• Jenny (9/5): Kind family, beautiful sunrise - The owners are incredibly kind. Dany is fluent in english and messaged me on whatsapp before arrival and picked me up from another accommodation. He also drove my luggage to the bus stop on departure day, saving me a walk. Another family member drove me up to the start of the mist/tea/cloud trails along with a 7/11 breakfast stop and shared detailed guidance on how to navigate the trails - saved me so much energy and time as the majority of the walk ended up being downhill. All of this made my trip so much easier and is very appreciated. I was upgraded to a room for 4 people which was rather spacious and the snacks were a lovely touch. There's a platform nearby for the sunrise which overlooks a vast tea plantation and so beautiful. The accommodation has a strong tea scent from all the brewing, which I loved and thought complimented the area. Walls are thin but can be resolved with earplugs. A kettle in the room would've been preferred however there's hot drinking water outside so no issues. I'd recommend & would stay here again.

• Ang (10/5): Amazing spot to rest with family, perfect for those who want to take a day trip to Alishan, FengQiHu - The hospitality of the host family. They took the initiative to WhatsApp you before arrival and the father of the house treated us to their team favoured eggs, and tea. He also recommended us where to have dinner and kindly offered to fetch all 6 of us there and back for dinner since they were free. Nothing, everything was perfect for us!

Heater in the room, good for people who is afraid of cold. Like the comfortable room space, inductive night light, WiFi, Netflix, etc. Would be good to bring a hand-carry luggage as there's no lift. The shower head leaks when in use.

Told us about some interesting "tea trails" and drove ahead of us to take us to the trailhead while they were on their way to pick up their daughter from school. Everything was fine!

Host also provided us with a tea tasting experience of teas from their own farm. We were upgraded from a double room to triple room. To those looking to book on Booking.com, be aware to check the photos under each room type before booking. The listing's 45 profile photos show rooms from their higher end second property. We had not checked the photos of the room we selected and were a bit surprised by the difference. Our recommendation would be for the hosts to have two listings for the two property types to avoid any confusion for guests.

• Anabell (10/5): Lovely family and perfect location - The property was in a great place to be close to the Alishan recreational area. The staff was incredible. Before I checked in, they called me the day before, and made sure that I knew how to get to Alishan and also how to get to the homestay. They also took me into the nearby city and offered a recommendation for dinner, and it was absolutely incredible. I loved this homestay, and I loved the family that I got to meet. I have no issues with this property it’s nearby a bootiful lookout spot for sunset and close to the bus stations that can get you up to Alishan or also down to Chiayi. The family is lovely and you are definitely getting a deal for the quality of customer service and closeness to the recreational area.

• Matthias (8/5): Recommended stay on my way to Alishan National Park - Communication with the host was really good and received the upfront recommendation to rent a car instead of coming by bus — this was a really good advice! The place itself is in a quiet corner, a bit remote from Alishan National forest so it requires some additional 45 minutes drive to the place. But factoring this in, it is a really nice stay with a couple of restaurant and supermarket options in the area. I had a really good night of sleep!

I would recommend the place to anyone who come to Alishan area. - I like the homestay very much in general, the hosts are very kind and supportive during my stay, and even offer me an upgrade to a beautiful mountain view room that is available, lucky me. The location is quite convenient for public transport. They also have very nice tea. Would love to come back next time I come to Alishan.

• Kateřina (10/5): Nice stay in Alishan - Alishan Tea Homestay is a great option when you want to visit the tea plantations and Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. The owners are friendly and speak English. They gave us some good recommendations for restaurant + what to see in the park. We also enjoyed the tea tasting and bought some tea from their production. Would definitely recommend!

The owners go out of their way to pick us up and drop us off the trail. We took public transportation, so we have to rely on the owners who can drop us off /pick us up from the restaurant . There are no supermarket around so you have to buy your own breakfast from outside for the following day.

• Min-jiun (8/5): good place to stay if you want to go to fenqihu and some trails in the tea farm. much cheaper than staying within the al - hosts are helpful in providing info regarding to bus time, nearby attractions info and shuttle us according to our need. it’s a big plus! location wise, no shops nearby and no breakfast provided it means you have to purchase food in advance before. Tho hosts are happy to shuttle you to get food and get you back.

The location is a little far from Shizhaou where the nearest restaurants are and were you take the bus to Alishan National Park, but there's a bus stop close by so you can easily reach it from Chiayi even if you don't come by car. The owner was very helpful and drove me to Shizhaou whenever I needed and picked me up again. Also upgraded my room so I got a bigger one. The room was spacious and comfortable. Internet worked really well too. I appreciate it when the accomodation provides reusable slippers instead of disposable ones, so that's an extra plus. Water dispenser in the hallway so easy to refill water and get hot water whenever needed. The location is very quiet so you are guaranteed to sleep well. There's even a little hike close by where you can watch the sunrise. Sadly the morning I tried there was too much mist, but you can't control the weather. Nothing

• Jaishree (10/5): An excellent 3-night stay - The homestay is situated right on the main road up to Alishan, had comfortable rooms and delicious fresh breakfast. The best part, though, was the owners Dany and Dora who got in touch a few days before our stay with information regarding getting there and made arrangements accordingly. If you are going by public transport, they offer to pick you up too! Dora was extremely helpful and helped me book my bus tickets to Taipei as the website was in Chinese. We were happy with the location as we had our own car so it was easy to get to the restaurants and 7-11 about 5 minutes drive up from the homestay. Alishan forest recreation area was about a 30 minutes drive and Fenqihu and the beautiful tea and bamboo trails in Shizhou are 15-20 minutes by car.

