning view to the lake. - The location is perfect. It's in walking distance to town. Air-conditioning unit in room was a blessing as it was quite hot in Knysna.
- Daniell (5/5): Passable - Reception lady was friendly. Our stay was generally ohkay. However, the air conditioning was not functioning properly and one of the shower doors was broken, which made showering uncomfortable. Wifi was also very poor. Addressing these issues would greatly enhance the experience for future guests.
- Ronnie (9/5): Superb -
- Marlene (8/5): Very good -
- Bulelani (8/5): Very good -
- Naeema (10/5): Exceptional -
- Khan (6/5): My stay at "On the Estuary" - The location and the security was good. The room had basic items and caters for overnight travellers. The bed in the rooms I booked did not match the pictures on the Booking.com site. The room I expected was with a double bed, and I received two single beds put together. On enquiring at reception I was told that I needed to specify this as a message to the establishment on my booking. I was not happy with this explanation and I would recommend that an explicit selection option needs to be catered, for or it must be specified explicitly how to go about stating which bed option is required.
The one half of the shower door room 2 was stuck and not sliding open.
- Venter (8/5): Very good -
- Gregg (9/5): Superb -
- Vani (8/5): Very good -
- Johndland (5/5): Passable -
- Van (3/5): Location good,,however overpriced based on poor facilities - The view was the only great thing about this place The bathroom, old and moldy smell in the cupboards, bathroom light was flickering very annoying. We had to request for it to be replaced, which should have been checked prior to our arrival.
The amenities; were not stocked fully, don't receive fresh milk, when we asked for fresh milk, we received 1 pod but already expired a month prior.
The TV is open view, no smart TV options, as well as the batteries of the remote was flat, another aspect that needed to be checked prior.
The towels are old and needs to be replaced.
When we left the property, the hostess did not do a proper check to ensure everything is sound, to then be asked 6 hours later about a fork that is missing.
This should be done in our presence before leaving the establishment as anyone could have taken it 6 hours later.
- Terrence (9/5): The host was so friendly and very accommodative, she met all our expectations -
- Natalie (7/5): Good - Location was great. Neat and clean. Comfy bed. There was an issue with the TV. The reception lady sorted it out. But not once, when she entered the room, did she knock on the door, she just walked in. That is not on!
- Adam (7/5): Good - The place was clean The bathroom door was broken, the bathroom lacked a humidifier and it got all wet
The pool is there but it is a tiny pool and wasn't clean
It says it is on the estuary and good views but there is a highway before the estuary
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Siphosethu (7/5): Good - I never had breakfast I had to pay an additional R900 because the booking didn’t specify that we were 2 people I had to pay for even a steamer while the rooms didnt even have an iron
- Ursula (9/5): Superb - Everything you might need was available. Even a porch to sit outside in the evening. There was a bit of nose from nearby N2, but we were so tired, it did not matter.
- Kerisha (7/5): Good -
- Marcus (7/5): Unless there is a major upgrade soon, then I think there a better value options now available. - Location is great with amazing views across the lagoon. Staff were very helpful and happily switched an upstairs room for one on the ground floor as my sister has trouble managing stairs.
Pub / restaurant next door is also very good value. Wifi was poor, and generally feels in need of a makeover.
- Siviwe (6/5): Pleasant - The view from outside. The blinds were falling down from doors.
Single beds in the rooms when we were a couple and the beds had single bed bedding.
- Ewan (9/5): Very enjoyable stay - Nice rooms. Good location Nothing
- André (7/5): Good -
- Shelcon-lee (9/5): Fantastic accommodation in Knysna - The host was very helpful and the attention to detail made the stay enjoyable. Everything was clean and spotless. The beds were very comfortable. Not applicable
- Stephen (3/5): Disappointing - Within easy walking distance of the Muse restaurant which is worth a visit. We were not warned that the dining facilities were closed for refurbishment so a basic breakfast was delivered to our room each morning with no choice or variation. Not good value for money.
The location is next to the main highway so noise was an issue, especially with ill fitting doors and windows.
The swimming pool looked unclean and the surrounding area was unmaintained and unwelcoming.
The overall impression was of a low- to mid-range American motel. On the shabby side and, in comparison with all but one of our other stays in South Africa, a great disappointment.
- Rodrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Silvana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amir (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (7/5): Good - Excellent breakfast in nice surroundings Roomsa bit dated but ok
- Leo (6/5): A good self catering place, but not really a b&b at the moment. - The location is very convenient along the n2. Easy access to the whole of Knysna. The bedroom was nicely updated and the bed was nice.
There was good parking on the properly.
The room was well suited for longer stay and self catering. Our first floor room (room 10) was up a small staircase that was wobbly and did not appear fully safe. The bathroom requires an update and the carpet in the bedroom has seen better days.
We would have liked to be informed about the loadshedding schedule in avance, we had surprise power swiching on and off. We did not understand why the wifi was off most of the time.
The biggest concern though was that the pictures on booking.com were a lot nicer then what we actually saw.
We got served breakfast in our room. Breakfast was served in a one size fits all take away pack (not asking what we liked). It did not feel welcoming and we wondered why the advertised dining room was not used for serving breakfast instead.
The sa tourist board rated this b&b 4 star. What we experience was more a 3 star.
- Aviwe (8/5): It was great - Place is clean and beautiful. Staff is friendly and breakfast was great The showers are open they need to install shower doors and glasses. It’s uncomfortable to bath cause the whole floor gets wet and its cold cause its open.
- Jason (7/5): Not bad for an overnight stop - Very clean, nice room, and an amazing breakfast. Make sure you try out the omelette.
