Guest Reviews
- Brian (10/5): - Just what you would want in a beautiful country inn in Provence. The rooms were nicely appointed and the landscaping was unbelievable. Richard and Jasmine were wonderful host. Breakfast was delicious. Make sure to try Richard’s baking. Richard gave us excellent itineraries to explore. Driving on the narrow country road was a little scary but part of the adventure. Definitely a central location for exploring Provence.
- Andreas (10/5): Heaven on earth! - Not sure how we can describe this amazing place just outside Saint Didier! This is truly exceptional and we hope to go back one day.
Richard and Jasmine and their two daughters are amazing and took care of everything. Extremely helpful and service minded, can’t compliment the breakfast enough! Delicious cheese and salami, lots of bread and croissants and also homemade tartes.
Everyone must experience this beautiful place once in their lifetime! So much to do in this area but don’t forget to just relax by the amazing pool or take a stroll in their beautiful garden!
Thank you so much!
- Mona (10/5): A beatiful place - Very nice, relaxing and beautiful place in the middle of the Wine yards with a view to Mont Ventoux. We loved our stay - and will for sure be back
- Paul (10/5): Like living in a Monet painting, with breakfast! - Hosts were charming, personable, and informative. Out of the way but easy to find and near a small town with restaurants and shops. Grounds were serene and beautiful – you can tell a lot of work and love went into the gardens and property. The bed was comfortable, and the room was surprisingly quiet for an old country house. Bathrooms were updated and no issues with water pressure, hot water, etc. Our room had a coffee machine and a water boiler for tea. There was no fridge in the room, but they have a “guest kitchen” with two small refrigerators, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, etc., so you can go buy wine, cheese, etc. and keep it there. Breakfast was served in the garden patio with coffee, homemade and local pastries, breads, cheese, juices, and fresh strawberries. Hosts made scrambled eggs or omelets at your preference. One of the only places we’ve stayed where we felt sad when leaving. We rarely return to the same place (the world is huge!) but this would be the only place we would stay if we were anywhere near here again.
- Anthony (10/5): Tout simplement grandiose !
- Winnie S (10/5): Exceptional Place - Warm and helpful hosts. Place is well maintained and has a beautiful garden.
- JC (10/5): Formidable endroit !
- Howard (10/5): Charming and beautiful stay - My wife and I had a delightful stay. Richard and Enxin were fabulous hosts and made the experience feel very personal and welcoming. The hotel itself has charming gardens and a lovely pool with views across Provence.
- Laura (10/5): - An incredible, one of a kind experience from start to finish. I cannot recommend this gorgeous property enough, run by an incredible, detail-oriented couple. We were served a delicious homemade breakfast each morning under a canopy of grape vines, followed by incredible recommendations from our host, map and all. The rooms were wonderful and comfortable and the grounds were stunning. The surrounding area is full of great food, wine and activities to pass the time, but we always found ourselves wanting to come back to the compound. We can’t wait to come back!! Thank you Enxin and Richard for your hospitality!
- Milou (10/5): - Beautiful property and lovely hosts. Walking distance into the little village for dinning options. Great breakfast, best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had and the homemade apricot pie was to die for! Super place to stay and I wished we had more than one night here, will be back for sure.
- Brian (10/5): Heaven in the countryside of Provence - Wow. What an absolutely spectacular visit. The place was beautiful. The gardens were flourishing. Our room was nicely appointed and recently (past few years) redone. We had a/c which was a bonus since it was mid-July.
However the most amazing part of it all were the hosts. Richard has a hospitality background and it shows. The food at breakfast was amazing. Among many other things, he served the most incredible homemade apricot pastry. He also made eggs to order and kept our coffee cups filled.
He was extremely helpful making dinner reservations (definitely needed) as well as sitting with us before we departed and mapped out an entire route to visit for the day.
We will go out of our way to return here in the future.
- jay (10/5): - The hosts are amazing. Very generous with their time to make all guests feel at home. Can’t wait to go back.