Fluent English speaking management with fantastic recommendations for what to do and the best way to do it. Had I to delay my trip last minute 2 times and they had no problem finding me later dates. Guided us on how to use public transportation the whole way up and have us a really good deal on some of the best tea I've ever had. Highly recommend staying here! If I hadn't had to work we would have stayed an extra night!

The room was spacious and clean except the bathroom and toilet were not separated and I found the floor very slippery after having a shower. The price we paid was relatively good but I did not realise that it was quite far from Alishan National Park.

• Keith (10/5): Outstanding service and experience - Dany and Dora are outstanding hosts! My wife and I stayed only one night with the goal to see the sunrise at Alishan National Park. We took the high speed rail from Taipei to Chiayi and the bus from Chiayi to Alishan. Dany provided excellent details in clear English on how to navigate the bus system. The explanation, suggestions and ideas about how to get tickets for the sunrise train, and where to watch the sunrise lead to an unforgettable experience for my wife and I where we watched the sunrise in a romantic location with only five other people while a mass of more than 200 crowded together in the general viewing area. We stayed in the Alishan Tea about 9 hours, only to sleep, with the room being clean and well maintained. Dany and Dora went above and beyond to ensure our experience was outstanding and they succeeded. The service level made our stay easy, memorable and highly impressed.

The room was clean and aircon was not needed (because it’s quite cool in the mountain area). The hostel is a bit far from Alishan. The hosts can help arrange transportation to go up in the morning for sunrise. Wear extra clothes as it can get quite cool in the mountain ranges.

If you love waking up to the smell of freshly baking Oolong tea (and drinking Oolong tea, of course), you can't go wrong with this place. Public transport in the entire Alishan area is limited but workable and our kind hosts were astonishingly helpful both in planning and execution of our itinerary. Simply could not have had a better stay.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Really lovely and spacious room! Hosts were very accommodating, picking me up and dropping me off at Shizhao for food and hikes. They even brought me my bags so that I could catch the bus at Shizhao right after my hike. Really strong internet connection, really quiet place for a good night’s sleep. Highly recommend!!

• Janet (8/5): - 原本擔心是茶行附設的民宿會很簡陋，沒想到佈置和環境都非常的溫馨舒適，房門一打開就會聞到茶香味，真的好放鬆。 早餐是一人一套，送來時發現少了兩杯咖啡，原本以為是老闆忘了叫，沒想到隨後送來了現煮咖啡，更讓人感覺到老闆的貼心。
• JOさん (6/5): 阿里山手前集落の茶業の民宿 - 阿里山観光して手前の標高1500m位にある兼業民宿である。バス停にあるコンビニにTEL連絡してもらい迎えて頂きなんとか到着。会話は、中国語のみ。タブレットで一方通行、さらに通信を通して委託してるであろう英語でリサーチされる。意味不明、朝食もリストからオーダー、ここは、中国語を話せるゲストが利用がいいのでは。
• 小麥 (10/5): 民宿老闆相當親切，有任何問題詢問，知道的老闆願意分享，飯店環境清幽有茶香味，住宿房間乾淨。 - 參考網路評價體驗看看，進去果真符合網路評價，事前出發打電話詢問老闆能有機會帶我們去參觀螢火蟲嗎？老闆說如果有螢火蟲的話是可以帶去民宿附近的茶園觀賞。當日晚上約晚上九點到了民宿，因為擔心停車停到影響別的民宿，所以詢問老闆，老闆說要停在他們的停車場，老闆移出自己的車，讓我把車停進去，進到民宿聞到一股茶香味，check in後意外的自己房間升級，自己訂二人房，老闆給了8人房，超級開心，老闆也提出自己需求，希望我們用裡面的二張大床，另兩張大床不要用，好讓隔日他們清潔方便，我覺得老闆的態度真親切與和善。在Chech in時也會詢問隔日早餐要吃什麼，並約定吃早餐的時間。進到房內很喜歡房內的環境，備有茶水、毛巾、浴巾…等，由於山上溫度較低，也不需要冷氣就很舒服。衛浴也整理的相當清潔，很喜歡民宿準備的茶味的洗髮精和沐浴乳。那對於這間民宿的喜歡是因為這次旅遊，意外知道光華的賞螢步道，本來以為要到瑞里去看螢火蟲，若在光華看螢火蟲，民宿離光華只有20分鐘的車程而已，覺得挺棒的。
• Verified traveler (6/5): 乾淨，但位置離阿里山較遠 - 房間乾淨，地點在加油站旁邊很好找，但離阿里山較遠，開車約45分鐘，民宿最近吃東西的地方也要開一小段路才會到。