Pub / restaurant next door. It's a bit of a trek to the waterfront and other local restaurants unless you have a car. About 25 minute walk. The WiFi wouldn't connect on my room, which I reported and was told some devices have issues, it didn't work on my phone or laptop. The room was a bit noisy being quite close to the N2
- Julia (7/5): Good -
- Juané (9/5): Superb - Overall service was great..everything was good wifi struggled a bit in the room
- Idalette (5/5): Good for a quick overnight stop - Large room, clean bed, fridge, free parking, birds in the garden Seems a bit rundown, dirty water coming from taps, very dusty in bathroom
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peggy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sipho (6/5): Pleasant -
- Shantal (5/5): Passable -
- Parring (10/5): Had a very good stay in a long time from home. - The breakfast was very good although for the loadshedding the staff went out of their way to keep us pleased throughout the breakfast. Welldone to you guys 👍🙏✨️ Nothing that I can think of.
- Hazel (1/5): Extremely disappointing. So bad i left after first night - Location appaulling. Property in a bad state of repair. Loud generator outside my room during loadshedding.
- Conrad (5/5): It was inexpensive but wifi did not work and no hot water. So those are basics. - Breakfast was very good and I loved the staff. They probably aren't paid enough for all they do. Location is right off the N2. The bedroom itself was nice. Wifi did not work. At all. Neither did the TV. No hot water in the evening or in the morning, so I don't think it was load shedding. Bathroom could use an upgrade.
- Sisathi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nondwe (10/5): Exceptional - Everything expecially the staff was soo welcoming
- Manie (10/5): Will definitely return when in Knysna - The staff were super friendly and always willing to assist. Your biggest asset by far Nothing
- Yongyong (7/5): Good -
- Hamidreza (10/5): beautiful - Thank you,
It was good experience. N/A
- Darryl (8/5): Very good - Very nice...Good value for money. Lol
- Moyo (9/5): Superb - Service, very friendly and accommodating.
Location, the view is spectacular.
The place is beautiful on its own.
Felt very safe all the time.
- Faizel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ashwin (9/5): Superb -
- Siyabulela (8/5): Very relaxing stay and quick to get to main road - Easy to find, secure area and very friendly staff. Nothing
- Bathandwa (6/5): It was okay, would definitely book again. - The location , very central and easily accessible. Pool wasn’t clean and wifi was a nightmare. Breakfast food is okay but definitely less than what is presented on the photos, not feeling at all.
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Vicaela (9/5): Happy Family - The view was amazing! Staff were extremely friendly and breakfast was good. A great stay over on the way to Cape Town.
- Boock (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francois (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmel (9/5): Superb - Comfortable accommodation with easy access to town center.
Friendly, helpful staff
- Brown (10/5): Exceptional - The place was beautiful , clean and neat. Their staff was welcoming and very nice.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Fundiswa (9/5): Superb -
- Rohit (4/5): Disappointing . Cramped space. Not ideal for a family vacation. - The photos on booking.com are very misleading. The rooms that we got were very cramped. The bathroom was tiny. I could barely move around. It was extremely disappointing cause we saw much better properties at the same rate when we got to knysna. It’s pitch dark during the load shedding in the night and all that was provided was a torch. Pls avoid this property.
- Louise (7/5): Beautiful - The staff very friendly The main road noises
- De (9/5): Superb - great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean room, massive bed, over all a great stay!
- Lungiswa (10/5): Exceptional - Place was very quite and neat, friendly staff not forgetting to mention the assistance from Tracey and the guy called Dec, they are awesome Nothing
- Nhluvuko (4/5): I didn’t enjoy my stay, that made to hate Knysna for now. - I didn’t like anything about the estuary. I didn’t like our breakfast service on the first and second morning, they provided spoiled food for us. On our last day they gave us a better chef because of there was new guests whom they respected more than us. Their service wasn’t acceptable at all. We would put the ‘Please clean my room’ sticker and they never paid attention to it. We needed new towels, they never changed them. We had to survive the entire weekend with one pair of towels. They would change staff so that they can have excuses of not serving by saying ‘It wasn’t me who was working yesterday or that guy is new here.’. All the things that attracted us on their adverts wasn’t available, which are the swimming pool wasn’t clean or available, the bar wasn’t available, the TV wasn’t working, their wi-fi was a trouble and their heaters wasn’t working. The estuary really disappointed us,so I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go and stay in that place. On Sunday they even put a bit of fresh cheese off top of spoiled on,they thought we wouldn’t see it. On Friday they offered us umbrellas to use when we go to the shops but on Saturday the other worker said we can’t use the umbrellas outside their premises. If I were to rate them on the scale of 10,I would give them 2.
- Zee (5/5): Passable - The music during breakfast The air-conditioning was not working. And the is no generator when it's loadshedding you stay in the dark.
- Bayden (8/5): Very good -
- Annie (7/5): Good - No electricity the whole night
But it was a problem with the transformer
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andre (7/5): Good - Breakfast was great. Friendly staff.
- Henk (3/5): Won't stay there again due to the noise made by passing trucks at night. - Accommodation itself is good, staff friendly. Unfortunately the location is bad. It is situated next to the N2 in Knysna. This is not the right location for light sleepers. Throughout the night - every few minutes - large, very noisy trucks pass the property. I hardly slept at all.
- Domongoes (10/5): Home away from home - Everything was great.
Breakfast was fantastic.
The sheff and waitress a special kind of awesome. Real cape hospitality.
Manager super friendly and helpful. We also had the privilege meeting the owner: if you are planning to stay over in Knysna, whether it is for one night or a couple of weeks, be sure to give this great place a visit! Real value for money and you will leave knowing you will be back...
- Bevan (9/5): Superb -
- Grant (10/5): Amazing rooms and even better staff - Amazing view of the lagoon, the room we had was spacious very clean and comfortable. And the all the staff are very accommodating, and friendly. 100% would recommend spending a night or more here!