- Martin Ivan Melendez (10/5): - My husband and I stayed at Bastide Saint Didier for 2 nights and our stay was really the highlight of our France trip. Bastide Saint Didier is very clean and beautiful with very friendly and kind hosts. We had the most amazing breakfast every morning and Richard helped us plan our visit to the different villages in Provence with great recommendations. They allowed us to do our laundry in their nice laundry room and they had a summer kitchen in case we wanted to stay at the B&B for dinner. We highly recommend this beautiful place and wish we stayed longer.
- Lisa (10/5): - This was the most idyllic Bed and Breakfast I have ever stayed at. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. And the location means you can do everything you want in Provence easily from there. Wish I had stayed much longer than my three nights.
- Suzen (10/5): - My husband and I had the pleasure of spending 5 days with Enxin and Richard at this beautiful bed and breakfast. From the moment we drove in, we were greeted with friendly hosts who were willing to share their love of the area in the way of recommendations. They also were happy to hear about the other places we were visiting, and make suggestions for things to do and see there. The first restaurant that Richard recommended was excellent. We went back a second time, it was so good. Enxin was up before us every morning to have a fantastic breakfast prepared, and by the second morning, she knew our preferences for eggs, coffee and tea. They were lovely to get to know. The property itself is amazing. I couldn't stop taking pictures. Enxin has created beautiful gardens and grows much of her own fruit and they also produce their own honey! The fresh figs were SO good! The home itself is a large, renovated 18th century farmhouse with all of the quaintness that we were hoping for. The rooms are large with lots of space for your belongings. The shower is generously sized and the water is hot :) The drains are older and a bit slow, but we expected that in a home like this and for us it wasn't any inconvenience. There was even a washer on site so that we were able to keep up with our laundry! All in all, it was one of our favourite stops on our month-long trip, and we will absolutely be back.
- Christy (10/5): - Had an amazing stay!! The house and gardens were so beautiful and the hosts were so warm and welcoming and helpful. The area was very lovely and close to many villages and spectacular drives. Would highly recommend
- Jacqueline (10/5): - We stayed at Bastide Saint Didier for two nights. The property is gorgeous, very picturesque and well maintained. Richard and Enxin were wonderful hosts, they offered delicious breakfast service every morning and Richard spent time with us making recommendations on what to visit nearby. We had a suite on the top floor which was nicely furnished and very comfortable. Would highly recommend! Thanks again for everything!
- Roger (10/5): Relaxing stay in the French village - We give 5 stars for Bastide Saint Didier. Great service and warm welcome from Richard and his wife. Only 7 mins walk to the village for restaurants. Breakfast is variety and tasty. The house has a charm and surrounded with threes and flowers. You can relax at the pool in the evening after a day trip around the area. Highly recommend this place when you visit Provence.
- Mihhail (10/5): Awesome stay - Amazing hosts, delicious breakfast, clean rooms and pool area, beautiful garden. Recommend to stay for a least two-three nights in order to enjoy the place!
- Jonathan (10/5): Beyond Excetional! - This was one of our most pleasant stays anywhere in the world. The location is so picturesque, the house itself beautiful but the thing that made it so special was the service provided by the owners was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble - including a recommendation for dinner at the point of booking our stay, which was also a sublime restaurant and without the recommendation we would have missed.
Cannot recommend this highly enough. If you want a relaxing peaceful and memorable stay then this is definitely the place to go.
- Ali (10/5): - I stayed here with a good friend for a week's relaxation and 'girlie break', and I couldn’t fault anything about our stay. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, couldn’t do enough to help with routes, other information about the area (which is stunning, by the way) and supplied us with enough delicious breakfast for about six people, every morning! Both our rooms were enormous, hugely comfortable and clean, with big bathrooms and everything you could need, with views onto vineyards, hills and Mont Ventoux just to add to the idyll! The Bastide was also well-placed to reach everything in the area, but down a quiet lane, within walking distance of the village of Saint Didier. I’m still missing eating under the vines and lounging by the pool, as well as the stunning scenery and architecture everywhere, and definitely cried a bit as I left...! :) Couldn’t fault anything, thanks to our lovely hosts (and the near-perfect weather!)...
- Jillene (10/5): - If you are lucky enough to stay here, congratulations! Only regret is that I wish we had more time to spend at this beautiful property. Lovely setting and hosts. Just what you dream of when thinking of Provence!
- Beata (8/5): - The owner, Richard, and his wife are exceptional hosts, very warm, welcoming and helpful.
- Helen (10/5): - Richard was lovely. Breakfast was perfect. Gorgeous setting.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Bastide Saint-Didier. Richard, the host, was super attentive and gave us amazing recommendantio
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful location, great facilities, and outstanding service. Spent two nights with children, everyone had a spectacular experience. Would gladly return, and highly recommend the property.
- Scott (10/5): Best stay of our Vacation in France - Very lovely true bed and breakfast in Provence. The location is very convenient to both Avignon and the Luberon hilltop villages. The breakfast is amazing...especially the apricot torte made with fruit from their trees. Our kids loved the large property and the beautiful large pool. We appreciated the outdoor kitchen with a view of the rolling hills. The owner Richard made us feel at home and his kindness is genuine. We look forward to coming back here in the future and we will highly recommend this property to our friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome experience, amazing family run hotel - Richard and his wife are amazing hosts! The breakfast they prepare themselves is amazing and definitely the best you’ll eat in the Provence region.
The hotel is well located at a short driving distance from beatiful historic sites, and Richard can give you tips of places around the area that are not so popular but worth a visit.
The only dowside for us is that the walking distance village from the hotel does not offer many places to eat, so you may have to drive to the nearest town to get your meals, and those narrow roads are an adventure day or night... Other than that, the place is fantastic!
- Sean (10/5): Great place and wonderful hosts for family - We easily found Bastide Saint Didier just a mile or so from the village of Saint Didier, just about 25-30 minutes East of Avignon. The setting was beautiful with views of the Dentelles de Montmirailles and Mount Ventoux, situated in the middle of Cote de Rhone & Cote de Ventoux wine country. The property itself had apple and olive trees and vineyards next door.
The home was charming and the room with the queen bed and loft with 2 single beds fit our family perfectly. The bedroom, bathroom and toilet were perfectly clean. The bedding kept us plenty warm for late November (temperatures dropping into the low- to mid-40s(Fahrenheit)).
The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and delicious. They provided a buffet with various breads and pastries as well as fruits, homemade fruit jams, yogurt, cereal, cheeses, some meat and offered to prepare eggs if we wanted them.
Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating, sharing much with us about this area of Provence including outdoor activities, recommended restaurants, wine tastings, and other sights. They provided us with a variety of maps, guidebooks, and brochures that appear to have been accumulated over the previous few years. They also showed us recommended routes to drive to catch everything we wanted to in the short time that we had.
We would highly recommend Bastide Saint Didier and would absolutely stay here again when coming back to Provence.
- Guillaume (10/5): Simply amazing - What an amazing experience at La Bastide St Didier. Richard and Enxin are such considerate and delightful hosts, not to mention they prepare the most wonderful breakfast. Used to 5* hotels for business traveling, I would trade it all for another stay in this fantastic place. The attention to detail is exemplary, all in a friendly and welcoming fashion. The property is a jewel by itself, and we had a great time exploring the gardens, eating the figs, grapes and almonds (with Richard's permission!). We are committed to return, and recommend it wholeheartedly to couples for a romantic stay, and pretty much to anyone wanting a slice of true Provence.
- David (10/5): A great place to relax and unwind. - From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home and welcome in this charming chambres d'hote. Just a short walk from the centre of Saint Dider and situated in peaceful surroundings, this was an ideal base camp to relax and enjoy some of what Provence has to offer. The staff were lovely and always on hand to offer advice, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
It would be difficult to criticise any part of the overall feel of the place and the service that was provided.
I can't recommend Bastide Saint Didier highly enough.
- Olympia (10/5): Lovely Hosts - Lovely hosts in a very rural setting which creates a relaxing atmosphere.
Recommended air conditioning as the top floor rooms were too hot ( checked in August).
We were transferred to a bottom room with continual cool breeze.
Other than that, breakfast is spectacular and hosts very accommodating.
- Julia (10/5): Perfect Place in Provence - If you are looking for the perfect place to stay in Provence then look no further. You'll find the Bastide Saint Didier hard to beat. So much attention to detail has been made in order to make guest feel at home. The rooms are decorated with taste and luxury. Super comfy beds. The bathrooms are well planned and well appointed, outstanding regional toiletries are provided. The swimming pool sits glistening with Mont Ventoux as the picture perfect backdrop. The breakfast spread is outstanding. Richard and Enxin are the best hosts you could ever hope for. Incredibly accommodating, warm and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. I highly recommend staying at the Bastide Saint Didier, hopefully one day I will return.
- Lee (8/5): Scenic b&b - My husband and I loved our stay! Beautiful house in the countryside. Wonderful hosts who provided detailed tips on local activities. Delicious breakfast with homemade apricot tarts! Easy walk into a small town with a few restaurants. Good location for travelling throughout Provence.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Delightful Owners - Delightful owners who speak excellent English and were very helpful with regard to the neighbouring area. Excellent breakfast and plenty of non alcoholic drinks freely available to counter the heat. Good sized swimming pool. Would definitely return when next in the area.
- Marc (10/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful country setting located in the countryside outside of but close to town. Gracious and helpful hosts. Comfortable country style room with modern bathroom. Delicious breakfast, especially the homemade apricot tarte. Enjoyed the local restaurant recommended for dinner by our host. Walked there and back on a beautiful night. We stayed only one night during a three week tour of southern France. This was one of our most lovely and memorable lodgings!
- Tam (10/5): Perfect stay! - We could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay. Everything was wonderful, from the large pool to to the yummy breakfasts. The owners are extremely accommodating as well and we appreciated their tips on things to do and places to visit. We can't wait to return!
- Veronica & Jack (10/5): Home away from home in the South of France - Enxin & Richard made our stay warm & inviting, not only is the home beautiful & tastefully decorated the surrounding gardens & pool are very relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
Every morning we were served a French breakfast of homemade fruit tarts & jams, fresh fruits, cheeses, ham and variety of fresh breads...all very delicious.
Evenings were spent having a wonderful glass of wine under the stars!
We travel to France often and stay in many places, Bastide St. Didier is now our sanctuary after our working days. Thank you Richard & Enxin
- Dale (10/5): Great place with wonderful hosts - We were only here for two days, but had an absolutely wonderful time. The house itself is lovely and our room was spacious enough and comfortable. But what made the biggest impression was the hosts, who greeted us in the parking lot, showed us around the entire house, and gave us great advice on places to go and things to do. The location was great for exploring the area -- Mont Ventoux and dozens of lovely villages are all within a short drive. Also impressive was the breakfast buffet, including a variety of bread and pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits, home-made jams and tarts, and fresh-squeezed orange juice.
- David (10/5): Second to none -
- Elaine (10/5): - Had a wonderful time and ended up staying 2 extra days. Richard, his wife and daughter made us feel like family. The room was large with magnificent views. They served a large, delicious breakfast. Richard is very knowledgeable about the area and gave great recommendations for restaurants and areas of interest. The property is gorgeous and close to many areas of interest. I would highly recommend it and can't wait to return. Elaine and David
- Verified traveler (10/5): A True Gem in Provence - You will not get a warmer welcome than from Richard and Enxin in their beautiful farmhouse in the heart of Provence, close to all the southern Cote de Rhone wine villages as well as the beautiful hilltop villages such as Gordes. Richard ran some of the top hotels in Beijing before he bought and refurbished Bastide St Didier less than a year ago with his wife and young daughter. The rooms are fresh and very comfortable with great attention to detail such as L' Occitane soaps and shampoo. The breakfast is excellent with eggs, pancakes, croissants and freshly baked tartes. With their training in top end hospitality both Richard and Enxin cannot do enough to make your stay memorable and, whilst you can walk to the village for dinner, you should definitely join them for an informal supper when Richard will cook for you.
We only stayed for 4 days but felt we had been there for well over a week and their new venture deserves the success I am sure it will get. The refurbishment of the swimming pool was just finishing as we left so will be ready for the summer.
A delightful stay and I am sure you will not be disappointed.
